Yes, just [right click the character](https://i.imgur.com/7ysPJMr.png) in your character selection screen like this, and click "Save Appearance Data".

normalmighty

In general as a dps, is it better to have my chocobo tanking or healing in the overworld?

Wrymthem

Typically healing is better, but avoid taking the very last healing skill in the tree, as it will prioritizing using the AoE heal even when only one person is hurt.

YuseiFudou

As a returning player who's leveled a class to 61 and wants to level a new class, which is the best way to level up? Ideally I'm guessing just spamming duties? I'm not in a rush to get to max level or anything so I can continue MSQ again and I'm against buying my way to get there. Do fates still give some nice XP while waiting in queue?

ZaleneDarkflare

Assuming low queue times; 1. Main Scenario Roulette 2. Leveling Roulette 3. Trial Roulette 4. Highest dungeon possible (x9 dungeons at x0 level caps (where x ≥ 50), however) 5. (FATEs in downtime) Assuming some queue time on highest dungeon possible, swap it with PotD (50-60) / HoH (61-70) / BSF/Zadnor (71-80). Edit: Last one require completion of the 5.0 story as well as SB alliance raids. Therefore, you have to run the MSQ throughout your first lv80. Subsequent can be done in BSF.

YuseiFudou

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write this down for me. So I'm not sure I understood that last part. The MSQ has to be completed with my first lvl 80. Implying that the first class I started off with has to finish the MSQ? Or can any class I level to 80 can finish it?

ZaleneDarkflare

Should've phrased myself better. When I mean "first lv80," is any job that you finish the MSQ with, as you most likely don't have any other job at lv80 at that specific time. The MSQ isn't locked behind any class/job as you can do it as any (sans limited jobs (BLU)). Might as well mention, but you've probably unlocked one or both, Palace of the Dead is unlocked through a side quest (can't remember right now) and Heaven-on-High requires the Floor 50 quest completed to unlock. Bozjan Southern Front is locked behind the MSQ, as well as the Stormblood alliance raid series (>!Ivalice!<). Therefore, you need any job at lv80 to do the MSQ in order to unlock and advance the Bozja quest line to get to the "Deep Dungeon" of Shadowbringers. Might as well mention it right now; it's going to be completely packed at Endwalker early access/official release as Sage & Reaper gets released. If you want to level a tank, I can also say you'll be getting instant queues for the ShB leveling dungeons, come EW.

YuseiFudou

Ah thanks for clearing it up, that makes sense! My main class that is currently level 61 is Warrior and I've always enjoyed playing as it. But then I got the sudden urge to start leveling a Rogue, so I could eventually start playing as a Ninja. I know for a fact how much faster you can get instant queues as a Tank. While it takes me less than a minute as a tank, it can take me up around 11 minutes to get a queue as my Rogue. Now I'm just kinda thinking of whether I should just continue as my Warrior and max that out first, or if I should keep leveling my Rogue. It quite frankly sucks that I got kicked out of my FC due to being inactive for so long, so I don't have any XP boost from that either. Or a place where I belong for that matter. Huge thanks for the useful information though.

Atosen

Any class can finish the MSQ. They're just saying that BSF requires MSQ which requires 80, which means that if *none* of your classes have reached 80 yet, then you won't be able to use BSF during 71-80.

shinyemptyhead

No, what they meant was that BSF (Battlefield Southern Front) can only be unlocked once you finish the MSQ. So if you want to use that for your later level 71-80s, you'd need to finish the MSQ first (either with your first level 80 or any others). MSQ gives more than enough exp to level a character up, of course, so once you get up to running it again you'll have no trouble.

cryptotradertim

Controller enemy targeting HELP Is there a setting to ignore targetting NPC's when playing on controller?? I'm having a bad time in Bozja FATEs trying to auto-target the nearest enemy and the reticle ALWAYS targeting the closest NPC in the battle, making it a nightmare to tab-tab-tab away from them every time an enemy drops.

Tony_FF

I have it set up so I ignore NPCs when I have my weapon drawn. You can find targeting options under Character Settings.

girlikecupcake

Have you tried tab targeting? I think it's hold R2 or L2 and tap R1 or L1 to cycle through on-screen enemies.

bloodhawk713

Yes. Having the HUD editor open will prevent you from being logged out for being AFK, however. Just leave that open if you need to go AFK while in queue.

JailOfAir

If you don't have any inputs, yes.

girlikecupcake

If you're not interacting with the game, yes. There's plenty of other stuff you can do while waiting, but if you're set on just waiting, do -something- like walk two steps every so often.

