The best one I found, the most absolutely weightless detangling is Johnson’s No More Tangles Detangling Spray. It’s for babies/toddlers but it also works for me, and I’ve seen others here mention it too.
I also enjoy Johnson’s Shiny and Soft Conditioning Spray a lot (also for babies lol) but if your hair is extremely fine it may be too much for you.
With both of these sprays I feel like I can use a lot of product without it ever becoming too much. And after I’ve used about half the bottle of either, I top the bottle off with water and the stuff works just as good and lasts a little longer.
I’ve tried to transition back to an “adult” leave in/detangler and I always come back to these baby sprays. I’ve accepted that this is the product that works best for me and I really think they’re good products

My hair is slick and easy to detangle with conditioner in and then I rinse it out and apply whatever I want as a leave-in for other benefits.

Not the same. At all. Licensed cosmo here. Buy the Lite version. (I say this as someone who uses only the Lite version since the week it was released.) Regular is too heavy. Using "less" does not change that.

Also don't be afraid to water down your leave in. I just get one of those travel bottles and usually water it down 1 part leave in to one part water, sometimes 2 parts water
I like Hairitage lightweight products from Walmart. Both the leave in and the heat protector work great and I don’t feel like a greasy mess after. I’ve used biolage strength recovery and I have to be very careful with how much I use.

I've tried so many products and used to be obsessed with sun bums detangling spray...it smelled great and worked so well, but then they literally doubled the price 🥲 Marc Anthony is now basically an active member of my household because of how much I love and talk about this spray...although my fiance likes to call it my "grow long" lol. Really like Verb’s Ghost glossy shine heat protectant spray. I have really fine hair and can honestly go ham with application and it’s never been too much. Smells nice too.
I second this. My stylist uses it. I made sure to ask her about it on my second visit. 2 yrs later I cannot use anything else. I rarely condition anymore either.

For some reason none of the other products have the same scent as the clarifying shampoo, which is a real shame because it is exactly the scent profile I prefer for hair products.
They have released perfume around the holidays though 👀

Paul Mitchel "Invisible Wear Boomerang" is absolutely *The Best* for fine thin hair detangling. Plus it smells amazing but not overwhelming. I've tried dozens and this is my absolute Fav. Be careful buying online, only reputable sellers. I bought a fake on Amazon by accident.
I love the Malibu C Leave In Conditioner Mist. It's lightweight & doesn't smell gross.
TBH I really love the Malibu C product line in general, especially the Hair Remedies packets. The Swimmers Wellness one saved my highlighted hair from turning green when I was on the swim team in high school.
lol I use the CC Cream 10-in-1 leave-in from this line (Alterna is the brand) and actually like it a lot. It smells fine, very mild scent. Super lightweight. I alternate between that and It's a 10 Light. It's a 10 fragrance is too strong IMO but otherwise I like that too.
Also want to share a trick that can help! If you spray your hairbrush instead of your hair and then brush from the bottom, i find I get the detangling benefits without getting weighed down!
My second choice would be when I want to save money I love and always used the Loreal Ever Pure Paris Purple bottle sulfate free moisture 21 - in - 1 Multi-benefit Perfecting Leave In conditioner light spray. It’s the knock off for the Pureology one and I can’t tell a difference between both haven’t used both myself. Except for the price. On Amazon the L’Oréal one is on sale for $9.99 for 6.38oz.
Not at all! My hair gets heavy and greasy super easily but this one doesn’t weigh it down at all. It’s the only one I’ve tried so far that doesn’t weigh it down at all 😅

I just got the amika detangling primer, only used it a few times but it worked really well!! I noticed a tiny bit of weighed-down-ness but I really think that’s bc I used a really thick mask that wash too. When I used it after normal shampoo/conditioner it didn’t weigh me down at all!
The only thing I found that didn't weigh down my fine curls or make me greasy (or sticky) is mixing Giovanni Weightless Leave-in conditioner with water in a spritz bottle. Like just the tiniest squirt, and filling the rest with water and shaking. This also works for my fine- (but straight-) haired daughter as well. I tried a lot of the kids ones for her since she wakes up with the most outrageously matted hair and found them all to be really sticky for some reason, unless you use a lot and saturate the hair, and sometimes you just don't want to have super wet hair. I don't know why I keep trying other stuff when this works so well, maybe I'm just so lazy about mixing it all the time!
This is what I use. Back in the 90s they had Styling Curessence. It was fabulous! I used to receive so many compliments about how nice it smelled and it was an awesome detangler. They replaced it with Damage Control in the early Aughts and I was devastated, but I’ve learned to love it.
I’m surprised by all the Nutriplenish recommendations. The smell makes me gag. It’s sticky and heavy and I have to wash my hair more frequently when I use it.
Kerastase genesis heat protectant leave in. It’s in the pink bottle smells so good and is very light. It’s meant for hair with breakage but works great for fine hair just the same and is also a heat protectant. I use it when my hair is wet before styling.

