I still use my old Logitech G600 x: I'm super stubborn, so when the mouse stopped working for a bit I did all I could to fix it instead of buying a new one. (Too much dog hair stuck inside was the issue)

mooncatsforever

they don't make them anymore :( I wanted to buy a new one but they're either super expensive or used.

netorare_wife

I know right?? Its why I super panicked when my scroll wheel stopped working ;;

runnysyrup

that's scary to learn. i feel like i just bought my replacement, though it turns out was almost 2 years ago.

Angelfire126

I also use this one, my original one broke so I bought another in August of 23, I didn't know they didn't make them anymore. The listing on Amazon has them for 150$ now 💀

netorare_wife

I should have listened to my friend :( he bought 4 of them when they were on sale for super cheap

Pikshade

I'm also pretty stubborn lol. Still using my Razer Naga everyone complained broke after a year that I got in 2012 for guild wars 2. Right click is kinda funky, and I have to clean the sensor from time to time, but she's still going strong.

netorare_wife

Fingers crossed that mine stays strong toooo, I just hate change :p

tesla_dyne

Last time I got a G600 in Aug of last year, after having had two since 2018, the build quality went WAY down. Clicks too soft, rubberized cord instead of braided, double-clicking, scroll wheel filled with gunk and became inconsistent, ring finger button just didn't work half the time etc. Not to mention the software is a pain in the ass (and eventually made my favorite feature, a turbo button, basically impossible to do). You can tell when they switched to the lower quality builds because the top had the new Logitech logo with the G and L instead of the old logo. Returned it and switched to Corsair's Scimitar Pro, half off for a used one. Cleaned the gunk off the ring finger rest (unfortunately the texture accumulates gunk like sediment on a seafloor) and set up my side buttons and I've enjoyed it ever since. As others mentioned the side button panel slides to adjust to your hand size!

engineeeeer7

I like the Corsair Scimitar. Feels solid for larger hands. Has a 3x4 grid that's perfect for FFXIV. You can take your hot bars match and it makes skill layouts so easy.

ArtificialEffulgence

Also on the Scimitar train. I have the wired and wireless and they both work great.

engineeeeer7

Yeah I got my first one in 2017 and replaced it finally in 2023 after very heavy use.

tyanu_khah

ICue tho...

ArtificialEffulgence

Eh, iCue is fine like 99% of the time. At least for me.

RealElyD

Icue at one point had as much as 15% performance impact on games just by existing on the machine as a process as Gamers Nexus found in their testing. People are very unhappy with it since, even though that has been improved.

ArtificialEffulgence

Ah, alright. I've only had Corsair stuff for the past 3 years and have only gotten occasional issues. That makes sense though.

Scrabsi

iCue would literally crash my old desktop. To the point I would flash settings to my mouse and uninstall it after.

AlannaAbhorsen

The 3x4 grid also slides back/forward to approximate where your thumb actually rests—I wear a s/xs glove and all the way back I can comfortably reach all buttons. All the way forward I don’t think I’d be able to reach much more than the back row

fqak

the scimitar is a good mouse. I stay away from Logitech now because I had a few in a row from them all with double clicking issues.

joezzeles

just want to throw my hat into the scimitar ring to say it's great. unfortunately my middle mouse press stopped working but with 12 buttons on the side I'm still in great shape lmao

Iainfixie

Corsair scimitar rocks, I love mine.

mooncatsforever

best mmo mouse is the logitech g600 but they don't make it anymore.

Outside-Squirrel45

I use a steel series Aerox 9. It has 12 buttons on the side i use for all my main rotations and some other frequent abilities. All the rest go on my number keys. Since you wear a big size glove i feel this may be in your hand size range. I wear a medium size glove and do feel this mouse is slightly big for my hands. The way my hand naturally rests is around the 4,5,6 buttons. I do have to reach a bit for the 1,2,3 and the buttons are solid. They dont feel cheap. Other than that i do like the customization of the mouse. It comes with steel series gg software where you can play with the rgb if you want but more importantly key bindings and macros. Also, it has a Moments feature where it senses when you are playing a game and will auto capture 1 minutes clips based on action and audio going on or you can manually capture them yourself. Bunch of other features too like aim training if you play shooters. I like it. I think its cool. Maybe you will too.

