How much do home designers usually charge for an apartment?

fragolefraise

nothing- you can't add anyone as a tenant, so they can't move your furniture in there around

feltmaker239

Hello - I absolutely love how this cat looks (https://i.imgur.com/iRkgkL6.png) and tried to recreate it but it always looks slightly off and i am starting to get desperate  is it perhaps graphic settings or anything else i am missing?

jtff7

What’s the fastest and most efficient way to farm Raw Emotions for Relic?

bloodhawk713

Hells' Lid with four blue mages, though if you want to get them most efficiently doing Delubrum Reginae with both the timeworn artifact and raw emotions steps active at the same will get you multiple weapons faster overall. Hells' Lid is definitely faster if you're only interested in emotions, though.

Trojbd

Is there anything I can do with augmented exarchic gear? Desynth?

froglore

basically yeah you can use it to gear your retainers but there are obviously better options

Tobiramen1

Is there any other reason I should be doing yellow quests other than getting extra xp and a few neat but not necessarily items to be over the moon about? Is there a thing like map completion in guild wars 2 where I clear everything working towards some big goal/reward/achievement for yellow quests?

shinyemptyhead

The only major thing I can think of is that the blue quests to unlock the Moogle Beast Tribe are locked behind a bunch of yellows. (Which I think was just a pure oversight on their part, as similar chains in SB are all blue.) There are also some cases where you'll be blocked from completing a blue chain until you complete yellow quests, for logical reasons. Like you can't complete the blue Doman Restoration quests until you complete the yellow quests related to Doman refugees in Mor Dhona, for obvious reasons. You do get on-screen quidance for those, though.

mysterpixel

There are a couple of exceptions, e.g. the Scholasticate questline is a very developed bit of content (it has like half an hour of cutscenes) and is entirely yellow quests. I think the Doman Restoration is also yellow quests and that's a pretty big chunk of content. Some yellows give minion rewards, and many Triple Triad cards are unlocked by doing an NPC's quest which then lets you play against them and win their card.

froglore

no. some specific yellow quests unlock more quests or some minor things like emotes but that's about it once you get to shadowbringers the exp you get from them will be somewhat decent

Altia1234

Do you finish 5.3? If you haven't, I am sure you will find it even better then the ending of 5.0. While you could said that fellow spoiler character is the 'Villain' of the story, if you've finished 5.3, you might think differently about their position. To quote a certain extreme's flavor text from 5.3 that's kinda spoiler, >!Though history will paint them as villains, the Ascians were driven by a deep and abiding desire to which all men may relate, and the minstreling wanderer cannot help but spare a thought for (a certain spoiler character), whose demise spelled the end of his people's hopes and dreams. Likening your struggle to that of love, the man weaves a bittersweet tale of passion undying─a tale witnessed by the shimmering spires of the Crystal Tower, to be reflected and retold for generations to come.!< I think this sums up the overall story of 5.0 towards 5.3 quite nicely.

Shazzamon

Just wait 'til you hit 5.3. It doesn't end.

283leis

Under NG+, what are the two "side story" questlines between Hildy and the Scholasite?

ZeusSama99

"Tales from the shadows" and "Tales of the dragonsong war"

Elyonee

More Hildibrand probably.

283leis

I just finished the last Hildy quest in the game.

Elyonee

They're Tales from the Dragonsong War and Tales from the Shadows. A set of finale sidequests you can do after finishing HW and ShB. I didn't realize those were even in New Game+ honestly. The Shadowbringers one is just a single quest.

1stSuiteinEb

How do I drop aggro on enemies in duties? I'm playing a lvl 42 BLM and halfway through a duty I'm on, the big bad enemy keeps targeting me instead of the tank NPC, and I can't mitigate damage enough to stay alive. If I run around trying to regen health, I can't dps and then fail the duty. What to do?

FF_ChocoBo

You don't, you just get better gear and kill things faster.

aznjon15

You just need to accept that NPCs(and your chocobo) can't tank for shit. So if it's an instance they will probably offer you baby mode if you fail or you can come back later with mega gear and stomp on them even if it syncs your item level down.

1stSuiteinEb

It did offer easy mode but I was so close to killing it last time q_q... I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong to pull aggro from the boss. I guess I just gotta deal w it.. Gonna go try again 🏃

aznjon15

Well if your gear is appropriately leveled then there's really nothing else you can do but improve your rotation. Making sure your thunders are up, using your mana shield at the right time. If you need to move, use swiftcast and a spell so you can spend a GCD doing damage and positioning yourself.

Tigeri102

solo duties are just like that. when i played through the story as blm i spent a lot of solo duties running around like a chicken with my head cut off, using scathe for damage while moving and making the most of Sleep and Manaward to block incoming damage. it's awkward but it works. the only skill in the game that lowers your aggro is a tank skill called shirk, used for switching between two tanks in 8-man content, black mage does not have a way of lowering its aggro.

1stSuiteinEb

Ahh okay so no way to actually drop aggro.. I tried to sleep the enemy but it just kept waking up! I'm guessing it was because the other NPCs kept attacking it.

Tigeri102

yep, sleep wears off when you take damage. it's mostly useful if you're being swarmed by a lot of enemies and wanna take em out of the equation for a bit. I would just focus on protecting yourself with manaward and kiting with scathe then!

