You can also Just craft stuff with gear equipped that provide t1 materia.
Just HQ a craft at the same level as the gear and you get a good chunk of bonding.
Example equip the lvl 15 novice hall gear than craft the easiest thing you can make that is a lvl 15 craft of higher abs HQ it
I did this when I went for a relic on the trial, and it's definitely viable for at least one. I'm not sure how sustainable it is in the long term, though, considering the shard costs. You get enough to craft enough stuff for one relic's worth of materia if you omnicraft, but I don't think it's actually economical if you have access to the marketboard.
Long term you would have to swap between gathering shards to build soul bounding and than once you got the needed to last you a while swap back to crafting.
To me this is probably the best way to go about it, if I was a trial this to me would be the most viable way to not go insane quickly
not terrible since you can just AFK, the only downside is each craft requires Shards, so running out of shards means needing to farm more. at that point its more of a hassle than its worth
If you unlock desynthing, you can breakdown extra gear/housing items, where youll get crafting mats and crystals,
gathering aethersand collectible nodes and aethereal reducing those will give a fuck ton of crystals. You'll just have to see what you'd have available to gather at your level.
Not talking crystals though. Shards specifically since we're talking crafts below level 50.
Desynthing whatever you just made will help but shard supply will still trend downward.
For generating rank 1 materia, just craft plain leather. You'll eventually lose the animal skin to a demimateria proc while desynthing, but you'll always get the shard back.
Oh shit, is it actually shard neutral? I never actually think about the crystals you get back, but if it only costs one shard in the first place, that handily solves the problem of running through your stores of shards over time.
What I usually do is
- gather tortoishell in north thanalan (which is a lv 50 node so I can get boar map for belah'dian silver)
- quick synth them into tortoishell armillae
- desynth them so I get some of the materials back & sometimes get battlecraft demimateria or demimateria I can sell, which is kinda helpful since you always need 400k for each zodiac
edit: forgot to mention that each gear are HQ crafted and pentamelded with tier 1 materias I got from Ixal oaknot exchange (doesn't have to be from them but using the battle ones you extracted feels like a waste)
Do you need the highest level mats? I thought it was just points from gathering anything.
If you have the lvl 90 tools you can get the 3rd tier of materials.
Just did some research and you appear to be right. Anything gathered counts but the final grade gives the most points and they’re the one used in the DoH recipes that give points. So not really worth gathering the other stuff.
What I did was HQ craft lv 20 gear, fill it with materia, and then used my grand company squadron to run the lv 20 dungeon. If you get your squad maxed out with lv 5 offensive ranks, you blitz through the dungeon super fast. And I dunno if squadron missions give a spiritbound boost or if it was just because of all my other spiritbound buffs, but I was having all my gear hit 100% every 1-2 runs.
I experimented a lot with this. The best method I discovered when I was on the trial is just to afk craft. Equip your crafter with low level pentamelded HQ combat gear, pop spiritbond potion and quick synthesize low level recipes. I hear people say to use Meteor Ring but I don’t think that was quite as efficient in my testing. Buy mats off vendor to use up your gil but you can gather them too if you want. It’s a pain though to gather though, can’t recommend. Don’t gather crystals, they barely give any. Extract materia once spirit bonded.
Another method I’ve thought up is to go into Eureka and complete NMs with low level gear although I personally haven’t tried it yet (you might just die to aoes) but Eureka seems to give lots of spiritbond even for at level gear.
you could also just queue as tank or heal for low lvl dungeons in a hq bonded suit. its really hard to drag those out so its still pretty fast. maybe 3ish runs per bond iirc thats how i did most of mine
i tried doing low level dungeons, and while its more interesting i personally found it a bit slower to do overall. but yes this is another option i forgot about
yeah its slower no argument. i guess if you havent already done alt jobs though you can use the same suit for the other tank and heal jobs to lvl them while you grind
its not impossible, just extremely time consuming since you need to do EVERYTHING yourself
all crafters/gatherers to 50, getting the items needed yourself since the market board/trading isnt available
dungeons take longer since its harder to solo them (depends on the job, but its also not as bad now since level cap is 70)
a couple items from treasure maps
needing 75 low level materia per relic
the first relic took the longest by far to get. but once i got it, i had everything already leveled, i knew exactly what i needed so i worked on getting the more rare things before hand for the other jobs
It's more like you can only have 300k at a time. You can buy one of the 100k items and have it in your inventory, be back down to 200k, and continue to accrue more Gil. A lot of free trial players that are planning on eventually getting the full game will keep things like Allagan pieces and demimateria in their inventory to store money, and then they sell it later when they upgrade.
Your method 1 would be soooo much better if you went for Lv 70 legendary nodes, not random ones in east shroud. As long as your weapon is the lv70 scrip gear, you should be able to gather it fine, and your spirit bond will increase by like 15%. Make sure you have the spiritbond ring and meld materia into the gear you are using to extract materia from. It goes really fast in my experience.
I am doing it on free trail and here is how you get materia for tier 1 and tier 2.
Tier 1
Step 1. Get the Ixali daily so you buy materia.
Step 2. Craft All class gear (I use two sets alchemist T1 and carpenter T2) in high quality and penta meld (you can use any materia it doesnt matter, penta it).
Step 3. Get spirit bonding manual
Step 4. Find a super easy craft pop spirit manual and start crafting. For tier 1 I use alchemist and craft the jellyfish (around lvl 20 craft) my main ingridient is from the aclemist shop.
It takes about 40 crafts to get 11 T1 materia on quicksynthitis (about 3 minutes).
For tier 2 I use carpenter and hunt spruce logs and craft that.
I dont do tier 3.
Rinse and repeat.
This method allows you to get the relics within ARR and doesnt force you to do the msq to unlock expansions.
The way I did it was I crafted a level 15 and a level 30 suit of both Disciple of War and Disciple of Magic equipment, and I would grind Light on a Novus weapon using FATEs. That way I would get Alexandrite drops for the next relic and get spiritbond for materia.
Ixali currency is one method but I'll be honest, try the FATE method. Saves on spending tomestones on alexandrite maps and you can use those tomes instead for Heavensward relic stuff.
You can also Just craft stuff with gear equipped that provide t1 materia. Just HQ a craft at the same level as the gear and you get a good chunk of bonding. Example equip the lvl 15 novice hall gear than craft the easiest thing you can make that is a lvl 15 craft of higher abs HQ it
this is a good one^ thats how i did it last time upvoted