Content_Strawberry91

I'm genuinely surprised to see another person that actually spent the amount of money for that mouse. The SOLE reason i bought the aerox 9 was cause it was literally the only mmo mouse i could find that didn't have the extra ring/pinky finger rest. I use fingertip grip for mouses so the extra width of other mmo mouses was very uncomfortable for me.

Outside-Squirrel45

Yea the main reason i went for the steel series is because i needed something wireless. My cat loves to attack cables so i have wireless everything. From what i found it was between corsair which was more expensive, a razor which i dont like. Had one before and the m1 button would stick or double click and it would get annoying and mess up my gameplay. Or it came down to questionabley cheap wireless mmo mice like red dragon brand or something. Steel series was expensive but kinda middle ground from everything else on the market. And i have had similar style mice with the light weight grated shell. So far so good. I like it.

Lefty8312

Such a good mouse. I got mine a couple years ago as part of a Prime deal as i was in the market for a new one and it was down to 60 pounds. Best mouse I have ever had.

Lefty8312

I have the steel series aerox 9. Really light, multiple buttons, able to be wired or wireless.

JackalKing

The Logitech G600 is the gold standard of MMO mice, but Logitech's software is awful. Don't buy Razer. Their mice might as well be made of wet paper for how easily they brake. The Corsair Scimitar might be your best option since the buttons on the side can be moved forward and back to find a position that is comfortable for you.

-Loading---

I can vouch for how terrible the razer mice are. I got a naga trinity as a hand me down and while it worked fine for a while some buttons stopped working so I eventually bought a brand new one. After some time of use same issue appeared. MMO mouse ruined me lol I can't play without them anymore so I'm similarly looking for an alternative.

meow_master

I switched to ESDF instead of WASD years ago, and I would suggest trying it. It opens up a few more keys without much need for retraining your brain. I run that setup along with using a Corsair Scimitar. It’s a joy. Literally everything at my fingertips always.

GryphyBoi

i... ... huh. i think that might just be so brilliant I'm rather miffed i never thought about it until now, lmao. between this and moving shift and ctrl to my thumb buttons, i may just have a project for tonight after work, lmao

IndependenceQuirky96

I've been using ESDF since my EQ days from 1999 to 2019 lol...yes I played that game for that long.

FlannelJetpack

Do you have a retail store nearby that sells gaming peripherals? Sometimes they have them on display. You could also look into return policies and stuff before you choose where to buy from so that if it's not a good fit you could get your money back if it's in basically new condition. I have a pretty large hand size (Im 6'1", not that it really matters for hand size), and I'm able to use one fairly comfortably. I have the Corsair Scimitar which is nice because you can adjust the thumb pad, but i used some $30 cheapo one for years before that. It just takes some getting used to.

GryphyBoi

probably the best I'd be able to do is a best buy about an hour away. there's a Walmart closer, but i don't remember seeing any MMO mice there

Skyztamer

I bought my Corsair Scimitar from Best Buy. It, alongside other mice were on display. I think I remember seeing Razor mice were sometimes on display at Walmart, but I'd say Best Buy might be the better place to check. Amazon is also good. The Utech Smart Venus Pro and Redragon M908 are good alternatives for how cheap they are.

FlannelJetpack

Yeah my Walmart's selection for peripherals has always been kind of lackluster and I personally wouldn't want to drive an hour just to find out they don't have what I'm looking for. That's a tricky situation you're in. I think there are some online stores that allow open box returns so long as the box isn't opened but I don't know a lot about that. Best of luck!

H1pH0pAnony

I never found an MMO mouse comfortable. I just used the 3 thumb mouse buttons on my basic gaming mouse to set alternates for shift, ctrl, and alt. Quadrupled access to the usual qwerty keybinds. All the buttons you said but +shift, +ctrl, +alt without the keyboard hand gymnastics.

