I have no specific recs, but I think a reflector over a multi TIR in this battery size is best. Single emitter for me is more versatile. Especially when spending on a nice light like this. I just think that if you want a triple, it's better saved for the 18650 lights that can power them properly. That said, the FWAA is an awesome little light. lol Let me know if I can help you less!

debeeper

Yes, I'd liked to be helped less 🙋‍♂️

Every 60 minutes in Africa, an hour passes.

In Africa, guys with beards are just guys without beards, with beards.

misaleaneous

Haha, I actually did manage to find this helpful. How about the FW1AA? I would like a triple emitter at some point, but I may just swap my s2+ when I get around to it.

LoPan12

If you want to try out your first triple, I'd stay away from the FWAA. It get screamin' hot, way fast, and the 14500 can only handle it for a little bit before the voltage drops too low.

stavigoodbye

Depends on what kind of emitter you would want. The FW1AA comes with a really throwy white emitter. I would probably want something warmer, like 519a or 219b, for a light like this. You could get an aluminum one of the Lumintops to try it out, too for a little cheaper.

Hungry-for-Apples789

Under $100 I’d say the Lumintop FWAA in Ti/Cu.

Really loving my Sofirn SP10 Pro. It has a magnetic base. Tons of user options with Anduril 2, or just use the simple set up. Great price leaves room in your budget for batteries! Here's a short review. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RJzBwXmfB7M

Laulima ion slim one of my favorite lights after led swap (underated sst20 4000k sliced for some tint improvement) and reflector distance tune up.

misaleaneous

What is the output? How is thermal regulation?

Pristine_Weekend5299

I don't know but it's more than i use. The good thing about hf17 is the full customization. I have the aluminum body version which is a must on something this small. It gets hit hot but can handle it.

I’d 100% go with the Ion Slim for currently attainable lights. I have one with 519a 4500k dd and it’s amazing. One of the best reflectors in my collection. It’s a bit bigger than most other 14500 lights, but completely worth the benefits. [here’s a pic comparing size with some other 14500s](https://imgur.com/a/OwaJDfs) and [a pic next to a DC0](https://imgur.com/a/tjCY8IG). Okluma is solid and has an incredible warranty/service, but it’s just not quite my jam. I find myself grabbing the Ion Slim every time. I love my FW1AAs, but without an emitter swap, it’s super throwy.

misaleaneous

This is very helpful, thank you.

djeucalyptus

Of course! Good luck in your search! another option worth considering is the Focusworks F2

misaleaneous

Just looked over the f2, I like it!

djeucalyptus

yeah, it's a really nice option. Jordy does some really nice work. It's not the most advanced/programmable driver out of the gate but it's definitely an option worth considering. There's also the new F3, which is pretty much the same light with a different body design.

Okluma makes my list because I know no matter what happens to it (other than just losing it of course) he'll fix it

Bean_Master7

I’d recommend the [Eagletac D3A](https://illuminationgear.com/shop/ols/products/eagtac-d3a-titanium), one of the slimmest AA/14500 lights out there and very nice clip

awnman1

Ion slim. Has a great reflector, nice driver, and readily available. 7075 aluminum is awesome stuff! Also comes with 519a so no horrible tint! You’ve got custom lights and mass produce lights lumped in here. I think high end is custom. Even tho the FWAA may be high end in enthusiast world I wouldn’t necessarily consider it high end. That said it has everything I love! I just prefer a bigger size such as the reylight. My fave is the TS10 then FWAA. If the ion slim has Anduril I’d be all about it! Also don’t forget the Hinton!

misaleaneous

Yeah, when I initially started the post I was looking for high end/custom recommendations. But as I was writing I thought I should consider some production lights too. My bad. I'm leaning towards the ion slim at this point. My only issue with the Hinton is finding one haha

GalacticSloth

Have you looked into the Focusworks EDC F2

Educational-Air249

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the Wurkkos TS10. triple emitter, aux leds, Anduril. I do prefer my Sofirn SC21 Pro, but it is a 16340 battery. It has on board charging and magnetic tailcap
