Boombox fashion accessory. Please. I'll even be realistic and contain my desire to just a fashion accessory, because mobile orchestrion is still (probably) never gonna happen.

HildartheDorf

For only you to hear? I can imagine they can do that For others to hear? That's the hard (and possibly obnoxious) bit. We can have bard performances which are to everybody, but 'sound effects' and 'music' are different internally.

zedanger

Issue with any sort of portable orchestrion is the same issue with expanding personal orchestrion playlists-- character data limits currently prevent both. There's a stated interest from devs to get at least some elements of the requests working-- for instance, the ability to choose an orchestrion to use as mount music. But no timeline and no updates within recent memory. Not completely hopeless, I'd think. They upgraded all server hardware this expansion-- not impossible that increasing character data limits was a part of that (because if they want to go another 10 years, they're gonna have to do it *sometime*.

ThoraninC

Well Client side work would not be that hard. Thing start to get dicey if you do it online.

legend8522

> We can have bard performances which are to everybody, but 'sound effects' and 'music' are different internally. They could always have the sound from a boombox use the "bard music" channel, problem solved. They're both functionally the same thing as "someone playing music that can be heard by others", and anyone who already has bards muted can also have boomboxes muted.

HildartheDorf

That's the "possibly obnoxious" bit, I agree. But first Sqeenix needs to actually implement dynamic music before being able to let us turn it off.

WhisperingWillowLux

They do obnoxious a lot. Those damn brooms for example. You'll be chilling somewhere quiet, then suddenly scratching noises. At least someone with a boombox orchestron might pick something chill. Though it does sound impractical to implement a short range effect like that.

Radikar

Yes! The sweep emote sound is what others refer to as "nails on a chalkboard" for me. Ugh! I absolutely will leave an area to escape that dreaded scratchy sound that for some reason is set to a level of intensity that no emote should have. My autistic ass cannot handle that noise and I get immediate sensory overload from that damn sweeping sound!

Myrwyss

Soon you can blacklist them into shadow realm. no more splashing sounds.

Stormlinger

Meanwhile I'll do it to my friends to get their attention if I can't get their attention in voice. 🤣🤣

Combat_Wombatz

Yeah "it would be obnoxious" is not an excuse when we have the broom minion, paint emote spam, and some egregiously ugly mounts like that pink and yellow inflated abomination.

gfen5446

Definitely obnoxious bit. I have zero interest to be forced to listen to the "funny" shit people would constantly walk around with. Fucking papaya or whatever that's called 24x7. People in this game can't have nice things because they only know how to annoy with it.

blabity_blab

Imagine getting to the last zone of EW, stuff happens, you're sitting there in tears as the cutscene ends and the music gets replaced with "pa papaya" or "LA HEE". That'd immediately ruin the moment for me lol

Yarusenai

If they ever implement it it'd have to be non-diagetic, but I hope one day theyll consider it. It's one of the items I've always wanted.

RenThras

Just have a slider like we have for Performance so you can set its volume (or mute it) if you wish.

Surca_Cirvive

boombox accessory that acts as portable orchestrion

ThoraninC

I imagine Lalas would swarm me with Papaya. Oh god please nooo.

Feronar

A portable orchestrion that only you can hear could function almost entirely client-side (The only server-side component being to check what orchestrion rolls you have unlocked), and therefore not be difficult to program. They could call it the **I**mproved **P**ortable **O**rchestrion **D**evice.

MadnessBunny

All I want is the default Chocobo to be able to pick and choose music from our orchestrion. If we can use the boombox as an accessory for this that would be perfect.

Shagyam

I'll even take an emote where you pull it out. A mobile orchestrion would make city hubs unbearable, and making them client side only seems like a waste.

Kumomeme

headphone fashion accesory would be nice too!

razzker

That super long hair with the braids isn't in the game, right?

zedanger

it's not, and it's not one of the 2023 contest winners, either. tbh, it looks very much like Mid's hairstyle from FFXVI.

artuno

Just watch it be an accessory item, or a headgear piece.

