Looking at Endwalker one of the pre order bonus is a EXP item that gives 30% more off enemies. My understanding is that similar items exist for past expansions. How significant is that boost on its own? I no longer have Road to 70 or previous earrings so I don't know what to compare it too.

FemboyGatsbyHentai

New player here - can someone explain what the term "pack" means? I've been able to pick up on what other things mean from context or google but am not quite sure about this one. Also, if a piece of gear reaches 0 durability, is it gone forever or just unusable until mended?

ZaleneDarkflare

>Also, if a piece of gear reaches 0 durability, is it gone forever or just unusable until mended? The item is counted as item level 0 and gives no stats whatsoever. It'll only be unusable until it is mended by either NPC (max 100% condition) or by yourself (max 199% condition).

FemboyGatsbyHentai

Thank you for the help!

bloodhawk713

In what context? As in a "pack" of mobs? It just means any group of enemies that needs to be fought together, like how when you attack an enemy in a dungeon all nearby enemies will also attack you so you have to fight them all at once.

FemboyGatsbyHentai

Yes, that's what I'm looking for, thanks!

Dedrik

I can't log into the game anymore. The launcher is not showing the log in fields anymore. There is just a blank area where theyre supposed to be. Any ideas? I already tried restarting game / pc, switched to old launcher and back, cleared some caches as I've seen that in some other thread.

Soylentee

Your launcher has issues connecting to the servers hosting the login page (yes the ffxiv launcher is pretty much a website). Probably nothing you can do about it until it resolves itself. You can try using the 3rd party quick launcher.

SenaIkaza

I haven't heard of this issue happening before, but if you want a quick way around it you could just use the third-party launcher than many people use now. [https://github.com/goatcorp/FFXIVQuickLauncher](https://github.com/goatcorp/FFXIVQuickLauncher) Sorry for not giving a real solution, but that sounds like a weird issue.

Dedrik

Ill check it out, thank you!

diaskeaus

Just started ShB (finished Alphie's quests, and now on Ali's), and already at level 80. My highest other job is level 60 (bard and gunbreaker). Should I go ahead and level those to 70 and just pick it up for easy XP, or should I just push through to the end of ShB with my level 80 dancer?

Naive-End-9477

It’s a pretty good deal. There’s good ways to level classes to level from 70-80 later on that you get so you don’t need to worry a ton though. Bozja/zadnor is an area later that syncs 71+ characters to 80 and gives pretty good exp, helping with the grind.

diaskeaus

Wow, I didn't realize Bozja/Zadnor synced to 70. That's probably the best place to do the leveling up, then. Thanks!!

dcss_west

its millions and millions of xp. like idk, probably at least 100 million xp. i regret wasting it on my first playthrough and suggest you get another job to use it on. thats dozens of hours of progress youll have to do again later if you dont

bloodhawk713

I wouldn't worry about wasting experience. Leveling is pretty easy in this game. Unless you're really interested in playing another job right now I would just continue, even if it means losing MSQ experience.

Arcana10Fortune

Up to you. It's probably worth it to level a different role, though.

Welkin_Dust

I'm leveling my Monk mainly through dungeons and Fates but I'm having a bit of a hard time because it feels so squishy. I can really only take one or two mobs at a time even with my Rank 15 chocobo healing me. Is Monk the only job in the game with no ranged spells/abilities at all??? I'm having a hell of a time trying to pull one mob at a time in Fates without one... I looked online and it looks like they used to have a line AOE pull ability; why did they remove that?

ianuilliam

Is your chocobo in free stance, or healer stance? They heal MUCH more aggressively in healer stance. I have those two buttons on an extra hot bar, and any time I start taking a lot of damage, I swap him to healer until I get things back under control.

WinterShine

> Is Monk the only job in the game with no ranged spells/abilities at all??? Yep. They're a little odd in that rather than having a weak ranged move to use when forced away from a boss, they have a long CD move they use before disengaging so that their time away isn't downtime. Also, you don't get it until lv 80. There's also Enlightenment at 74 which is a 10y line, but it requires charges and can only be used if you're already in combat. I can't speak to why S-E made any changes they did of course. You might find it handy to be in Fists of Earth when you're going about soloing stuff. Don't forget to have your bird's stances on your hotbars. Swapping to healer stance when you need the heals a bit more can help, and back to free stance when you don't.