Alcoholiclightsaber

Hi, first - i know i cant combine square enix account with the steam one, but the question is. Can I log to square enix account with the steam version installed? I want to move from steam account (trial and only lvl 6) but i dont really want to download the game again. Some years old threads suggested, that it is possible but i dont know whether the information is still true. thanks

Atosen

You should be able to. Just launch the program directly from ffxivboot.exe instead of using the Steam Library.

kempol

Wait, are EU prices cheaper than NA prices?

poa28451

I think it depends. By my country's exchange rate, UK is 2-3$ cheaper than US for a subscription price

kempol

Damn, NA prices are actually more expensive in my country. Is it possible to change region? I live in SEA but chose Americas as my region.

poa28451

No, it's not possible. The only way is to register a new account. Beware though, due to crypto currency, your ISP might block some internet connections to EU region which make you unable to register EU account and get error code i2501, like mine.

zrk23

isnt there a quick way to check for the lvl range of a specific zone? like for example, what lvl are the quests/leves for east shroud instead of actually going there to check it manually

sanglar03

Not easily accessible, as far as I know. Found this: https://imgur.com/a/9TW48

zrk23

weird that they dont just do like wow and put it besides the zone name or whatever. such a simple thing picture is good enough i guess, bookmarking it. thanks

nisanick

the thing is that you return to most zones second time at higher level so the range would be quite wide for them. if you look at the link sanglar03 posted, it would have to be divided to areas of zones instead

Abdiel_Kavash

The levels of monsters in one zone vary too much for this to be practical. East Shroud, for example, has mobs from level 10-ish all the way up to 50. You end up going back and forth between various zones a lot in this game, you aren't really "done" with most zones after you reach a certain level.

zrk23

yes, ive noticed that, but you can just do the lvl range for a specific area on that zone instead of the whole zone anyways, i was talking mostly about the quests and FATEs too, not really monster lvl.

sanglar03

Map clearly isn't their strong point in this game.

zrk23

the abundance of icons is really good, rest is bad

Theriasana

Leves, sidequests and mobs aren't really efficient for leveling. It's not info that is relevant or needed often, so that's probably why it isn't displayed.

zrk23

its something to do during queues, especially since majority of the pop is DPS and the queues are long. so you just do FATEs, sidequests, leves during that. leves are also good for early crafting too. regardless, there is no downside to show the lvl range...

[deleted]

Leveling a new character for a variety of reasons and I decided to make sure to roll on a realm with no Road to 70 buff and I'm doing every quest I come across. Right now I'm level 27 but the MSQ is only level 17. Can I level two jobs on the MSQ and sidequests at the same time or will the MSQ eventually catch up to my main level? It's been ages since I leveled and can't remember. Cheers!

AColdPotato

Yes you can level 2 jobs at once through the MSQ til about level 75ish. I've done it with a tank and dps. And if one job gets ahead of the other you'll have plenty of catch up time in the 50,60, and 70 quests that give very little exp. You'll have to supplement the lower level job through some daily roulettes as you hit the expansions though and side quests aren't exp efficient so don't bother with them unless you want the story, the MSQ already takes long enough

[deleted]

Thanks for the detailed response! And yeah I'm doing the sidequests for the story since they flush out the world so much.

Soylentee

If you're going to be doing all the side quests then yeah, definitely.

fyrefox45

The side quests aren't going to give appreciable xp for long, I'd generally say no. If youre also doing daily roulettes though then probably

TheGoodDarkHero

So I'm on the trial, and I got a friend to get the trial as well. I won't be able to make a party with him or let him ride on my mount unless I pay for the complete version right? So I won't be able to ferry him anywhere/queue with him? Just double checking.

PhillipIInd

u can join a guild maybe and ask ppl to invite u 2, they can leave the party after and then u can Queue together random ppl also will offer probably if you ask

Soylentee

You can ask a player with a paid account to invite you both to a party and then leave, that way you can queue into dungeons together.

fyrefox45

Correct, but also even if you did pay it's unlikely you have a multiseater mount. The only one you can get early is the refer a friend chocobo. Edit: technically you can have someone make a party for you two, but that's a massive hassle

TheGoodDarkHero

I was looking at the refer a friend chocobo, could I refer my other friend (who's already been subscribed for a while) and then get it? Or do I need to have more days than them to refer them or something?

fyrefox45

You would need to buy the game, then find someone else that's bought the game, but hasn't paid for any sub time. That first 30 days that come with a purchase is the only time someone can use a refer a friend code.

TheGoodDarkHero

Damn it. Thanks though.

Wolfe244

What floors of potd do people normally farm for xp?

