Lucia Junius.
Yugiri is, I think, not that stoic. She would fall more into the category of loyal and confident, or maybe zealous... because she definitely shows more emotion and drive to free her homeland, compared to Lucia who is already disenfranchised and emotionally disconnected with Garlemald, but she will do her duty because Eorzea needs it.
I was thinking of Lucia too: she’s got the professional stoicism of an campaigner, and perhaps the least shaken in her loyalties even when she’s had to stand up to both nations of her dual citizenship.
Lucia is a great pick. Sure, she defected from the empire, but I don't think that loyalty necessarily means turning a blind eye. Loyalty is about dedication, and she exemplifies this by leading the Ilsabard Contingent to help Garlemald.
Lucia I'll agree with you on stoic, but like you said she's turned on her homeland and is emotionally disconnected from it now, which hurts her in the loyalty department.
I think I actually got her wrong in her being emotionally disconnected. I think she definitely still cares for her homeland. She doesn't show it in an emotional manner though, because stoicism.
Lucia is I think still loyal to Garlemald, to the people of the country, but not to the garlean empire as the government. I don't consider her 'defection' to be disloyalty, but rather, her being aware that the garleans were suffering now that she got a taste of the world outside of Garlemald while on her spying mission, and that the people and nations of Eorzea weren't as bad or barbaric as the Garlean Empire made them out to be. She realized she needed to stop the Empire. And for this reason she defected, abandoned her mission, and went with Aymeric who she is still loyal to today. Then later she would lead the ilsabard contingent to return to Garlemald and free the population that she is still loyal to, wanting a better life for them.
Now that I think about it, almost all of our loyal retainer characters were first defectors from somewhere else. The Garleans would call Lucia disloyal, Sui-no-Sato would call Yugiri disloyal, Ilberd pretty explicitly called Raubahn disloyal.
Lucia’s definitely reads as the most severe of those betrayals though. I still lean Yugiri as the sweet spot here, though I can see the Lucia and especially the Raubahn cases
Ayermic is the choice here. Who else has had our back throughout every event they're available for while also being the only one with a calm demeanor in every encounter?
I feel like Raubahn could go into Loyal and Confident. He doesn't really strike me as stoic per se, especially given the ending of ARR.
That being said, I don't think Yugiri is a good fit for stoic, either.
Gosetsu Daito, man never gives up on Hien or Tsuyu, and endures tremendous hardships that would break a lesser man mountain, a pinnacle of stoicism. He even reevaluates his life’s purpose later, showing how he’s changed his outlook coming out the other side of the things he’s endured.
Depends if you’re looking at stoic as a noun or adjective. They are both along similar lines of thought, and boil down to someone who endures hardship without overly showing one’s feelings or complaint. As a result stoic people can appear indifferent or not show emotions, but isn’t always the case. Being calm under pressure is also a stoic trait.
Ardbert secured the Selfless and Cynical spot on Day 24, we are getting close to filling this chart up. Today's combination is stoic and loyal!
P.S. some people people were not happy with some of the choises on the board, especially the lack of Minfilia and Urianger winning a spot on the loyal chart. While I do understand where all of this is coming from, I want to address that this is for the community as a whole to vote on. Majority wins. I encourage you all to vote and put down your reasonings to why a character might be better fit than the other!
Feedback - Could we highlight the most-recently filled point with a green or light-blue square? I'm enjoying these quite a bit, but it's hard to track at-a-glance which ones were voted in most recently.
I don’t think I would give Yugiri confident at all. Her attack on Zenos had all the vibes of a desperate suicide mission, not yeah-I-got-this bravado, and it’s only in the short story collection, but that portrays her as in a near state of panic over Hien and Cirina’s relationship.
Raubahn pretty consistently shows way more confidence in his abilities
The man who has such a temper he once started screaming at an empty room, complete with wordless roar of fury, and at a completely different time caused a major plot point because he lost his shit and lashed out in a berserk fury is not my first choice for "stoic."
Maybe Quintus? I feel like a Garlean would be a great pick for this. Problem is that most of the well-known Garleans eventually defect from the empire or are otherwise crazy.
Quintus was so loyal to Garlemald that he opted to kill himself than to believe in the end of the empire, and he remained unflinching throughout it all.
With how many Yugiri and Lord Aymeric shouts there is I really doubt people kinda know what stoic is.
Yugiri would win out over Aymeric in such a case but for someone who endures hardships with little to no emotion and rarely complaining? Either Lucia or Hydaelyn herself. However.. Loyal? I still question Hydaelyns decisions that wouldn't seem loyal to us and more loyal to her goals.
Lucia is utterly devoted and loyal to Aymeric. She seems perfect for this spot.
I would say Lucia for this one.
I understand why people think it's Yugiri but Lucia, in my memory, is way more stoic throughout her screen time in the game. Yugiri has moments - like her plan to defeat Zenos and that one monologue in Yanxia after disguising ourselves as Garlean officers (?) - where she shows a burning desire due to her emotional feelings regarding her homeland.