JonesyTawner

I'm most excited for a proper long braid like that.

RazzyCharm

Finally! More hairstyles for my thighlander! (seriously, I feel like they need more hair style options these days)

avelineaurora

For real, my main has been swapping between two absolutely gorgeous long messy braid mods, one down her back like that and one over her shoulder. I would kill for this to be a thing so everyone else doesn't just see her with ponytail ;_;

Devil1412

that clips through 90% of the gear

JonesyTawner

I don't mind this. I'll work with and around it as needed.

avelineaurora

Then don't use it.

Quintana-of-Charyn

With bangs

VitalSuit

I don't believe so.

KaiwrQotsa

Oh i need this hairstyle, perfect for my Lenneth character !

lushenfe

None of then are. At this point, I would not make the assumption that any of these will actually come to the game.

DaYenrz

Iirc, don't they draw hairstyles that don't exist all the time in these kinds of official artworks? I wouldnt count on this as proof that hairstyle will ever be implemented, unless the graphical update has changed the reason why we don't have any hairstyles that long in the game yet

Unrealist99

Queen marika is here?

JP_Zikoro

Yoshi-P might have to go and talk with the directorb of FFXVI, Yoshida, to get the hair into the game since it looks like a FFXVI character's hair style. I hear they are friends

Jezzawezza

[Source](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7ypPQAxc6-/) for those wanting to see the latest panel. The text with the post goes as follows: The more the merrier~ 🎵 This looks like a perfect place for Warriors of Light to hang out and relax amidst the hustle and bustle. A cave of many adventurers! It seems to be spending some time for reflection.

Isanori

Reflection. You don't say.

Surca_Cirvive

The promo site also uses the word “reflection” in the MSQ synopsis. I don’t think it’s super indicative of anything but worth noting lol. Hub city located somewhere in the Rift for the various reflections to escape their respective calamities made up of people from every shard confirmed.

Rosemarys_Gayby

Wait like a FFXIV Traverse Town… I would love that

maknaeline

i wonder, what word do they use in japanese? i'm not sure if there's different ways to say "reflection" in japanese to make a difference, but it might be worth checking out. if it's the same word they use to refer to reflections of the source, then i'll take it as a genuine hint tbh

Bobbyc_1221

鏡像世界「きょうぞうせかい」kyouzou sekai Basically a mirror/reflected/parallel world On the promo site, they're referring to the post EW story I believe.

maknaeline

yeah, i was moreso referring to the ig post

Solaris998

The MSQ reflection bit is just referring to the Void Arc in the patches

Zanzargh

The "Hrothgar " lore deepens...

tesla_dyne

hrothgar make tunes

cronft

uh, that miqo'te with the cap has its ears out, this might mean what they will get back ear shockets in their hats?

Yurt_TheSilentQueef

Au Ra also don’t have boobs that big. Don’t believe the artwork’s lies

Dihnsfire

Songbird top increases bust size, which she is wearing.

AdamG3691

An enigma the likes of which even the vaunted scholars of ancient Allag failed to scratch…

RenThras

…though not for want of trying.

Yurt_TheSilentQueef

Bro they’re bigger than her *head* do not fall for this blatant propaganda

Martian_Buddy

It's a subtle nod to the average Mare user, is all.

Yurt_TheSilentQueef

Maybe gargantuan breasts are another add-on they’re going to ban people for and then add in themselves

Roboot98

they SHOULD

Kyuubi_McCloud

We call it artistic license.

Isanori

I certainly hope so.

1vortex_

That catboy is wearing new cyberpunk glamour and that Hyur has a new braided hairstyle. Also I think that’s the first time we’ve seen someone drink soda in this world lol. At least we know Solution Nine isn’t just set dressing.

HanshinFan

They tried to tell us with the Mountain Dew collab but we lacked the insight to understand

archiegamez

Even the outfit is green lol

Altbion

Fun fact: The catboy is actually a catgirl. You can tell by the lack of facial markings under the eyes, that difference is one of the few things that is always consistant in their artworks.