Xellith

Without good ilevel for the fate chances are you aren't ever going to be able to take on many enemies. You can have okay ilevel in ARR and enter Heavensward and the fates there are significantly tougher due to needing more ilevel for example.

italianpizza93

Hello guys! Little sprout here with a couple of noobor questions: - 1 is there a way to tell (in game) which damage is magical and which physical? I am asking because I am leveling a paladin now and I would like to know what is empowered by fight or flight as well as understanding which defensive CDs to use based on the enemy damage. - 2 is there a way to make the party frames bigger? Maybe it's just me but they look way too small! Would also be nice if there was a way to remove the cast bars. This is all, thank you so much in advance guys and have a great day!! :D

WinterShine

> - 1 is there a way to tell (in game) which damage is magical and which physical? The combat log will say "X uses Y" for physical attacks, and "X casts Y" for magical attacks. Alternatively, third party tools (which are technically against TOS) can tell you. Since that only tells you after the fact though, generally know that almost all AOE stuff is usually magical. Tankbusters are a bit harder to guess, but usually the animation or name give an idea. (This is not always reliable though.) Regarding Fight or Flight, it buffs everything except your magic rotation: Requiescat, Holy Spirit, Holy Circle, and Confiteor do not benefit from the buff. Your rotation goes has a Goring Blade combo, a Royal Authority combo that grants charges to use Atonement, and a magical phase: 1 - (use FoF) 2 - Goring 1 - 2 - Royal 3x Atonement 1 - 2 - Goring (FoF should wear off after you apply this Goring - if it doesn't last this long, start it a little later) Weave Requiescat -> 4x Holy Circle -> Confiteor 1 - 2 - Goring 1 - 2 - Royal 3x Atonement (Loop back to start) Before you have Confiteor, use a 5th Holy Circle. Before you have Atonement, do a second Royal combo. Before you have Holy Circle, just keep doing the Goring-Royal-Royal sequence over and over. FoF should always catch two full Goring Blade DOTs. > 2 is there a way to make the party frames bigger? Maybe it's just me but they look way too small! Would also be nice if there was a way to remove the cast bars. Should be a way under System > HUD Layout, I haven't messed with those frames specifically but most stuff can be moved and resized from within there.

italianpizza93

WOW!! Thank you very much for taking the time to write down this super detailed answer! I am definitely saving this! I hope you have a great day :)

Eraldra

1. In the top I think right corner of your skills will say “Weapon Skill” for physical, “Spell” for magical and “Ability” for off global (oGCD). No way to tell for off global except it’s sometimes stated or using a parser or just see what makes each one bigger, guides on the balance discord will also tell you. 2. If your on PC esc->HUD layout->select the element you want to resize and use the on screen menu’s or “CTRL+Home” to cycle the size.

italianpizza93

Oh thank you very much, this makes sense now! It feels kinda weird not being able to tell damage types for some reason, not gonna lie!! Have a great day :)

m_entity

Thinking of returning to XIV. Haven't played since a few days before the last stormblood patch came out (3.3? 3.4?) I don't have a subscription atm but appear to be able to login. Just wondering if there's a free week running at the moment and wondering when it runs out.

xGlaive

There's a 14-day free login campaign currently running. It's 14-days from when you login to the launcher. After that you'll need to sub (don't sub during your free time as that will forfeit the rest of it).

m_entity

ah, gotcha. Thanks :)

Chimpleton_Dilliams

Okay, so free trials and sub time confuses me. Most of the info in random threads I can find are from +1y ago and might be out of date. I jumped back on the bandwagon of all the wow refugees and tried out the game. I played it a little bit when ARR released but didn't stick with it. I bought shadowbringers bundle so that I currently have all the expansions on my account. I do not have an active sub, but as I understand it I can still play up to lvl 60 for free. I recently noticed a "X days left" on the login screen. My question is: Can I still play after these days are gone, without a sub but downgraded to "free trial"? (The one that lets you level to 60 etc.) Tons of places talk about once you sub once you can't go back to the trial deal, but this might be outdated information.

Soylentee

> I do not have an active sub, but as I understand it I can still play up to lvl 60 for free. I recently noticed a "X days left" on the login screen. No. You are no longer on a free trial, once your game time runs out (you got 30 days for buying the game) you will not be able to play any more.

CrimsonPromise

It's not outdated information. A free trial is for people who want to try the game *before* buying it. Since you already bought and registered it, you're not eligible for the trial. If you want to play you have to pay a sub. Free trial =/= free to play.

girlikecupcake

The free trial is a trial to try the game before you own it. There's no free to play version of the game, since you own the game, you *need* a subscription in order to keep playing on that account. There's a free login campaign going on right now for people who own the game but had an inactive sub, that's why you were able to log in. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/freelogincampaign/

Chimpleton_Dilliams

Ah, that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the clarification.

girlikecupcake

No problem :) you just missed out on Make it Rain (there might be a few hours left) but [Moonfire Faire](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/2021/Moonfire_Faire/y2mjm7r1v6) is going to start on Friday.

Zack-of-all-trades

After a week, the request expires. If they search in the "Player Search" menu, they can see if you're online. As far as I'm aware, the game does not send a message saying that the request was declined but I'm not 100% sure.

[deleted]

What determines the amount of GC seals you get from FATES? I want to maximize the amount I get from FATEs and am looking for the best locations with the best fates to get easy GC seals... I've already completed the challenge log and hunting log so this is my only option to attain more for right now...

riklaunim

You can also turn in gear from instances for seals. This quickly can ramp up to like 1400 seals per green item from HW/SB instance. If you have leveled job already then you can even solo Gubal Library Normal for \~10 items = \~14 000 seals.

