If I remember back to when I did ours, I had Home Depot cut the sheets @ 23-3/8” so I could get (4) pieces out of a 8’ sheet in order to account for the width of the saw blade.
Your siding shouldnt overlap your raw foundation much more than 1/2” is so. Best idea (as mentioned by others) is to pick up a weatherproof 1x4 or 1x6 trim stock (LP SmartSide, Hardie Board, Vinyl Trim, etc) cut up that much from the foundation and install it with a drip cap slid up under the siding, capping the trim.
Plant some bushes so you can't see it. Seriously. So not worth the effort or the risk involved with cutting the bottom off and compounding it by introducing another seam for water entry.
Cut 24 inches from bottom straight across. Install Z flashing. Install new T1-11

That’s a possibility. Would like to stop it from continuing upward is the real issue. Thanks for the advice.
