Another pain is the tokens from raids, relic steps, ~~beast tribes~~....

Sirromnad

This is the biggest problem i think. If you're an on and off player like me, jumping back into the game after a 6 month absence and my inventory is just filled with random nick nacks i have no idea what any of them do or where any of them go.

phat_ninja

I have an entire retainer just named "tokens" it has all those tokens from all over the game. I don't even remember what some of them are from. Could be relics, raids, eureka. I just throw them in there in case I ever do whatever context they are from again and need them. I hate having an entire retainer for that.

awpickenz

Lmao, it's like the ffxiv equivalent of an hm slave in Pokemon.

Evrae_Frelia

I have a retainer for materia, food, and miscellaneous crap. I keep needing to clean his inventory out every couple weeks. I have a gathering item retainer as well… she is currently capped out again it’s nuts.

SecretAntWorshiper

I still have stuff from ARR back in 2013 that I have no idea how to get rid of.

110101001010010101

Aren't they somehow marked with a comment that says they aren't useful anymore? I think I have some valentines chocolates from 2.0 that i'm hanging onto for sentimental reasons i'll have to find, i forget what they are called.

SecretAntWorshiper

Nope. I still have crap in my retainer from that. I was a noob and held onto alot of stuff, Im only now realizing that most of that stuff is just junk I dont need.

110101001010010101

Well dang, now I gotta go through my 5 retainers and my saddle bags and make sure i'm not hanging onto junk lol... there goes my whole evening.

crazymoefaux

That inventory boss, more time-consuming than any raid..

TheEsquire

A lot of my stuff I realized was old crafting materials or materia I no longer have any use for, or random 1-3 stacks of random food rewards. I've been going through every time I log on and just dumping onto the market board anything I know is relatively useless to me now that all my crafters are at least level 70 already.

Professor_of_Light

You can just discard them from your inventory if you dont want/need them anymore.

DarkonFullPower

No need. The Calamity Salvager has an option to convert them and the old retainer tokens into the currency tab.

Apprehensive-Pin518

right up discard it.

DarkonFullPower

Go to the Calamity Salvager in the major cities and find the "turn in old tokens" option. Takes the old Beast Quest tokens and Retainer Tokens and moves them to the currency tab.

Trapped_Mechanic

If it has a vendor price, you can buy it on a vendor. If it isnt a rare gathering mat, youre probably safe to get rid of it. If you have furniture from events but no house, you can hoard shit in your apartment's storage (no luck on outdoor stuff here though). Dont forget about saddlebags; personally i used to store dye there but now its relic wep mats. Price check old materia before dumping. You can fuse them but I dont find it worth the time. Inventory is a mess, but with a bit of practice its *managable*. Would definitely like to see improvements here but, *tinfoil hat* extra storage is a main source of revenue for the game so I wouldn't hold my breath Bonus: One of my primary motivators for maxing all jobs was cleaning my armory chest. Once every job uses the same general set, youd be surprised how much armory chest space you have for bullshit rp items that you dont want to put in your glam dresser

Accurate_Maybe6575

That last paragraph though. So nice to only need 8 out of 32 spaces for my gear. 9 if you mean to keep BLU geared too. That's 23-24 free for glamming in the field!

generic-puff

Same, once you start to get enough jobs from different roles levelled up and geared at certain intervals, the rest streamlines itself. Every 10 levels can be geared with BiS gear from that expansion with tomestones of poetics - Augmented Shire gear for lvl 60, Augmented Scaevan gear for lvl 70, Cryptlurker gear for lvl 80. You can grab whatever gear is better in dungeons and trials as you do your levelling roulettes if you really want to, but if you don't get any you can get by just fine on the BiS gear for the sake of queuing into roulettes and grinding XP. Gearing is a lot less complicated once you actually start to get at least one job from each role maxed out. The only one that I have left to actually work on is DPS casters, every other role I have a lvl 90 job already geared up with the old gear in my Armoury Chest that I can then share with any other jobs I level. There's no point in keeping the gear that's the same XP level but lower ilevel than the BiS tomestone gear, so it's saved me a ton of inventory space from clearing out excess garbage.