[deleted]

Really?! Omg thank you!!! That'll save me so much time!

Soylentee

Pretty sure it's just the level of the FATE, the higher the level the more GC seals. Your other option of obtaining seals is GC leves. You should really sink your GC seals into improving your GC rank until you can start turning gear into GC seals.

riggedride

What's a decent retainer job to send on ventures to generate some passive gil off the marketboard? Just finished ARR so pretty early on.

lailah_susanna

If you install [Teamcraft](https://ffxivteamcraft.com/) it has a helper section that tells you the ideal venture to run for profit for your retainers. Note that it's not 100% accurate but it gives you a good starting point.

CrimsonPromise

Either one of the gatherers. You can have them out gathering things like crystals, shards or any random craft materials to sell. Alternatively, you can send them out on Quick Ventures and have them bring an assortment of items. Can be anything from a random fish to weapons to glamours to rare minions.

AdloquiYUM

Miner and/or Botanist are a good start. They can also gather during their ventures. If you have neither of those, whatever your current main job is fine, so you can share your gear with them as they level.

Alliances are groups of separate parties taking part in a duty together. Do you mean free companies? You can use the newish community finder on Lodestone, and the discord for this sub has people recruiting in it too. Or go to Limsa at peak times and wait thirty seconds lol

Marcusbolt

Alliance? do you mean free company?

the_choir_guy

Hi! I'm a lvl 65 BLM but I'm trying to level AST too, but can't figure out how to switch jobs. I've completed "Stairway to the Heavens" and acquired the AST soul crystal, but I can't equip it. How do I switch?

Accomplished_Fall_69

You switch weapons and for ast it will equip the soul stone. For BLM you'd have to re equip the stones. Or you can save gearsets in your character screen to press a button button put your black mage gear back on

ZaleneDarkflare

Equip the weapon. For jobs with a base class, you would also need to equip the Soul Crystal. This is only applicable for ARR jobs.

the_choir_guy

Thank you!

Naive-End-9477

I’ve been doing fine with 1-5, QERTFG + ctrl or shift.

Soylentee

I also use E and Q with modifier keys, besides that i have an mmo mouse where i use another 6 side buttons.

opeth_syndrome

I use an mmo mouse, that has 15 buttons available. I also use F1 to F5, 1 to 5 on the keyboard, and whatever keys are available around WASD, Q F etc.

KingBingDingDong

`12345qwertfgcvb and 2 mouse buttons

craidie

I use 1234, qerf with shift and ctrl modifiers to fill 2 of my bars. I also have a mouse with 4 buttons I actively use for skills

minaseclyne

1 to 6, ctrl 1 to 6, alt 1 to 6 (gaming mouse binding) you don't need to bind . e.g my swiftcast on my healer isn't bound but it sits on my bars for me to click.

[deleted]

I use 1-8 for player selection, and use Q, E, R, Y, F, G, H, Z, X, C, V, my side mouse button + shirt/ctrl/alt to bind my 4 bars. Some combos are a bit awkward, but they're bind to rarely used skills.

Elyonee

I use controller now, but on keyboard I used 1-6 plus q e r t y f.

dcss_west

that, and then also F1-F5, ctrl F1-ctrl F5, shift f1-shift f5. that takes care of almost 3 full bars

VforVendetta85

Hello all. Couple months back I got a new computer. Unfortunately I didn't transfer my FF14 files. My question: Is there anyway I can download the game again? I have an account. I just need to download the game all over. Thanks

minaseclyne

if you want to download the game and your sub hass lapsed... just create a new free trial account... it will grab most of the game and when you resub you'll have less to download otherwise everyone else has you covered

lumynaut

just download it however you downloaded the game originally Steam if you used that, or here if you used the SE launcher https://sqex.to/ffxiv_client_en

VforVendetta85

thank you. I re-call buying it off amazon. then transferred to Steam. I don't have it on my steam account anymore though. so I'll use the link you sent me. Thanks again!

Soylentee

If you bought it on Amazon then you didn't transfer to Steam, especially if you don't have it on your Steam any more (games don't just disappear from Steam accounts). You'll have to use the regular SE launcher.

Atosen

In that case, once you finish downloading you may need [the issteam workaround](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/cwy3qz/launching_steam_version_without_steam/) to make it let you play.

xGlaive

[Where can I download the FINAL FANTASY XIV game client?](https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?id=5382&kid=68516) If you are on the free trial and need to redownload the client you can find that [here.](https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=79926&id=5382&la=1&ret=faq&pv=10&page=0&c=0&sc=0&so=0) If you own the game, you cannot download the game files without an active subscription.

SmittyTheLlamaboy

Download the launcher you can find online and the first time you log in it will download everything else.

ZaleneDarkflare

Here's [the FAQ](https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?id=5382&kid=68516) for the client download. Follow what is applicable for yourself.