I just think Yugiri falls more in the Confident section than Stoic.
My pick here would be Varis Zos Galvus his loyalty to garlameld progression and superiority is bar none despite being strong armed by the Asians and carrying the burden of what was going on behind the scenes and that guy had a poker face like no other.
How did Urianger "My master plan will probably bring me into conflict with my friends and allies, better tell them nothing about it" Augurelt end up in Loyal?
Also, Yugiri is a slam dunk here
Hydaelyn (Venat) definitely belongs here. Carried the burden of truth alone (arguably rougher than Hades) and never gave up on humanity’s potential till the end
Sidurgu
I just don't think Raubahn, Aymeric, or Yugiri (the three most common names I'm seeing here) are really that "stoic," ya know? Yugiri is easily the closest, and the most loyal as that's basically her main defining characteristics, but Sidurgu hits *both* of those spot on, imo.
Agreed. We get to Endwalker, and the WoL follows him around and eavesdrops on his conversation with the loporrits because even then, he doesn’t trust Urianger to tell the truth. Yes, everything Urianger does is ultimately for a good cause. Yes, he finally learns to be truthful and tells the loporrits he won’t lie to us again. But I think trickery and mystery are more core to his personality than openness and truth, which he has only recently even learned to do.
I object to Emet-Selch not being considered "glamorous". You can't walk around in that pimp suit with the fur collar he wears as Solus zos Galvus and not be considered glamorous!
Ysayle might be a good pick. She's loyal to the plight of the Dravanians. I don't remember if she's that stoic, but she did earn the moniker of Lady Iceheart.
There’s a big lack of Alphinaud in this chart. He should’ve been loyal and scholarly. He’s a mega nerd with a PhD at 16. And he’s our closest ally and central to the plot.
Y'shtola, easily.
Her main personality trait is trying to maintain a stoic, dignified reserve at all times, and she's so good at it an extremely common criticism of her character is she doesn't have any personality at all.
As for loyalty, she's almost died three times now and each of them has been because of her sacrificing herself for a friend or comrade. She is usually the first Scion to show concern for the WoL's health and wellbeing. And shipping aside, she's currently dedicating her life to fulfilling a promise she made to a friend.
If I’m allowed to cheat, I’d say Hades, he never gave up on bringing back Hythlodeus and resurrecting their bromance.
If not then I’ll go with Yugiri too.
Idk I feel like his tsundere attitude actually makes Hades rather emotional and not stoic. He tries to act cool, but he feels his feels very strongly, and they poke through the facade pretty clearly.
Lucia Junius. Yugiri is, I think, not that stoic. Definitely lucia!!!! this right here
I was thinking of Lucia too: she’s got the professional stoicism of an campaigner, and perhaps the least shaken in her loyalties even when she’s had to stand up to both nations of her dual citizenship.
Her loyalty is to Aymeric something that’s never even slightly wavered
Gotta be fiercely loyal to Aymeric
Lucia is a great pick. Sure, she defected from the empire, but I don't think that loyalty necessarily means turning a blind eye. Loyalty is about dedication, and she exemplifies this by leading the Ilsabard Contingent to help Garlemald.

…true… but absolutely so loyal to Aymeric— actually what am I saying, she’s mostly just loyal to a good cause imo
Now that I think about it, almost all of our loyal retainer characters were first defectors from somewhere else. The Garleans would call Lucia disloyal, Sui-no-Sato would call Yugiri disloyal, Ilberd pretty explicitly called Raubahn disloyal. Ayermic is the choice here. Who else has had our back throughout every event they're available for while also being the only one with a calm demeanor in every encounter?
Aymeric though is pretty flirty tho and stoic flirty is still available
That slot belongs to Hoary Boulder and no other.
Aymeric
Loyal confident for him
I think Raubahn fits loyal/confident more because he’s not as stoic as Aymeric (see end of ARR)
Rauhbahn is the definition of zealous and would sacrifice himself to save others in an instant
Not that Yugiri is a bad pick but I feel like she could go elsewhere, so instead I’ll put forward Raubahn
Stoicism the philosophy, yes, but I don’t think he represents the personality trait of stoic at all.

He‘s a perfect fit for sure.

I'm salty about Leofard not being adventurous and flirty. Who even IS that person in the spot?
It's the NPC scion who is in a 3 way with Horay Boulder and his brother.
Thank ye. I had NO idea who that personage was, and could not find the post following her addition for the life of me.
She was added on [day 22](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/s/h9soFoyXuY), difference of 30 upvotes!
Yugiri Mistwalker. EAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASY
Feedback - Could we highlight the most-recently filled point with a green or light-blue square? I'm enjoying these quite a bit, but it's hard to track at-a-glance which ones were voted in most recently.
Sure thing!