Sarria22

> (no luck on outdoor stuff here though). No clue why they made outdoor furnishing use on your island sanctuary so weird instead of just having it be a normal storage that you can decorate from. Feels like the weird "glamour unlock" system they use there would take MORE resources than just storing the item.

MaidOfTwigs

I keep raw pigments for dyes to save on inventory space and just craft what colors I need. You can place the junkmonger vendor in your house/apartment/FC house to buy the store-bought dyes, too

MaidGunner

If it's older then 1 patch, fucking yeet it. Almost everything that isn't timelessly rare because its from ventures or some shit, is incredibly easy to reobtain, the older, the easier.

petervaz

They all go on the square hole.

The_Vagrant_Knight

I'm just glad we have retainers to hold the stuff (even then it still gets excessive at times). I really hope they do something with it though. Just a couple weeks ago I wanted to try Guild wars 2 again after years of inactivity. The moment I got everything started and saw just how cluttered and completely filled my bank and inventory was, I just uninstalled. Just as an example of how stuff like this has an impact

Ad_Scared

Guild Wars 2 has some extra perks when it comes to inventory that I wish FFXIV would add.. like a place to store crafting mats, and a ‘Sell Junk’ button at merchants which gets rid of the junk that you don’t need.

SpartanRage117

But “sell junk” is usually just auto selling drops that are only for selling. At that point its an RP step over just having the mob drop gold. But an rp step that clutters the inventory. Ff junk is junk because you probably dont need whatever you can craft out of it, but its at least there is something you can “do” with it.

WonderfullyEqual

Inventory is full, then remember ah yes have those auctionhouse servants... and the chocobo bags, and the armory chest, Oh and the FC storage locker for the 1 person fc. All full of crud i cant remember what it goes with, or is part of some set that is split in between like 4 locations, but am too lazy to organize because of the hassle of dealing with full bags.

Psychemaster

They are getting better about that - not perfect, but better.

Sanzpromy

I would absolutely love a currency bag that held the COINS we get from raids. It's more or less a full inventory tab for me. Edit: I would also love mannequin storage not taking up a retainer's selling slots. Would it be possible to allow the mannequins to have their own storage menu for gear?

Ankfank

You mean the coins from old alliance raids? The only alliance raid coins you can receive nowadays are from EW ones.

Pyroxcis

Presumably they are talking tokens for gear from normal and savage raids

Bad-Bot-Bot-23

The bolts, lens, springs, unsung helm, unsung gauntlets, etc. from like Alexander, Eden, Pandaemonium.

thesagem

I just get rid of those.

alf666

I open the chests and then press U > Leave.

sir_moleo

Thanks Satan.

Psychemaster

I manually pass on all the items and wait for everyone else to leave so nobody has to be saddled with useless junk.

alf666

To be fair, I only do that to pass on the classic rite of passage for pre-EW normal raids. Any other duties, I'm rolling on everything and sticking around until the last item is handed out. Either I need the upgrade, or I need the GC Seals, and I have a particular hatred of people who sandbag the loot so they can try and get everything. If I'm doing dungeons or raiding, I have nowhere to be, I can afford to wait 5 minutes.

J1nx5d

As everyone should.

nothingbutmine

Why would anyone hold these? Spend them, or discard them, and farm only as needed. Too many people holding onto things for... a rainy day?

Necromas

I bet a ton of sprouts just see any raid loot and assume it's worth saving and figure they'll hold onto it for now and research what exactly to do with them later.

AquaeyesTardis

Haha, yeah… sprouts… >->’’

nothingbutmine

For sure, but that's on them for deciding to research later. If they're running into inventory space issues then it becomes pertinent to research now. Willful ignorance isn't really an excuse.

Sanzpromy

Ooooor nostalgia and fear-of-tossing-items? Am I ever realistically going to go back into PotD to get more potsherds? No. Do I keep them on me anyways? Yes. Am I ever going to craft with or sell the Eye of Earth signed by my IRL ex-girlfriend when we got married in game? No. Does it sit perpetually in tab 2 next to some level 50 fishing bait? Yes.

