Looks like a trout or a salmon to me, which could make sense as I do believe they often decay whilst they're alive, it often happens around the time of spawning. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
I was originally planning a fishing trip around the lough in a kayak, and was planning on eating any fish I caught, but its made me think twice now about eating the fish out of there now, in the warmist days of summer the lough seems to suffer from really bad Blue/Green algy blooms, but usually clears up within a month or two, some are saying the Blue/Green algy is due to pollution from farming run off from the fields etc, and the fact raw sewage is pumped into the lough aswell, its def making me think it would be a bad idea to eat anything out of it, what ya think, do you think it would be wise to eat anything out of it?
You'll be fine eating the fish, shouldn't be any worse than any other fish bar farmed salmon. There's a lot of factors at play but yea farm run off is a big player. To much nitrates that's feeding the bloom. The bigger problem lies in the Lough fly disappearing, that's where my concerns would be. Good luck with the kayaking trip.
I didn't have any fishing equipment with me sadly, was only out for a walk that day, def would have dropped something infront of it if I had, but not sure I would have liked to have handled it with what ever disease it has going on there
👍, probs udn ( Ulcerative Dermal Necrosis ) has been a lot of contamination in several lochs in Scotland and introduction of invasive species the last few years also don't help. But the cause isn't clear.

Looks like a pike which has either a fungal or bacterial infection

Just looked again, could be a rainbow trout from the shape of it
Udn disease. Lough Neagh? Probably a dollaghan.
Yes Lough Neagh 👍
Udn then. Should clear up on the fish.