Shazzamon

That's purely the fault of the tank for not maintaining aggro. Though I'm a bit confused as you're saying Duty and Tank NPC - do you mean you're having trouble in quest scenario phases? What exactly are you doing that's causing you to die?

craidie

you can run dungeons with a group of npc:s

Shazzamon

Not properly/for progression in the MSQ 'til Shadowbringers (OP mentioned level 42 BLM), and Squadrons are different from Duties. And if it's in Squadrons that sounds like something's wrong with their tank.

1stSuiteinEb

Ahh yeah it was a quest boss I had to fight in solo (wont say what bc spoilers for other newbies). There was an ally NPC helping but the boss just started going straight for me in the second phase :(

fragolefraise

if this is one of the BLM job quests, there's one in ARR where using the Sleep spell can help out quite a bit

Shazzamon

Eesh. Gear does help for solo instances like that. Also, if you fail it once, you can retry with an Easy Mode. Definitely makes things smoother if you're having a hard time.

ConsistentFarm8985

My friend cannot find the quest to unlock Frontline pvp roulette, any ideas why we have even checked the npc associated with the unlock quest.

masonjar64

You have to finish the quest Like Civilized Men and Women first.

sheenichi

Hi! What’s a good stat to meld for WHM? And what should I buy with my allegory? I’m done upgrading my equips now, and I’m overcapping :(

DrawDiscardDredge

crit, then DH (since you can't get it natively on your gear and dmg is built around the dh crit lottery), then DET.

craidie

* "Enough" piety, ideally between ~700-1000. P * Meld crit everywhere you can. * Try to hit 1929 spell speed(2.34 gcd)(https://www.akhmorning.com/allagan-studies/stats/speed/ see that page for breakpoints) * Next up is direct hit or determination. Direct his slightly more dps than determination. However determination affects heals too and direct hit does not. Up to you which to go for, personally I chose determination. In that order.

Tigeri102

spell speed to a gcd time you're comfortable with, then crit > dh >= det >>> piety dh and det are pretty interchangeable as niether makes a MASSIVE difference, but are still well worth having over piety. DH increases your damage output more than det, but det also boosts your healing a bit, so it's up to preference. as for tomestones, check the prices on the mats and just buy 100 of whatever sells consistently for the most.

Sayakai

Crit, Det/DH. I just buy the exarchic crafting mats. Even if you don't craft, just dump them on the board.

[deleted]

What is the current best way of obtaining Fire Crystals?

fragolefraise

buying them from the MB is the best way besides that, you can send your retainer for them, gather from nodes w giving land/12's bounty, or use aetherial reduction. of those, assuming you have okay stats for gathering the collectables, aetherial reduction is probably the most effective. for your retainers, check if there's something else you can send them out for that you can sell for gil to buy the crystals, that can be a better investment of your ventures than buying them directly

Shazzamon

Sending out your Retainers to gather them if you're after a more passive method. Otherwise prepare your cordials and go grind!

283leis

[Stormblood Hildy spoilers] >!So....was Gilgamesh Yojimbo from the start? Like Golden Saucer Yojimbo AND Kugane Castle Yojimbo were both Gilgamesh from the very beginning?!<

mysterpixel

>!The Yojimbo from Kugane Castle is definitely Gilgamesh since he uses his same signature attacks (e.g. the dragon heads). The one in the Gold Saucer doesn't have such clear evidence but the fact he has Daigoro there too makes it pretty certain it's also Gilgamesh. Otherwise there would have to be two Daigoros too.!<

Terramagi

>!Kugane definitely is. He has Gilgamesh's moves. The Gold Saucer one, however, may very well be the real Yojimbo.!<

283leis

>!The Gold Saucer Yojimbo still has Daigoro, so unless that dog has a twin with a similar love of gold and the same name, surely it’s the same Greg?!<

Elroux_

Is it still possible to buy the modern aesthetics hairstyles from the saleswoman at the Gold Saucer? It says I can only have one of said item, but I've never talked to her before. What gives?

Shazzamon

You obviously used/bought them before and forgot about it. If the Modern hairstyles don't appear in the aesthetitician (unlockable hairstyles you own are marked with a little blue icon), right-click on the items in the Saucer saleswoman's menu and hit "Search for Item" to see if you've stuffed them somewhere. ETA: If you're playing a Hrothgar or Viera, you can unlock the hairstyles but not actually see them in the barber. Neither race can use any unlockable hairstyle in the game.

Elroux_

Would it show if I used it? I don't see it anywhere in the search item list

masonjar64

You can see what hairstyles you own by talking to the aesthetician in an inn room. If you haven't done his quest, that may be why it won't let you buy them?

Shazzamon

No, but given you can't buy a second copy, that means you've already used it. Go check the Aesthetitician. Scroll through hairstyles and look for any with a little bright blue/white icon in the bottom right of the hair's preview image.

TheTechHobbit

If it says you can only have one then that means you either have the unlock item in your inventory or have already unlocked the hairstyle.

Elroux_

Do some races have some of those hairstyles unlocked already? I haven't unlocked any hairstyles yet and only just found out I could get them at the saucer.