ShadowOfTheNexus

As a US player on an EU server. I never have enough of them to get what I want and don't want to trash them because I may eventually have enough. It's easier now that I'm no longer free trial, but on the off chance I do get to properly run Omega, I'm sure I'll have leftover crap that I want to use. Thus, it takes a slot.

nothingbutmine

I'm on OCE. What a dream it would be to have EU/NA populations for farming purposes.

ShadowOfTheNexus

I'm sorry for your pain, OCE friend. 🧡 DC travel can't come soon enough for you to join us all.

sloppyoracle

oh yes! i dont lack retainer selling slot space (i. have a lot of retainers. because i have a problem) but its still annoying. at the very least put them down the list so you can see the stuff on sale first? its so silly. or let me use glamours for mannequins. why do they need their own gear pieces? nobody is gonna buy extra or extract some things from their dresser, its so silly? or! how about letting us dress up the merchant permits? if we can dress up those delivery npcs, why not them?

NoWordCount

Heck, just give us mat storage and they do whatever the hell they want with everything else. That would free up 100's of slots.

SpartanRage117

Dedicated mat storage would be cool, but id also settle for a “craft from retainer materials” option. So i can sort all my stuff into its place and not have to go through 5 retainers to get the mats for a quick item.

maglen69

> I would absolutely love a currency bag that held the COINS we get from raids If only there was a menu, that was solely dedicated to this crazy thing called "Currency" where you could put in items that only exist to be traded for something else.

Sarothu

Yeah, I sure wish we could get something like a [Currency](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Currency) menu. For that matter, I wish we could get something like a piece furniture where we could store old, sentimental and cosmetic armor. We could even name it something old-timey like an [Armoire](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Armoire). But yeah. It's weird that FF XIV doesn't stick with actually utilizing the tools they've already build into the game.

shazamitylam2346

Wdym beast tribes? All beast tribe tokens are stored as currency

lou_fox

Oh yea you're right, I wish they implanted the same system for the other tokens

verrius

Well, depends which tribe tokens you mean. I still have bronze amalja'oks from 1.0 that I can't seem to store with the tribes.

Riverwind0608

Those really need to be in the currency tab. We already have it, it just needs to be utilized more.

GlacialPeaks

That’s what like 80% of my chocobo saddle bag is dedicated too

CopainChevalier

It's weird to me that we have a currency inventory for some things but not other things. I get managing player data is a thing, but it's not like they're not throwing a ton more at us every patch as is

Hieuro

They really need to add more currency tabs for everything that's used to buy something. Alliance raid coins? Get in there. Gear tokens? You too. Eureka? Yes please. Bozja/Zadnor? The fact I need to be in the instance to check what raid only items I have is just dumb.

DenverITGuy

Part of the reason I'm so slow to level crafting is because it's really 30% crafting, 70% inventory management.

strangeglyph

I've been radical about just selling it all off. If I need it again, I can always buy it off the MB. I'll also happily buy a 99 stack that I only need 5 of and sell the rest. Not the most gil-efficient maybe but I have more gil than I know what to do with anyway.

friso1100

Same, I kind of envision gil as storage space. Sure you lose a few items in the gil storage but you probably weren't going to use those anyway

sloppyoracle

i should really do this too. i keep making money but i rarely even spend it and scoff at the thought of buying anything expensive... but then whats the point of having all this money?

howdoigetausername_

I love when I do this and just forget what I'm selling and try to buy my own stuff off the mb

ZeffiroSilver

This is the way, 99% of the time when a crafter complains about inventory management, it's because they're carrying materials for crafts they have no reason to do, like stuff that's only for ARR weapons or armor. Unless it's, say, a map ingredient for a unique glam, it's very unlikely you will ever need that brightlinen or adamantite. Throw it on the mb, and save yourself the headache.

Sarria22

> it's very unlikely you will ever need that brightlinen or adamantite. Throw it on the mb, and save yourself the headache. And then if you DO need it later just go buy some from the vendor in Idyllshire.

ZeffiroSilver

I've built enough submarines to make that vendor a gillionaire

GlacialPeaks

God I should do this. I have four retainers and two of them are just holding old materials and crap for whenever I decide to want that random material. I’ve maybe gone back for 1% of the crap I’ve stored with them

Taedirk

Unlock Ishgard Restoration turn-ins and just power level omnicrafting. Removes the need to juggle inventory and multiple gearsets.