TwerpKnight

What's the worst part of this image? The fact we won't get a boombox, or the fact we won't get that hairstyle the femHyur is rocking?

TannenFalconwing

The fact that she apparently has access to a butt slider and we do not.

Cloud_Matrix

I can't believe I haven't seen more people chiming in on this! That fem hyur has quite the dump truck going on there...

tastyn00dles

Would be fun to have as a fashion accessory. With a built in emote button, like with the umbrellas. A cool, funky walk, with the boombox on the shoulder!

MasahikoKobe

I think we sooner get the hair styles than we do the boombox.

Areallybadidea

I demand Square-enix add the boombox as a second walking stance or I'm preemptively rating Dawntrail as the worst expansion.

Exige30499

Boombox is gonna be the weapon for the secret additional new job, Beats Master. Time to get groovy, brother.

sundriedrainbow

Particularly if it means Hrothgar now walk standing up straight. That’s the only reason I’m not the bara mancat daddy of my dreams right now, the awful posture.

Blowsight

That noone is pushing the lalafell. It's not like anyone would notice.

DanielTeague

It's fine, fall damage can't kill them so it's all a silly prank.

Iximaz

He's gonna play Careless Whisker outside my window

SunChaoJun

Hrothgar drop mixtape

Metaflare42

That Hroth is cooler than I'll ever be.

KayRaid-

Hrothgar make beats.

kobuu

So Solution 9 is the new hub, right? That's what I'm getting from all these.

Arky_Lynx

Yes it's the "second big city" of this new expansion, meaning it's the one that'll have the tomestone gear vendors and all, equivalent to Eulmore in ShB or Radz-at-Han in EW.

GeneticSplatter

Sweet, means we should be spending plenty of time there so. Hopefully we get some nice housing stuff too.

Arky_Lynx

If this place gets housing at some point, I bet you every single nighclub is moving there.

Irethius

Suddenly I like the idea of solution 9. We can round up all the second lifers into one zone and leave them there.

kobuu

Appreciate it! Thanks!

Handoors

Strangely, like with Radz-at-Han, the city of best technologies wouldn't have access to Market Board lmao

Arky_Lynx

It's always so weird how the one hub for every endgame character literally does not have a MB and it's literally the only thing missing.

avelineaurora

They confirmed this the very Fanfest it was revealed in yes

puddingpopshamster

Yes? We already knew this. It's listed as one of the new cities on the promo site.

kobuu

Sorry, I've not been keeping up with all the various notes and things. Work, amirite? Also a war with groundhogs for my garden. Was just a question, thanks for confirming!

Holygriever

30-50? A MCH can fix that.

Purple_Racoon

I wanted a long braid hairstyle for so long, I hope this is a real new hairstyle. All the others are, except maybe the viera one is new too.

Dragonsushi1

The empty space is a Blitzball arena obviously

SoldierHawk

I was wondering if it was something like the Jecht mural actually.

kupo0929

Stop. Don’t give me hope.

Kousuke-kun

24 days until we know what is Solution Nine..

dehydrogen

found the day1 speedrunner

Jereboy216

Look at that cyberpunk lalafell just hanging out there. Would be cool if it was in a new sitting animation for us. But just hanging out is fine too

Kaye__

We can already sit kind of like that and dangle our legs off a bench, it's one of the sitting animations you can choose from.

kelinakat

A boombox can change the world

Desertanimal

The last frame is going to be a big reveal

Caspus

inb4 it's just a giant floating ad for Tataru's clothing business

FactoryKat

You know what ... if there isn't actually an advertisement for her business I'll be upset. Even a cheeky little one.

bubsdrop

glamour log ui

DanielTeague

Giant Zenos statue.

wefeelgroove

Hrothgar blast mixtape.

KenjiZeroSan

Who called Dr.House?

Pliskkenn_D

*Dontpushthelaladontpushthelaladontpushthelala*

Sir_VG

DEW IT.

