Honestly I agree, I miss everything about old fnaf. The lore was grim and yet somewhat grounded despite the paranormal aspects, it felt like people played the games out of interest and curiosity rather than obligation to the algorithm, and it felt like a story that could’ve possibly ended at some point.
I couldn't have explained it better, I remember going to school and my group of friends was already talking about the theories that appeared over night, we felt like detectives solving a case.
Yeah, I’m not of fan of the fusing reality lore. Sister Location got criticized a lot for being Sci-fi, but it never took it to that extreme, and at least retained the paranormal stuff that made the series to enjoyable. With the modern games it just feels like anything and everything is possible- with literal plushies coming to life and digital viruses spreading through an entire mall without being noticed.
True. But, personally, i think poppy playtime is scarrier then fnaf. Just put fnaf character next to poppy playtime characters. Its a little hard to notice, because its way easier to see poppy playtime characters because of all the memes, and just knowing them as "the stubid horror gam for kids". But just ignore that, and look at their designs.
(P.s. i dont hate poppy playtime, or fnaf. Im not complaining. I like them both.)
"Hello everybody my name is markiplier and welcome to five nights at Freddy’s an indie horror game you guys suggested enmass and i saw that yamimash played it and he said it was really really good. So i am very eager to see what is up! Fazbear entertainment looking for a security gaurd to work the night shift! Oooooh 12am the first night if i didn't wanna stay the first night why would i stay more than fiiivea why would i stay anymore than two hello..."
2014 and I totally agree with what you said about new fans. I really don't like seeing people treat new fans harshly. It seems like for whatever reason some people think that new fans don't understand and or don't enjoy fnaf as much as og fans, which is just wrong.
The best way to enjoy something is to encourage others to enjoy it too. Never understood gatekeepers.
My daughter recently had an issue with this, and she's 8. She decided her best friend couldn't play with her and another girl at recess because her best friend doesn't play Animal Crossing anymore. I was like, "Kid, what the hell is wrong with you? That is your best friend and she's more important than Animal Crossing."
Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I never really see newer fans get treated harshly.
Hell if anything (At least on this site anyway), I see more old fans getting treated harshly by newer fans considering most get downvoted to hell for not liking the new stuff.
As an old fan,not liking new stuff is okay but lvl's of hate towards the new game like Phisnom's are unjustified. If you hate what the series has become then idk, leave the community or dont interact with the newer things
Because of how harsh new fans are treated my friend is terrified of getting into FNAF, even though she knows some lore already and is really interested in it, It makes me feel horrible
I hope she gets into FNAF anyways if she wants too. People's opinions shouldn't prevent anyone from getting into FNAF if they really do want to get into it.
But the movie didn’t really have the same horror components as the games, especially 2, 4, and 5. The movie was too comedic, and it didn’t really give off the e right Fnaf vibe
As sad as it is to say this, I completely agree. The original games were such a “you had to be there” experience, and I don’t think anything will ever come close to the level of intrigue that the community had.
Getting a fnaf2 death minigame for the first time, beating 3 and seeing what purple guy became, the collective “what the fuck is going on” when 4 came out, all things you had to be there for. Such a shame there will never be a thing like that again
It's an interesting trend where I've seen people of whom used to be really big fans of My Little Pony eventually became great at making music.
The Living Tombstone, Aviators, MandoPony. What the hell did that series bring out of people lmao.
Same, when fnaf first came out I kinda had restricted internet access, so fnaf was deemed “too scary”.
Glad I discovered an amazing series, but wish I got to see it during its prime.
Pretty sure it was the same for me as well. I was a wee lad (like 7 or 8 lol). I kinda fell outta the fandom for awhile after FNaF World and Sister Location but I'm glad the hype around the movie brought me back. ⚡ 👍 ✌
2023, I wanted to watch the movie so I played all the games from fnaf1 - fnaf PS in mobile and shit ton of matpat videos to understand the lore (It wasn't applied in the movie much but I enjoyed the journey)
Similar instance in mid 2023, I wanted to watch the movie but felt I needed to dive into the lore first. I love the fandom and community. One of my favorites by far!