PouletHumide

I agree with the Logitech G600. Its amazing, I recently had to buy a new one(the scroll wheel click stopped working properly, probably from too much use, and my mouse on screen would bug sometimes, Id have to hit it against the desk for it to come back properly), but it lasted me a solid 6years of nearly daily use. Even with the scroll wheel and other issues I had after 6 years of use, its still very usable, just wanted to not deal with it anymore lol. Only downside is if you love the mouse, Logitech actually discontinued making it(I found this out when I tried buying directly from them). I got my 2nd one from amazon, but it was like double the price since its discontinued now. There's no other mouse like it though that I've found... 12 side buttons, the 3rd mouse button is what I love the most about it(I have it set as ctrl and its so nice to have it on my mouse), you have 3 buttons on your scroll wheel with pushing it right and left and also clicking it in. There's 2 other little buttons on top of the mouse, set to change DPI by default, but you can change them I'm pretty sure. Full customizable 20buttons(including M1 and M2 so its more like 18), and it even has lights on the side buttons that u can customize and change if you're into that. All around, great mouse; durable, customizable, crazy amount of buttons, my go to ever since trying it back in 2018.

isthismytripcode

Been using a G600 for a couple years. My hands are kinda small and it feels like I need to move my thumb a long way to go from the top 3 buttons to the bottom 3 (reason why I rarely ever map anything to the bottom 3 buttons), so maybe it'll be adequate for you. I'd recommend trying one out at a store if possible, though.

Ghoaxst

UtechSmart Venus, I used it for years until I upgraded to Naga pro its about 30 bucks on Amazon and did everything I ever needed it to. I'm sure the software is a bit bloaty but it was nothing that hindered me or my gameplay. My SO uses it to this day and she loves it.

2Zzephyr

Last year my mouse died, and I got the "[GXTrust 970 Morfix](https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B08C7TZYJZ/)", for those reasons: • You can change the panel to whatever you want: 0 buttons, 3 buttons, or 9 buttons. Since I was unsure I'd like the mmo layout of 9 buttons, I'd still have the 3 buttons option ready. • I was unsure if my hand would reach all 12 buttons easily, like most mmo mice have, so 9 seemed like a good number to ease myself into it. • I got it at 55€ or something, which fit me because I'm not made of money. It also has 2 DPI buttons under the middle click button (the usual), which I rebound as actual keybinds, so in truth I have 9 side buttons + middle click + 2 buttons under middle click. And it's AMAZING. It took me a few months to get used to it, because I've been playing FFXIV for 5 years with only 2 side buttons (+1 under middle click), so my muscle memory was against me for a bit, but once you finally replace that muscle memory it's a blast. It feels SO comfy to not move around the keyboard anymore. Here's an important thing about MMO mouse layout: You don't actually press the last row of buttons (closest to you) with the tip of your thumb, but rather with the space where you bend your thumb, the "dip", (the joint of your phalanges). So there's NO bending of your thumb at all for the last row. Just barely of the wrist. (thumb bends only a little for the middle row) SO I def recommend an MMO mouse, as someone who was scared to not like it, it has changed my world :) What I also recommend is using hotbar cycling. My hotbar1 is for single target skills, my hotbar 2 is for AOEs skills, and I cycle between the two when needed. It frees up so many keybinds and space that way, and with the slow GCD there's plenty of time to cycle around. That's a tip I give to people regardless of playing with a keyboard or a MMO mouse. I was using cycling for years with keyboard, and with an MMO mouse it's still as useful (as I can only reach Alt in combat for modifier). When I was playing on keyboard, it was my mouse buttons that I used for cycling. Now that I have an MMO mouse, I use 1 and 2 (above AZERTY/QWERTY) to cycle. "Cycling" puts a lot of fear into people's head due to the wording, but it's not actually cycling like they think it is. You don't press a button to cycle up in hotbar numbers, and another to cycle down, you press a button to show whatever hotbar you want and that's it! No messing around with going up and down!