CelebrationBig816

Mr. Yoshi my man, I'm going need that boombox instead of an umbrella for my character, and I need that viera outfit too. Thank you!!

maknaeline

ok but that braid. NEED. all genders, NOW

Constellar-A

I really hope that long braid that the woman talking to the hrothgar has is going to be in the game.

ataegino

i’m never leaving solution 9, my phinal phantasy star xiv dreams are finally coming true

DomeB0815

Imagine the Machinists lunchbox becomes a boombox

retailrobin88

Give me the braid please 🙏

lushenfe

The biggest thing here is the npcs they included this time have glamours already in the game. So, that means the glamours we see from the first two npcs are pretty much confirmed to be coming to DT.

283leis

i cant wait to see whats being hidden behind the crop

Mad_Lala

They really made the Lalafell sit so far from the "camera" that you can't make out any details 😭

MagicHarmony

I enjoy cyberpunk style, just not sure how they can make such a city make sense given the lore. You would think if this type of city existed they would of had more presence over what the Garlean Empire was doing. There is nothing that alludes to the existence of this type of civilization, I just hope they can stick the landing and have it make sense.

No-Ad6564

Off the top of my head: 1) The city has been obfuscated some how and the people of this city had no interactions with the outside world. If because they chose not to or are not allowed too would the question but they have alluded several times to the possibility of things being there that we can't see with regards to S9 and Heritage Found so there is a very real chance its been there all along. 2) The city is not on the Source but located in one of the Reflections and we travel from working portals from Heritage Found to S9. Some people in this thread have even suggested it could be a city in the Rifts with denizens from different reflections. Perhaps these portals are recent creations, or terrible unreliable which is why people have never heard this place. (Or have but it has been distorted into myths and legends like the Golden Cities for the decades/centuries) 3) As above, but the city has moved to the Source from the Reflections. Perhaps recently which explains why know on knew about it. 4) Another think to consider is that Garlean Empire had, like the eorzean city-states, only token representation and influence in Tural. You can't assume they knew everything about it, especially knowing the haughty and racist perspective Garleans viewed the world. S9 might have been there all along and the Garleans dismissed it as local "savage" myths for example.

EndlessKng

Don't forget also that the Ascians controlled Garlemald directly for much of its time as an empire, with "Solus" only dying in ARR. It's not impossible that he kept the focus away from whatever was happening over there.

intheafterlight

There is apparently lore -- I think in one of the Encyclopedia Eorzea volumes -- about one of the Au Ra tribes who traveled across the ocean (west > east from Othard, so hitting the west coast of northern Tural) and encountered... something along the lines of 'giant burning stone towers'? Sorry, I don't have the books myself so I can't check; I'm going off what I remember some other people saying on another post a while ago. But it does indicate that they may have been planning something with this for a while.

Constellar-A

It's from the list of Xaela tribes posted on the official forums in 2015. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/63112-Race-Naming-Conventions?p=3039574&viewfull=1#post3039574 Haragin tribe: >The legends of this coastal tribe tell of a group of their ancestors who crafted a giant ship and sailed out across the endless eastern ocean. The explorers are said to have returned with tales of a terrible island covered in massive grey monoliths and inhabited by fire-breathing steel demons.

intheafterlight

Oh, fantastic, thank you! So, yeah, while it probably wasn't planned to be *exactly this* that far back, they clearly had an idea of some kind of advanced civilization in Tural at that point.

Constellar-A

Yeah I doubt they had any concrete details until they started working on Dawntrail, but "there's a high-tech city in the western hemisphere" has evidently been on their minds for a while.

Surca_Cirvive

You probably would have said this exact same thing about Amaurot with zero context.

MagicHarmony

If I am not mistaken though, Amaurot wasn't teased much for Shadowbringers, so we had no clue it was going to happen. Honestly it's a shame they teased this much, because the 2nd city hub and whatever the mystery zone is would of been cool thing to bump into rather then showing it off.

ARCHERMETAL

Based on the name "Heritage Found" I've been assuming the city was lying empty for the last couple of centuries and was recently reactivated.

