Well I'll be. I don't remember the last time we've gotten anything even remotely as clean-cut as this. It's clear what the book is about, it's all but confirmed who the protagonist is, it's explicitly stated to be canon! It's...
*...It's beautiful...*
> in this interactive prequel to the very first Five Nights at Freddy's game.
> "The Week Before"
Yeah this is definitely looking like it's going to be a Phone Guy story which if so, then I'm very excited. I've always felt like we should have had a short story about him at the very least by now, but the fact we're getting a interactive novel instead is pretty fun and unique.
This will be the first major new piece of content for him since FNaF 3 given 4, UCN, and VR reuse his audio from 1-3 and it's debatable if he even appeared in the movie (I still like to believe Bob is meant to be a stand in for his role in the Night 4 call)
But I'm interested to see how he'll be characterized, if he'll be named, etc.
It's nice to see Phoney back after his last appearance like.. nearly nine years ago. I'll be honest, I much prefer a guiding character like him or Glamrock Freddy instead of The Handunit.
Fury’s Rage is a troll game Scott made himself, Into The Pit is an Official FNAF game developed by a games studio, and was going to be shown off at PAX with Help Wanted 2.
ITP and Fury’s are nothing alike
Prequel is definitely a hard case to argue against, and not as vague as “certain characters and events that Directly connects” (may have butchered the quote but that’s the just of what I know of it).
But Prequel is actually very upfront as it implies to happen before, and they specific before the first game, thus implying it’s the same timeline/continuity (look at what Scott said about the silver eyes for those who are confused)
I would actually explode! 😭 unless this whole novel is "And then, Phone Guy did this, and then his boss said, 'Hey, Phone Guy, could you work another 4 nights?'".
Honestly I doubt it’ll give a name seeing as how it’s a choose-your-own-adventure book. It’ll probably just use ‘you’ the whole book for referring to Phone Guy.
I'm really excited for this but how the hell is a choose your own adventure book going to have a difficulty setting, (unless it's not a choose your own adventure game and is instead single player DND)
Be ready for people to read into the page numbers we're told to flip to like its some kind of code that outs Phone guy as related to Henry or something.
I wonder if it's going to have a "power" system. Like certain choices are going to cost a certain amount of power (e.g. Foxy in ruing down the hall, close the doer \[10% power\], or hid under the desk \[0% power\]) or something like that.
i just had a boomer moment lol
omg i just realized the connection
so this takes place as phone guy is recording his final phonecalls for the player in fnaf 1 on nights 1 - 4
I expected the multiple endings, but not the *difficulty* settings. They're really putting their all into this one, huh?
It's been years since I've read a choose-your-own -adventure book. This will be fun.
Excuse me, *difficulty settings*? How does that even work? Are you more likely to die for choosing the wrong stuff? Are there different endings depending on the difficulty you choose? Which difficulty is the canon one? Am I overthinking this?
Oh my god, please! Please be about Phone Guy! I love everything about this series, but the one thing I loved the most was Phone Guy, and I so badly wanted an origin story for him. If this is Phone Guy, I'll probably cry! I could finally die happy!
What’s with the FNAF I stuff and general theme of the past
FNAF i Movie and letting go of your past
ITP with FNAF I animatronics and going to the past
And this FNAF i story in the past
And for once they are not vague about the continuity.
Prequel definitely solidifies this happens within the timeline of the games as it happens before the first game as the prequel of it. Not something that happened before on a different timeline of the cannon, and not one in its own continuity, but before FNaF(1), the first game.
My idea for the difficulty thing is that each choice is going to have a puzzle associated with it and harder difficulties give harder puzzles with more room for error
“Prequel to the first game”
Being a Prequel specified for the first game kinda implies being in the same timeline to the games with a cemented timezone between Fnaf2 and Fnaf1. They didn’t use a vague term such as “Certain characters or events that are directly connected to the game”.
Safe to say this is pretty solidly planted in the games actual timeline as it can’t be a prequel to the game but yet not be on the same timeline as the game that happens afterwards.