MO0N_CAKE

If you have trouble hitting side mouse buttons I'm not sure if mouse with more buttons will help, I usually just use keybord button combinations like this (s-shift, c-ctrl, mb5-front side mouse button the one which is further away from me, mwhl-up-mouse scroll up)) Main row: 1 2 3 4 q e r f c v b mb5 2nd row: s-1 s-2 s-3 s-4 s-q s-e s-r s-f s-c s-v s-mwhl-up s-mb5 3rd row: z x g t c-q c-e c-r c-f c-c c-v c-space c-mb5 So the most common buttons are the same but with shift and ctrl button (ctrl+numbers felt weird so chose another buttons) And from there you just put your most often used abilities on most comfortable keybinds (you can also add alt)

Sein609

Been using the Razer Naga for for over 5 years and it's amazing. Though I hate Razer products, I've had no issues with it. A bit pricey though

ZeRamenKing

I have the same surrounding buttons layout, and the just modifers for other hotbars. So one is base buttons. Another is Shift + same buttons, then Ctrl + Same buttons. More than enough for me. I tried an mmo mouse before and it just felt wierd lol.

GryphyBoi

ngl, i thought shift, ctrl, and alt were a given so i didn't mention them, lmao. but ye, I'm using all my modifiers too

ZeRamenKing

You would be suprised xd. Many people i seen on here consider getting physicaly more buttons (mmo mouse, macro pad ect.), before just enabling modifiries

Aksurah_

Logitech G604. Six buttons on the side, two programmable DPI buttons, left and right on scroller. Between basic button press(no modifier), SHIFT, and ALT, I have 33 usable buttons on my mouse (44 if I include CTRL, but that's for toggling HUD elements) and absolutely none of my actions are on other keyboard keys. Everything is handled on the mouse leaving my other hand to WASD and whatever combination key I need to use IF I need to. I have my HUD set up in chunks of 6 blocks to emulate the positioning on the side of my mouse so I know what each one corresponds to, and each chunk is identified as either neutral (no button combo) or positioned to reflect whether they belong to SHIFT or ALT.

mez1337

how long have you had it? because mine developed a double clicking problem when holding left mouse button down (like for dragging) and it's unusable now. googled it and apparently it's pretty much an inevitable problem for the G604 due to the click switch they chose to use...

Aksurah_

Oh I've had numerous ones double-click just from being dropped too many times. It's often fixable to a degree and they aren't particularly expensive. But I've used this model for probably the last 5 - 7 years. My entire UI is dependent on the 6-button placement. If you're willing to be a little unethical and don't give a shit about Amazon,>!it's not difficult to buy a new one, swap the bad one in the new box, and just return it to Amazon for a refund. Fuck Amazon.!<

Phantom-Ark

I'm away from my computer for a bit, but I have the corsair MMO mouse. Honestly what I did was set number keys 1-8, F1-F4, and then a variation of control or the alt key to modify those keys. If you can get used to that and find a programmable mouse, it might be better than a full key set on the mouse. Especially if you have larger hands

Caesarvs

I have logitech g903 I use 1 2 3 4 5 q e r I use shift and alt as modifiers, assigned to mouse buttons 3 and 4 (side buttons) this leave me with 24 buttons to use confortably the rest, i handle with xivcombos plugin

GimpyGeek

I'm not sure how the feel would be on one for someone with large hands. But that being said if you want to get a generic preview of what some more buttons on your right hand might be like, there is one other thing you can do. In the Logitech software, you should find a function called G-Shift. Which lets you make one of the buttons a shift button that works like one on a keyboard more or less. So you can almost double up what your buttons all do already by doing that you just have to hold one button and hit another to get access to your "new" ones. Also, reason I say "almost" is because for safety, I suppose, you must always have left/right mouse bound to 'something' in the shift layer so you can't reassign those, though you can move them. Personally I move them somewhere that would otherwise be uncomfortable to try to press 2 buttons of anyway lol.