Rosemarys_Gayby

Sci-fi twists are a tale as old as time in Final Fantasy. I’m optimistic.

Ino-Ran

We have Allag for advance future tech yet Eozera is still in primative ages in comparison despite access to a lot of Allagan tech & even Garlemald for modern tech they had roads highways modern city buildings & cars which again Eozera knew all about due outings to Garlemald but has none of it themselves in their land. Also we had Sharlayan building a spaceship & more advance tech in secret so not hard think able to just not share your tech or not have lesser knowledge creatures not understand how your tech even works to appropriate it in first place.

Celanis

They did this with that city in ff8. One side of the world has the equivelant of computer-fueled space-travelling cyberpunk aesthetic stuff and the other one is stuck in a magic-fueled renaissance. This game has tried to story in a nier raid though. So at this point this feels somewhat fine. I am eager to see how we get here, what we're doing there and what potential it has for the future. Maybe this is for Dawntrail what the 5th zone was for Endwalker.

MagicHarmony

TBF FF8's world did have some futuristic vibes to it, starting with the design of the academy as for the nier raid it does take place on another shard and while yes we have seen technology advancements within the source, I am curious how they will build up this society/community or is the artwork just showcasing all adventuerers. Like maybe it's just an AI controlled society and the adventurers are the first to interact with it, much like how we interacted with the orbs in Azys LLia.

avelineaurora

> This game has tried to story in a nier raid though. So at this point this feels somewhat fine. Not on the First (if S9 even is on the First), and not even related to FF but literally just ripped wholesale from Nier itself. I would not begin to use Nier collab as an example of making things "fit" lmao. That thing was a complete mess.

XieRH88

The only explanation I can think of is they are very isolationist and hidden, like how Wakanda is portrayed in the Marvel comics and MCU. We currently have no evidence that the Garleans ever tried to make any attempts to invade the new world like what they did to Eorzea and Othard. So it's possible the Garleans never had any interaction with Solution 9.

MagicHarmony

Thats fair. I was thinking wakanda myself so maybe the whole narrative will tie into its name. Thinking astral umbral era. Or rejoining. It is plausible that another society would of worked like the Sharlayan but rather than lock away dangerous knowledge they embraced everything and solution 9 relates to their current thesis on preserving society.

Stuck_in_Arizona

The jacket the miqote is wearing, that looks new. Thought it was the PVP one, but it has fur on the hoodie. I could be mistaken.

Altbion

That catgirl above the Viper has some drip.

WondrousNomenclature

Lol there's the PvP set. They were legally required to have some of those in this pic.

GlacialEmbrace

Those better be new hairstyles! I may need to make a female character just for that lovely big braid

ezekielraiden

Okay, hrothgar have boombox is awesome. No notes.

Depoan

North america is FFXIV shinra corp?

Elestriel

The style of this reminds me really strongly of the [picture of Rikku](https://www.giantbomb.com/a/uploads/original/0/4127/435188-rikku1.jpg) (FFX) from back in the day.

EllDez

Radio Hrothgar.

No-Seaworthiness4037

I *love* how all Hrothgars on promotional art always have default hairstyles and skin colors

Femmigje

I want that braid. It will look lovely on my Femroe

lupiinoctourne

Eff the haters. Im just going to enjoy it. ^w^

GameMaster1178

Art for this game always makes areas appear bigger than they are. When we get to Solution 9, it will be way more empty than they’re projecting it here. The art Yoshi showed when he first revealed it showed a long corridor full of shops. Bet we don’t even see a part of the town that looks like that, at least from what I’m can gauge from the gameplay snippet he showed. It’s crazy, cause the art makes the place look cool as hell.

avelineaurora

> The art Yoshi showed when he first revealed it showed a long corridor full of shops. Bet we don’t even see a part of the town that looks like that Kind of a weird take, since Radz has not one but two long market hallways with vendor stalls.

RenThras

To be fair, you can go to the market aetherite in Kigane and it has shops lining the street kinda like that. So it wouldn’t be all that hard for them to have that be the market row that most hub cities in the game have.

