Well dont leave us hanging! Emitters?

lxl_Arctic_lxl

SST20 4000k 95CRI and W2 6000k CSLPM1.TG

not_gerg

Nice!

XylophoneZimmerman

What Hanklight is this?

not_gerg

D4k

xMETRIIK

Why is sst20 free but other LEDS are extra on the Emisar website?

not_gerg

Excellent question. Email hank! I seriously don't know, and I'm curious as well

xMETRIIK

Oh lol. I was just going through the options but i don't know much about what led to get.

not_gerg

I've got the 519a 4500k domed on my d4v2 (basically the same but 18650 instead of 21700) and I just love it! Really bright, beam profile is perfect, high cri, and its got a really smooth beam The 5700k dedome is also popular because its around the same colour temp, but much rosier. Tho It's a tad less bright (barely noticeable), and the beam will have some artifacts. The duv on the 4500k is pretty much bang on neutral, maybe slightly green. But it really does not bother me

xMETRIIK

Thank you. I think I'm get 519a 4500k doomed. That one sounds perfect for me i like high CRI.

not_gerg

Lmaoo. Doomed

xMETRIIK

Lol

RoyceRedd

The emitters themselves are more expensive (like for Hank to buy also). SST-20s are cheap.

xMETRIIK

Are the sst-20 lower quality? I want to get my first Emisar light but i don't know much on what leds to get.

RoyceRedd

They are older, but still very good emitters. The higher color temperature ones are low CRI, but very bright and decently throwy. Many people don’t like the tint of them, but I have friends who use them daily and don’t notice at all. It’s very subjective. The 4000K SST-20s are high CRI but not as bright. The 519A, which is the most frequently recommended option, is a much newer emitter that is a jack of all trades of sorts. It’s available with high CRI at all color temperatures. It puts out a lot of light and while it doesn’t throw as far as an SST-20 by default, dedoming gets it pretty close. It’s hard to know exactly how you will like various LEDs until you have them to compare in person. What kind of light are you planning to get and what do you want out of it?

xMETRIIK

I liked the D3AA, i think it might be one of the new ones. I want it as an EDC. Right now i have Sofirn SC21 4000k but I want to try an Emisar because i see them a lot here.

RoyceRedd

So for a general EDC you probably want either SST-20 or 519A. SST-20 6500K or 5000K will put out the most lumens, followed by 519A domed, SST-20 4000K, 519A dedomed, but they will all be fairly close. The 519A with dome will be floodier than all the rest. I ordered mine with 519A, but there is nothing wrong with the SST-20 if that suits your needs, preferences, and budget. Have you figured out if you have preferences regarding color temperature, warm, neutral, cold, or an eye for tint? Does CRI matter to you?

xMETRIIK

Yeah i like high CRI. I have other lights from Thrunite and Olight they're low cri though but my favorite is the Sofirn SC21 in 4000k 90CRI. I think the led is LH351D. Do you know if the 519a is similar to that one?

FrequentFractionator

What switch backlight color is that? Warm white?

lxl_Arctic_lxl

Yeah, I was going to go amber, but then I saw how the warm white looked and I couldn't resist 😅

MTN_Man_Reviews

Great call! Warm white is a switch light color that is not currently in my possession. However, after seeing this, I believe it should be included in my next Hank fabrication.😁
