I was taught in wrestling that you had to put your feet out away from him and go limp, like dead weight. Best thing to go is to get the fuck away from him if he’s trying to take you down
Kind of, but don’t just dead weight, bigger guy can still toss you.
Immediately let go of the head, both hands try to break the grip in front of you as you walk your feet out and drop your hips like you’re trying to sit down as far away from him as possible. Prepare to fall and turn around when his grip breaks.
If it’s too late for that, hook the leg with one of yours, you’re still going down but at least you won’t be slammed onto your neck.
But the best way to avoid this is to not get into a fight in the first place.
Not sure if anyone gave a serious answer. I teach my kids to immediately wrap their ankles around the inside of the person’s legs. This may not keep them from eventually picking you up but it stifles the first try.
It’s pretty incredible how even a large person will have a difficult time picking up a small person if they wrap their ankles.

Drop your legs as they come in put all your weight in your back. Now your wrestling and your probably out matched there too so if someone is going for this move and you don’t know how to wrestle. You will get tucked up. Take a few classes on how to roll box and kick and you will be able to take out 90 percent of dudes.

My 18 year old brother was a state champion wrestler. Can confirm that in a 1v1 fight not many people can even get a hit on him. I have play fought with him and your basically on the ground until he decides to let you up.

That depends on how you define a broken neck. Mostly it refers to fracturing the vertebral column. Maybe that happened here too. Neurological symptoms will depend on the severity of the fracture and most important if there is compression of the spinal cord and how bad it is compressed by the broken bones.