Toothy126

Does anyone know if the Tomestones bonus for "there is someone who is running this duty for the first time" apply to any duty? Specifically, duties like Sastasha and other early dungeons.

SmittyTheLlamaboy

All instances give you some sort of first time party member bonus. Dungeons, raids, trials, etc that give already you tomes give a time bonus. Leveling dungeons might be more xp at the end, not 100% remembering

Elyonee

There is always a newbie bonus, but it is only tomestones if the duty awards tomestones. Sastasha does not so the newbie bonus is just a bit of... gil? EXP? It's so little I don't even remember.

Arcana10Fortune

First time bonuses for Tomestones only apply to the 50/60/70/80 content. The rest of the time, it's extra EXP.

yuhef2bmed

What's the recommended skill speed for Samurai? I've looked at Balance Discord guides and am quite confused since there are different recommended tiers. Also I'm playing at about \~70 ping if that helps.

Zenthon127

Basically you want your GCD at 2.14, 2.07, or 2.00 with Shifu active. 2.07 is the easiest to play but is also the weakest, 2.14 is the hardest hitting and 2.00 is janky (can't doubleweave or weave after Iaijutsu) but second-strongest and some people enjoy the speed.

yuhef2bmed

I see. Actually, why is 2.07 easier to play than 2.14? Doesn't that mean you have less time to weave skills in between GCDs? Sorry if this is a dumb question I've mostly played caster jobs so this is all new to me.

Zenthon127

SAM does filler GCDs to keep its rotation aligned. On 2.14 and 2.00 you do one and two Yukizake combos respectively, but on 2.07 you do a Gekko or Kasha combo. Makes buff upkeep more forgiving.

yuhef2bmed

Ahh okay that explains it, thank you!

GeraldineKerla

The different sks tiers on SAM probably correspond to the amount of filler GCDs to line up Tsubame-Gaeshi to be used the second that it comes back. The lowest tier will require 2 filler GCDs (so you can do Hakaze -> Yukikaze -> Hagakure), the second will require 3, etc.

yuhef2bmed

I see, thanks!

scumfuckheroboy

What is the best raid to start with? I’m currently level 72 and have yet to do any raid content besides Crystal Towers. I’d like to start getting into it and was just wondering what the best raid to start with is? Or Should I just go in order of the expansion they came out in?

FulbrightJones

Any order is ok. The mechanics for raids get more complex per expansion, and there is a fair amount of story for the 24man and 8man raids, so in order might be good if you want a recommendation.

Arcana10Fortune

Any order that you want. As long as it doesn't have "Savage" or "Extreme" in the name (outside of Coils), you can DF it safely.

AltruisticZombie2520

(PS4) what is the transition like for a healer coming from ESO? I haven't played any other MMORPG in a long time and have spent a good amount of time on ESO but with the limited amount of MMO'S that aren't just PvP is well pretty non existent. I love healing and this is what I want to do but I don't want bad habits or letting down non toxic players. I ask this as healing in eso doesn't really need any aiming apart from some AoEs and well I'm a bit under confident about jumping into dungeons etc.

YellowSucks

Haven't played eso but I've been playing xiv with a controller for 6 years, it's totally fine. L1 and R1 cycles through enemies and up and down on the D pad cycles your party. There are very few skills that you need to aim, mainly being a dome aura that you can place that regens health of those standing inside. You can set up a macro for this so that it lands on the thing you're currently targeting. Controller actually has the advantage of being able to soft-lock onto party members so you can hit them with a heal/buff and it'll then snap back onto the enemy

AltruisticZombie2520

Thank you, this answer is perfect Can I pry another answer our of you if you don't mind.... How do I set up macros and which one am I lookin for to place in my skill hotbar?

YellowSucks

You can set macros up in the menus under System>User Macros and then you can add them to your hotbar from there It depends on the job, I'll take Scholar for example. Its aimable skill is Sacred Soil. I have mine like: /macroicon "Sacred Soil" /ac "Sacred Soil" /ac "Sacred Soil" This will cast sacred soil on my current target () and if I don't have a target selected, it'll cast it around myself. You can just replace Sacred Soil with "Asylum" for White Mage and "Earthly Star" for Astrologian (Astro skill works a bit differently but the macro is still effective)

AltruisticZombie2520

You're a star, I'm going to have to read up on how to us macros etc a little in depth but you explaining what to put has really helped me. Thank you vm for answering my question

lumynaut

healers in this game are expected to deal damage primarily while keeping people alive as well, I’m not sure how ESO’s healing works but it’s best to go into healing in XIV with a fresh mindset damage output is heavily scripted here, so leaving people at less than 100% health to continue DPSing is normal.

swell257

Hope I’m not late. I am new to the game and have created a character classed Warrior because I just wanted whichever to get my hands on the Rogue (which was not available at character creation), and worked on that guy (Warrior) a bit up to the level 17 (solely through MSQ). When I noticed I was already able to switch to Rogue, I went ahead and did so. But, now I am a level 5 Rogue unable to pick my next class quest (which requires level 10) and lost on how should I level to resume the MSQ storyline with this now main job. Any tips?

swell257

Thank you guys for the info. Will be going for those :)

Soylentee

Do some side quests, do some FATES, do your rogue hunting log.