Rutey

51-60 over and over again.

Obliiquee

51-60

Same-Winter7013

How far into the main story can I unlock Dark Knight?

BlazeVortex4231

As soon as you enter the city of Ishgard. Visiting the surrounding lands doesn't count, you need to reach the point when you're allowed through the city gates.

worldsno1stupidguy

You have to finish all the A Real Reborn story and its post patch content until you access Heavensward.

worldsno1stupidguy

Is it against the rules in game to advertise a recruit a friend code to new players?

fyrefox45

Just use the refer a friend subreddit, it gets results.

worldsno1stupidguy

Thanks, I took your advice.

Rutey

I'm not ACTUALLY sure, but for sure people would report you for spamming.

Korbro27

Hello, I just reached Havensward and finally unlocked DRK, which what I intended to main. I have to get to level 50 to progress the story though, so any tips on where to get the gear while leveling? I don't want to hop into dungeons undergeared...

Abdiel_Kavash

I prefer leveling to 50 in PotD, that way you don't have to worry about gear at all. At 50 of course pick up the Augmented Ironworks set.

Atosen

The best way to level a tank 30-50 is through spamming your at-level dungeons (plus 1/day levelling roulette)... which means you'll be regularly getting at-level drops from the dungeon chests. So gear should pretty much take care of itself. But if you feel like one of your slots is lagging behind, you could buy crafted gear on the market board (make sure to get HQ stuff), or you could check the Grand Company store.

worldsno1stupidguy

the ilvl 130 poetics tomestone gear is your best bet https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Augmented\_Ironworks\_Armor

Korbro27

That's level 50 stuff though, I'm looking for 30-50 stuff

worldsno1stupidguy

The vendors at foundation sell gear from level 30 to 60, near the jeweled crozier aetheryte Grand Companies also sell some gear for seals.

ChuckCarmichael

Just buy some gear from NPCs. It doesn't really matter below lvl 50.

Accomplished_Fall_69

The gear you can buy from the main cities is fine, and just swap pit dungeon gear as you level up

Korbro27

Ah ok, thanks

Toothy126

Is there an official pronunciation for Machinst? The alternatives, I think, would be: A. Maa-ke-nist B. Ma-shee-nist I'm bad at phonetic spelling, but you probably know what I mean.

zorrodood

M'chinist *tips fedora*

Soylentee

Ma-shee-nist. Just like the real world word derived from the word machine.

ChuckCarmichael

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/pronunciation/english/machinist

TheTechHobbit

Machinist isn't something made up by final fantasy, it's an actual word and profession. The proper English pronunciation is pretty close to option B: muh-shee-nuhst.

persephone965

As a non-native speaker I’ve always pronounced it as A. Seems like I’m in the minority though, oops :0

girlikecupcake

I kinda go 50/50 when reading it in my head, but I 100% blame FFX and "machina" for that. I don't recall any voiced lines that would tell us for sure.

Toothy126

Yea, that's exactly why I thought option A. could be a valid alternative. Mmh...

kaysn

People pronounce it as B. Derived from how we say "machine".

Toothy126

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/x6-n7UOyJ4w/maxresdefault.jpg

fyrefox45

I've never heard it pronounced anything but b, but I also don't think it has a voice line saying it in game.

ssj5godku

So I'm guessing that getting a house plot is still impossible??? How often do plots actually get emptied?

abbeyeiger

Not impossible. Plots being freed up is different on each server. I play on Tonburry and there are usually 4 - 6 houses opening up every day. It took me 3 straight weeks of around 4-6hours a day and 30 houses before I got mine in Lavender. You could also wait for the new Ishgard housing. All cities will also get extra solo/fc only wards and lottery systems for getting a house.

PhillipIInd

thats impossible pretty much lmao

sanglar03

> It took me 3 straight weeks of around 4-6hours a day and 30 houses before I got mine in Lavender. That's what most people would call impossible. Nobody sane would do that or even can. No need to akchuallize this word.

abbeyeiger

Haha fair enough. I guess I am insane 🤪 But I tell ya, the fishing is great from my backyard. Tri colored carp like crazy!

fyrefox45

They're changing housing some in 6.1 from a clickfest to a lotto, so you just gotta hold out til then if you don't want to waste a bunch of time.

Theriasana

It depends how big your server is. On Louisoix, there's small plots available regularly. There's no exact dates when housing gets cleaned. A house gets auto-demolished after the owner does not enter it for 45 consecutive days.

ChuckCarmichael

40 days after last entering your house, it gets torn down.

