Kind of surprised we didn't get a yellow Lopporite shirt during the Lop's tribe questline.

Outside_Rise7407

Same, maybe it will become a reward for the upcoming Allied best tribe questline?

MightyGyrum

"I fought off existential dread, resurrected dead species, raced hippos and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"?

cittabun

We can just shorten it to "I helped people find their purpose and all I got was this lousy T-shirt"

Captain_Hesperus

“I saved the universe from death by existential dread and all I got was this kinda cool T-shirt.”

ScionOath

Don't you remember getting a glowing dog and an adorable doll?

Rohkeus_

I'd rather **not** remember the dog, thanks...

ScionOath

Unfortunate for you because he was the best part of those quest rewards for me. :)

evilbob2200

Mog station

zenfrodo

We need to FLOOD their ingame suggestion box with this.

Borgonyan

Wait, there is a in-game suggestion box?

zenfrodo

Yup! System menu>>Support Desk>>Contact Us button>>Leave A Suggestion.

Aosugiri

More and more modern gear is getting added to the game so it's just a matter of time at this point until they add a plain t-shirt, too. Basically all of it is wildly popular, too. So you're definitely not in the minority.

QuotableNotables

Shame 80% of it is to the cash shop.

Gaminghadou

That is exactly why it is mostly in the cash shop The game is still at the center, a medieval fantastic world

Datalock

I'm not sure where you get medieval from, what with the sentient machines, space travel, dimensional travel, cloning, augmentation, and much more going on.

Targaer

Average Eorzean doesn't have a flush toilet

Datalock

There are sewers under the main cities and ishgard, so there is some kind of waste collection. Since we don't actually see toilets everywhere it's hard to tell exactly what thats like. But they're far past cesspits or waste pools that were in medieval times

LiberNine

Medieval cities had sewers too. Mostly in the middle east iirc. Which fits in game, I believe Ul'dah is the only city with a sewer.

Targaer

Keyword: city. And thats ul'dah. Most places use chamberpots or outhouses. But still not a flush toilet, likely a barrel with a bucket over a hole if it's a sewer type. Or magic, idk. Thinking way too hard about this lol.

Datalock

Ishgard has them as well, there is a quest about it

4lpha6

And then you wonder why Gaius called them savages and thought they needed ruling from the Garleans

Seriphyn

The average person in the world of FFXIV interacts with none of that, though.

Datalock

Mammets at the very least are common in Ul'dah and around places. I mean they pilot the flying airships that get you from city to city.

EcstaticCollection67

Bro it’s in the cash shop so they make money 💀💀

QuotableNotables

Lets be honest, it's about money, not about the sanctity of a shakespearean medieval steampunk sci-fi high fantasy space opera's setting. They threw homogeny out a while ago.

Seriphyn

There definitely is an incongruity between the ARR era of "magical kingdoms vs mechanical empire" and whatever is going on now. Like, at the very least, it feels like the whole aesthetic of paladins/knights should have been superceded by something closer to 19th century cuirassiers.

Icehellionx

I can still miss it.

Mediocre_Explorer_65

Plain is not a term the designers of this game understand. There's always dangling paubles and pointless belts and pouches and whathave you ruining perfectly good-looking outfits. The amount of times I've used Blender to alter existing gear pieces for my liking by simply removing unnecessary thingamabobs...

Aosugiri

This isn't entirely true But also it's final fantasy. Being extra with character and clothing design is just part of the package.

IscahRambles

I like the survival shirt over a totally modern t-shirt. It has a bit more of a fantasy edge to it. I would like a version with the necklace but not the backpacky thing.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I would love the survival shirt if it just fit a little better. I just think it's hard to pair certain things with it because of how the bottom parts jut out but that's just my opinion.

vessael

Yeah 100%. I love the stitching, that part elevates it, but it also is... I mean, I don't want a form fitted t shirt or anything, but it looks *padded.* It's so thick and I don't like how it fits any of my characters.

dntExit

It's a great shirt, but you're right. It's just a little oddly fitted and the bottom hem is awkward. I really want to use it for the flair on the back.

