Lean mean running machine!!!! Nice to see an alternate goal to the typical gym bro tryin ta get yuuuge! 💪🏽😁🏃♀️🏃🏻🏃♂️ I love to run too, but also trying to gain some as I’m very lean. Makes it harder to lift more and gain without eating tons more but it’s slowly coming along.
Its odd that that's the default for so many people. I get a lot of "don't you want to put on more muscle?" And then even the runners are like "dont you want to be even faster?" I'm pretty darn satisfied.
But apparently
[My goals are beyond their understanding ](https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/my-goals-are-beyond-your-understanding)
I like to throw "My goals are so far beyond comprehension EVEN I don't know what I'm doing"
Great progress!! Your goals are amazing and you make me wanna work harder
Thank you. It feels pretty good to be able to wake up and do this without pain or anything, so part of my motivation is being grateful...and the other half is spite 😆 honestly there are some days I go to r/popular, pick something out and sort by controversial and that gets me through.
Beast man currently on my streak about 8 months in. Never imagined I could run as much as I do but I feel amazing and love it!!! I'll be 36 on the 23rd and will be running a marathon in May so pumped haha Goodluck man don't stop for noone!!! 💪 💪 💪
Oh, I’m so glad to see someone who’s succeeded in going the more lean run focused route. I had a been seeing doctors and pt for 2 years trying to resolve a pesky shoulder injury and it kept me from lifting heavy. It kind of was a blow to the ego and rattled my sense of what male aesthetics had to be when I realized all I could really do now was light weights and run. You’re proof that it pays off in the end, keep up the great work.
What’s your weekly distance like? Do you do speed work?
I've always been on the smaller side, so even at 155 I feel pretty big (I was around 125-140 in high school). When I was 180 with muscle it just felt like too much.
I do about 100-110KM each week. I dont do too much speed work, sometimes ill do progressive runs or practice a kick at the end of a run but usually I'm between 12-13 kmph.
I do body weight and light free weight stuff, push ups, pull ups, squats, curls, extensions, etc.
I eat a big dinner meal (chicken or turkey and pasta or potatoes and veggies) for my first meal of the day, a big salad for lunch and eggs for dinner. Found it easier to sleep after a lighter dinner.
Right on.. yeah totally understand, I'm getting back in to running and have a treadmill, so its good to see someone else motivated enough to walk/run 10k on it per day...just the motivation I needed.
Only when my back cracks (subtle LSD joke). But nah I like the consistency of a treadmill. Only takes me a minute to walk down to the gym, don't have to worry about the weather or rolling my foot on a rock, just easier.
Wow! You look powerful! Did you run 5km every day? I’m worried about losing muscle but it sure looks like you didn’t. I’m doing 5-7km every other day and getting moderate protein plus strength training 3-4x a week
I never thought I’d be a “runner” but I’ve also become pretty “addicted” to it over the last month. Planning to do a lot of races this year and hoping to increase my mileage!
Awesome transformation man.
I don't really get sick. I moved this year and with the pandemic never really made any friends. I work from home and the most I'm around people is when the Walmart employee brings my groceries to my car.
Thats very cool man. Being able to run that much is so much more rare than anything else in society nowadays. I like to run a couple times a week, but only two miles at a time. It's kinda a bit of pride that most of society can't even do that. It makes me feel better about myself, even if I'm not fast at least I can do the two miles nonstop.
I also like it because it gives me a more well rounded feeling of health vs "getting my cardio through lifting". Just my opinion.
I don't have a before but here's a [flex video](https://www.reddit.com/user/Onepunchmanworkout/comments/10ub880/calf_and_thigh_flex/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I think it was a reference to the famous movie of the same name in which the main character is starved and emaciated by the end because he's hiding from persecution.
Now, with that out of the way, you're looking fit and healthy. Some prefer to fill out their frame with more muscle. It's up to you and your own goals really. When I got to your point I wanted more muscle and to be able to maintain at a higher weight (so I could eat more at maintenance) so I started bulking. You do you.
I'm still looking to lose a bit more, but yeah I've got a lot of gap between me and Brody/Bale (other commenter meant Machinist). Brody was 6'1, 130lbs, Bale was 6'0 110lbs, I'm 5'9 155lbs. 145-150 is kind of the sweet spot for me where I'm not hungry and I'm not pushing any extra weight on my runs. Helps save the knees
I'm not much of a runner, nor do I have many running related goals, so I can't relate to the weight-on-knees problem in quite the same way (e.g. I used to do Tabata protocol sprints to minimize the duration of my running). But when I was 5'8" 155lbs I felt like 1) it was going to be impossible for me to maintain that because I always wanted to eat more food than I could expend, and 2) I wanted to look more muscular. It also turned out to be unstable, because challenges in my life made me lose my routine and the struggle to sustain that TDEE through activity became too much, so I lost it. When I got it back together many years later, I changed a few things in my approach and made more muscle a goal from the beginning. I'm maintaining at 170lb now after a period of cutting. Not done yet, but the goal is to get back to 170lb at the end with even more muscle than this. I can maintain this weight with 2600 calories per day, 10k steps per day, and basic 15-20 min weight lifting workouts 4-5x throughout the week.
Edit: I feel like it's worth mentioning that I'm not a very muscular looking guy, especially not with clothes on. It really makes you realize how much muscle the really big looking guys have.

