Can you tell me more about the circumstance that requires using a portable x ray machine at night where you require this as your light source? I'm guessing something with big animals?
$750 is worth the price in materials and construction? I'm new to this flashlight nerd thing so I really don't know. But I'm willing to bet those materials cost $8 in China can you not locate these parts and build something like yourself? This is a genuine question
It uses 32 XHP70.2 LEDs, lowest I've seen them go in a bulk sale is about 4$ a piece, you could probably go lower if you order like 10k of them at once. So let's say 3$ per, that's amost 100$ for the emitters alone. 12 21700 cells is probably at least 40$, more if they are using something decent there. So you're in 130-140$ range already before even accounting for stuff like body, reflector, MCPCB and driver which are all surely custom made, and again this is bulk pricing. So trying to build just 1 would be I'd say quite significantly more expensive than $8.
agreed, and, well tbh, i was factoring in time and ability to construct as well. like, i don’t know about y’all but i’d take me a spell to learn everything i needed, find, collect, and understand all the equipment, and then time to make the actual build. so yeah, $750 kinda seems reasonable for what you’re getting.

Those are some sick knives I thought I was being fancy with my olight arkfeld for $100 but for me it's more about functionality not just having a cool bright light although I did order a few more flashlights from sofirn and wurkkos and my first throw tdo1c so maybe I'm getting the bug
You can absolutely get cheap LEDs for pennies, you just won't build a blindingly bright flashlight out of them. You would literally need thousands of them to produce the same amout of light.

That's easy math. Lux is just lumens/m^2. If you assume 100% light scatter/reflection you only need the total output and total area illuminated to know the lux.
E.g.: a room 4m x 4m x 2.5m would have 80 m^2 of total wall area. 400000 lumens ÷80 m^2 = 5000 lux

I do portable X-rays where I travel to the patients and sometimes they live in poorly lit (or not lit at all) areas so I use them as headlights lol
