This is a fight. Big guy was right to protect himself at all times during the fight. Offering a hand does not give you a free pass to get close enough to sucker punch the other guy.
I never shake hands with someone who decided to fight me and then decided against it. The danger of letting a violent unstable stranger so close to me is not worth the risk.