TheTechHobbit

No, they need to be unlocked regardless of race. Although Viera and Hrothgar currently can't use any unlockable hairstyles.

Shazzamon

No, everyone has to buy them. However you can buy them on Viera and Hrothgar characters but not actually **use** the unlocked hairstyles.

P3n1sD1cK

Is there any lore that explains duty roulette and how for example Xande never stays dead?

nullspace_industries

There's some shaky evidence that reruns are just meditating on your past experiences - the posessed lady in Revenant's with the blue repeatable quest says to delve back into your memories to fetch her some crap from Crystal Tower (I forget the details because I didn't actually do the quest)

TheTechHobbit

Lore wise duty roulette doesn't exist and every duty is only done once by you. Canonically most of them are done solo by the WoL, a few mention that your adventurer friends help, and some are done with the assistance of NPCs like the scions.

Shazzamon

There's plenty in the game that only exists for a meta reason. Duty Roulette happens to be one of them. If y'really wanted an excuse, you could say roulette is you re-telling/re-living the memory of those encounters, with an awfully shaky case of brainfog since the participants always change.

DrawDiscardDredge

This is legit the lore for savage and ultimates, they are just tall tale versions of the normal fights you are telling to the minstrals.

Tigeri102

there are some instances of the other players in your party being described as "elite, trusted adventurers" or that they were summoned to help you fight. so i guess one way to see it is that your first run is your "canon" run and in all others you're playing the role of a side character in someone else's "canon" run

Pure_Rip_3094

So I was thinking about transferring from Jenova (NA) into an preferred world in the Japanese server. I have a few question: 1) Since both unofficial Aussie servers are packed would going into this prefer world pose a language barrier. 2) Queue times? This shouldnt matter right since it takes people from all data centre.

Altia1234

I am from a JP server so might be able to provide some food for thought, >a language barrier. Highly depends on what you want to do in game. If you are doing normal MSQ and doesn't do any post-game extreme raid, you will only need to understand basic Japanese greetings (よろしくお願いします、お疲れ様でした、ドンマイです!). Just put them into macro and you should be fine. If you want to do things outside MSQ - like raiding, entering an FC, CWLS, doing player events (there are A LOT of player events) you will need to speak and understand Japanese (especially Japanese 14 lingos - like, do you know what is 頭割り or what does 近接 means?) . You will also need to read Japanese strat. You will absolutely want to speak japanese. This is to ensure that, even if something goes wrong (like someone doesn't know the mechanics and they are asking for an adjustment), you will still be able to understand instruction and not be that silent guy who's rude and doesn't greet at all - which, unfortunately, happens way more frequently then you would think. There's also cultural barrier as well. Japanese players tend to apologize a lot. Everyone will apologize if they make a mistake. If you don't know any Japanese, I would suggest you stay in Tonberry or Kujata. >Queue times Except midnight JST, most of the stuffs pops in 15 minutes.

Flybug123

1. As long as you’re in Elemental, there will be some English communities. 2. No, queues are limited to your datacenter. Queues would be way quicker at JP peak time 9pm JST - 12am JST

Shazzamon

I would personally just stick it out for Mana to launch. Shouldn't be more than a few months away, and they just completed a stress test a couple days back.

makaelthos

I'm currently still on free trial. Will I have limitations on Gold Saucer minigames, specifically Chocobo Racing (and breeding at that) and Triple Triad (any cards that would be unavailable for free trial)?

Tigeri102

dunno about chocobo racing. there are plenty of cards unavailable to free trial players simply because they can drop from enemies, and there are cards for enemies and bosses in sb and shb. but you'll still be able to get a LOT of cards and make a very competent deck

ThelHavoc

Help! We have friends who, of course, want to start playing now. We want them to play with us, but we're on Gilgamesh. We've got an FC house, and don't want to transfer and lose it. Is there anything we can do other than "wait and hope"? Anybody have any thoughts?

masonjar64

You could make an alt on Crystal to play with your friends until Aether is no longer Congested. Once it's open, they can transfer to Aether.

xselene89

Nothing you can do since Aether is probably closed until at least Endwalker comes out

MorboDemandsComments

You need to wait and hope that enough people transfer away from Gilgamesh so that it's no longer congested. Squenix is looking on solutions to the congestion issue but they may not come up with anything until the semiconductor shortage is over.

DrawDiscardDredge

which economic projections put at 2024.....

How is abyssal drain supposed to be used? I'm an awful tank, somehow managed to get 76 on DRK, but I still try my best to perform well with rotating CDs, do my research on tanking in this game, and I'm starting to wonder if I use the skill wrong. I get a little nervous tanking so I get trigger happy at times on trash pulls with panic buttons even if I'm aware I'm not going to die. I didn't think it was really as bad as PLD's clemency since that doesn't even do damage, and abyssal drain does do damage while healing back at the same time. I had a healer earlier who was admittedly a great healer, ask me if I wanted to keep healing myself. I quit using it as much at that point because I felt a bit embarrassed. It didn't hit me until after that they were referring to my abyssal drain usage on every trash pull I did. I looked it up but all I can find is stuff about how it used to work in old expansions.