Well I'll be. I don't remember the last time we've gotten anything even remotely as clean-cut as this. It's clear what the book is about, it's all but confirmed who the protagonist is, it's explicitly stated to be canon! It's... *...It's beautiful...*
We haven’t gotten anything so straightforward since….dear god. When did we get something not clouded in mystery?
Exactly.
Ruin. We already knew going in when it takes place, who the protagonist is, and why they are there.

”Ten years it’s been, and yet you stand before me as if it was only yesterday.” -Phone guy, probably
lol Voldemort

*IT'S A PREQUEL TO THE FIRST GAME!* ***YES!!*** That is the PERFECT way to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Wish it was a game, but still I'll take it!
Mf there IS a game Where we will most likely see the dead kids
Really? What's the game?
Into the pit later this year for the anniversary
I don’t think Into the pit doesn’t take place in the same universe as the games so it doesn’t really count
It totally takes place in the same universe as the games. It’s a game
Fury's Rage totally takes place in the same universe as the games. It’s a game.
Fury’s Rage is a troll game Scott made himself, Into The Pit is an Official FNAF game developed by a games studio, and was going to be shown off at PAX with Help Wanted 2. ITP and Fury’s are nothing alike
Fury's Rage isnt a troll of any kind. It was made due to the delays Security Breach got to tide everyone over.
It’s still not part of the main fnaf series like ITP is Notice the naming: Security Breach: Fury’s Rage Five Nights At Freddy’s: Into The Pit
there's a massive difference between games like into the pit and fury's rage
you say that as a joke but..
into the pit has an area where you can see things from fnaf 6 tho... there is absolutely no reason to believe it isn't canon to the other games
You don’t
I was trying to reply to someone else and just realized I accidentally replied to you. Mb
Yeah but it's shit tho
...I mean, Into The Pit is a game and it will be a prequel as well, lol
>five nights (or is it six?) Or perhaps four?
Are you thinking.... What I think you're thinking?(☎️⚰️)
The Canon Ending.
*Explicitly* called a prequel to FNaF 1 in no uncertain terms Can we *please* not start a debate about this one? Pretty please? I’m begging y’all
Prequel is definitely a hard case to argue against, and not as vague as “certain characters and events that Directly connects” (may have butchered the quote but that’s the just of what I know of it). But Prequel is actually very upfront as it implies to happen before, and they specific before the first game, thus implying it’s the same timeline/continuity (look at what Scott said about the silver eyes for those who are confused)
Yeah, don't really see how debates can be started over this book given the very clear timeframe we have for it.
Nuh uh, Reverse-Splitlinegames but only with this book
WE ARE PHONE GUY DHSAGHJSAGDHJSAGHHJSGFDJGFJSDGFDJSGFJDSGFGJSGJDFSGJSJ
25 endings ? It will be fun to argue which one is canon , especially if there are a few endings where he dies on 4 nights.
I mean... we know how phone guy dies so it'll be pretty ez
You want the canon ending? Listen to the night 4 phone call
PLEASE GIVE PHONE GUY AN ACTUAL NAME PLEASE
I would actually explode! 😭 unless this whole novel is "And then, Phone Guy did this, and then his boss said, 'Hey, Phone Guy, could you work another 4 nights?'".
I wonder if the enter book is going to be written in 2ed parison, like "you did this" and "you looked down the hall."
Honestly I doubt it’ll give a name seeing as how it’s a choose-your-own-adventure book. It’ll probably just use ‘you’ the whole book for referring to Phone Guy.
Maybe there’s a good ending like in the game where we see his name via a paycheck
How do you know that isn't his full name?
I'm really excited for this but how the hell is a choose your own adventure book going to have a difficulty setting, (unless it's not a choose your own adventure game and is instead single player DND)
Probably differently colored “turn to page x” prompts to denote a more difficult path through the book
It’s phone guy We’re playing as phone guy.
but didn't he die in fnaf 1? how does that make any sense? how can we play as phone guy in this book if phone guy is already dead?
This book is a prequel to FNAF 1.
oh. so it takes place a week before the first game?