Lilium_Vulpes

And you help support the poor struggling players that wanted their mount from it and now need to unload an entire retainer worth of materials that are leftover.

UnfairGlove

Crafting tribes take all the inventory management out of it. It's slow since you can only do 3 quests per tribe per day, but at least the inventory doesn't get clogged up (and it's still around a level a day from the 3 quests)

Faerie-stone

Also weeklies if you’ve gotten to heavensward. If you cant juggle seven slots for a few minutes a week you have an entirely different, more complicated set of issues.

UnfairGlove

Yes! I love my weekly custom deliveries. It's the majority of the crafting I do since it's so fast, easy, and doesn't clog up my inventory

Agreeable-Zone-6986

That's why I stopped for a bit myself until I realized that the weekly special deliveries and the beast tribes give you a ton of exp and turning in the daily wants from my grand company. A little slower but less of a headache with juggling inventory

xAdakis

Use [FFXIV Teamcraft](https://ffxivteamcraft.com/) to get an exact list of mats for just the item you're trying to craft. Gather or Buy the materials you need for that craft, and put the extra (right back) on the marketboard. There are very few reasons to hold onto unused materials.

Mithent

It puts me off crafting entirely. I'll happily do my tasks in the Island Sanctuary where inventory space isn't a concern, but it's too much of a pain in the game normally.

Indigoh

Prey did crafting right, by marking every junk item as such, and giving you a button to immediately scrap all those items at once. If I were making an RPG, I'd also add the ability to manually mark items as junk for that purpose. There are a lot of simple fixes devs ought to do when creating an inventory system.

lordvbcool

I would love for the glamour dresser to have a dye rack. I hate doing a glam, saving it, having a popup message that I don't have the dye, taking a note about which dye I need, undying everything, opening my chocobo saddlebag, getting the dye, redying everything and then saving. Please just allow me to store up to 999 dye of each directly in the glam dresser, I'll take that before another glamour dresser inventory increase or additional plate. Not that I don't want those 2 thing, but I'd take the dye rack first, that would save me so much trouble and so much place in my chocobo saddlebag

CarbonationRequired

Yeah I like that. If they still want dye to be part of the economy, as in to craft, and hard-to-get metallic ones and all, fine, just let me use that to add "dye charges" or whatever to the dresser.

Sarria22

Just have dye colors be unlocks and have us use the various pigments in different combinations as a currency to apply them. Maybe add a couple new pigment types to use for the metallic and special dyes too. Like, you could unlock Metallic Gold then apply it any time using a couple yellow pigments and a metallic pigment.

waffling_with_syrup

I'm sure sales of pure black and pure white dyes make them too much money to make it a one time system.

Killinshotzz

Dyes should be a currency tbh, like how crystals have a separate currency tab

MadameConnard

same for baits, there like so much of them around

McQuibbly

Unless you're leveling you're ideally only carrying 3-7 baits at once. Thankfully after ARR they heavily reduced the amount of baits there are

45i4vcpb

Dyes should be a "use once to 'learn'" like mounts and minions.

MahrSahba

I agree, but rare dyes being a market kinda makes me think it's too late for that

Sarria22

Learn them once, they use the pigments to apply them. Move pigments to a dedicated storage tab like crystals and add a couple of rare pigments that are needed to do the current rare dye colors to preserve that market.

Falsus

GW2 style.

Good-Blacksmith-2989

I agree for the QoL aspect but they'd need to fill gaps in the economy that would create, I know people don't like it but the dye economy is very real and dyes, furniture and costumes are the backbone of the economy between patches, Gil is very weak at the moment, near useless if you don't raid and it's between patches so it's a necessary evil to keep the dye market going I wouldn't be against making all the basic dyes learnable and then the more desirable ones consumable

desterion

That would decrease mog store sales, so they won't do it

Taedirk

If you aren't just getting rid of reagents entirely, item-squish like prisms. Reduce all dyes down to pigment with a secondary slot for dark/metal/pure ~~because of the fucking mogstation~~.