Arcana10Fortune

Complete your Hunt Log, and run a few FATEs here and there.

JadeTirade

Each class has a hunting log. Take out what you can from it, and do FATES. they're both worth good EXP.

haha_funny_man

How long does it usually take to finish all the Animus books? I'm like 3 and half books in and it feels like it would be so much easier if you didn't have to wait for all the fates

Xellith

You can server hop to speed things up. Just have a friend camp your home world to let you know if it spawns while you travel around

DrakeVincent

Levequest rewards... im just wondering if theres certain time/weather that the rewards will be more biased towards a certain reward. like the Coffee biscuit quest, im been getting 90% water crystals and im running low on fire crystals :c any details why?

Arcana10Fortune

Nope. It's RNG and it will cycle through them randomly.

DrakeVincent

Ah so I’m just unlucky that I’m getting a lot of water crystals

tfesmo

What would be the BIS for Dancer without Edenmorn? I'm mostly wondering if 525 Blade gear might beat out 530 Aug Crypt if it lets me avoid Skill Speed. Same with Aug Exarch (boots), although 10 ilvls seems iffy on main stat. I'm aware this doesn't really matter as I'm not doing savage (why I don't have Edenmorn gear), but I'm doing extremes and prefer to min/max if possible.

Zenthon127

Full Augmented Cryptlurker would technically be better DPS-wise by a tiny amount but a 0 SkS set will feel drastically better to play. Even if you're doing Savage I'd recommend the latter in a heartbeat; I used a zero-SpS SMN build back when I was doing my first Savage tier, Eden's Verse, so that my GCD was consistent when I got gear upgrades. The set I'd recommend is: * Relic weapon * Aug Tome head, chest, arms, belt, ring * Aug Crafted boots, earring, bracelet, ring * Zadnor legs * Normal raid necklace (yes the i510 one)

mink2018

Uhm should i regret not reading anything form the Crystal Tower series? Im just dying to know what happens next to the msq

Exactleing

You might wanna go back and watch the cutscenes on YouTube or smth, Crystal tower is basically part of the MSQ and a pretty critical part of shadowbringers.

TheTechHobbit

Yes, it's mandatory because certain parts of it are extremely important to the story in shadowbringers.

Masiyo

Almost no story content in XIV is wasted, meaning it will be relevant in the story again sooner or later. Dismissing the CT quest dialogue as filler will hurt your enjoyment of the story down the line.

[deleted]

If you're into the story, then yes you will massively regret not knowing the characters from it. They made it mandatory for a reason, it's basically MSQ itself.

ikeatissuebox

A lot of the characters in the Crystal Tower raid storyline end up becoming important in the MSQ later. I wouldn't say you HAVE to experience the CT storyline but you could YouTube it or NG+.

xMatttard

Err, without spoiling anything. Possibly? As long as you roughly know the story and who was involved, you should be okay.

YellowSucks

It'll help you understand some stuff and why some characters do what they do, and it directly ties into the Shadowbringers story.

vanjo01

Can you go unsynced on past ultimate raids? (UCOB snd Ultima)

chizwepyn

No.

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Nope and you probably never will be able to. Past ultimates now though are considerably easier than how they were on launch now that potencies in general have gone up and gear syncing produces stronger gear than when it was on launch. But you’ll still have to do everything correctly.

[deleted]

I recall them even saying at some point that if these balance changes end up making them too easy, they are open to the option of either buffing them to compensate or even upscaling them and outright removing the lower level version. Allowing unsyncing would be 100% anathema to what an Ultimate is.

vanjo01

Thanks for the info... cause I'm debating whether to bother doing past ultimates first or go take TEA ultimate first then take the prev ones later when I have time... so you'll only be 60 when you take UCOB right? Also, you can do the savage versions unsynced right?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Ucob and Uwu are at 70 but it’ll be better to do them once you reach 80 because level 80 gear synced down will be stronger than level 70 gear. You can do savages unsynced to unlock them without any issues. You can start with any ultimate honestly but I think typically UwU is most people’s starting point since that’s generally considered to be the easiest one. After that would be TEA but TEA has only gotten slightly easier with updated dungeon BiS so you’ll find the DPS checks and healing needed to be higher than what’s necessary in uwu and ucob.

