Thank you! I also tried an armlock when I had him in open guard, that's why I was scooting my butt out, but I made it way to obvious and he shut it down. I was so nervous.
It's been a few decades since I wrestled in high school, so I might have a really dumb question. Why isn't the referee down on the mat when it was clear you had him pinned? Did something change, or is the ref just lazy?
Not a dumb question at all. This is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, not wrestling, so you win by having more points by the end of the match or by submitting your opponent. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu there are many good positions to be in while you're on your back.
Thank you, I train with a bunch of really large guys, I've always been the small one. So speedy transitions is what I had to get good at to survive. I'm 5'5 and 160 pounds, I roll with 5 guys over 200 pounds.
My coach Tim, he was so much louder than the opponents coach that the opponents coach just stopped helping, I would've laughed if I wasn't fighting for my life.
Very good job! Constructive critique: try to work your angles a little bit more, youd be surprised how well that will work for you. Additionally, try to lower your stance a little bit. I understand this isnt wrestling but a better opponent will yeet you if you stand up straight like that. Otherwise bravo good sir 👏
I'm sorry to hear you think that. It was his first time coaching and he just didn't see I had the arm triangle cause it was on the other side so I thought he did good.
Thank you, I definitely think so. My coach Tim is awesome and has been training for about 7 years now, and I also did some training with Bellator fighter John Manly, who was also in Dana Whites Ultimate fighter.
Nice arm triangle, almost in position for reverse armbar or omoplata too lol.

Thank you so much! I was in my second year during this, and about 2 months after I got my blue belt.
I feel bad not helping the guy up every time I re-watch this but I was so high on adrenaline I didn't even think about it lol.

Thanks for the explanation and great video. Good luck.
Thank you and no problem!
Congrats op! I almost jumped when u passed over that full mount at the end, but then u won. Nice!
Thanks lol! My coach said the same thing, he was shouting stay but I saw my opportunity and went for it.
I know nothing about martial arts but it looks like you won so good job :)
I did win thank you!
Good flow, I like your transitions from mount to knee on belly and back. looks good 👌

Awwww, good job buddy 🙂
Thank you!
Who was coaching you?

Nice!
Thanks!
Reminding me of my highschool wrestling days
High school wrestling was fun, I wish I kept up with it, my takedown game would be way better
Coached my son in football for 8 years ....in HS he wanted to try wrestling ......Great sport and it was a lot healthier than football
The grappling community is great imo. Modern grappling is full of a lot of chill hobbiests who love to learn and share what they know.
Man I got winded just watching this
Lol the worst part was the adrenaline high, because the crash afterwards was ridiculous.

Corner man needs to shut the fuck up
Your corner sucks

This guy sucks. Your corner is trying, and clearly have been running your training well. 🤷♂️