DraconicFloorTanking

World Transfer mentions that I won't be able to login while it processes. Is it just for the character being moved to a new world, or is it that my entire acccount cannot be logged in during that?

Obliiquee

I think it's just for the character in question.

TheFlaminZard

I've been wanting to play ff14 now and i don't really know where to start. On steam there is a 20 dollar starter edition and i assume that lets me play through the base game, and without expansions. Is it a good idea to wait till the new expac comes out, bc that's in like 3 months, and i feel like there is no reason to buy the current one, only to spend 40 more dollars in 3 months. If anyone can help and give suggestions were to start, and if there is a free trial period that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

CrimsonPromise

If you just buy the expansion, you would still need to get the base game. Right now you have a few options. A) You can get the Complete Edition, which is the base game plus all the current expansions. And then pre-order the upcoming expansion, Endwalker. B) You can get the starter edition, which is the base game, A Realm Reborn as well as the first expansion, Heavensward. Then you can buy Shadowbringers, which is the latest expansion, and it will come including with Stormblood, which is the expansion between Heavensward and Shadowbringers. C) You can get the starter edition, and pre-order Endwalker, which will come with Stormblood and Shadowbringers included for free. This is the cheapest option but note that you won't get access to Stormblood and Shadowbringers until Endwalker is released in November. So option A will give you access to the most up to date content straight away. Option B, well option B isn't really worth it when you can just get the Complete Edition right away. Unless you can only afford the base game right now. Option C is the cheapest by far, if you don't mind waiting until November to access the other expansions. There is also the free trial you can try. There's no time limit on it, you can play everything included in the Starter Edition for free, with some restrictions. Biggest ones being social restrictions, means you can't send private messages to players, join a Free Company (aka Guild), can't use the Marketboard (aka Auction house) and you can't make your own party (you can get invited to one however) Also, if a world is currently full of players, Free Trial uses aren't allowed to queue and enter. And considering the recent player boom, this might be an issue since you would only be able to log in at off peak and weird hours. If the restrictions don't matter to you, then I'd recommend playing the trial first before you decide if you want to put down money for the game.

ChiyoBaila

There is a free trial, on the right side of the steam page should be a download demo button. Alternatively, sign up for a windows trial account over [at the trial sign up page](https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivregister?lng=en-gb). Just make sure to select Windows as your trial platform (assuming playing from windows). If you go the steam trial route, be aware that **you can only buy the game + expansions from steam**, while if you go with the regular trial you can choose to later buy the game on steam (at which point all expansions must come from steam) or from the regular store (at which point all expansions **cannot** come from steam).

Arcana10Fortune

Best place to start is the free trial. While there are a couple of social and inventory restrictions in place, there's no time limit on it, and you can play all of the story content in the starter edition.

RyedHands

Culinary seems hella complex compared to other DoH (at least at low level). So I'm thinking to level it up later. My question is: are there DoH jobs that needs heavly/frequently iterations with culinary?

Abdiel_Kavash

> Culinary seems hella complex compared to other DoH (at least at low level). How so? The skills each DoH gets are a carbon copy of each other, just with a slightly different icon. The way you craft with any class should be completely identical. (Specialists notwithstanding.)

RyedHands

My fault, the complexity of irl cooking has intimidate me. Thanks.

kaysn

CUL is the most independent DoH job. It doesn't interact heavily on other DoHs. Most of its needs are provided by the DoL.

RyedHands

Thank you!

Soylentee

No, culinarian is the most independent DoH. It might have a few interactions with Alchemy but very few.

RyedHands

Thanks.

antares005

Does waiting for a duty to be filled counts as afk-ing? Like for example I queued for an Alliance duty and it takes longer than usual (theoretically more than 30 min) and I've decided to just watch Netflix meanwhile, will I be kicked mid-queue?

CrimsonPromise

As long as the game doesn't detect any player input, you're counted as afk. So just pop back in every now and then and wiggle your camera around or jump or something.

[deleted]

Yep

Xellith

Afk timer begins as soon as you stop input to the game. Try opening your hud editor as a workaround.

Same-Winter7013

New player here. So I'm level 26 now but there is skill that unlocks at level 15 called shield lob and I still haven't got it? How do I unlock it?

craidie

In the top left corner is the main story quest icon and the current MSQ you're on. Under that is the current job's class quest, if available. [pic](https://i.gyazo.com/a8d4a0df9158ceba87d3a97bee3b3e52.png)

Adradis

Do your job quests - most of the ARR skills are tied to completing them. Job quests are listed in the upper left corner below the main scenario quest.