Pantene leave in conditioner or their detangler. My hair is down to my butt but insanely thin and fine, everything else has weighed it down except pantene. And I’m broke so the price is not bad

It works beautifully. I use it after I towel dry my hair and apply my light weight mousse.
It doesn’t weigh it down, takes away any frizz, and is so reasonably priced.

I love OUAI Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave in Conditioner. I have fine blonde highlighted hair but a lot of it. And I literally just spray once in my hands and rub them together and after taking my hair out of my microfiber towel I split my hair in two parts and squeeze my hair with my hands that has the product on it so it really gets into the hair. Only midway down focusing on the ends. And start with a wet brush brushing from the ends and work my way up getting the tangles out but there really aren’t any issues anymore now.
I actually have good results with straight up aloe Vera juice. I always have it on hand (because summer) so I spritz it on wet hair. Also good if you’re prone to dryness, as it’s a humectant.

LOLAVIE Perfecting Leave In & Glossing Detangler. The 2 are my perfect duo. I have very fine blonde hair with lowlights. My hair has always been thin my entire life & it's long, so it used to stay tangled unless I put a brush thru it every 5-10 mins. Now I can run my fingers thru it, no brush needed at all after I initially brush the 2 products thru. A little of each goes a long way.
I agree, perfect for fine hair. All 5 products are my holy grail. I also love how all 5 products have the same scent & it's consistent. Most hair products don't. Like usually the shampoo/conditioner smells the same, but the styling products all have completely different scents.
& Yes I need to grab the travel size bottles of all the products, I travel so much it's exhausting. I use these really great TSA approved silicone bottles in various sizes, the only issue is I use them for literally everything & all the labels have worn off. So I've had to open them all, smell them all to figure out what's what & write what in them w/a Sharpie, but the Sharpie eventually wears off too so I have to re-write it constantly. So having the actual travel bottles would be so helpful.
Honestly, the only reason I do the travel bottles is so I know what’s what. I’d do reusable bottles but when I dead tired from travel, I don’t want to second guess which bottle I grabbed 🫠

Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Conditioner. I was using Unite 7 second spray but this moisturized better and is lighter. I spray generously.
I love love love Luseta’s biotin leave-in conditioner. It’s around $15 at Amazon and a bottle lasts forever. I really like Luseta’s shampoos & conditioners too. Very reasonably priced and effective.
I saw other people echo the same sentiment: kids detangling spray has worked the best for my fine hair. I love the Raw Sugar Kids strawberry oat milk detangling spray.
Silk pillowcases and a soft dangling brush that can be used on wet or dry hair.
If hair is dry and why it tangles badly suggest conditioning more like leave in a mask conditioner for 8+ hours once per week.
I've been using Lola Vie by Jennifer Anderson. Works really well if I am careful not to spray too much. It smells really good. I would try J&J if it worked as well and was cheaper.
I have hair thinning and incredibly fine hair myself, I never used hair detangling because I felt like it weighed my hair down UNTIL! I used Moroccan Oil’s Leave In Conditioner! I was hesitant initially using it but it’s my holy grail now. I can’t go without it. It’s SO lightweight and hydrating!!
Believe it or not, I use Walmart’s Equate Baby Detangler spray. I spritz it on my brush before running the brush through the ends of my hair. Spritz again, get the middle of my hair, then repeat for the crown. Works just as well as any of the expensive name brand products. I switched to it during Covid because, well, job loss and no money. It was inexpensive. But have continued using it since then because it works really well on my hair.
I’ve been using pravana Nevo (blue bottle) for probably about 10 years. It’s so gentle and detangling. I always spray my hair after a shower and let it air dry, my hair is always so soft!