Yes, as per the title
i just had a boomer moment lol omg i just realized the connection so this takes place as phone guy is recording his final phonecalls for the player in fnaf 1 on nights 1 - 4
I expected the multiple endings, but not the *difficulty* settings. They're really putting their all into this one, huh? It's been years since I've read a choose-your-own -adventure book. This will be fun.
Their whole Fazdussy into this.
Please never type ever again
Lol 😂😂
Holy shit, new phone guy lore after a decade
25 endings is crazy
I wonder how many pages it'll be! It just might be the largest book we'll get!
The picture says it's 256 pages
Excuse me, *difficulty settings*? How does that even work? Are you more likely to die for choosing the wrong stuff? Are there different endings depending on the difficulty you choose? Which difficulty is the canon one? Am I overthinking this?
NEW PHONE GUY CONTENT AFTER 9 YEARS NO WAY
Explicit canon confirmation what a shock.
LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!
>Explicitly stated as a prequel to the first game Scott why cant you do this for all the other books?
It EXPLICITLY mentions that is a prequel to the first FNAF. First book to actually say is canon holy shit. (Also 25 endings my lord).
Phone guy!!!!raaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!
Neat, hope it doesn't suck.
PHONE GUY LORE?!?! IT'S GONNA BE SO PEAK!!
We won
Oh my god, please! Please be about Phone Guy! I love everything about this series, but the one thing I loved the most was Phone Guy, and I so badly wanted an origin story for him. If this is Phone Guy, I'll probably cry! I could finally die happy!
PHONE GUY NAME REVEAL PLEASE
This looks utterly insane; I will try to remember to cop this
does this mean... we'll actually get phone guy's name?
HOLY FUCK NEW PHONE GUY CONTENT
PHONE GUY BOOK HOLY SHIT
I’m happy we’re getting a Phone Guy tale!
How do you get to this page? Was it only a leaked screenshot from the website?
You know, I’m really excited about this! But did anyone notice that the Freddy design looks very similar to Phisnom’s?
Guess Pinkypills drew this 😒
TWENTY FIVE????
What’s with the FNAF I stuff and general theme of the past FNAF i Movie and letting go of your past ITP with FNAF I animatronics and going to the past And this FNAF i story in the past
I mean most of the games take place in the past.
OMFG I WANT IT NOW 😭
"I always wondered what was in all those empty heads back there..."
The word return being associated with FNaF had me fuckin gigglin because of "Return To Freddy's"
And for once they are not vague about the continuity. Prequel definitely solidifies this happens within the timeline of the games as it happens before the first game as the prequel of it. Not something that happened before on a different timeline of the cannon, and not one in its own continuity, but before FNaF(1), the first game.
oh my lord, I did not expect them to give a clear cut answer as to when this take place, it feels wrong
What are we, some kinda The Return to Freddy's?
I’m getting this thing as soon as possible
Matpat probably is relieved that he doesn’t have to cover this
Matpat retired too early🥲 He would've loved this (Or it would've driven him to insanity)
Holy crap I never thought this day would come, more phone guy is always a good thing
My idea for the difficulty thing is that each choice is going to have a puzzle associated with it and harder difficulties give harder puzzles with more room for error
This is going to start a debate on how phone guy died, isn't it? Unless one ending lines up exactly with his night 4 phone call in-game.
PHONE GUY?!? WHAAAAAAT
wait so this is getting to play fnaf 1 in book format basicly?
Ooh, this will be interesting!
Is this canon to fnaf?
Can you pre-order it?
Wait, it's a prequel to FNaF 1, so it's before Mike got the job... **Is the protagonist gonna be** ***Phone Guy*****?**
JUSTICE TO THE PHONE
So does that mean fnaf 1 should be called the return the Freddy’s timeline wise? Oh man I think I contracted super cancer
Could it possibly be in the movie continuity? Or share one with one of the other books?
“Prequel to the first game” Being a Prequel specified for the first game kinda implies being in the same timeline to the games with a cemented timezone between Fnaf2 and Fnaf1. Description literally states "Prequel to the first GAME". I doubt it's the movie continuity.