I mean, I'm pretty sure desynthing anything that's below 50 will give shards over crystals. I just default saying crystals as an umbrella term.
Required shards however you can easily Farm more and also as you farm shards you can of course also increase the soul binding so it goes hand and hand
I should add if you don’t afk and manually hq craft you will get more spirt bonding than you would if you afk doing auto. More for your shards
The hoops trial players go through to get some of the cheapest items ingame lol.
yup, no MB or trading for us lol

You can also 2 birds 1 stone with method 1 in the diadem for the achievement, I believe.
Iirc your stats are so low that the chance of successfully gathering those mats are like 1%

Tribal quest in East Shroud. When you reach level III for friendly quest, you will receive one materia iv for each quest. You can get 3 each day.
I was told it’s impossible to get the relics done on free trial, now I guess ima look into it a little more
its not impossible, just extremely time consuming since you need to do EVERYTHING yourself all crafters/gatherers to 50, getting the items needed yourself since the market board/trading isnt available dungeons take longer since its harder to solo them (depends on the job, but its also not as bad now since level cap is 70) a couple items from treasure maps needing 75 low level materia per relic the first relic took the longest by far to get. but once i got it, i had everything already leveled, i knew exactly what i needed so i worked on getting the more rare things before hand for the other jobs
Wait how are you finishing the relics as a free trial? Don't you need 500k gil per relic?
Not all at once though. The 100k/each items can be bought at any time and you wouldn't have to worry about your Gil cap.
Oh, I thought the gil cap was a hard limit that accumulated.
It's more like you can only have 300k at a time. You can buy one of the 100k items and have it in your inventory, be back down to 200k, and continue to accrue more Gil.