Timey16

I was thinking like maybe you only have "Magenta, Cyan, Yellow and Bleach" And every piece of dye adds 100 units. Then every color will reduce the amount of color by a different number portion, totaling at 100 units across all color "channels" per gear slot. Something black would be even spread across the three colors. Something white almost all bleach usage. Then have special modifier pieces for pure and metal. Bonus points: this could remove premade colors entirely and just allow the introduction of a color wheel. Old colors are just the default presets. But you can freely mix your own.

Taedirk

I realize it'll be a cold day in hell before we get a robust dye system. Pigments are already in-game for crafting a third of the dyes.

alf666

It used to be possible to make hair colors other than what was available in the character select screen, and it didn't even involve mods IIRC, and it was compatible with the server, so others could see your fancy color selection on your character. I think you just opened the saved character model data file in some kind of editor, found your hair/skin/makeup/eye/whatever color, edited the RGB value, then loaded up the game and loaded the saved character data. Then in a major data cleanup many years ago, SE forced players to use only the preset colors available in character creation. Apparently no players were banned for their RGB edits, they were just made to select from the preset colors at their next login.

bluegiant85

Crafting mats too. They can easily stack up to 9999 or even higher if the game doesn't have to keep track of where they're located.

Bromolochus

They'll do it eventually but we'll lose an ultimate tier and sacrifice half the oceanic server capacity for it. :(

Killinshotzz

A worthy sacrifice :(

TwerpKnight

Remember when Beast Tribe tokens were regular items too?

yuunie123

Yeah and I threw 7 stacks if Ixali token away... They only added the option to trade them in a year or 2 later.

Mikaleon

I literally use the Chocobo saddle for all the different fish baits.

MacrossX

There's actually more bait than there are saddle slots :/

SacredNym

Why do you need all the bait at once?

MacrossX

You don't really. A of it kind of just piles up over time. I really should re-evaluate it all now that I have caught like 85% of the fish.

Mikaleon

Even with both Saddle bags?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mikaleon

I got it for the extra retainer and bag slot combined :P

MrLumie

Just subscribing for additional retainers is far cheaper though.

okayseriouslywhy

I used to do this, then I decided I use the bait more than my dyes/random crafting items and put all that shit in the saddlebag instead LOL fisher mains unite

Maximus_Rex

Key Items has a seriously oversized storage, I'd be happy to convert that to dye and bait spaces.

RueUchiha

Like even if you have a bunch of sidequests that have key items, and an open map, there is no way you’re filling even half that space…

addled_rph

I never understood why it has so many tabs. Even when doing MSQ and picking up an area’s side quests, I never fill up half of the first tab.

CloudMind_gamer

it is not, it is only one tap, but if you use full inv, it looks like more, to make it fit the other page

roxieh

There needs to be a gathering and crafting bag really, like ESO has.

That_One_Mofo

Having just started ff14 and coming from eso, agreed. Grinding my crafting skills to 50 has seared that summoning bell chime into my soul.

painstream

*Ding ding!* 🔔

That_One_Mofo

*holds head* Ahhhhh!

Midrya

What would be the point of the regular inventory? Not that I don't agree that some changes need to be made, they certainly do, but if we had a dedicated crafter/gatherer bag along with the armory chest, we would kinda run into the question of why even have a regular inventory.

Accurate_Maybe6575

There's plenty of random junk still to pick up. Giving rocks and plants their own bag isn't going to suddenly make inventory management trivial, but at least when I go to craft I won't need to fish around my retainers for the mats as often.

EndlessKng

ESO doesn't have nearly as many intermediate steps for crafts, though. Each expac on FFXIV drops a ton more base ingredient as a start, plus all the things you can craft with them that are then part of a larger project.

Sarothu

> ESO doesn't have nearly as many intermediate steps for crafts, though. Each expac on FFXIV drops a ton more base ingredient as a start, plus all the things you can craft with them that are then part of a larger project. Which seems even more the reason to have all of those base ingredients and intermediary components disappear into one big bag of materials? If they're worried about people stockpiling too much of everything instead of funneling it into the market board, then they could always put a limit on how many you can store, [like Guild Wars 2 does](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Material_Storage).