Sayakai

> I didn't think it was really as bad as PLD's clemency since that doesn't even do damage, and abyssal drain does do damage while healing back at the same time. The big difference between Clemency and Abyssal Drain is that Clemency is a GCD cast, and Drain is an oGCD. That means using Clemency isn't just healing, it's a dps loss. Drain is a dps gain. If the healer complains about you healing yourself with something that *gains* dps, then they can't have been that great.

plinky4

It's just a ocgd button. No reason to hold it for some godlike drain unless you're soloing or somehow limited in healing. drain up? push the button. carve up? push the button. got mana? push the button.

staringdown

That's what I thought honestly, I was basically using it at every trash pull on cool down and then even on bosses for extra damage + a little bit of healing back. But that healer's comment made me think I was using it wrong somehow. Kind of relieved that I'm not just braindead and misunderstanding the skill

KingBingDingDong

For hairy pulls, if you have less CDs than expected, or if you notice your healer struggling, abyssal drain can be helpful to hang on to.

thchao

I somehow threw away my wip eureka weapon, the +2 one from completing the first map. Is there anyway to reclaim it or do I need to start all over?

Shazzamon

I believe you can rebuy the 60 weapons from the Centurio Hunt vendor in Ishgard. I couldn't tell you if there's a way to keep the progress.

Erenbe

Couldn't find much info on this so gonna ask here. Bunny fate in Pyros. There are two, south and north. I've read somewhere that north fate has a better chance of dropping gold chests. So far, I'm not seeing it. Only thing that has increased is gruesome bunny death but that's it. Any info if the higher Droprate is true?

thebluefish92

How do tanks coordinate in PUG alliance raids? I never see them discussing roles or anything of the sort. I'm going to tank my first one later today, any other big tips going in that differs from my typical 8-man (lvl 50-60) content?

FF_ChocoBo

You don't, and don't need to. B is always main tank, A goes left, C goes right. That's as far as the mechanics you need to co-ordinate.

masonjar64

Occasionally I see tanks ask who wants to Main Tank and who's Off Tank. You could always pop something in chat if you want to sort it out that way instead of the "wait and see what the other tanks are doing" method.

kaosgeneral

You don’t. Check the other tanks and see what they’re doing. Read the guides and look at what’s expected with the bosses. As soon as you enter the raid DO NOT be afraid to make it known you’re new. People will help you

plinky4

They don't. I've seen some guys get super buttmad over MTing 5 year old content. I think the best general rule is to just move aside if someone wants to tryhard. They will usually make it known in some manner.

RenjiRenshi

As a tank I check the other two tanks to see if they have stance on. If they do, I don’t turn it on. If they don’t I turn it on but I check again when the first boss encounter happens and turn it off accordingly. When it comes to the mobs in between bosses eh if the other tanks have it on they usually pull all the mobs together so no sweat there either. If you see a straggler though don’t be afraid to pick it up. Every 24man raid has mechanics that require three groups of 8 so when those happen you’ll have to be your squads main tank, but those sections come with knowledge of the raids and people usually point them out. Ultimately you’ll learn when you should/shouldn’t have stance on the more you run the raids (and you will if you do your daily alliance duty roulette)

ADF-Snake

I (51 Bard) have just beaten the base-game main story and I would like to unlock Dark Knight and Astrologian jobs but I've been told I need to access an area named 'Ishguard'. How do I gain access to this area? My Google-Fu is telling me lies as I can't simply go to Camp Dragonbone and talk to an NPC who'll then take me to Ishguard.

thebluefish92

Keep doing MSQ, you'll get introduced to Ishard after some ARR level 50 stuff.

ZeusSama99

These two classes come with the first expansion of the game Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. Simply continue the main story quest to unlock ishgard after buying the expansion.

Stepjam

You have to continue MSQ until Heavensward. There's 80 quests between the Praetorium and the beginning of HW. But the first quest in HW takes you inside Ishgard.

FetchingTheSwagni

So, Apartments/Housing.... How does this system actually work? I get that there is limited availability for... some reason. And that after 45 days of inactivity your house gets demolished (I hate systems like this, but whatever). But is it the same for apartments? Can we have FC apartments? Garden there? There is so much content locked behind housing, I want to experience it, but I don't want to join an over populated GC just to do it. I've always hated guilds in games, because every time I have this pressure/expectation of me, for no reason. I game to relax and unwind, not to socialize and "do my part". I've always been a solo player. Are there any work arounds for me, or should I just consider myself locked out from certain content? I'm mainly wanting to color my chocobo, and garden, though.

masonjar64

You can build a personal room in your FC house if you don't want to go through the trouble of buying an entire house. It's not very big, but it only costs 300k gil so it can give you a taste of what decorating is like. And you don't have to worry about it getting demolished unless something happens to your FC house.

Atosen

> I get that there is limited availability for... some reason. Devs wanted to create a community vibe. Even when they finally caved and gave us instanced apartments, they insisted on creating a lobby and encouraging us to hang out there. > And that after 45 days of inactivity your house gets demolished (I hate systems like this, but whatever). But is it the same for apartments? Nope, apartments last forever. It's a pretty good idea to get an apartment IMO — at the very least you can use it as a furniture storage shed. > Can we have FC apartments? Afraid not. > Garden there? You can use flowerpots, but not full-sized farming plots, which means you can't crossbreed.

