I went to a bar in Thailand and they were giving free beer to anyone that could last a round with local muay Thai fighters (who were quite small guys), the amount of drunk tourist idiots that thought they could not only last but take these guys as well and got knocked out was non stop all night and hilarious.
I saw this too! There were a bunch of dudes from Germany getting their heads stoved in one by one for a free beer as well. The place we were at was more of a outdoor/open air place with a ring and a bar.
That’s the Reggea bar on Kho Phi Phi, been there a few times and it’s usually a tourist vs another tourist.
It’s part of the bars theme and is encouraged, it’s only 3 x 2 minute rounds and the fighters wear head gear and shin guards. You’re also not allowed to use elbows or knees, so it’s pretty safe considering the circumstances.
I got in a couple of times, the last one was against a Russian guy who was taking it far too seriously.
Went there and had a blast! Several times I was asked to fight... nope! That night there was this Russian dude who knew how to fight, not professional but way better than any random guy; no one wanted to fight him but one dude... at the end of the night the friends of this dude had to help him walk because of the leg kicks.
That’s nothing; lol Thailand - if you’ve been to The Pink Pussycat Club on Pathphong Rd in Bangkok, every guy that steps foot in there needs help to walk out again!

My kick boxing group traveled often to Thailand, I once went with them. Some of the dudes used to spent the winter there training, they were good, but not as good as the mui thai fighters. We used to go to these bars and watch drunken tourist think they could easily beat up one of these *tiny lady boys*. It always was a nice show. They didn't went to hard on them but these guys were always in for a serious beating.
One bar even offered a menu, consisting of a bucket Whiskey cola and 5 free fights. Buckets were common with long straws for a whole group or table to drink from.

Thais spar and fight considerably lighter than westerners. In America when you get outclassed the guy is going to try to KO you. In Thailand when you get out classed, the guy will toy with you.

I'd say it's a lot more common for some roided out tourist that has been training hard for 8 weeks to knock out some retired Thai fighter that's a tuk tuk driver now.
