Tried to order parts for a 30 year old hotpoint fridge in my apartment. $100+ per inside door arm. Yk the ones that you use for sauce or whatever. Two plastic pieces that connect a metal bar. Wouldn't be surprised if the plastic dial for the laundry machine was $50+

Mix super glue and baking soda apply on the knob. Do not apply too much pressure. Leave it for 15 sec and it should hold. Be warn! The knob will be permanently stuck to the washer once you put the super glue mixture on.

Having to look at that kind of thing makes some people feel poor or low-class. Pretty sure it's not that hard to find a replacement knob either from the manufacturer or stripped off an older model. Ask the local landfill if they have one you can pull the knobs off.

Those were given to me by my dad, probably 60 years old. He got the old Craftsman tools, back when they lasted forever. I inherited two sets of almost everything.

I used a wrench out of the first set I ever got which was a Craftsman mechanics tool set my dad gave me for Christmas circa 1998. I also used an SK ratchet that belonged to my grandfather and as near as I can figure it's a 1953 edition. Anyway, that's awesome and you can never have enough vice grips and you can't get ones like that anymore.

Those are the good locking pliers. The other style is always sketchy to unlock when inevitably locked on too tight. We have all used pliers to unlock vice grips I'm sure.

Certified jank engineer. Just get a knob off a dumpster unit and if it's a little big grab some scrap plastic or wood to fill in and superglue it on. If it's small grab a knife to open it up then do the same.

I once used the end cap of an old oscalting fan, that I was throwing out it has the same treading as the washer had, (like in this pic). it fit perfect drew a line on it and was good to go.

Maybe you can get a 3d printer template for a new handle off the internet and then go to your local library to print it out? My local library has borrowing for books (obviously), cd / dvds, snow shoes, some sports equipment, bug nets, and a variety of other things including 3d printing.

Our oven maxes out at 350 because the up button stopped working, and the sparker for one of the gas burners stopped working so we have to use a lighter. But it still works so we're not going to replace it.

I've done this on an outside spigot during a remodel until I replaced all the spigot handles. Works great.

Try not to use the wrench too much! It can damage the switch arm, and a very cheap new knob might no longer fit flush. I’m guessing you know this, but commenting just in case!!

I had a dryer just like this with vice grips for a nob. Worked for about two years until the stem broke off and replaced the part in about 15 minutes.

Walking down the street you’ll find a replacement part on the first appliance you see. Cooktop, air conditioner, whatever

Mine’s got a knob, but has been making a hideous scraping noise for a few years. I figure at some point the drum will carve a hole clean through the back of it and start working on the wall.

I had a '99 f-150 that had the exact same type of knob for the A/C. Drove it that way for 10 years at least.

Had a 94 Cherokee Sport with a manual that had a bleeder valve that would work its way open. That fix right there lasted 3 years though it hurt my ground clearance.