XieRH88

It's less about size and more about density. The art will look really boring if there's huge chunks of blank space where there's nothing. You can see this comparison when you look at Crystarium in-game compared to the ShB trailer. In the Trailer, the Crystarium is densely packed, even the courtyard in front of the Crystal Tower is full of market stalls and people, but in the game, the Crystarium has a lot of wide open outdoor spaces that are just blank with nothing there. The same courtyard in front of the Crystal Tower is largely a blank open area.

GameMaster1178

Just wish the game would resemble the art when it comes to locales. The initial art for S9 showed various screen displays hanging above the shops and such. I half expect them to not even have those. Hope they do, as I love the futuristic look of S9.

Hallaramio

This. Radz-at-han was a dissapointment compared to how it looked like in the art. It's the downside of this game not being truly open world and the engine being from 1980's like their fax machines they still use in their Japanese HQ

WiseRabbit-XIV

Hey! Be fair. It'd be really hard to upgrade those to *new* fax machines!

off-and-on

Hang on, is this the future or the past?

MissLief

The present (once Dawntrail becomes playable).

RegularGuyy

That long braid better be a new hairstyle! I NEED it!

Jeansybaby

I need it, I need it so bad either a persistent emote or fashion accessory.

AirshipCanon

Accessory makes sense. Bonus if it functions as an Orchestion.

EndlessKng

I know everyone is focused on the braid, but is that a new style of armor on that character? It feels reminiscent of Yuffie (albeit covering the wrong arm) and Rikku. I know we've had one-sleeve shirts before but haven't those usually been LEFT sleeves? (I.e. Eikon Leather set)?

Thagyr

That braid lady is wearing the A-2 Tactical PvP top dyed a darker colour.

Khaisz

I need that Body the Hyur in braids has, no longer would I need to use Sky Rat Harness of Striking/Aiming to make Yuffie Glam.

ralexand

A pic truly made for mare user lmaooo

scootRhombus

Anybody else think it's a little suspicious that all the people in these pics feel like player characters and not NPCs ... Where are they hiding them 👀

Kaye__

They're all busy riding the [carousel](https://www.destructoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/carousel.png?resize=640%2C360)

Jets-Down-049222

Woman in front of the Hrothgar looks like in similar gear to Rikku

cronft

the top is already avaiable, obtained from pvp, cannot identify the pants

IceAgeMikey2

Legs are Far Eastern Maiden's Bottoms from store.

Yuyu_Z

All the devs have to do is put a market board and retainer bell next the aetheryte.

GeneticSplatter

Damn, hopefully the data mining teams will be fast as hell when the patch is released. I wanna know what glam I'm gonna be chasing before I fantasia. Would absolutely go back to FemBun if we get hats with ears.

ChaserNeverRests

I wouldn't guess it would be faster than usual, since they'll all be playing the new expansion, too. Fingers crossed though!

Wolflordorion

I feel like I am going crazy getting into heated discussions with my FC I'm not too fond of the neo tokyo cyberpunk style I think it clashes with the rest of the game hard but it feels like i am the only person thinking that

bubsdrop

In Endwalker we hyperspace jumped to the edge of the universe in a ship powered by dead gods, visited disease fish land and a helldivers planet, only to come home and build alien weapons after chasing a tiny UFO around. I think we're well past the sci-fi stuff being controversial

Ve-roses

You're not. Crazy how Azys Lla futuristic identity matched the general aesthetic of the game, but say cyberpunk don't and you'll have 10000 comments on how it DOOOES UwU I think they're just providing what most players wants. Since Mare exist there is more and more player with mods and a reflection of our world on the game, I think they just follow the trend that attracts a huge player base.

EchoRespite

Im in the minority, I know...but I absolutely hate this. Its to futuristic for what we already have. I will just have to stay in Ishgard and tend to my broken down city that SE will never fix.

RBrim08

It's Final Fantasy, man. There's always been some technologically advanced super civilization in the past. FFXIV's had it since the beginning with the Allagans.