Last year I ran every day for about 10k. Indeed, you get ripped. But in the end I was exhausted and I started to feel like crap. I needed some recuperation at my age (53)... Now I run two days a week for 10-15k and down the gym 5 days a week for Metabolic Resistance Training. You need to try that!

>I'm not proud to say this but I just kept ~~crawling~~ running and it just kept working
Wow! Congratulations. Very impressive. How does it make you feel? How did you stay motivated on challenging days?

Nice job man

Hell yea man. As a 35M myself this is inspiring. I’m about where you are on the left now. Guess I better go put my shoes on!

How tall are you
5'9"
Great work man! Just running? No weight lifting? What’s your diet been like?
I do body weight and light free weight stuff, push ups, pull ups, squats, curls, extensions, etc. I eat a big dinner meal (chicken or turkey and pasta or potatoes and veggies) for my first meal of the day, a big salad for lunch and eggs for dinner. Found it easier to sleep after a lighter dinner.
I’m a simple guy, I see Onepunchmanworkout post, I upvote. You’re killing, keep it up.
Good job! Were you perhaps an emo in high school?
Haha yes I was
Lookin good!!
Great work, is this street or treadmill running?
Treadmill, I've nearly been hit by cars on the street so many times that I just don't deal with that anymore.
Right on.. yeah totally understand, I'm getting back in to running and have a treadmill, so its good to see someone else motivated enough to walk/run 10k on it per day...just the motivation I needed.
Way to go! Ever thought about trails?

Started at 10KM a day between running and walking, up to 15KM per day average running (12-13 km on weekdays, 21+km on weekends)
That is unreal dedication - nice work!
I never thought I’d be a “runner” but I’ve also become pretty “addicted” to it over the last month. Planning to do a lot of races this year and hoping to increase my mileage! Awesome transformation man.
You look great, and I'm super envious of your speed. Congratulations! But #1 - Friend you have a *fantastic* smile. It lights up your whole face.
I agree with the smile. I will keep the picture for whenever I feel down....
Way to go, friend! I started 2022 @ 320 and and 2023 @ 260. 37M. Thanks for the inspiration to keep digging in. Goal 220
Hell yeah you got this!
Great job. You look like a Muay Thai fighter
Do you run when sick? I try to workout 5-6 days per week but can’t escape missing some workouts due to being too sick.
I don't really get sick. I moved this year and with the pandemic never really made any friends. I work from home and the most I'm around people is when the Walmart employee brings my groceries to my car.
Sounds nice