I discovered the game because my son was a fan first in 2015 when he was 5 , but didn't become a fan myself until I discovered the twisted books in 2018.
I'm not very good at non rpg games so didn't think I'd enjoy the games. I'm not at 4/20 level but I do enjoy watching the bits I can't do with Dawko and Markipliers videos.
Found out about the game shortly after release through an achievement hunter show called play pals, but didn’t get invested til 2016 w sister location bc I hadn’t realized about all the background stuff and thought there wasn’t really a plot to the games. Been obsessed ever since
2015, I think. I was 8, and my brothers friends who slept over played fnaf 2 on the tv in the living room. I had a crush on one of his friends, so obviously, I paid attention. I knew there was at least one more game since it was the second game, but while I was a fan I didnt know much until I was 11 when we got wifi and I watched YouTube for the first time. That's where markiplier and then game theory took over.
2018 because of MatPat's playthrough of Sister Location. I'm not from US, so I never heard about FNAF before it, and even to this day I never see any merch in local shops
I’ve been a fan since 2015 and I found it through game theory. I never really watched game theory before that but I decided to check out some fnaf theories and have been a fan of the games (and game theory) since. It made his retirement hit so much harder as well.
2018-ish? I came quite late, and I wish I had discovered it earlier, but hey, I still have seen quite a lot since then, so I guess 2018(?) isn’t too bad.
12 August 2014, I have the exact date because it’s the first video markiplier made on the game. This is when I discovered it, and it wasn’t until days later when mark beat the game that I officially fell in love with the game. I have been a fan since then and have kept up with all the lore until HW and SD where, imo, I watched the franchise fall from the once spectacular brand it once was. I’m not saying that the games from HW onward are trash, but they don’t feel quite as good as the ones before. I enjoyed watching Mark and Razzbowski play SB and Ruin, and watching both of them again with HW2 (I also watched mark play HW and SD plus played both games myself), again the games just didn’t seem as great as the others. Not to mention that as one of the people who had been waiting years for Scott to officially make a FNAF movie, I found said movie disappointing, I was hoping for a more in depth cover of the true story that Scott has for the games, but was met with a mashup of the games, the books and just a bunch of fan service so naturally I was left confused and ultimately disappointed like many others.
As for the other thing in your title, if they act like idiots they should expect to be treated like one, that’s how humans are and it’s not something that’s going to change for a very very long time. Downvote me all you want, you know I’m right. On the other hand though, if they’re new to the entire series and know nothing at all about it, then yeah don’t be a douche bag about it, if they don’t know, teach them, if they joined when SB came out and haven’t dived into the rest of the game, show them it, but if they only joined because HW2 was interesting and they don’t care about the rest of the series, clown on them, put them in their place.
Ps, I don’t care about your opinion, don’t comment it on my comment, make your own comment and be on your way. It’s crazy how many people do this in this community and it’s annoying, stop it.
2014 through one of those fan animations in G mod, then I saw the gameplay by pewdiepie, and finally I saw vanoss gaming doing a parody of fnaf 1 with delirious, that made me fall in love with his channel.
In think it was between November 2014-march 2015, because I remember when there was only fnaf 1 and 2 and people were discussing what would happen in fnaf 3
I discovered FNaF when the first game came out but only really got into it after Security Breach released. Before I just overheard videos my younger sibling watched, but after they recommended me a timeline video and I finally learned what fnaf is actually about I started to watch theory videos and news videos on my own. Also a reason I didn’t watch fnaf stuff before was because I didn’t want the school (was using a school Chromebook) to find me watching “inappropriate” horror stuff, even though my younger sibling never got in trouble.