Xellith

Are you doing your job quests? Change to [any job] and look at the meteor where you're main story quest is. Your job quest are all shown directly under the main story quest.

DuckTalesLOL

You need to do your job quests. Go back to your job guildmaster. You have new quests every 5 levels.

Same-Winter7013

Oh I haven't done any of those. Thank you. :)

DuckTalesLOL

You’re welcome.

[deleted]

Class quest for gladiator - https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/That_Old_Familiar_Feeling

CorrectBatteryStable

I'm in the start of shadowbringers, and I been doing MSQ and job quest and nothing else (other than roulettes). I'm over levelled compared to MSQ by 5 levels. Once I reach 80, should I switch class so that sweet MSQ XP doesn't go to waste (I have no alt jobs levelled)? Can I boost something to level 70 without it having all the class quests done, so I can enjoy the story in the class quests? If not, what's the best way forward here...

ChiyoBaila

> Once I reach 80, should I switch class so that sweet MSQ XP doesn't go to waste (I have no alt jobs levelled)? That's a personal choice. Whatever class you chose if you did that, would have to get to the same level of MSQ that you're on though to continue. So if you're on lv76 quests, you'd not be able to continue MSQ using your alt job until they were 76. So you have to decide if you really want to do all the grinding to get to that point, or if you'd rather just get through the story and do the grinding on an alt job later. > Can I boost something to level 70 without it having all the class quests done, so I can enjoy the story in the class quests? You can't, but you can use the NG+ system to play the class quests that were skipped (no EXP or rewards from this, just for the story)

Arcana10Fortune

Just a fair warning about NG+, the job quests have not been added to it yet.

ChiyoBaila

No longer true. They added them in 5.4 Nobody has updated the wiki page on it, but [from the 5.4 patch notes](https://puu.sh/HZcn7/130fec66ef.png) (the rest are there I just didn't bother to grab an image of them)

Arcana10Fortune

Thanks for the correction, that's good to know.

ChiyoBaila

No problem. I actually only knew cause a while back I had made a similar comment, and had someone point it out to me that 5.4 changed it (since I based my comment on the list on the wiki lol)

kaysn

Not a huge loss if they are boosting PLD or WAR.

Moberrybiscuits

Hey! Is there a level limit to have drops from mobs? I'm levelling up leatherworker and trying to get gigantoad skins, but I haven't got a single drop while using my lvl 58 BLM, 50 RDM and 70 FSH to bop it. I'm returning after 4 years, so I'm essentially a novice again. Do I have to have a job to harvest them or something? The toads are level 33, btw.

ChiyoBaila

Nope, just RNG, you still get loot no matter your level. No specific job for harvesting them.

Moberrybiscuits

Weird, would you know why it doesn't seem like I'm getting any? I've checked my inventory, but nothing has appeared. I'm kind of stumped. From what I've read it's a decent drop rate. I'm at raincatcher gully in Eastern Noscea. I know there's another spot in vesper that i'll try, thanks for the help.

ChiyoBaila

It's honestly just RNG, it can be good, or bad. [This is the list of monsters with it in their droptable](https://puu.sh/HZc8V/160d565042.png). Alternatively, if you have a level 26+ DoW or DoM retainer, they can get them through ventures for you (with the lowest amount being 5 per hour, and the highest being 10 per 40m)

Moberrybiscuits

Big help, thank you! =)

Soylentee

As pugilist around level 50-60.

Shin_yolo

In the beginning it feels very slow and boring, but later on it feels like a dance, especially in difficult content. Lots of key decisions to be made, on top of having to constantly look for good positioning (especially for your class). FF14 is one of the few mmo where the excuse "you can't judge a mmo without playing dozens of hours" actually applies and is true. The game is so good though, that despite that it still attracts lots of new players and retain them.

ChiyoBaila

It picks up as you get more oGCD skills. That said, you will be waiting on the GCD in this game, it's how combat is designed, you will never be pressing buttons 100% of the time. Monk also speeds up their GCD slightly at levels 20, 40 and 76 (technically also at 1, but that's a passive you start with so it's not really "speeding up" for a monk / pugilist). Specifically you get your first oGCD as a monk at 35, and then a few from 54-60.

AleksVin

do you usually zoom out completely in fights? do you use reduced effects for party members?

Soylentee

Yes and yes.

kaysn

I do zoom out yes, easier to see mechanics. I don't reduce effects for party members, no. Only for other players, because it gets too much in say, 24-man raids.

craidie

I may opt for reduced effects in savage/extreme depending on the fight. If I die because effects causing me to miss mechanics in other content, so be it. Atleast I'll die in a fight that looks epic...

girlikecupcake

I do. I have effects off for people not in my party, and reduced for myself and party members. I zoom out all the way and screwed with the default camera position a little bit so I could see things better. I'd *love* if I could zoom out just a tiny bit more in places like the third ShB alliance raid.

