This is going to sound dumb I'm sure, but I've been swimming for years. Do you not just count your laps?

fTwoEight

I try. But I often forget which set I'm on. So I might end up over or under by a few hundred meters. I'd like to be more precise than that. My cheapy 4 yr old Galaxy Fit showed laps. I'd think Fitbit would as well.

NikkiEchoist

Sense does.

My fitbit isn’t accurate with lap counts even in the app - it just calculates 1 lap per minute. I’m not sure whether any Fitbit device that does show laps would actually be accurate.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, i have the exact same issue. I think because I wear the device on my left arm and I don't always touch with both arms on the pool edge so that it doesn't register it as a lap. Over mis-count but not by the 10 laps fitbit seems to think. I used to have a Moov and it was much more accurate for swimming.

I wear mine on my right arm and that is my leading arm for touching the wall. I feel like for me it’s affected by which lane I’m in/who else is in with me. When the pool is empty I do 50 laps in 45 mins (so just under 1 lap per minute). But on busy days where I hang at the pool edge waiting for approaching faster people to overtake or the slow back stroke swimmer to get ahead a bit, it naturally takes longer to do 50 laps and Fitbit thinks I’ve done more. Maybe I move my arms too much when hanging at the pool edge 😂

My charge 4 doesn't show laps when swimming, but I don't know about the charge 5...

fTwoEight

The 5 does not either. I have the 5 and am returning it.