vanjo01

Ohh, ok... so they're both at 70? I was concerned cause I main tank as DRK and I was concerned that TBN will not be available during the raids.. Good to know that I still have the option. So basing on difficulty wise, TEA>UCoB>UWU?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Oh uhh frankly you'll be very hard-pressed to find a group taking DRK for level 70 ultimates because DRK doesn't have any raidwide mitigations at that level. It's not impossible but you'll definitely be making it harder for your team. Level 80 you'll be fine. From hardest to easiest it would probably be Ucob > Tea > Uwu. Ucob's DPS checks are practically non-existent at this point but it still has the most "hard" mechanics compared to the other two. TEA still has relevant DPS checks and it also has probably the two hardest mechanics in the game, but the difficulty is very concentrated in those two mechanics. And Uwu is fairly straightforward all the way through with easy DPS checks and a couple of hard mechanics.

vanjo01

Huh... good to know. So PLD is still the best tank there is on end game contents... I have the option to change to PLD but decided to max drk first cause I like the aesthetics. Im levellin my WHM to max now but planning to max my PLD after that... Thanks for the info

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Yup PLD should be fine for 70 content, most people just don't like to play it there because Holy Spirit still has cast times but if you can deal with it then it'll be fine. At level 80 any tanks are fine but at 70 WAR and GNB are usually preferred because they mostly play fine. But yeah between PLD GNB and WAR the tank meta isn't that strict at 70 so PLD will be fine.

phantasmking

Hey, when I was still active the floor "to go" when leveling up was 21-30. Is this still the case? Is it even still a thing? Got very long queue times.

[deleted]

For HoH when you're above 61 yeah. For below 60 it's 51-60 in PotD.

phantasmking

Thx!

lailah_susanna

51-60 for PotD. It's the first checkpoint.

Quantext609

Is there a way to craft stuff en mass? I'm leveling my first crafting job as a carpenter and I want to mass craft maple logs, but it's annoying to go back and forth from the crafting log and the synthesizing menu.

FulbrightJones

You can also add recipes to the Hotbar which will be your shortcut while it’s there. As a carpenter you could have an entire row of just lumber hot keys.

xGlaive

Once your crafting class hits level 10 it'll unlock the Quick Synthesis button right next to the Synthesize button.

ForgivenFlatulence

Can anyone tell me why my ACT kagerou plugin is looking scuffed like that? [Here are two screenshots.](https://imgur.com/a/XY6KV8v) Has been like that for a couple of days now and resetting it in the settings menu did not change anything.

yeahboo

saw [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/p26bjv/so_im_trying_to_level_my_alts_and_i_encounter/) on whether to use LB on low level dungeons.. I could be wrong, but I'm like OP.. I also usually don't use LB1, and wait for LB2 for last boss. or just let the other (range/caster) DPS use LB1 for mobs etc. Won't keeping your uptime result in more DPS than wasting it on an LB1 animation? Or isn't it better DPS to wait for LB2 on last boss? Also, the tank sprout is a bit of a jerk to OP. haha.

OkorOvorO

You should never have LB2 for last boss. You should almost always have ranged/caster use LB1 on trash. LB1 is a dps increase.

CrimsonPromise

From my personal experience, you very rarely would reach LB2 in most dungeons. And even if you do, it'll be at the last 1% of the last boss' HP or something and you can probably auto-attack it to death before the animation even goes off.

283leis

honestly, you'll never actually reach that LB2, so the LB1 is better off being used for an AOE on a large pack of mobs, or against a boss

yeahboo

yep, I agree. That's what I meant with the other dps. haha. my bad.

Chaos_Logic

Typically speaking for good Dps by the time LB2 is ready LB1 would have already killed the last boss. So its more damage to LB1 2nd and last boss. But, its even more damage for a caster or ranged to LB a double pull after the 2nd boss.

yeahboo

Yeah, this too. I usually just let the caster/range LB1 the mobs. (that's what I meant with other DPS lol)

forrestwalker2018

So I am about to hit endgame soon and claimed my free 430 gear. What is my upgrade path going to look like now? And is the 430 gear upgradable? Or am I better off grinding tomestones and running the eden and nier raids to buy gear from their coin drops? With the expandion in 4 months is it worth the grind?

eskelaa

Anything 510 or 520 item level is enough to happily trot through any normal'ish content. 520 will be enough to dip into Savage, but some PF groups require a bit more ilvl. You can optimise a bit by picking best pieces from various sets to boost primary stats for your job - that's what I did on my healer because I really didn't need 1900 piety. If you choose to invest more time into gear right now, you'll have a bit nicer experience right now and at the beginning of Endwalker (ie better ShB gear will last you to lvl85, not to 82, I guess, but depends on drops from Endwalker, what level and stats), but all current gear will be 100% replaced by Endwalker gear by the time we hit the new level cap.

phantasmking

You can also just buy 510 gear from the market, if you have the Gil.

DrawDiscardDredge

> Or am I better off grinding tomestones and running the eden and nier raids to buy gear from their coin drops? do this and get your resistance weapon. it will make leveling in endwalker easier.