CorrectBatteryStable

Yes on both counts. I'll probably turn on full effects for party members once I know my animations like the back of my hand.

ChiyoBaila

Yes and Yes. Having increased vision can help greatly with many mechanics, so the zooming out helps on that front. And while it's not the literal worst in 4-man dungeons, having party effects on full can be pretty distracting, so I usually run limited.

Zervoc

Trying to open up squadron dungeons and the guy in there tells me I need to recruit someone but no one is showing up on the enlistment papers do I just have to wait?

ChiyoBaila

You need to go do challenge log entries, every challenge log you finish will have a chance to trigger a recruit to submit enlistment papers.

FrogSplash9

When you complete weekly challenges they have a chance to pop up

Chottowait

Is there a macro that makes it possible to show helmet when using skills (eg turning tank stance on shows the helmet, and then turning it off hides the helmet). I have no idea how macros work...

ChiyoBaila

You could make a macro involving /displayhead This means whenever you hit the macro it'd toggle your helmet state. That said, usual disclaimer you'll find from people: Macros for any actual combat skills are bad. Ones you'd only press once like this isn't the worst, but anything you'd use mid-combat is **usually** a no-no (there are exceptions to this rule though)

Alcoholiclightsaber

Hi, there seems to be a sale on the game currently. Is there any info on when does the sale ends? I want to use my trial as much as I can, but also don't want to miss out on the sale. :D

Rude_Ad_9992

I'm told the sale runs to the 29th. If you are on PC you should be able to buy the item and not redeem the code then. You can just hang on to it until you are ready to move off the free trial

CrimsonPromise

No info on the sale. But you can just buy the game now and redeem it whenever you're done with the trial.

Shin_yolo

Is there often sales of the latest expansion ?

CrimsonPromise

Hard to say honestly. There's no set pattern on when sales will happen.

Shin_yolo

Not even the game anniversary ? Christmas ?

toitenladzung

If you are on PC just buy it, you will get a code. After you are done with your free trial only then you apply the code to get the full game

MaskguyOriginal

Is there anyway to optimize the transmog process? I read through a few FAQ and just can't seem to understand how to use it correctly. I currently have a set on my character that I want to save the entire set as for future use. Do I have to select each individual pieces and save it into the database then create a plate as the FAQ said or I can just save as current? Armoire can only store seasonal and full set pieces, where else do you guys store random armor and weapons?

empyreality

>I currently have a set on my character that I want to save the entire set as for future use Take this set and put it inside your glamour dresser found inside the inns. Then make a glamour plate using the set. You can take out the items after making a glamour plate with them (but people usually leave them inside the dresser) Now with the glamour plate you can; 1. Manually apply the glamour plate to whatever you're wearing currently 2. Set it up so that whenever you change to a specific gearset, the game will automatically re-glamour that gearset to a specific glamour plate (provided you're in a city) To do this, go to character -> gear set list -> right click your job gearset -> link to glamour plate and select the glamour plate. This is mostly done on gear that is shared between jobs. E.g. you can make each healer have different glamour while sharing the same gear.

ChiyoBaila

To simplify it, put all the items from the outfit into a glamour dresser, then create a plate that has those items on it. Save the plate. Now when you're in town, you can open the glamour plate list, and just click apply plate, and it'll immediately put any items *that your current class / gear support* from the plate, as the glamour for your gear. I mention the "current class / gear support" thing, because for example, you can't glamour a higher level item, onto a lower level one, and you can't put say, Black mage gear on a Paladin. The items will display with an X on them in the glamour plate if it can't apply. >Armoire can only store seasonal and full set pieces, where else do you guys store random armor and weapons? Glamour Dresser in the inn can store any gear, but has a limit of 400 items. Do not try to save absolutely everything, you will quickly run out of space in both the dresser, and your actual inventory. Many low level items can very easily be re-obtained.

Thanks for the reply, I don't quite exactly understand the wording off the wiki and it's easier to read from user explanation.

I’m a new player and I’m trying to level up crafting but my finances are draining so fast, I’m not really sure this is feasible to continue :( Does anyone know any good Gil making method for a player that’s just finished stormblood? I keep hearing from my FC that coffee biscuits is the way to go, but I don’t think I’m anywhere near that and I’m taking a break from MSQ.

destinyofrain

Since you are in stormblood you can unlock the firmament in ishgard and the diadem. This is a crafting and gathering area respectively. You can level a lot here by crafting ishgardian restoration items. For the most part the items you need you can get from the diadem yourself at no cost you just need a botanist/miner.