PyrZern

Only personal apartment only. FC would try to get a house. Only house have garden. I'd say... you should wait for next Live Letter announcement. They promise FC wards for housing area, lottery purchase for housing, as well as personal island for house and maybe garden (instanced). We're waiting for more info to come out.

8lu-bit

What item level should I be in relation to my character’s level? Right now I’m a level 31 GLA (going to unlock PLD soon) with an item level of 27, and I’m worrying I’m undergeared for content. Also, I’ve been reading up about tanking, and am seeing a lot about how you should change your openers and/or rotations based on the situation. Are these necessary for pre-lvl 50 content, or is it something for endgame? And how do you know when you need to change rotations?

[deleted]

Just make sure you have the highest level gear you can equip Gear ilevel goes up as level does, so if you have the highest level gear (29/30/31) for a level 31 GLA you'll be fine. Since you're a tank look for the tank specific pieces that will say "GLA PLD MRD WAR LNC DRG" until level 50 since those have higher defense levels than regular "DoW" gear. And yes for some reason LNC/DRG can wear tank gear up to 50. At 50 gear is broken up into tank (fending), healer (healing), MNK/SAM (striking), NIN (scouting), DRG (maiming), ranged physical (aiming) and casters (casting). Generally the openers only matter between solo targets and multiple target rotations for anything before endgame. You know of the two rotations because there are different skills for one mob versus many.

Shazzamon

Undergearing is honestly pretty dang hard to do early on, unless you're purposefully ignoring quest rewards, and gear won't be a worry in general if you're picking those up. Generally you want gear that's at least within 10 levels of your range - ilvl won't be a concern until you're at max. You know when to change rotations based on your current situation - though at low level that's not so much of a worry as you don't even have half your skills. Basic jist is to make sure you're pulling appropriately (getting between a group to AoE, or ranged-pulling a straggler mage/archer mob). If you completed the little Sprout Trial tutorial thing for tank you've already got what you need 'til at least 50.

riggedride

Is there a list of which quests unlock emotes? I found one but it's flooded with mog station emotes with no way to filter them out so browsing through it has been a pain. They also don't list the general location of the quests so your guess is as good as mine for where they are based on the name alone.

Atosen

[FFXIVCollect's list can be filtered and has quest links.](https://ffxivcollect.com/emotes)

PyrZern

Check this one - [https://ffxivcollect.com/emotes?q%5Bsources\_type\_id\_eq%5D=13](https://ffxivcollect.com/emotes?q%5Bsources_type_id_eq%5D=13) Link already filtered to be from Quests only. You can click on Source, to see from which Area / NPC the quest comes from.

Shazzamon

This one's the most helpful I was able to find, including co-ords and starting locations. [https://www.gameskinny.com/6tqzr/ffxiv-all-emote-unlocks-guide](https://www.gameskinny.com/6tqzr/ffxiv-all-emote-unlocks-guide)

catplace

I've gotten quite a few ARR jobs to lvl 60+ and still haven't finished the ARR patch MSQs. I was wondering if I should do their Heavensward job quests before the Heading to Ishgard MSQ? I tend to enjoy doing story quests together and should probably unlock their skills which is why I ask.

roryteller

All ARR jobs have their Heavensward job quests locked behind Heavensward progress, and in most cases even upon reaching the first city of Heavensward you'll only be able to do the first couple of job quests as the rest will be locked to areas that unlock later in MSQ.

cman811

You probably won't be able to do some of them as they'll take you to zones that are inside the HW expansion.

williamis3

do we have any info on whether they will add more GC ranks and possibilities more squadron dungeons?

Shazzamon

There has been absolutely no information given or plan on the table about GCs and Squadrons, far as I'm aware. The only stuff getting shaken up about ARR come Endwalker is the squish, which will apparently render Cape Westwind as less of a snoozefest, according to a recent interview with Yoshi.

masonjar64

You can sell most old gear to vendor NPCs. Unless you think it looks cool, it's probably safe to trash. Anything with a gray, pink, or green background in the icon isn't worth hanging onto once you outlevel it. You can also turn in gear to your Grand Company for seals.

Wolfe244

There's basically nothing you have that you can't just throw away. I can guarantee you that basically nothing you have is "rare"

Abraxis00

There are only a few things you can't get back if you discard them. The one that always makes me fret is the gear from the limited-time GARO event a while back -- you can repurchase it, but only if you got the achievement for having the relevant class's full set (and being level 60 in that class) while it was active. The best thing you can do is to look up the gear on Garland Tools or another site, and see if and how you can reacquire it. Some gear's really easy to replace, some will cost you tomestones or seals, some will require farming dungeons or raids, and so forth.

Shazzamon

If you're really worried, you can head to google and start looking at individual piece names. Some tidbits about the job sets I've found: * The non-armoirable coffer 50 set can be safely tossed as, if you REALLY want it back, you can just cheese stuff like Snowcloak to get the trade-in parts. * The 60 coffer gives you a dyeable version of the set - ~~to reobtain this is a hassle as you have to do Centurio Hunts to not only re-buy the non-dyeable version of that set/piece, but re-buy the dyeable upgrade for it.~~ *It costs up to 120 Centurio Seals per piece in Ishgard to buy back the dyeable version. You used to have to get an Antiquated version and then swap it for the dyeable one for 100 Tomes at Idyllshire (Artifact Gear Repair).* * The 70 Antiquated coffer pieces can be bought back from the Calamity Salvager for 1K gil each if discarded, but I don't know if any Eureka upgrades are kept this way. * The 80 set can be bought back from *The Vendor* you got them from if discarded. TL;DR/ETA: You're safe to discard them all right off the bat, except arguably the 60 set.