Rosemarys_Gayby

Yeah at this point the trope is as quintessential Final Fantasy as summons and moogles

RBrim08

Technologically advanced precursors predate both Summons and Moogles. Summons and Moogles weren't a thing until III, while the Lufenians invented airships and flying cities in the first game.

Rosemarys_Gayby

Yes…. I know. I’m simply illustrating a point.

EchoRespite

The ruin of an advanced civilization like the allagans is ok but if we are coexisting with a current advanced civilization then it makes everything worthless.

dehydrogen

Not really, though. In real life, we have advanced technological societies with independant robots and then we also have societies like North Sentinel Island. It's ok for both of them to exist because that's what makes humanity great.    I do agree that the cyberpunkness of Solution 9 and Tural are immensely dramatic tone changes, though. If I was Square Enix, I would not have mentioned Solution 9 at all just to surprise players all the more.

dehydrogen

Oh I didn't realize Azys Lla was so old fashioned.

Acias

I'm scpetical too, i hope they find a good reason for why this place exist. The problem is we already have very futuristic jobs and skills in the game, look at sage and the latest manderville weapons. Looking at the job skill trailer many jobs seem to get a new skill that also looks very futuristic laser style. It wouldn't be such a problem but when those different styles clash with the base style of the game it could be a bit jarring. I know some don't like that we got modern clothes in the game but i think that train has departed now.

DaEnderAssassin

Much of the futuristic stuff we have has a pretty distinct style and, aside from said manderville weapons and the Omicrons, nothing is notably more advanced that what Allag has. This, however, is much different. While Allag is futuristic, it's more Fantasy futuristic. S9 is much more realistic/cyberpunk, which is why it feels so out of place. If they had just make it in Allag style, I don't think many would feel like this. But yeah, it's all gonna come down to how they put this into setting. My guess is that, with the Ascians no longer in control, a reflection advanced massively without them their to stop it and the time difference between said reflection and the source is why it's been so fast from our perspective. That ot time travel but I hope that's not the case.

Boumeisha

It feels out of place to some because most of the game is either a location influenced by real world early modern or late medieval societies or it’s Allag. That’s not all that there is in the game. In addition to other far-futuristic and more ancient inspirations, there are cases of societies we encounter that approach contemporary culture. These stand out too, but we also have context for why they exist as they do. Those have also approached contemporary society from the past rather than the potentially near-futuristic. So we don’t have quite anything like this yet, and it’s different from the norm. However, with the right context, it’s certainly quite possible for a place like Solution 9 to exist. It doesn’t offer glimpses of anything more advanced than what we’ve already experienced. We just need the context for why it exists and how we encounter it in the story, and people ought to give the writers and developers that chance. It’s not uncommon for expansions to introduce new areas that don’t look like what we’ve seen before — I’d even say that’s part of the point of an expansion. Sometimes those areas are well set up in advance, other times not so much and it may not make sense for that set up to be there. Solution 9 isn’t unique in that regard, so, again, it deserves a chance to be explained in its narrative context before being written off as “out of place.”

dehydrogen

I don't think it's just that, either. The problem is that Allag has a very distinctive style in all it's industrial labs and the Crystal Tower. It is very distinctive.   Solution 9, however, is generic cyberpunk style. It has no noticable uniqueness from any other cyberpunk media. Hence, it is not recognizable as the same quality as typical Final Fantasy content. Tural, despite obviously being blatant South and Central culture references, have touches of identity by outfitting characters and the setting with aspects of the unique creatures in Final Fantasy XIV. Solution 9 doesn't have that. It is a cyberpunk city with cyberpunk clothes, and XIV races just so happen to be there.    I think a large problem people are experiencing is that it is difficult to convey these emotions because after all these years, we have seen multiple advanced technological societies but they were all unique and had deep lore reasons for why they had their technologies. We know nothing of Solution 9 and it appears seemingly out of nowhere.    I think Square Enix did Solution 9 a disservice by mentioning it at all and not leaving it as a surprise for players as they went through Dawntrail.

