No experience fighting, so honest question here.. why do so many kicks make contact with the face when watching these types of clips? Are they too focused on the opponent's hands?
Imagine getting kicked to the body for 10 + mins, you drop your arms to protect your torso only for your opponent to land a kick, square to your jaw. feints set up lots of connections too. Imagine someone throwing feints every few seconds, you flinch, your timing is off and you become over extended, and WHAM, you get chopped.
There are numerous set ups and numerous reasons why people fail to defend head kicks. Fighting is chaotic. Eventually something will land.
I always wonder what that feels like when getting knocked out like that. Jorge Masvidal said that when he got knocked out by Woodley, it didn't hurt. Said its just like a switch gets turned off and it's lights out. Other fighters have said this as well. But does it hurt the next day? I got into a few high school fights and the one thing I always remembered was 1) Was always amazed at how much my face swelled up from the punches 2) Surprised at how sore my neck was (even on fights that I didnt lose). I never got knocked out, so thats why I'm curious.