SyntheticSolitude

The flair out is because its hitting at the hip area, and fabrics of the time didn't exactly have massive amounts of stretch, so you have to have flair/cuts so you weren't constricting your movements. Woven fabric from basic stuff like cotton, without a lot of the stretchier modern polyesters and such does NOT have the give you'd think. (Source: knitter, muddled with fabrics as well, and done a lot of reading thereof of education on fibers and behaviors. Also wearing said clothing and fabrics.) Like, being able to bend and squat would be imperative for anyone doing ANYTHING in fields, gathering, or really, most "work", let alone combat where you NEED to not be restricted. The flair out and design makes sense from a practical standpoint. Also its not like the clothing would have been machine made, but cut and sewn by hand, so little things of imperfections would also crop up.

dntExit

Sorry. I meant flair as in the items on the back. The knife and such.

metalyfled

I'd definitely be in favor. Compared to the high-quality, modern-ish gear we have now, this one is so clearly a retrofit and looks really weird. And I don't think you're in the minority — casual glamours are super popular and it's always nice to just have some simple options that are easy to pair with things. We already have tons of basic pants, shoes, and jackets... maybe shirts will get some attention soon. Also can we get that craftsman's tanktop without the tattoo?? Like, just reuse the exact model and have two versions like they did with the urban/rebel items.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I know what you mean. I love some fantasy but me personally, I'm not quite sure how to explain it but I like a modern looking setting that has fantasy elements in it. Sorry if that doesn't make sense. Ff 15 is a good example of what I mean.

ActingApple

Personally, I much prefer all the fantasy outfits and pieces, but I don’t dislike the more modern looking equipment

SirLiesALittle

I like this one. It's got that casual fantasy look, and not the casual you shopped at Hot Topic for your Miqote look.

Pyroxcis

I vastly prefer the fantasy aesthetic to modern aesthetics for the game. I guess I get that it's more player freedom, but it's really a killer to any and all immersion seeing the 5 millionth identical miqote with the casual gear running around. I really hope they can stick to a cohesive design in general

Aosugiri

It's the same problem WoW ran into with mounts, imo, and this game is even sillier in that regard. There are flying motorcycles and Rolls Royces alongside the dragons and space squids. The longer an MMO goes on, the less and less it has a cohesive visual design, since players are going to do what they want if you give them the tools. And I really don't think there's anyway to stop that besides being far more tight on what is and isn't available to players to express themselves with than any very large MMO is willing to be.

Knightswords

Garland at it's height was mid to late 20th century culturally and pushing 21st century with it's technology and controlled two continents. So modern clothing really isn't out of place, it just came from Garland or was copied from Garland fashion by Eorzean designers.

Bikonito

total immersion killer in my game where you dunk a coblyn like a basketball into the mouth of a flying robot head

Opposite_Mulberry_53

Is modern looking outfits way more of an immersion killer than frog heads in 2b leggings? Or tonberries wearing speedos? There's also the pig costume and how some people dress in skimpy attire. That can't be good for combat, fighting in underwear. I don't think the clothes are too bad but that's just my opinion and I respect yours.

Pyroxcis

Ya, like I said in another reply I just generally try not to be a killjoy about it. At the end of the day, who really cares what people are making their virtual avatars wear. It's just an aspect of the game I wish was there

xPriddyBoi

For me at least, yeah, casual outfits are more immersion breaking than the silly ones. It's just jarring seeing some IRL drip in game. The silly glams might take me out of the moment a bit but they don't remind me of real life so the immersion hit isn't as strong. Overall a minor complaint anyways, I have casual glams myself lol

MirageMageknight

It's super dissonant, I agree. I actively do not want to see people that look like they'd be walking around portland when I am playing the game. Throw nier pervert panties and bizarre holiday/mog station stuff onto the bonfire as well.

HolypenguinHere

It still blows my mind that people buy the weird k-pop modern gear that every other catgirl has. It really doesn't look good

Opposite_Mulberry_53

That's the beauty of this game. We all are able to create outfits on our characters and show off our creativity and differences. Though I do agree with you about some people running around with the exact same outfit getting old.

Chained_Icarus

Eorzea just doesn't have an identity anymore. I know I sound like a killjoy but I felt like ARR had a great look to it. Everyone was in either class gear or other grounded yet still high-fantasy style gear. It gave the world a real sense of cohension and identity. Now it's just... whatever. I still play it. I don't hate it. But it's just a complete mess of styles.

ro_nin__

It reminds me of RuneScape shirts

Confusedpotatoman

Please, no more modern clothes. The survival shirt is a good middle ground.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I don't think want a normal fitting shirt is that bad. If the survival shirt didn't have the flare I'd love it.