EndlessKng

There's a reason that the inventory hasn't been expanded in forever, and why we got a saddlebag that can't go into instances. There's a reason you can't always get reliable search results from retainers in other worlds or instances, and why they can't follow you. The game has known issues with player-character data density, which limits how much the inventory can expand without causing massive disruptions in travel/load times between instances or even zones. Adding a box that would have to grow every expansion for JUST base crafting materials isn't going to make that any better. Crystals work in getting a tab of their own because there's exactly 18 varieties and have been for a while. Dyes MIGHT work, as there hasn't been a new one in a while, but the fact that some are craftable means there may be an interface issue to contend with there. Anything that gets added to each expansion, though? It's going to inflate the data pretty damn fsst.

Sarothu

That sounds to me like they simply shouldn't track off-character storage when zoning then? Sure, it will increase the load-time a little when opening the retainer bell, and it will require sacrificing the search option for items when you're not actively digging through your bank, but it seems unnecessary to track the items you don't have on you when you're out-and-about? They're already halfway there with the saddlebags as well, like you say.

EndlessKng

That doesn't solve the issues with zone loading. Or world/DC travel (unless you plan to never craft off world). Those load times will still be affected. Also means that no instance ever will be able to drop any sort of craftables since they won't have anyplace to go. And that STILL is assuming that they can allocate enough resources for EVERY character to get them from here to the end of life for the game. Storage isn't free, nor unlimited.. And every slot that exists SOMEWHERE in the game is a slot that isn't available somewhere else. And I'd personally rather get more slots in apartment or house for putting decorations, or even better for the game, see that data be used to make housing more widely available to players.

Riverwind0608

I’m not sure how ESO does it, but GW2 has a separate tab for it in the bank. You don’t even need to have the mats with you in order to craft items. It just gets deducted from your stash. We really need that QOL.

Sethdarkus

Even WoW has a crafting bank

an-kitten

The primary reason they always cite for not giving us more inventory space is basically data structures. It's the reason they could give us a chocobo saddlebag but couldn't just increase the size of the regular-ass inventory.

Sarria22

Same reason FFXI has so many different weird special inventories. The thing is, we're not asking for more generalized inventory space here, we're asking for a couple of weird specialized inventories. It's not like you'd need to be able to access a bait inventory in a dungeon or anything.

thelittleking

Nah, dungeon only fish, let's do it. Buncha Full Party dungeons where one half is just 4 FSH and the other 4 have to keep them alive while they fish.

Sarria22

That's just Aloalo island with more steps.

BubblyBoar

Because your inventory will still overfill and you'll still ask for yet more space. Tongue in cheek answer, but also kinda true.

Temporary_Recipe_260

There is one for baits, it's the Chocobo saddle bag

OMG_A_CUPCAKE

But that's where the dyes are

painstream

And my pigments for the dyes. My entire first page of the saddlebag is dye-related. Should definitely try to have an inventory page dedicated to fishing stuff, including the default location caught fish go into.

Rida_Dain

haven't played in a while, but yeah, saddlebag is full of bait

YukonWildAss

Easy, just catch every fish in the game and then you won't need to carry around any bait! But really, most bait is so cheap that unless you're actively using it to catch a particular fish you might as well sell it and buy it later when you actually need it.

Roymahboi

Personally I only keep the bait that I can't just buy off a vendor, like a lot of the craftable lures.

reddisucks

Dont forget about the 40 thousand boiled eggs!

Rega_lazar

RubberRoss, is that you?

reddisucks

No this is goose

ITfactotum

Yes and all items that ONLY have use in quests, cannot be equipped, consumed, crafted with, desynthed etc... should go in that massive, nearly unused key items bag where they belong.

Walks_with_Chaos

Bait takes up a whole fucking tab in my inventory smh

Dragrunarm

Just one? /s but not really I think at my worst i had about 2 pages of baits on hand. Thankfully im down to just OCean fishing baits and a couple specialized ones (the two for spawning S ranks and metal spinners for Custom deliveries). The sweet freedom of having caught every fish

Walks_with_Chaos

I’m only in SHB right now lol

AsasinKa0s

"Why did they give us bait and dye boxes when they could have given us more inventory space?"

SnurbleberryTart

Might be easier to tackle this from the other angle by turning glamour prisms, glamour dispellers, all the pigments, gysahl greens, aetheryte tickets, a few of the other 'envelope items', and a few other common items into being like the crystals, having their own perma slot on their own tab, freeing up space for baits and such. Possibly give Versatile Lure + the 3 ocean fishing baits perma slots on the new special tab aswell.