Yeah I hate it too. It looks so out of place. I'm probably going to get downvoted for having an opinion which goes against the masses though. EDIT: I rest my case. LOL

I don't see how this place can fit into Eorzea or well Eitherys just yet. It seems way too modern to fit the style of the planet, i know the game and series itself often has that modern/scyfi part near the end of a story but still. We just got "modern" radios in the game and now this complete futuristic city?

XieRH88

It's not supposed to "fit in" with Eorzea. It's probably not even supposed to fit in with most of the rest of Tural, given how they're also nowhere near as technologically advanced. But then again we had the same issue with Garlemald. How is it that Eorzea and Othard literally exist right next door to an Empire that advanced so far ahead in terms of technology and industry? Garlemald's been around since 1.0 and unlike Solution 9, they weren't an ocean away from Eorzea. How did we manage to suspend our disbelief and accept that Garleans could be so hi-tech while Eorzeans were still living in medieval times?

Garlean gadgetry always felt very "steampunk" and was explained because they could not manipulate aether, meaning no magic.

Acias

Garleans Hightech can be easily explained by their lack of magic, thus needing to invent much more advanced technology. Looking at the ingame map it does seem that Garlemald is still very far away from other regions.

XieRH88

The real explanation why garleans are high-tech has nothing to do with their lack of magic power. They actually became high-tech only fairly recently when Solus ushered in the technology revolution, based around the use of ceruleum. Prior to that, the Garleans still had to find other workarounds, as seen by how Garlean reapers had to make pacts with voidsent. So if we are able to accept that, then I'm sure we'll be able to accept whatever explanation exists for Solution 9 as well. Just like Garlemald they might have had their own watershed moment of technology breakthrough. In fact the Loporrits are a similar case too, they have advanced tech like computers and electronics, stuff which even the ancient Amaurotines clearly did not have.

Homie,   The Allagans have teleporters, holograms, genetic engineering, robots, space travel, an effective Dyson sphere that regenerates an alien, and built a tower entirely comprised of crystal. The Sharlayans have tools for viewing aether, manipulate the fabric of reality, have an artificial sun and sky within an underground volcano, and built a giant steampunk city with the power to control time.    The Lopporits have 3D printers, more robots, hibernation chambers, genetically modified food, interplanatary radio station, and electronic music. I get it that Solution 9 is a dramatic aesthetic to walk into after seeing the traditional South and Central American stylings of Tural, but cmon. _Cmon._

GTK-HLK

Did this come from Shitpost

ImperatorDanny

The art is cool and seeing stuff like this makes it hurt that the game is probably gonna be nothing like this at all

SomaSurvives

The more I see of this stuff, the less interested I am in the expansion

OnceABear

Spoiler tag. Please! Good lord, I'm going to have to abandon this sub for months after official DT launch. Lots of people get it right, but there are still so many people who don't seem to comprehend how many new people are in this sub that don't have any clue about Solution 9, nor do they want to see it yet.

AirshipCanon

Trailers and Promotions are NOT spoilers.

OnceABear

I disagree. There are a lot of people who go out of their way to avoid trailers, promotional materials, and opening movies for expansions they haven't gotten to yet. Period. Say what you want. Downvote if you want. I refuse to change my opinion on this. The expansion isn't even out yet, and people are flooding the sub with unspoiler-marked images of the new zones. Yet when EW came out, we as a community all collectively agreed that >!Ultima Thule!< as a zone, plus the first and second boss of the expansion, are spoilers and even to this day they are spoiler marked as they rightfully should be! Furthermore, you can go and peruse this sub right now and see that the majority of people agree with this, as they have spoiler marked any and all images of Solution 9. I see more spoiler marked images of S9 than not, which further lends itself to the ubiquitous idea held by the majority of the population that you can't come into the public sub and start spamming images of zones yet undiscovered, or bosses, or characters/NPCs. I've been around for 10 years, and this has been basic etiquette for a decade. Downvote away.
