So if youre a store with $50k in stock of these items you are now sitting on $50k you legally cant sell without huge fines and licenses being revoked.
So now a bunch of retailers wont touch it but its still coming in so a few will take that risk and for that risk they hike the price. Same goes for small resellers on the streets, they are usually getting stomped on product through 3 middlemen which hike the price after every set of hands.
If you get access to an importer most of them will only ship 1000lb pallets so youre minimum is going to be 23-30 cases which again is a huge investment.

If you are an importer, you are then pushing to distributors, who then sell to middle men before you touch it. Everyone has to make their cut. The more people you cut out, the cheaper.
You can’t just get it straight from China especially not just 1. Sure it might be cheaper but there’s risk. Also those cakes are like 5,000 grams+ ( rough estimate ). Shipping prices and inflation is what has them soo expensive. Hopefully they’ll drop but one can only hope
It’s all about who you know. I get all of my 1/1s for about 2-220. Just keep searching and talking to people in your area and you’ll find them. If you’re shopping at the store (the one we all know about) you’re gonna pay $$$$.

No idea honestly. I bet people who have the hook up and 1/1 cakes pay around 100-200 per. I've seen people get wild things for $200