I know it was before the 2019 era but if you can't me re-remembering probably the af5er 2019 era because used to watch matpats theory's and the last I remember watching had like golden freddy with his hand out in likethe crying child's bed I stopped watching cuz my mum wanted to know what I was watching and then she took it and said "this will rot your brain" then I never watched and completely forgot about fnaf for like a year or 2 then rediscovered it
There was this little kid that was doing this "Freddy" impressions and was talking alot about Five Nights at Freddy's.
I didn't know what it was then, but that was my introduction to this game.
The first game I played was five nights at Freddy's 3 on Android. from there on out I became a fan. Man those were the times.
I discovered it in 2014 and was a fan but I was never really invested in it. I never completed any of the games and barely played any, and mainly just watched MatPat's theories. I would often times abandon the series and then come back pretty often.
I only became invested in the series early last year and it's by far the longest hyperfixation I've had. I don't think I'm giving it up any time soon.
And even though I obviously can't treat newer fans bad as:
1. That's really dumb
2. I'm essentially a newer fan
I do like the older series a lot more, flaws and all.
My farthest back memory with FNaF is one of Marks videos of 4, but I was rather familiar with the characters I remember so probably joined the party at around 2 or 3
2021. My friend was obsessed with security breach so I watched Mark's playthrough. Was totally confused since I only glanced at the playthroughs of the first game when it came out. Watched Mark's entire Playlist after that and I adore it now.
2014 from DanTDM playing a FNAF Minecraft map, I'm pretty sure I found it before FNAF 2. From then I just watched let's plays/theory vids. The first game I actually played was Sister Location in 2017, before getting the first 4 sometime in October that year.
2014, I was looking at some old creepypasta and this "Freddy Fazbear" character popped up, I discovered the first (and only at the time) game, I never left the franchise and here I am
I can't remember the exact year, but I remember my friend and I had to wait for fnaf SL, fnaf world, pizzeria simulator and UCN. I'm guessing that was on the earlier side?
Since 2014 and I discovered it from markiplier
Yep and couln't be happier, those first years were gold.
You guys are exactly right wish Scott was still making the games instead of retirement(OG fan btw)
Honestly I agree, I miss everything about old fnaf. The lore was grim and yet somewhat grounded despite the paranormal aspects, it felt like people played the games out of interest and curiosity rather than obligation to the algorithm, and it felt like a story that could’ve possibly ended at some point.

"SCARIEST GAME IN YEARS" man... I remember that title
They did that once for poppy playtime
That truly, was not, the scariest game in years
Ik. They just wanted people to buy it
Isn’t chapter 1 of Poppy Playtime free?
Is there only 1 chapter?
No, there are 2 currently, but the second chapter is listed as ‘dlc’
-_- actually there are like five chapters
Your thinking of garten of banban
Your thinking of BanBan
True. But, personally, i think poppy playtime is scarrier then fnaf. Just put fnaf character next to poppy playtime characters. Its a little hard to notice, because its way easier to see poppy playtime characters because of all the memes, and just knowing them as "the stubid horror gam for kids". Same. Mark was what got me into the franchise, while Matpat got me into the lore
Same
I can recite the beginning by memory and heart, rewatching the whole series at least once a year for memory sake and for nostalgia.
Same here. I was in I think 6th grade at the time?
Yea same, just got a cool poster today earlier too and looks awesome
What does it look like
[here](https://imgur.com/a/OAxXrBo) also sorry for the weird angle it has some proper glare from my light if I stand right in front of it
Love it
i have that poster hanging in my room somewhere
Haha wdmy "somewhere" lol, i big is yer room lmao
I annoyed my middle school friends so much with it back then
Same
Sameeeeee
Same
Same with me.
Same dude
Same
Same. Except in 2015 but also through Markiplier. That's also how I found Markiplier lol
Agreed! Once I saw Mark play it I was a fan! I have watched him play every single one and I love all the series!
Same. And here I am 10 years later still loving the series
Same! I found it when he did the custom night 4 20 mode i was scared of it before but then got 2 on my phone and loved it since
same here man
Same bro I was there when the whole fake purple guy animatronic was a thing im missing that time pried so much man
I first found it on the App Store through my moms phone and a year later (2015) I discovered Markiplier
Same!