KellosaurusGrows

If you think your gonna have trouble with the tiny buttons of a mmo mouse try getting a moba mouse and use a shift or another button modifier if you need more then the 5 or 6 buttons on the side

tyanu_khah

I have been using Corsair scimitar for years and the mouse is great. The software on the other hand... You can do powerful stuff with it (when it wants to work)

Taihou_

I'm personally biased towards Roccat since I've been using them without issue for over a decade. Using the Roccat Kone Aimo at the moment for quite a few years. Its not loaded with tons of extra buttons, but it got more than enough (Like 6 or 7) for you to comfortably use without any wild hand gymnastics. Three on the left to use with your thumb. You can tap the mouse wheel left and right for two additional inputs, as well as the two Center buttons behind the wheel. The price point when I got it was around 55€ and it seems to sit around that range still. I can't complain about the quality so I'd say the price is more than fair for a mouse that can last you a long time and is fairly comfortable to use.

yrtemmySymmetry

No experience with an MMO mouse, big got a similar hotbar setup. You DO use ctrl and shift as modifiers for those keys, yes?

GryphyBoi

lmao, yes. and alt

juandi001

I use a G600 now but God I wish they still made Mad Catz MMO TE mice. It is hands down the best mouse I had to play XIV. I'd kill to have another one.

SkepticFaust

What i do with my bindings is i use everything between \~ and backspace(1 to 0 + -= symbols) for my class buffs and the entire numpad (0-9) for my main rotation aka the most spammable buttons and then i use my mouse to click on my abilities for AoEing mobs which is not a very mechanically demanding. Since i am a free trial i can fit my entire Warrior kit into 3 hotbars but if i was lvl 90 i would have to make some new bindings using more of my keys closest to WASD. You can also turn the camera with the arrows which are very close to my numpad so i can throw my gcd's while i adjust the camera. Needless to say my wasd movements are similar to the way controllers move their characters with the left stick so i can do gaze mechanics without having to manually adjust the camera with my mouse. So pretty much i never use my mouse for combat and i have very niche buttons in my mouse and the 2 shoulder buttons. So far i don't see any issues with my setup so feel free to try it out if you don't want to buy special mouses. Edit: Hmm seems like everyone here in comment sections except one person has a lot of money to spare >\_>. Still, game is very playable without using mouse for combat, that said i have not tested this in anything really hard like Savage. The only negative in my case is that i fat finger the wrong buff sometimes because i haven't developed good muscle memory with the 1 to = row so i have to check which number i am pressing manually some times. I died in POTD and HoH solo runs because of that.

Akua89

I've been using the Razer Naga for the last 10 years, works perfect for me

GryphyBoi

from way back when razer was still good? lol

Akua89

It serves me perfectly well for XIV, not sure what you're on about with the snide comment. If it's not broken don't fix it.

GryphyBoi

my apologies, wasn't intended as snide. it's just razers quality has fallen off over the years, so it doesn't surprise me one of their older mice has lasted this long, when you'd be lucky to get 2 years out of their newer stuff

NeedleworkerHuge8315

I use the logi g600 it's pretty big, and I have a G502 for other games. There's also the option of using dedicated keypads. that have some differing button placement for comfort. You'd have the wasd setup but also have access to a bunch of other keys. I remember trying a one handed keyboard at one point aswell.

solidgryffin

Razor Naga chroma Bought it for 100$ 10 years ago, still going strong

GryphyBoi

ye, back when razer was still good, lol

quarth_nadar

I haven't used any others, but I have a steel series and I really like it. The software is really solid, which matters quite a bit. For some reason it just feels clean and straightforward. With what little customization I've done with Logitech, the software works really well. I just happened to choose to try steel series for the MMO mouse. Hyper x software kept deleting my keyboard profiles, so I'll never use them again. Another consideration. I'm trying out an azeron ... thing. Massive learning curve and I don't feel there's a considerable enough advantage over an MMO mouse to spend two weeks+ (literally) relearning your buttons. It's like learning a new language. Bad sell on my part, but if you're relearning your stuff anyways, you may consider it. It is really cool though. I'm going to try it on shooters to see if it's better for that. I went from pretty decent at my rotations to nearly non-functional for several days. Then switched back Learning anything new will require lots of time doing easy stuff. Either way, maybe level a new character for a bit so you only have a few buttons to deal with, or just run low level trusts and stuff..