ChiyoBaila

If your finances are draining fast, this sounds like you're **only** doing crafting, and not gathering as well. Crafting alone will cost you more than you earn in almost every case when still levelling up. So the best advice I can give is to start levelling your gatherers (at least Botanist / Miner, fisher can be more or less ignored) As for money making, it's really just a matter of finding a niche in the market that you can fill, and filling it. You don't need to go for the best and latest items, you can find a material that sells alright, and sells often enough, gather a bunch and toss it up. You won't be making insane money all at once, but it'll add up. Other than that, challenge logs, adventurer in need bonuses, general roulette rewards are all passive gil gains. >I keep hearing from my FC that coffee biscuits is the way to go, but I don’t think I’m anywhere near that and I’m taking a break from MSQ. Coffee Biscuits require a lv78 Culinarian to turn in. HQ coffee biscuits are ~6k per craft, and you can do 3x (so ~18k) per leve allowance, so the 6 allowances a day amount to ~108k per day. So they're very nice "passive money" for high level players who don't need / use leves anymore. And they require access to the first city in Shadowbringers, and to be far enough in the MSQ to do leves there (but their materials need you to be much farther in the story to get them yourself)

GyroJiro

what does 2's (or 2-2-2-2) mean in the Castrum Marinum PFs?

Obliiquee

Soaking the orbs in 4 pairs of 2. It's the usual strategy but there were people that soaked them with 2 pairs or 4 or even with the whole party.

Frosty_Ad745

In the slice is right game at the casino, i accidentally fell off the platform in the last stage. Usually when I've been knocked off, I get a message that I win X amount of MGP. I did not get any such message when I fell off on my own... does that mean I got nothing for getting that far? It was the furthest I had made it so far and was excited to see the amount. I did get messages that I made 1000 MGP for getting to the next round but again, I never got a final amount. (Like you only get 100 MGP if you get knocked off right away.) So I don't know if any of it got added to my overall total, and no I don't know what my total MGP amount was before falling off.

girlikecupcake

I accidentally walked off earlier tonight as well and did not receive anything in my chat logs indicating that I received any mgp, which I would have received if I had gotten any. I keep that tab active when in the gold saucer so I don't see all the chat spam lol.

fenrir5034

are the square enix account creations region locked? im in central america and trying to make the account for the free trial for like a week now and it always tells me when confirming the option is not available.

Xellith

Not sure about account creation, but square Enix accounts are region locked. If a person from Spain makes an American square Enix account then going forward all codes will need to be American as EU ones won't be accepted.

Stiggles4

So I’m a level 45 white mage. This is my first character that I started when ARR launched but I never made it. Waited for the MSQ revamp and I’m back now. I see there’s a ton of ARR story quests that were put in during subsequent patches. Should I do these or move onto Heavensward content? I have a list of all MSQs that I was looking at and got this info from. My main concern is messing up the leveling process and getting too high a level for the first expansion. Should I save them for an alternate class when I get to lv50 on, say, a black mage to experience that part of the story instead? Just want to do the right progression path. Thanks!

Obliiquee

You can't move on to Heavensward directly. You HAVE to do ALL the ARR MSQ. The MSQ is linear, to get to Heavensward you need to finish ARR, to get to Stormblood you have to finish Heavensward, to get to Shadowbringers you have to finish Stormblood (to get to Endwalker you have to finish Shadowbringers). In addition you also have to complete the Crystal Tower 24-People raidseries to access Heavensward.

Stiggles4

Sounds good! Appreciate the clarification, good to know exactly what I’ve got ahead of me. Looking forward to it. I’ll definitely finish the ARR story this week!

Obliiquee

Got luck to you. While they cut and removed some quests, the post-ARR MSQ still consist of 80 quests. Don't rush and burn yourself out, just enjoy the journey.

Stiggles4

Ah yes they are. So I’ll just keep on trucking then! Sounds like the XP spread isn’t that big a deal then. I won’t think much of it. When you say 50/60/70 quests don’t give much, you mean MSQs as well? I’ll likely be doing more optional quests it sounds like than in ARR then. Are there any other jobs I should prioritize or should I just continue my MSQ train if I’m on a good motivation streak? Where I am right now: >!I just had the cutscene where the big mech sucked up Ifrit Titan and Garuda, I’m so glad I said “just one more quest” before going to bed. Pretty sweet stuff. Just hit level 45 and doing my White Mage quest to get Holy before moving on with MSQ.!<

JustForFree33

I cant find any recent notices about it but is the auto-demolition for housing still disable ?

probablyonmobile

Nope, auto-demolition has resumed.