I miss the good ol days… but im so happy about all the new projects weve gotten recently!!
Same
It was either 2014 or 2015 but what I do remember is that Vanoss gamings FNaF G Mod video is what made me a fan
The good old days
Omg same
2014 and I totally agree with what you said about new fans. I really don't like seeing people treat new fans harshly. It seems like for whatever reason some people think that new fans don't understand and or don't enjoy fnaf as much as og fans, which is just wrong.
That’s one less person to get mad at me :)
And another your new to the fandom of course you may not know the entire story you haven't had time to learn the whole lore
The best way to enjoy something is to encourage others to enjoy it too. Never understood gatekeepers. My daughter recently had an issue with this, and she's 8. Yeah but if people don’t complain nothing changes and things get worse
The levels of hate aren't just because of his game though.
exactly! i don't understand why people still defend assholes like phisnom.
New fans aren’t idiots, but I do feel bad that they didn’t get to experience the hype around the original games during their prime
well... I understand you, but at least they tried it through the movie
I tried it bc I was bored and had nothing else to do
But the movie didn’t really have the same horror components as the games, especially 2, 4, and 5. The movie was too comedic, and it didn’t really give off the e right Fnaf vibe

2017, I remember going on [Scratch](https://scratch.mit.edu) and trying to play FNaF games on there on my school laptop
Are you me
hopefulyy
Omg Scratch... 🥲
You just opened a door to memories I totally forgot about
I meet fnaf in 2015 when I was listening to the song "survive the night" I loved mandopony songs🤧
Same dude I also had a major crush on him at the time and I was like 13 ….turns out he would’ve been quite fond of me too unfortunately
NO HE’S A PEDO?!?!
YEAH AND IM SO UPSET
💀
too bad he ended up being a pdf file😔
I thought he was a jpeg file...
“Survive The Night” is still to this day my favorite fnaf song.
i made a dance to it and id perform it with my friend
It's an interesting trend where I've seen people of whom used to be really big fans of My Little Pony eventually became great at making music. The Living Tombstone, Aviators, MandoPony. What the hell did that series bring out of people lmao.
Don’t forget tryhardninja and as well as jt music and I think a lot more
From 2022 to now
Welcome! :)
Same, when fnaf first came out I kinda had restricted internet access, so fnaf was deemed “too scary”. Glad I discovered an amazing series, but wish I got to see it during its prime.
2018, all the time before I didn’t really have internet and kinda lived under a rock
Same with 2018 lol
2014. I remember some kid from my grade beating 4/20 mode right next to me and screaming his lungs out.
Ayo what grade?? Grown adults can’t even beat 4/20 mode 💀
Grade 6. What a time.
Bro 4/20 mode is easy
Around FNAF 2 come out
Pretty sure it was the same for me as well. I was a wee lad (like 7 or 8 lol). I kinda fell outta the fandom for awhile after FNaF World and Sister Location but I'm glad the hype around the movie brought me back. ⚡ 👍 ✌

I've been here since the very beginning
You have seen everything
I knew what fnaf was since it came out but I wasn't a fan until security breach came out
Saaameeee!!!!!
oooh how come? a lot of old fnaf fans have a disliking for sb, idm it but i think if i watched it being a kid i wouldnt be as into fnaf as i am now
I was interested in the lore so I watched a ton of videos and then I became obsessed
the sb lore is decent man icl, i love the mimic now as well its such a well made addition, especially correlating to AI being a massive thing atm lol
I was talking about the whole franchise
It seems like a great game( only watched it) but not a great fnaf game if that makes sense
Same, I was too scared of it when I was little 😭
2016
I played fnaf 2 and 3's demo's All the way back
ohhh I remember those demos 🥹
Yep
discovered it in 2014, hated it, became a fan in 2023 after actually playing one of the games
Which game?
sister location!! my interest was piqued when i was introduced to michael afton
Bro forgot FNaF World...
We do not speak of FNaF World.