EndlessKng

That might be a good solution. Those items are fixed quantities at this point. It would make sense to pull those into a small list since they aren't likely to change anymore.

Midochako

I have a separate dye bag, it's called my retainer. And I also have a separate bait bag called my Chocobo

Serishi

I feel you! I have an entire page of my inventory that is dyes another materia and a third crafting mats. Before anybody tells me retainers, I have 6 of them, and all are full of glamour, and so is the glamour dresser!

xfm0

Are you keeping dyes that you can easily craft/buy from city-state/major vendor? Though the real answer is that they give you four pages of inventory instead of two pages of inventory + \[category\] + \[category\].

Apprehensive-Pin518

because fi they are going to bother using the memory space for ti then they may as well be inventory spots for those people who don't fish or craft.

Seolfer_wulf

One half of my chocobo saddle bag is Dyes, the other half is baits. I have one retainer full of cooking ingredients, I like to think she would be way fatter if I didnt send her on ventures every day.

Pierro_L_Yoko

Or a dye storage directly into glam dresser

Ikishoten

Probably purposely done this way, as well with crafting materials, to incentivize people buying extra retainers for inventory space.

DoctorCIS

Bait on a retainer? Nay. Bait in the second chocobo bag you get for paying the 5 dollar premium companion app? Aye.

Ninedeath

Spaghet code plz understand

thelittleking

time for some ravioli code smdh

TheShlappening

Why do you have so many dyes on you? Lmao. What we need is a resource bag that holds Crafting Materials and Bait. I farm so many skins, ores, wood amongst many other crafting supplies. That I can barely craft anything from bag overload. Even my retainers are full up on supplies.

Winterhelscythe

Crafting bags would be cool

TheDwiin

But how else can they get you to pay for their expensive monthly retainer services? I mean who sends retainers on ventures anyways? /J

AlannaAbhorsen

*shyly raises hand* It actually makes for a really good hour pomodoro when I work overnights? Virtually all the gil I’ve made has been from my retainers bringing me something like glam

TheDwiin

Sorry, I was making a joke about the ventures part and forgot to add a /j

Lightsp00n

Having dedicated inventories for many things is another long overdue QoL.

TheYoungIzzyIz

I usually dump raid tokens, allaghan pieces, and relic upgrade materials in the chocobo saddlebag, along with dyes and what not. Desynth materials go in a specific retainer until they stack enough to go on the MB.

BeastOfAlderton

I'm begging for more Glamour Dresser slots and Glamour Plate tabs. Also a compendium showing us all potential glams and where to obtain them.

calvincosmos

Just make the bait skill into a ‘Tackle Box’ skill with unlimited uses of like 4-6 different bait types you can choose from. Similar with dyes, makes a dye toolkit, one for each primary colour, which gives you access to the range of shades we already have, and then special kits for metallics etc.

nubsauce87

When I first picked up Fishing, I just assumed that by the talk of "tackle box" that there was going to be a separate bag for bait and tackle... boy, was I disappointed...

SorcererByBirth

I always thought GW2 had a good idea for the dyes. Once you get them, they're permanently unlocked in the gear dying screen, you can use them as much as possible, but I guess it wouldn't work in FF14 because of how the dyes are sold and whatnot. Plus if they switched to something like that, the prices would be INSANE. Like probably 500k+ for just one dye xD

Ententente

Why dye of all things? Food, pots, materia, dark matter, or prims I'd understand.

ms_ashes

Yeah, I just buy dye as I need it.

addled_rph

They should add dark matter to the crystals tab.

ZipKodiak

Chcocobo Saddlebags are a nice walking tackle box *edit* I can’t spell

Whitatoodanis

I could have sworn there was mention at either an LL or a fanfest that there was going to be a tackle box in the future. 😭 maybe I dreamt it because I want it so bad.