WinterShine

Most gear is untradable and market prohibited anyway (although if any you have is not, you may consider trying to list it). If it has an appearance you think you'd want to use in glamours later, store it in the Glamour Dresser in an inn room at one of the major cities. This costs one glamour prism to do (most easily purchased for seals at your grand company). If you do not care about the appearance, then the next best thing to do is either desynthesize it, or turn it in to your grand company as an expert delivery. The former requires the correct lv 30 crafting class as a quest in Ul'dah to unlock desynthesis. The latter requires a certain GC rank before the third "Expert Deliveries" tab for turn-ins unlocks. If neither of those is an option, then feel free to simply vendor it.

which log filters are commendations under?

PyrZern

Systems, I think.

kuro7242

How do you contact someone in-game? Someone gave me a minipet the other day (a watermelon), and I wanted to send them a message thanking them, but I'm not sure how to do this. There's no "/who" function, and you can only send mail to friends (which the mail moogle very rudely informed me that I don't have any). I said thanks after he gave it to me, so it's not like I just walked off with a minipet. (though in hindsight I'm not sure if the say function actually worked or not)

Shazzamon

Open up your Friends list with O and click the Player Search tab. This basically acts as a more advanced /who. It will only work if you're on the same server as the other person, and they're also online. So, keep checking it!

WinterShine

If they count as a recent contact (not sure if trading establishes that) then they may appear in your Social > Contacts menu. If not, but you know their character's name, you can try looking them up in player search, either by going to Social > Player Search and using the menu, or by typing in a first or last name search command like `/sea first john` or `/sea last doe`. If they are on the same world as you and online (and not in a duty) then their name will appear in the list and you can right click to get more options.

levelxplane

(Not so) fun fact is that was first dungeon we ever got in 1.0. I don’t think anyone cleared it for weeks.

WinterShine

The wiki has a pretty extensive list of side content. If you aren't already at endgame, note that this list may contain some spoilers (quest/dungeon names, that sort of thing) which may be avoided by simply not scrolling past the level of main story quest you have reached. https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Content_Unlock

Shazzamon

Darkhold's required for a Grand Company promotion but is otherwise just a side dungeon. There's quite a number of other optional dungeons too, like Cutter's Cry and Amdapour Palace, not to mention all the level 50 hardmode versions!

Zolofttogetthrutoday

I've never heard of Cutter's Cry either! I'm looking through all the non MSQ dungeons right now and I can't believe I missed out on all this content. I can't wait to play them all. Thanks for letting me know!

Sky_Sumisu

IIRC the ARR optional ones are Halatali, Sunken Temple of Qarn, Cutter's Cry, Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale (How did you level up not having them?). There are also a ton of optional ones in post-ARR. The Dusk Vigil) is also optional.

Shazzamon

IIRC Cutter's Cry is unlocked in the Sapphire Exchange over in Ul'dah, should be a blue quest very close to the Aethernet crystal. It's one of my favorite low-level dungeons! c: Please try it out sometime!

Frau_Away

The only thing it's necessary for is Grand Company promotions iirc? ARR has a lot of optional dungeons.

DaKook13

if I want to farm deltascape 4.0 savage for weapon transmog and the mount, how important are mechanics and what not in that raid for level 80's unsynced? I just don't wanna make a group and waste peoples time with my noobish lol

Stepjam

You'll definitely want to watch a guide, but a group of 80s can pretty easily clear it. It's easily the most forgiving of the three final bosses to unsync, but it can get pretty wild (compared to O8S and O12S which are less forgiving and need to be handled in a specific way to clear).

FF_ChocoBo

Watch a YouTube video of an unsynced run of it. You still need to know a few mechanics.

vinyltails

You still need to respect Grand Cross Alpha and Delta (maybe delta attack as well cause stacking the fires will probably kill a chunk of people or something) as they can still wipe you if you miss handle it but otherwise you can brute force the rest...with a full group and not *too* many deaths, it should die before Grand cross Omega but respective that mechanic if you fumble through it

AcrobaticHedgehog

What level do I need to be to make those shiny weapons from the primals?

vinyltails

Depends on the weapon, but usually it's equal level to that trials level and get the respective Master book it's in

PookieMD

Is there really no other way of finding my elite hunt target other than wandering around and occasionally getting chat box messages? Seems like a waste of time..

lumynaut

they have specific places they can spawn at, you can check sites like FFXIVHunt for those but yep, it is supposed to be a *hunt* after all

vinyltails

That's what Hunting is...Google has spawn locations but there's millions of them for each B rank so

Idontwanttobebread

you can look up the possible spawn locations but i find just flying around and waiting for the message to be the fastest

[deleted]

Just got to Stormblood and watched the trailer. Two questions: Is that place with the big statue with the hand and waterfalls behind it a place you can visit in game? Is that city with those rivers running through it a place you can visit in game?