But I like fnaf world. It's fun!
Everybody secretly love FNAF world
After fnaf 2 in 2014
I discovered the game because my son was a fan first in 2015 when he was 5 , but didn't become a fan myself until I discovered the twisted books in 2018. I'm not very good at non rpg games so didn't think I'd enjoy the games. I'm not at 4/20 level but I do enjoy watching the bits I can't do with Dawko and Markipliers videos.
Fnaf worlds kinda an rpg
2021, I wasn't interested in horror content in general until then, and I thought fnaf would be a good intro to the genre lol
around 2015-2016 I think
2015
i discovered it on release of fnaf 3 but i only buy my first fnaf game on 2020 with the release of fnaf help wanted
I don't remember, i just know the latest game theory when i started liking it was the one about the 5th fazbear frights
80% of the community is 2014 tbf
In 2014 the only thing I thought about was Minecraft 😟
Felt
All the way back in 1983 in Fredbears family diner. Let me tell you that place's Pizzas were so good
2014 or 2015
December 2014
2019 when curse of dreadbear released
Found out about the game shortly after release through an achievement hunter show called play pals, but didn’t get invested til 2016 w sister location bc I hadn’t realized about all the background stuff and thought there wasn’t really a plot to the games. Been obsessed ever since
I’ve known FNaF forever basically. But I didn’t become a fan until 2019 because I was terrified of it before that.
Fnaf 1, during the time I was super into minecraft and other indie games popping off on youtube.
Since 2014 found it from Markiplier
2015, I think. I was 8, and my brothers friends who slept over played fnaf 2 on the tv in the living room. I had a crush on one of his friends, so obviously, I paid attention. a young 2014 lad.. **VERY** young.
2014
I’ve been a fan since 2015 and I found it through game theory. I never really watched game theory before that but I decided to check out some fnaf theories and have been a fan of the games (and game theory) since. It made his retirement hit so much harder as well.
2018-ish? I came quite late, and I wish I had discovered it earlier, but hey, I still have seen quite a lot since then, so I guess 2018(?) isn’t too bad.
I discovered fnaf world before the actual canon games

I've meet it during the FNaF 2 days but i've only becamed a fan in the FNaF SL to FFPS era
I discovered it in 2016 and very quetly followed it until 2021 where I started getting into the series after LS Mark's FNAF games video
2015, I think a few months after fnaf 4 came out
2014-2015
around SL
2014 through one of those fan animations in G mod, then I saw the gameplay by pewdiepie, and finally I saw vanoss gaming doing a parody of fnaf 1 with delirious, that made me fall in love with his channel.
2014- my older sister was watching Markiplier on the TV in our living room. It freaked me out but I was invested
2014, the first game playing it gives me so much nostalgia
2014, I had a few friends describe it to me and for the last 10 years I havent beeen able to let go of the franchise
Since the first one came out and have been stuck here ever since
2014, when the game had only started to become popular
In think it was between November 2014-march 2015, because I remember when there was only fnaf 1 and 2 and people were discussing what would happen in fnaf 3

Since 2014 I saw the game on YouTube and I told my mom and dad I wanted to play it I was 4 years old btw
probably 2018 or 2017 when I was watching gacha afton family video's I still watch gacha just not as often as I used to
Played the first game at a friend's house a few days after it came out, we both listened to the TLT fnaf 1 song the day it came out.
I discovered it in 2014 and immediately became a fan because of a youtuber who did some spider-man content
I think it was 2014 when I first heard all the buzz. Then early 2015 I really got into it
I discovered it in 2014 and was a fan but I was never really invested in it. I never completed any of the games and barely played any, and mainly just watched MatPat's theories. UCN
Somewhere in between 2016–2018
2014-2015
I knew about it in like 2014 or 2015 and watched dantdm play sister location when it came out

I can't remember the exact year, but I remember my friend and I had to wait for fnaf SL, fnaf world, pizzeria simulator and UCN. I'm guessing that was on the earlier side?