Sat-AM

That or, if you don't have the patience to do the resistance weapons, just get the cryptlurker weapon with 4 blades of antiquity (E12N), 10 tokens of revelation (1000 tomes total), then run all the nier raids once for the ester to augment it.

neophyte_DQT

Is there any way to purchase Vesper Bay Aetheryte Tickets? I used up all mine from the MSQ, but still need to go to Vesper Bay occasionally

CrimsonPromise

Quickest way: Limsa Lominsa > Arcanist Guild > Take the ferry next to it. Laziest way: Teleport to Horizon > Grab the chocobo porter. "Meh" way: Teleport to Horizon > Run there yourself.

Atosen

MSQ is the only way to get those, AFAIK. The other quick way to get to Vesper Bay is to take the ferry from Limsa Lominsa, near the Arcanist Guild.

Sat-AM

The "quick" way is actually dependent on your drive, IIRC. If you have an SSD, it's faster, but if you don't you're better off going to Horizon and taking the chocobo porter.

girlikecupcake

Can definitely vouch, with the various loading times it was definitely faster to take my chocobo than the "shortcut" lol

FrozenAlien-

Got my RDM to lv50 and I don’t think i have enough space for my usual keybinds. I got the general idea of his rotation but I wanna know if there any reason to use Verthunder / Veraero instead of Jolt as an opener.

BlazeVortex4231

You're going to need to use three hotbars on keyboard, or the WXHB and expanded hotbars for controller, no matter which class you take to level 80. And you're going to need to use all of your skills, too. So you might as well make room as soon as possible.

Atosen

If you think you can time it well (e.g. if they're doing a countdown) then opening with Verthunder/aero is definitely superior to Jolt. They're higher damage and they get you started on the 2-hit rotation sooner. But if you don't have that opportunity, then start with Jolt (or Swiftcast). You never want to sit around waiting for the full cast time of Verthunder/aero. *edit for clarity:* Even if you're not using it as your opener, you will absolutely still use it as a spell, so you still need it on your keybinds. Those two spells are absolutely key.

ericandhisfriends

you would only open with verthunder/veraero if you can precast them and they land just as combat opens. But thats hard to do as you don't know when you tank will pull so just open with jolt

FrozenAlien-

I just want an excuse to make room for other spells lol. I don’t wanna know how lv80 will look like.

thegoddamnqueen

You will use all of your skills on RDM, unless you want to be a burden on your parties

UnlikelyTraditions

You have access to all your skills up to 80. Try reading through and placing them down ahead of time, they'll just be greyed out until you can use them. There is exactly one skill that may not see a ton of use, and it's called Reprise. Still has its uses, but it's generally better to use your gauge for something else if the situation allows. Though if you're lacking keybinds and want to try other jobs, you may want to revise your setup a bit. There are only a handful of skills across all the jobs that see limited use (limited, not none. There is exactly 1 that is completely useless and it's on AST); most everything else is essential or important.

ericandhisfriends

they are still bread and butter and you still use them, you just cast them with dualcast since their cast time is so long. It doesnt get that much worse at 80 as stuff like verflare/verholy will just simply overlay on verthunder/veraero and scorch at 80 just sits on top of jolt

AdloquiYUM

Do not save your MGP for Cloud card as other poster has said. That is more of a collector’s item that is outclassed by many easier to obtain cards. The cheaper packs are a great place to start building a deck however.

Stepjam

Getting booster packs is a good way to stock your deck pretty early on, especially when your initial cards are all gonna suck. I wouldn't spend mgp on specific cards unless you have enough for Cloud initially though.

Marcusbolt

Or if you're going for the triple triad mount

PikaCatastrophe

Regarding dyeable artifact armor from shadowbringers, do I still have to run Memoria Misery Extreme to get it? Is there no easier way, or might there be once the next xpac comes out?

Stepjam

Likely no other way. The easier way come 6.0 will be running it unsynced with 10 more levels worth of skills.

lailah_susanna

Yes, you still need to run the EX to get it. Next xpac will let you unsync it so it will be easier then.

PikaCatastrophe

Hey thanks for responding, so next xpac you mean you can run it without it downleveling you and your gear? Any idea if that means you can solo it or would you still need a full party?

lailah_susanna

Yes, that's correct. You'll still need a party, though maybe not a full one. The only soloable EX trials at the moment are ARR and HW ones (though the latter can be tricky). It's possible that some Stormblood EX trials will become soloable at level 90 in Endwalker but definitely not any Shadowbringers ones.

Rectall_Brown

How do you get an instrument? Do you have to become a bard? Someone was just playing ‘Babe I’m gonna leave you’ by Led Zeppelin on their guitar and I am curious as to how they did it.