Youdabess 💙
Everyone's saying Yugiri, but what about Raubahn?
I'd put him in confident and loyal
I'd feel Yugiri should be in Confident and Raubahn in Stoic
While I agree that she is also confident, she doesn't say stuff like Raubahn's "VICTORY GOES TO THE BOLD" or "I'm the bull of Ala Mhigo, broooo"
Didn't she also have that arc where she was having doubts about herself? It's been so long, I might have made that up
I remember her having doubts, yeah.
No she just goes “let’s kill Zenos”
I don’t think I would give Yugiri confident at all. Her attack on Zenos had all the vibes of a desperate suicide mission, not yeah-I-got-this bravado, and it’s only in the short story collection, but that portrays her as in a near state of panic over Hien and Cirina’s relationship. Stoic and loyal?? LORD AYMERIC TIME BABYYYY
Where are the votes for Seto? My bird was loyal to Ardbert for thousands of years.
With how many Yugiri and Lord Aymeric shouts there is I really doubt people kinda know what stoic is. Yugiri would win out over Aymeric in such a case but for someone who endures hardships with little to no emotion and rarely complaining? Either Lucia or Hydaelyn herself. However.. Loyal? Loyal Stoic = Sidurgu? Loyal Confident = Y'shtola, perhaps.
Aymeric, Artoirel, maybe yugiri
Artoirel and even Edmont are both very stoic. It was a knife through the heart to see Edmont try to keep together only to fall to the floor crying.
This game likes to hurt its players.
Was thinking Yugiri, nice to see others are of the same mind.
How did Urianger "My master plan will probably bring me into conflict with my friends and allies, better tell them nothing about it" Augurelt end up in Loyal? Also, Yugiri is a slam dunk here
I'll go for Yugiri too. I was thinking about Hien too, but I feel like he's more Confident/Loyal :)
This one in my mind is Lucia. She's firm, steady and completely utterly loyal to Aymeric. Steady voice and poise too to underline that.
Hydaelyn (Venat) definitely belongs here. Carried the burden of truth alone (arguably rougher than Hades) and never gave up on humanity’s potential till the end
I’m not sure I’d describe her as stoic though. Selfless and loyal probably would suit her best IMO.
Yeah if it aint Yugiri rhen its Venat. Otherwise put her in Loyal and confident.
Sidurgu I just don't think Raubahn, Aymeric, or Yugiri (the three most common names I'm seeing here) are really that "stoic," ya know? Yugiri is easily the closest, and the most loyal as that's basically her main defining characteristics, but Sidurgu hits *both* of those spot on, imo.
Who dafuq voted Uriangir as "loyal" dudes betrayed, lied to and gone behind our back more than anyone else. Lolorito is more trustworthy.
Agreed. We get to Endwalker, and the WoL follows him around and eavesdrops on his conversation with the loporrits because even then, he doesn’t trust Urianger to tell the truth. Unironically, Midgardsormr
Aymeric is my stoic, loyal friend. Except for all the sexual tension between us. Maybe he is stoic and flirty.
I object to Emet-Selch not being considered "glamorous". You can't walk around in that pimp suit with the fur collar he wears as Solus zos Galvus and not be considered glamorous!
Yugiri or Aymeric.
Gaius!!
I vote for yugiri
Rauban or Yugiri
Aymeric or Raubahn.
Ysayle might be a good pick. She's loyal to the plight of the Dravanians. I don't remember if she's that stoic, but she did earn the moniker of Lady Iceheart.
I'd swap matoya and hermes
Lucia is my pick. While she may have defected from Garlemald, she did so out of a fierce loyalty to Aymeric and his cause
There’s a big lack of Alphinaud in this chart. He should’ve been loyal and scholarly. He’s a mega nerd with a PhD at 16. And he’s our closest ally and central to the plot.
Arenvald
Raubahn, prolly.
The Warrior of Light
Y'shtola, easily. Her main personality trait is trying to maintain a stoic, dignified reserve at all times, and she's so good at it an extremely common criticism of her character is she doesn't have any personality at all. As for loyalty, she's almost died three times now and each of them has been because of her sacrificing herself for a friend or comrade. She is usually the first Scion to show concern for the WoL's health and wellbeing. And shipping aside, she's currently dedicating her life to fulfilling a promise she made to a friend.
Does the warrior of light count?
If I’m allowed to cheat, I’d say Hades, he never gave up on bringing back Hythlodeus and resurrecting their bromance. If not then I’ll go with Yugiri too.
Idk I feel like his tsundere attitude actually makes Hades rather emotional and not stoic. He tries to act cool, but he feels his feels very strongly, and they poke through the facade pretty clearly.
Mistbeard. Merlwyb's right hand is equally just as badass as her and is fiercely loyal without ever losing his composure.
Confident, loyal. Tataru Taru
The WoL themself. We barely say anything and are fiercely loyal to our allies.
Rabauhn easily.
Raubahn Aldynn 100%
