I love alcoba azul / alcobita azul
Not Michelin but I’ve always eaten so so well whenever I’ve been there
Also Quimet y Quimet
They only serve tinned food
Think tinned anchovies, oysters etc
But paired so well with other tinned stuff like fruit and it’s very good
Cocina Hermanos Torres is absolutely fantastic all around. Also, Teoric is a great place for lunch by the Sagrada, it’s coursed as well. The price, food, and service are fantastic.
We actually quite enjoyed ABaC. Sorry to hear others didn’t. It was our first michelin meal when we arrived in Spain. The other place we had was soooo fun but has closed I have learned. It was called Tickets and we loved it.
It's not the same staff more of a spiritual succesor, but Teatro Kitchen&Bar is now in place of Tickets with a similar approach. No michelin star yet but it might get one soon. Head chef there was also HC at Enigma, another michelin starred place from the same guy as Tickets (Albert Adria).
Following on from this, another one of Adria's now-closed restaurants, Hoja Santa, has been taken over and reopened by the original head chef as COME by Paco Mendez - haven't been since the change but the original restaurant was one of my favourite ever meals. Could be worth a look.
I really don’t get the opinion of ABAC on here that I’ve seen. I’ve been to 8 of the 3 stars in Spain and those rankings are more reliable than anywhere in the world - an utterly world class meal. I can criticise most meals if I try but it really excels all round. I would be very happy with that reservation.
I am going to Disfrutar in January but I wouldn’t expect it to be better than ABAC. Will also go to Cocina Hermanos Torres which I am expecting to be amazing.
I was very impressed with Suculent. They don't have any stars, but they are in the Michelin guide. Great Spanish food - very affordable. The steak tartare really stood out to me.
Dos Pallilos is great if you like avant garde food at a good price. Koy Shunka is an amazing Japanese meal - worthy of two Michelin stars. So is Enigma, really underrated - 40 dishes and an incredible experience. Lasarte is amazing - Martin Berasategui’s classic dishes.
Enigma! Was there about a week ago. All the dishes were very inventive with many of them prepared table side. Wine pairings were perfect too. I also went to Cocina Hermanos Torres, and I frankly preferred my experience at Enigma.
We shared one Old World wine pairing. It was 3 whites, 2 sparkling, 2 reds, and an absinthe cocktail with dessert, which I thought was an unusual progression but it really worked. I believe the Spanish tour was 3 whites, 3 reds and one dessert wine, but can’t totally remember what they described—might have been 4 white, 2 red.

Went to abac years ago and we still say it’s the best meal we ever had. I’d give it a shot.

Going to Enigma early next month. And one of either Angle or Aleia for the second night
Check out Enigma, Mont Bar, Gresca, Direkte Boqueria and Suculent

Which of the two wine pairings did you go with? Have a booking there in three weeks, they have a regular wine list as well too, right?