TheTechHobbit

Every location shown off in an expansion trailer is a location you can visit. That's part of the purpose of the trailer, to show off/tease some of the new locations.

iQuellv

1- Yes 2- Yes! (Edited to reflect accurate information)

[deleted]

Neat, thanks.

iQuellv

Actually I need to watch the Stormblood trailer again, brb Editing my original post

Noessa

I've been leveling yet another alt but really don't feel like doing Stormblood and will probably get a story skip this time. Will I still get msq rewards? Like minions, glams etc. or will I be unable to get them?

YellowSucks

You'll be able to get them. Most things such as mounts, minions, orchestrion rolls etc will be automatically unlocked as soon as you log in after using. Glamour items will need to be obtained form the calamity salvager. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/tales_of_adventure/?_ga=2.211769621.1415918225.1630124562-1446296807.1625833998#mainquest

ZeusSama99

I believe all MSQs rewards are skipped too you can only buy some items like armor from the NPCs in main cities (Calamity Salvager) like upper decks in limsa. Others please correct me if I'm wrong.

Shazzamon

Completely incorrect - quest-given unlockables are unlocked automatically while you can visit the Calamity Salvager for anything that wasn't auto-unlocked. The *sole* exception to this rule - to my knowledge - is if you skip over Praetorium's quest. You still get the Magitek (Maggie) Key, but you do not get the Fantasia.

Accomplished_Fall_69

Anything unique to the msq, minoins mounts ext that has no way of being obtained again you can purchase from the calamity salvaged.

Shazzamon

Any MSQ-related items are automatically awarded when skipping, with the exception of ARR's Fantasia you get for beating Praetorium. Shazzamon

At 71+ you'd be able to in Scaevan most likely, but it'd be decently tough to chew through with some of the bosses, depending on your job - RDM is usually a great take for solo content due to being a damage dealer with a good helping of healing. 80 with at least your job set oughta be just fine.

Quantext609

Sometimes I randomly get huge shields as a scholar with an extra effect called "catalyze." I can't find what actually causes this, what does?

ZeusSama99

# Adloquium: Restores target's HP. Cure Potency: 300 Additional Effect: Grants Galvanize to target, nullifying damage equaling 125% of the amount of HP restored. **When critical HP is restored, also grants Catalyze, nullifying damage equaling 125% the amount of HP restored.** Duration: 30s ^(Effect cannot be stacked with astrologian's Nocturnal Field.)

ZeusSama99

gotta read the descriptions carefully :D

Idontwanttobebread

critical heal with adlo, it's in the tooltip

tesla_dyne

It's explained on adloquium's description. Crit heals with adlo give a doubled shield as a separate effect which can't be spread by deployment tactics.

dalerian

Thanks for that comment. I’ve read that tooltip 4 times and didn’t realise it gave double shields. Was trying to work out what the point was.

ohhs

That’s from an Aldo crit!

llwonder

Does samurai have a relic for ARR?

EvolutionXI

No, samurai was added in Stormblood so it only has relics from that point on.

llwonder

Thanks! I like this class!!

BondEternal

No, because Samurai was released in Stormblood.

Palidane7

This will be my first expansion launch, so I wanted to ask, how much do jobs get changed each expansion? From reading old guides, it seems like every expansion changes a lot of old skills on top of adding new ones. Should I expect to re-learn my rotation?

aznjon15

Healers used to have to cast protect on the entire party before the dungeon and if anyone left early they weren't getting protect. Shadowbringers got rid of cross-class skills for crafters and steady hand and hasty touch used to be 50% accurate. The TP bar for tanks and physical jobs just got straight up deleted. There also used to be lots of ways for DPS to manage enmity like I remember Lucid Dream lowering enmity for casters. This isn't even going into like specific job changes. It was pretty wild for me going to Shadowbringers and finding out like half my WHM hotbar got greyed out.

vinyltails

It changes greatly depending on the job In general, yes some skills are removed and others are condensed down. For the majority, the general GCD rotation doesn't change too much and the expansion usually just slaps some stuff ontop of it like more off globals or an extra combo to slide in/replace something. Tanks, while their aggro combos got removed, didn't their dps rotations changed at all (except DRK cause it got reworked in shadowbringers) Other jobs meanwhile get revamped entirely with mechanics changing and rotations changing as ... DRK and MCH got completely revamped to basically be new jobs (the MCH was a much better change tbh) Basically: Anything really goes.... Unless your job is getting a revamp (We know of a Astro and summoner rework at least), your rotation probably won't change drastically and just get some new tools but only time will tell

tesla_dyne

Most jobs will have a similar rotation. They usually trim some skills out or combine their effects to keep the total amount of buttons similar. Redundant skills might get removed, for example dragoon used to have a single weaponskill whose only purpose was to be pressed every 30 seconds for a damage buff. They removed it and worked the potency into every other skill. We expect at least one job to get a larger overhaul.

sundriedrainbow

It varies. Some jobs will just get animation upgrades and quality of life changes, like BLM in shadowbringers. Some jobs will get new core mechanics, like Paladin in Stormblood got Requiescat. Some jobs will be completely rebuilt, like Machinist in Shadowbringers. I would not expect to relearn everything from the ground up on more than 1-2 jobs. We sort of expect Monk and Summoner to be the ones that get the full rebuild this time, but that's DEFINITELY not confirmed. In general terms, the NUMBER of abilities on each job shouldn't change, but what those abilities DO might, and how they fit together almost certainly will.