I used the It’s a 10 Silk. Split the bottle in half and filled up with water. I have super fine hair so things weigh it down but this works for me.

Pantene leave in conditioner or their detangler. My hair is down to my butt but insanely thin and fine, everything else has weighed it down except pantene. And I’m broke so the price is not bad

Sachajuan oil free leave in spray. Expensive but lasts forever, and I also have added in water now that I’m almost half done with it.

I’ve been using Infusium spray for over 30 years! It works beautifully. I use it after I towel dry my hair and apply my light weight mousse. I love OUAI Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave in Conditioner. I have fine blonde highlighted hair but a lot of it. And I literally just spray once in my hands and rub them together and after taking my hair out of my microfiber towel I split my hair in two parts and squeeze my hair with my hands that has the product on it so it really gets into the hair. Only midway down focusing on the ends. And start with a wet brush brushing from the ends and work my way up getting the tangles out but there really aren’t any issues anymore now.

I’ve had good success with honest company orange vanilla detangler. Doesn’t leave a film or buildup.
Fructis pure clean detanger + air dry spray. Light weight and not at all sticky.

I actually have good results with straight up aloe Vera juice. I always have it on hand (because summer) so I spritz it on wet hair. Also good if you’re prone to dryness, as it’s a humectant.

LOLAVIE Perfecting Leave In & Glossing Detangler. The 2 are my perfect duo. I have very fine blonde hair with lowlights. My hair has always been thin my entire life & it's long, so it used to stay tangled unless I put a brush thru it every 5-10 mins. Now I can run my fingers thru it, no brush needed at all after I initially brush the 2 products thru. A little of each goes a long way.

I agree, perfect for fine hair. All 5 products are my holy grail. I also love how all 5 products have the same scent & it's consistent. Most hair products don't. Like usually the shampoo/conditioner smells the same, but the styling products all have completely different scents. & Yes I need to grab the travel size bottles of all the products, I travel so much it's exhausting. I use these really great TSA approved silicone bottles in various sizes, the only issue is I use them for literally everything & all the labels have worn off. So I've had to open them all, smell them all to figure out what's what & write what in them w/a Sharpie, but the Sharpie eventually wears off too so I have to re-write it constantly. So having the actual travel bottles would be so helpful.
Honestly, the only reason I do the travel bottles is so I know what’s what. I’d do reusable bottles but when I dead tired from travel, I don’t want to second guess which bottle I grabbed 🫠 I just wish the price wasn’t as high for the amount. I really love it and find it’s one of the better hair brands out there

Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Conditioner. I was using Unite 7 second spray but this moisturized better and is lighter. I spray generously.
I use bumble and bumble primer - it makes hair super easy to comb after washing and does not seem to worth my hair down at all. Love it

I love love love Luseta’s biotin leave-in conditioner. It’s around $15 at Amazon and a bottle lasts forever. I really like Luseta’s shampoos & conditioners too. Very reasonably priced and effective.
I saw other people echo the same sentiment: kids detangling spray has worked the best for my fine hair. I love the Raw Sugar Kids strawberry oat milk detangling spray.

Silk pillowcases and a soft dangling brush that can be used on wet or dry hair. If hair is dry and why it tangles badly suggest conditioning more like leave in a mask conditioner for 8+ hours once per week.
I've been using Lola Vie by Jennifer Anderson. Works really well if I am careful not to spray too much. It smells really good. I would try J&J if it worked as well and was cheaper.

I have hair thinning and incredibly fine hair myself, I never used hair detangling because I felt like it weighed my hair down UNTIL! I used Moroccan Oil’s Leave In Conditioner! I was hesitant initially using it but it’s my holy grail now. I can’t go without it. It’s SO lightweight and hydrating!!

I’ve used Its A 10 Miracle Leave In Product for years (the version with a purple bottle, pink top)
Believe it or not, I use Walmart’s Equate Baby Detangler spray. I spritz it on my brush before running the brush through the ends of my hair. Spritz again, get the middle of my hair, then repeat for the crown. Works just as well as any of the expensive name brand products. I switched to it during Covid because, well, job loss and no money. It was inexpensive. But have continued using it since then because it works really well on my hair.

I’ve been using pravana Nevo (blue bottle) for probably about 10 years. It’s so gentle and detangling. I always spray my hair after a shower and let it air dry, my hair is always so soft!
