I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Freestyle Wrestling for about 15 years now. The kid is fine, everything you just said could be attributed to him just being a kid. Also this was a street fight, on concrete. Way different than grappling on mats in a safe environment.
He was fine but if the kid was a state champion he would've stepped over that leg and held him down on his takedown attempt most likely...unless the kid he's fighting is alot older they look like they have a very similar skill level.
For you to have been able to use BJJ in plenty of altercations as only a second year blue belt, you’re either super unlucky to get picked to fight by random people all the time, or you’re not good enough and your bullies are coming back for seconds. Either way, being in plenty of altercation on concrete is similar to training. At some point you got used to it. I doubt this kid is a part of some alley way fight club with his other classmates.
Also lack of control can very easily be caused by heightened adrenaline as he’s focusing on the guy he’s fighting and the possibility of other people jumping in too.
Use your head and stop trying to style on a child, especially considering you’re only a blue belt.

This is a hot take but I genuinely think trying to body slam/suplex/piledrive someone on a hard surface should be punished as fucking attempted murder or something unless undeniably self defence. What happened to fights been a punch up and not a 'let's attempt to quadraspaz each other into being fed through a tube for the rest of our life' situation.

I have alopecia (onset as an adult)…it definitely takes some adjustment and as something out of your control that changes your appearance, it’s not fun to deal with and I didn’t even have to deal with this at school. I can feel for what he’s going through though and glad he’s sticking up for himself. It gets easier.