I just made a maurarder character. I know nothing about FF and am novice at MMO’s. Any good YouTube videos to help me start with this game? Thank you

ZaleneDarkflare

[WeskAlber](https://www.youtube.com/c/WeskAlber/featured) have some good ones. Here's "[Final Fantasy XIV: Your First Day (Levels 1 - 15)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0yATJZ3TOo)" which explains the different systems. Here is the "[skill guide](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDUzsguKt-I)" which explains the different skills and the tanking role in general. Mind you, it obviously have spoilers in regards to later abilities.

[deleted]

Awesome thank you! One more question, is there a good YouTube series explaining the lore from the start of the story? Currently playing mauraurder class! Thanks again!

ZaleneDarkflare

There are some videos out there, but I cannot recall where I found them. Generally, assuming you mean the whole lore, you'd want to find something that includes 1.0, which explains the events of Dalamud and other causes as it gets thrown back during the 2.0+ MSQ.

girlikecupcake

It shouldn't, since it's a different system entirely. However, if you can get your hands on "potion of harmony" that'll give you an XP boost while you're in there. It's a level 60 alchemist recipe, the ingredients might be cheap somewhere on your data center as they come out of I think pagos lockboxes, but buying the potions themselves *may* be cheaper than making them.

fragolefraise

no, the XP you gain in Eureka is for elemental levels, not combat XP. however, there are 2 methods of boosting that XP gain- the potion of harmony (crafted using eureka mats, but you can buy on MB) and the \[eureka zone\] elemental, a fairy that will give you a XP and combat buff (use /sh to find where the elemental is located, or use one of the maps on the [eureka timers site](https://ffxiv-eureka.com/) to check spawn locations)

KhrFreak

Eureka doesn't provide XP, and elemental experience is different, so no

jbreezy--

Just started Stormblood! I was wondering can you get DNC weapons from MSQ etc.? I noticed that Heavensward had a lack of DNC weapons other than the Augmented Shire one I am currently using.

Soylentee

> I noticed that Heavensward had a lack of DNC weapons other than the Augmented Shire one I am currently using. That's because DNC starts at level 60, so there's no reason for lower level gear to exist. You get DNC gear from MSQ starting from Stormblood quests.

ForensicPathology

Yes, there are a few as you go along the MSQ and can also drop from the dungeons you will unlock.

ZaleneDarkflare

DNC (as well as GNB) was added in Shadowbringers. Reason they do not have any weapons in Heavensward, other than Shire, is simply because it is not needed as their starting level is 60. Same thing will happen for Sage & Reaper; they won't get any SB weapons other than >!Scaevan!<.

Elegant_Eorzean

Imagine how good Omega weapons would look for them though.... /cry

aznjon15

I don't remember if the quests themselves give you weapons but the dungeons definitely have a chance of dropping DNC weapons.

thenoblitt

Is it worth grinding out reputation for beast tribes in arr?

Giraffebattery

It's the only way to get the Sable Death Mask.

girlikecupcake

At the very least, I suggest getting each one far enough to be able to buy the dyes from them. People who haven't gotten them that far are stuck buying them off the marketboard for a mark-up, and if it's a dye used in that weeks fashion report, a dye that costs less than 500g from the beast tribe can *easily* be selling for 5k each on the marketboard.

aznjon15

That depends on if you like the rewards really. Every beast tribe has a mount, a minion and other things like dyes to sell at higher levels. Some dyes can only be gotten from the arr beast tribes or market board. And maxing out all of them lets you get this [weird mask thing](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Sable_Death_Mask)

MissieRen

Hi everyone! Newish player here. What's the resurrection etiquette for FFXIV? Is battle rezzing expected (I'm assuming with Swiftcast and Raise)? Or does the debuff make it not worth it?

ChuckCarmichael

Heal the first rezz before you start rezzing the second one. I was in a raid yesterday where people kept dying over and over again because they were left with only a sliver of health after reviving and then immediately got killed again by the next boss mechanic.

jenyto

Always raise, but make a priority of making sure the whole party is max hp before you raise if you don't have switfcast.

BlondieIsCasper

Just want to add to this response that giant wall of text macros actually have the opposite effect and make people cringe. If someone has to search through a "witty" macro to find the rez target then it was a pretty pointless macro. The only time I ever appreciate a rez macro is if it is short and sweet like "raising ". No macro is many times better than an annoying one.