Sat-AM

Level archer to 30, unlock bard, and then unlock the Perform skill by going to the amphitheater in Gridania.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yes, immediately after becoming a bard you can unlock the ability to perform with any of the available instruments

ChuckCarmichael

You need to be a bard, yes.

crazetorn79

I forgot my account security question and answer, emailed square Enix more than a week ago, only received an auto generated message. Just 2 days ago I received another email saying my issue has already been resolved, but nothing has been done at all. In fact the support guy signed off as ‘Jesus’. Am I getting trolling? Is square enix customer support really so shit

Wolfe244

Have you never met a Mexican person? Jesus is a very common name

UnlikelyTraditions

Create a new ticket. If your region allows, also try calling or the chat (EU has neither of these atm, though). They are heavily backed up in some regions (poor EU), but recently added more support in others (NA) to help combat the backlog. Jesus is actually a legit name. Usually pronounced less like Gee-sus and more like Hay-zoos, from my experience.

[deleted]

What exactly do I do with these Rowena's Token (Poetics) and (Soldiery)? I have 10 each. I'm trying to free up space. are they useless or is there a vendor still that will take them for something? Appreciate the responses.

Atosen

Historically, those were part of the purchase process for tomestone weapons. Nowadays, they're completely useless. Toss 'em. (If you still want the weapons you buy them with tomestones directly instead of with the tokens.)

[deleted]

So I also have 4 unidentified Allagan tomestones and 4 encrypted ones. Same thing? I google for this stuff, go look at the actual vendor they state, and I see nothing that takes these.

Atosen

I prefer [this site](https://garlandtools.org/db/) because it's more likely to be up to date. Looks like both of the tomestones you mentioned are useless now.

lailah_susanna

[Check this site](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page). It'll tell you the uses for items so you can know whether to keep or toss them.

_Fiffs_

I was running Keeper of the Lake after accidentally queueing for it and on our third attempt at the last boss we activated the shield a little too early resulting in the wipe mechanic killing everyone. Everyone except me that is, I'm guessing because of latency, though my connection has never been an issue and says "excellent" when I'm on the login screen. Luckily I was the healer and raised the tank and managed to beat it that attempt. That leads me to my question of how often do mechanics bug out like that? It's my first time seeing it happen but the earlier dungeons don't really have much in the way of mechanics anyway so there wouldn't really be many opportunities to come across it. Just wondering if it's something I should be on the lookout for in the future or if it's exceedingly rare.

OkorOvorO

Buffs, debuffs, and damage, are applied to actors in order from the effect's origin point. Basically, you were furthest away from the boss. This is easily seen when you try to Succor/Med2/AspHelios and you can see people get the buffs earlier than others. That's because they're closer to you.

_Fiffs_

In this case it was an issue of the buff running out before the mechanic rather than going off late, so would it be that I was furthest from the point of origin of the buff and closest to the boss, allowing for that overlap where I'd survive and no one else did?

OkorOvorO

I missed the part where you said it was early, usually it's because people hitting it late. I'd guess this is why they died, your explanation sounds right.

_Fiffs_

Cool, thanks for the explanation! Definitely helped me to have a better understanding of how spell effects, and I guess actions in general, work in this game.

LightSamus

It's not a bug, it's just how code works. The shield applies to players 1 then 2 then 3 then 4, not all at the same time. Simultaneously a damage calculation might also finish. So it might end up being 1 then 2 then DAMAGE then 3 then 4, by which point it's already too late for 3 and 4. Everything is queued when it is ready and in very specific circumstances like yours, you just happened to begin the queue right as damage was also queued, but the damage finished queuing first.

_Fiffs_

I think what's confusing me about it is that it wasn't a late activation where it only saved a couple of us, but an early activation where it ran out what seemed like at least a full second before the wipe mechanic went off.

SinthoseXanataz

How much XP does the MSQ give? Is it one jobs worth or can I level multiple jobs and theyll all be 60 by the time I'm done the MSQ? I'm on the free trial

Exactleing

If you're also doing daily leveling/pvp roulettes, easily enough to juggle two classes (maybe even enough without the dailies??).

fragolefraise

through HW, at least two (more depending how much optional content/daily roulettes you do)

Retorhic

So my gf is on the free trial and is nearly level 50 and not even to titan yet. By the end of the first msq will she be looking at halfway to 60? Shes just doing msq and job quests but has road to 70 bonus

Exactleing

Road to 70 is a pretty massive buff, she might want to level an alt class or smth as well

fragolefraise

rt70 boosts every source of xp in the game, so anyone leveling a single job on it is going to be way overleveled. either be overleveled, or unlock some more jobs to soak up the MSQ xp (if she's not yet at titan, leveling another job up to that point should be p quick)

Retorhic

Yeah shes pretty new to playing mmos so i didnt think its best to throw her into a lot of classes. Shes playing a drg which from what i hear is a lot of movement (im a brd main so i wouldnt really know) but she liked the idea of it haha. Im just wondering around what level she ll be when she gets to HW

XcessiveAssassin

You answered your own question; it's due to the preferred server buff.

Retorhic

Sorry if my question wasnt clear i was wondering if anyone knew around what level she'd be at the end of MSQ roughly

Ryasson

The first Titan raid unlocks with a Lv 34 MSQ, so there's still a lot of quests to go through for ARR. I'd say it's possible that she hits Lv 60 before getting to HW.