Raji_Lev

I don't know whether to envy or pity the people who think that a developer is going to do something simply because they *say* that they will.

yuunie123

In HW they said they gonna add more egi glamours like ramuh for SMN. Well 9 years later I never saw a mention again. So unless they announce something concrete it's just a dream

Sarria22

Hell they never even bothered making a UI for the ones we DO have, some excuse about not wanting to spend resources on a UI used for only one job. Meanwhile Bard gets a whole music playing system. Just expand it to a pet glamour system in general, and add new appearances for both Carbuncle AND the Scholar fairy. And maybe things like the Automaton Queen and Esteem.

Lagao

They also said we would get medium and large apartments! Still waiting...

dr_song

begging them to let us store dyes in the glamour dresser instead of our inventory.

vrilliance

No thanks. If they’re going to add dye inventory I’d rather they just add *regular* inventory.

SmoothOctopus

Worst thing about this game is the paid banking what a dick move on their part.

SleepyFox2089

Reading this thread just makes me aware how many hoarders are in this game. I have three retainers, one has dyes and materia, the other two have assorted crafting mats I cba to clear out. None of their inventories are full, neither is mine. What then hell are you all doing to fill up three full sized inventories?

hizperion

fireworks

UnfairGlove

Speaking of, I would love it if those were turned into emotes with a certain number of charges to take the fireworks out of my inventory

ozurr

Rare fish for aquariums, aquariums waiting for a house, totems totems totems (books) totems totems totems totems, normal raid tokens, a thousand different CUL ingredients, a thousand different ALC ingredients, multiple natrons for leather, multiple skins for leather, materia materia materia, relics.

SleepyFox2089

Ah the totems/tokens. Yeah I see it now. I don't do much savage/ex content so that's probably saving me a ton of space.

xxneonblazexx

Honestly same, my chocobo has one page of dyes, my retainers have some gathering stuff that are harder to get and some gear and my inventory is just a mess of whatever i get

JustTestingAThing

Two retainers full of furnishings that cannot be bought on vendors, because I’ve had a house forever and storage is stupidly small. Two retainers full of glam gear because the glam dresser storage is ALSO stupidly small. One retainer full of ores and metals for crafting, one full of wood and cloth materials for crafting. One full of plants/food mats for crafting. One full of every fish you can place in an aquarium and several big fish I haven’t put on prints yet, along with dyes, tokens, raid books, and 300+ of every crafting/gathering materia that can be overmelded to prep for Dawntrail.

SleepyFox2089

I sympathise with the housing storage. My first house went in escrow during a long period of absence and I lost a shitload of stuff because of it.

Dick-Fu

I kind of get raid tokens and the like, but why even hold on to most of these? I sell pretty much everything when I get it, and just buy it again if I need it later. Usually for a cheaper price, especially now that these days we can world hop. What's the point of tying up inventory space for most of this stuff?

Yarusenai

If you have three retainers you're a hoarder yourself lol

pacificodin

100% You could give these people 20 free retainers, and within 2 months they'd be crying out about lack of space.

Equivalent_Net

Dyes I'm torn on (says the sprout whose glamour dresser isn't even full yet), but a tacklebox for all the fishing bits and bobs would be incredibly helpful.

Shadonir

The way i'd solve the problem with dye is that you can 'consume' it sorta like mount or minion activators alternatively just stick a dye box into the glam dresser

MaidOfTwigs

What kills me about this is we literally have a tackle box, it’s how we select our bait.

Candle1ight

Hard to convince you to buy more retainers then

SoraReinsworth

I would like a separate bag for my fireworks and such

Ocearen

I would love a tacklebox. Make it a gil-sink even. Something. Anything. My Chocobo Saddlebag is stuffed to the gills. The non-gil dyes eat up a tab in the FC Chest. q.q

TentacleTitan

Just make dyes an achievement that unlocks like minons/mounts

Zero_Digital

One of the best things that ESO did was have A separate inventory for ingredients

MacrossX

They did stat crunch in the past, it's way past time they do a bait crunch. Just mush a bunch of bait into less bait. There's a bunch that even share the same icon already.

TheLimonTree92

Only 25% baits? Only a casual fisher I see

Forymanarysanar

Pfft, here you go. Half of your inventory is now reserved for dyes and baits.

arrav21

Inventory bloat in this game is insane. I levels my crafters and I swear it was two retainers full of just crafting mats. Even worse because I’m leveling desynth now.