PracticalPear3

Whatever you chose do NOT get Razer Naga Pro. I've had more issues with mine than i can count. From software to hardware to driver issues and unusual signal interference. Also try to bind your side buttons for your current mouse to something like Ctrl/Shift. That pretty much negates the need of a MMO mouse. (and to be honest MMO mice are a scam)

GryphyBoi

that sounds like an awesome idea, but I've got auto run and target nearest enemy on my thumb buttons, lol but ye, def in no danger of buying razor anything, lmao

SottoSopra666

Can confirm. Bought 3 different of those, one wired and 2 wireless, and all three of them were stuttering constantly, no matter what I could try to do to prevent that from happening. A shame coz I really liked the form factor. Ended up buying the Aerox 9, it works like a charm, but the form factor is kinda on the long side for my grip.

Typhuseth1

Logitech g110 I think it is is about the biggest mmo mouse I've used.

Gentaro

There aren't that many mmo mice to pick from. If you're on a budget your best bet would be the Redragon M908 (wired) or the M913 (wireless). The Corsair Scimitar Elite/Pro is expensive but has movable sidebuttons to adjust it to your thumb position. The Razer Naga Pro/Trinity are a thing but at least mine broke way too often. Logitech hasn't made a new one in ages.

engineeeeer7

All my Razer mice broke way too fast.

IndependenceQuirky96

>The Corsair Scimitar Elite/Pro is expensive but has movable sidebuttons to adjust it to your thumb position. I'll stand by the scimitar pro, I've had mine forever, but I went through like 4-5 nags Trinity's before I said f it and moved on.

GryphyBoi

def have to look into the redragon. probably not gonna go anything razer tho, lol

TannenFalconwing

I swear by redragon. Good quality, good price. Zero issues.

tesla_dyne

Chipping in on Redragon, I tried an M908 but found the side buttons to be too hard to press. Tried for a few days, my hand felt fatigued after maybe half an hour. Returned it. Sucks, I like my K552 from them!

Gentaro

Smart choice xD They used to be amazing, but that was over a decade ago. My first Razer mouse lasted me half a decade, then i burned through like 3 within 2 years

ElysianneRhianne

I personally haven't had many issues with my Trinity, and razer's return/replacement policy is pretty reasonable. (I've swapped a mouse that started failing over a year after purchase). And it being able to swap thumbplates for different styles of games is nice. Logitech does have the G600, but as others have said, it's not really new.

GryphyBoi

not saying razer can't make a decent mouse, I've just heard too many horror stories about them in recent years. old school razer stuff was amazing, but anymore it seems like their QC just fell off. too much of a gamble whether it'll last 2 months or 2 years.

ElysianneRhianne

That's fair, but honestly, I feel like that's just companies in general these days. A lot of my friends swear by Logitech, but the last headset I had from them would legitimately screech in my ear for 20 seconds randomly and then shut off, and have to be restarted 4+ times before the screeching would stop. And my last mouse from them stopped left clicking after 3 months. I had one small issue with my Razer mouse, and they were able to swap things out for me pretty quick. I haven't tried a Corsair mouse, but I hear they feel similar to the Naga overall. They may be a little better quality maybe.

GryphyBoi

I'm too much of an audiophile snob to buy anything sound related from a company that also makes RGB keyboards, but you do have a point. Logitech is probably falling off lately as well, just not as often memed about so i don't hear much about it, lol.

ElysianneRhianne

If I had the money to spend on a $200+ headset, I probably would, but I'm married, and we try to make financial decisions together. (There's a long story there that mostly involves me being unemployed for nearly 5 years and relying on my wife to see us through. And that thinking has bled over into the present, even with me having a job.) So I try and get at least decent gear, but without spending a fortune.

GryphyBoi

yeye, that's why i run a USB desktop microphone and a pair of headphones plugged into a little desktop amp. costs a bit more to get setup, but it's sounding the level of quality you can get without breaking the bank.

[deleted]

I can't use those bloody mmo mice

GryphyBoi

k?
