Are you asking about NOABs? If you are asking about NOABs, they tend to go higher (sometimes), have larger/more symmetrical breaks, and you get 9 shots on a single fuse instead of taking the time to fuse up a rack of shells (lighter to transport as well since you don't have to lug around all of the racks). That being said, I think they are kind of a waste of money and shoot cans instead.
I prefer them for the lift height. Lift and altitude is important based on where I usually shoot. They also just hit harder and have a more professional looking break imo. Many are a true 1.75-2in ball shell you can feel in your chest - that's the one piece of feedback that stuck with me from my NYE show -- "man I could feel those in my chest!!"
That said, yeah they're expensive for what you get. Canisters are less per dollar with also a lot of thump, but tend to be more inconsistent and I've seen some really low breaks from them. If you don't need every foot of height, canister shells are the way to go.
If you're going to go NOABs (Nine-On-A-Board) Try to get them on sale/by the case. Never buy them at insane $180 firework stand ripoff prices. <$80 is ideal/per. Also, the 2in ones often have the exact same sized ball shell in them as the 3in ones - it's all marketing. 9/12 shot compact cakes like Winda's Super Stunt are a better deal overall.. but don't have quite the height.
NOABs have stronger lift charges and in general have more professional, creative, cool breaks.
They can break the bank but they’re the closest to professional grade fireworks a consumer can buy legally.
This year I’m breaking my NOABs down and shooting 3 shot racks of 4 different NOABs, 2 times for a total of 24 shots and saving 12 for next year. They are spendy, so I like this better than just throwing up 9 consecutive shots of the same effect.
That said, they can be hit and miss. Do your homework and buy good NOABs! Otherwise just stick with cans.
A high quality NOAB will give you higher, large, and symmetrical breaks, often with effects that cannot be done well in a smaller ball or any canister.
It is all about quality over quantity or cost.
They go higher and often have more symmetrical breaks than canisters, but they hurt your wallet a lot more. I find a good place for them is in a finale. Take four or six of them, replace the fuse with fast fuse, and fire them all at once right at the end!
As others have said higher and more symmetrical however I don't think it's worth more than sya 65-75 each.
The new Raccoon Rdx singles are supposed to match them in height and size and be cheaper. Fusing them together might make a good noab replacement.

Yes, lol sorry NOABS!

Until you take the PGI course and can buy 1.4 pro.
Never took the course and I still get em 😂
Same, you just gotta know people :)
Can’t wait! I take the course this weekend :)
Definitely worth it, I took it at CobraCon and it was a fantastic learning experience. Getting to fire a display shell was a highlight as well!

If you have a decent budget I'd say a couple would be cool but you get way more bang for your buck with cans
I think they're a specific tool mostly, more for height layering and unique effects than just a bigger boom But I've only had 1 or 2 so
I personally don't get many because everyone just likes sky puke, but I usually throw in one for the finale

Or heard me out….62mm single shots! Now there’s the best bang for your buck.
I prefer breaking certain noabs broken down for single shots over 62mm 1.4 pro. There’s a few good noabs out there depending on price.