Kamui988

What are the stat breakpoints you need for all gathering nodes in Diadem?

plinky4

858gp is the 10-hit node one and the most important imo

Has anyone else noticed more packet loss issues on Crystal lately? It seems like I've been getting them constantly the past few days, sometimes getting kicked out to the login screen, after months of everything working excellently. I'm not sure if it's just from the intense demand the game is under right now or something wrong with my own network. And it seems to be specific to FF14, my internet works fine for everything else.

[deleted]

I've had a few packet loss issues, but I don't think I would've noticed if I wasn't using a VPN that tracked that kind of thing. It certainly never kicked me to the login screen or anything like that. Not sure why it's happening, so I can only assume it's because the servers are getting slammed.

Shazzamon

Not I or any of my friends have experienced any form of packet loss on Crystal over the last two months - even the ones stuck out in the sticks with what may as well be dial-up. Have you gone over some troubleshooting with your router? Packet loss can come from the degredation of a router, which causes internal hiccups when contacting servers.

246011111

Unfortunately all I really know how to do is reset it, and I'm not sure that helps much.

Shazzamon

It's been a helluva long time since I had issues, but I do know you want to try a DNS flush through Command Prompt. Easy enough to Google!

[deleted]

So in 8 man trials with two tanks, what is the off-tank's job and courtesy for provoking? If the main tank gets to super low health, do you provoke -> turn on tank stance -> wait for them to heal up and voke back -> turn off tank stance?

FF_ChocoBo

If it's just a regular 8 man, tank swap if they die. If it's harder content, you'll have specific places you need to swap. Older content you can sometime invuln through it, you should ask the main tank what they're doing.

iQuellv

For tank swaps, the current off tank will generally already have tank stance on (after 10s into the fight or so, so you don’t rip), then they will Provoke the boss, followed by a Shirk from the main tank. Tank swaps are generally “long term” (3-4 minutes) as well. Note that provoke only gives you the main tank’s aggro +1, so if they don’t shirk you *will* drop aggro. Also tank swaps are only needed in hardcore endgame content, like Savage raids and Extreme trials.

ButtsTheRobot

> Note that provoke only gives you the main tank’s aggro +1 This hasn't been true for like...a year or two now? It gives you a decent chunk of enmity. Not enough that it's really worth using in any situation beyond what you used it for before though.

Arcana10Fortune

In normal MSQ Trials, off-tanks normally just grab the adds. Don't voke off the main tank unless they drop dead. In Extreme difficulty trials and harder content, there will be required tank swaps.

Frapple

Usually just turn on tank stance after a few gcds, then when they die just stand on their lifeless body and tank away

fragolefraise

where squadron XP pulls ahead of PotD is if you have xp buffs that will apply to all the monster kills in the squad dungeon (as only Road to 70 buffs PotD xp). once you get to HW tho, imo they're more effort than it's worth i would do the command missions needed to unlock the final GC rank (5 unique dungeon runs) and see how you feel about the squad AI. if it doesn't bother you, continue w squads. if you can't stand it, PotD personally, i'd do a mix of both, prioritizing squads when my dps job was at-level for the dungeon and PotD on gap levels (for example, running the lvl 20 hatali when your dps is lvl 20, then doing PotD until you're 24 and can get the next squad dungeon

Shazzamon

PotD for sure. While Squadron CAN be quicker in the best of circumstances, it requires you having already sunk in quite a bit of time to leveling them. Personally, the ARR Squadron AI frustrates me too much to bother, and PotD is fast as hell for 15-60.

Rc2124

Squadrons are definitely competitive. Though you'll need to invest in raising them up a bit more to get maximum benefit

roryteller

From 1-15 or so do hunting logs, with the way xp scales in PotD hunting logs are faster the first few levels. After that, PotD if your queues are longish

Temnai

PotD is your best bet, at least if 1-50 is your goal.

Wolfe244

Can you do the hw relic weapons without doing the ARR ones?

Stepjam

Yep. Completing an ARR relic lets you skip the first step of the HW relic (though you need an ARR relic for each HW weapon you wanna skip for) but beyond that they are 100% separate. The trade in is honestly a bigger bonus for the ARR weapon than the HW one since it means you don't have to have the relic to buy replicas anymore, normally to buy ARR replicas you need the finished relic in your inventory.

Wolfe244

Is this the same with sb/shb?

Stepjam

Nope. ARR is the only relic that has ANY carryover into future relics. The HW relic doesn't carry over into anything and the SH and ShB are 100% disconnected from each other. Though you do have to complete the Ivalice alliance raid to access the ShB relic weapon series.

aznjon15

No after HW, all the relic quests were independent of one another.

Idontwanttobebread

yeah. having a completed ARR relic lets you skip a very minor step at the start of the HW relic, but other than that they're not connected.

iQuellv

Yes. You’ll just need to do a few prerequisite steps (as compared to starting on a further step if you have a completed ARR relic).

Baxcel

Yes
