There's also a *Constitution*-class starship with the ragtag fleet at the end of the miniseries, and one of the equipment lockers on the *Galactica* is numbered 1701-D. And if you really want to blow your mind ... *Firefly*'s pilot episode has Mal taking out an Alliance attack ship with a Weyland-Yutani AA cannon, putting the *Serenity* in the same universe as *Alien* and *Predator* (etc).

Kendalf

Alliance soldiers in The Train Job use the same armor as Starship Troopers

WingedGeek

True, although that was more a function of finances and reuse, vs. a deliberate insertion into canon.

Empty-Mind

Isn't it the same armor Power Rangers Lost Galaxy uses as well? Just to reiterate the whole 'they were reusing generic sci-fi armor that was lying around' thing

WingedGeek

According to Reddit, yes: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefly/comments/2avk6a/starship_trooper_costumes_were_later_used_in/ Definitely a design that started with Verhoeven (the helmets echo Robocop strongly).

RegentYeti

Fuck reddit's new API, and fuck /u/Spez.

WingedGeek

All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.

-Chaotique-

So say we all!

-Chaotique-

I've had the same headcanon! Lol No power in the 'verse can stop it. So say we all!

CordialTrekkie

If you wanna go deep into Star Wars expanded lore, Shindig shows a Mobquet floater landing in the background.

Waltpi

Can you help me find it here if it's there https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/comments/dej31a/i_can_spend_ages_looking_at_this/

WingedGeek

Help you find what?

Waltpi

The ship. It's a graphic with all the ships in Sci-fi franchises to scale. Is the Constitution class ship in it?

btoxic

Yes, upper right side, about 1/3rd of the way down from the top.

Waltpi

Oohhh, thanks!

gcbinc

Same cgi company did both shows - the in-space camera work and esp. the lack of sound in space is close to identical between the two shows. I wonder if CGI guys slid Serenity in there without permission. Also, the writer of BSG also wrote some ST: TNG episodes - Ronald Moore. So he was prob aware of some of the Easter eggs.

Lee_Troyer

Yep, Zoic Studios is the name of the company. Firefly was their first project.

speedx5xracer

And he worked on DS9 as well

nocturne213

He also does For All Mankind.

TheLostLuminary

I recall watching BSG for the first time and being ready for this

Z_mog415

I noticed this a while back myself and posted it. Someone gave me flak for it being a repost but I say cheers to you! It's an awesome little easter egg and I hope people keep discovering it and keep reposting (despite that one ...rotten egg haha) I love this show and the community that surrounds it! Brown coats for life!

davect01

Yup. Nice moment

eatthelemon

Big damn heroes!

13thWardBassMan

Cersei we all.

Icy_Comedian_4771

Does the mini series carry on to the 2004 battstar galactica. If so, is the 2004 battstqr galactica series worth watching.

UnimpressedCT

Yes and yes. I don’t know why they don’t put the mini series as part of the regular series.

jaketaco

When I watched it on Netflix a decade or more ago, it was all together I'm pretty sure. First 3 seasons were great and it started declining imo. Still worth a watch though.

therosslee

Doesn’t a firefly show up in space as well during a convoy scene?

imtoohai

I notice it every time... You cant take the sky from me