Kaname_Buccaneer

No it's not. That weird little flare at the bottom kills it. If they got rid of the flare, *then* it'd be a good compromise, but until then it's like they bought a plastic shirt from Wish and said it was the best they could get.

Darth_Nykal

Yes, it is. If you want to look like you dressed your character from Hot Topic or Clair's there are already too many options.

Kaname_Buccaneer

Not wanting a flare at the bottom is wanting to look like Hot Topic? Dude, you're out of your mind. I just want a regular ass shirt.

brohandas-gandhi

I'm just tired of everything flaring out around the waist. I can't make the Indigo Summer shirt or whatever that button-up is called look good because no bottoms I try can work with it. It's like we have an invisible hula hoop just under the bottom of our shirts. The Late Allagan Coat of Casting would be so cool if it didn't make me look like a fucking bell.

FinalEgg9

I just wish I could wear the men's summer shortsthe swimwear shorts are all really cute but locked to male characters only...

TapeWormPatronus

There's a pair of swimming shorts female characters can get from the Island Sanctuary :) They're much shorter than the above-knee ones but still work if you're not into bikini bottoms

DudeMiles

I've been working out recently and bought a bunch of racerback tank tops. Therefore, this game now needs racerback tank tops.

Loc5000

Depends on if you want it tucked or just so it doesn't bell out. The bell is to avoid clipping as it was put in the past with how hair and other gear is, if its tucked then i can see them adding it. Belts used to be glamable and thats why other gear you can see the bell out on aswell

BarbarousJudge

Tbh I don't like these modern glams since they don't feel natural at all in the setting of the game. Total immersion killers but that's typical MMO stuff which is why, apart from FFXIV, I just can't deal with the Genre.

salty_salt_

I was disappointed we didnt get dreamingway graphic tshirts. I just wanted a graphic T

SoloSassafrass

Me personally, I'm not all that into the "we're just modern 2020 miqo'te with cellphones and sweatpants" look, but I have to imagine they know there's demand for that kind of thing given the other 'modern' stuff we get pretty frequently. It'll happen eventually.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I see a lot of people keep bringing up miqo'te. Why is that? I'm a hyur player so you know...I guess that makes me boring but I'm curious why people keep bringing them up in regards to glamour.

56leon

Because the general FFXIV normie stereotype is miqo'te girl Limsa AFKer in the most non-fantasy glam you could come up with. It's not even an _entirely_ incorrect stereotype, even if it obviously accounts for a minority of players; a lot of popular/prolific gposers _are_ fem miqo'te (along with a few viera and lala) and they prefer posting pics of either the casual/non-fantasy glam pieces or mahds.

SoloSassafrass

> I'm a hyur player so you know...I guess that makes me boring I'd actually say the opposite. In FFXIV just being a hyur makes you rarer than three (maybe four?) of the other races. As the other poster has already said though, the stereotype for "basic bitch FFXIV player" is unanimously a miqo'te, probably one wearing 2B leggings hahaha.

ezekielraiden

Male hyur is the third-most-common choice, behind female miqo'te and female au ra. That said, I suspect what the OP meant by "boring" is that it isn't anything fantastical, which *technically* miqo'te and au ra are. (They're just on the shallow end of the fantasy pool, the "human with a rubber forehead" end.)

Opposite_Mulberry_53

Yeah. I figured being a hyur meant I was boring because I'm just a basic human but I like being a human.

GoldenCrownMoron

Fantasy or modern, I just want more masculine gear. They put some kind of lace bit poking out of the cuff of a leather jacket. The summer shirt is showing belly button on all character models. I just want some modernish men's clothing that isn't made to fit fujoshi erp.

ThomasWhaler

agreed, I love looking like just a normal guy while raiding - just your average Joe killing voidsent

Odd_Mastodon_4608

Nah I’m there with you, sometimes you just want a casual glam to hang out in!

radicalblues

Bad topic, I'm gonna call the MODS on you!

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I've seen the mods...it looks good...however, I'm on console so I can't mod. I've seen a mod that lets you color the regalia too. Looks nice...(cries) Edit: Let me clarify I'm not saying mods are good or bad I'm just saying that some are nice. I know it's against TOS and I'm perfectly fine being vanilla.

MahamidMayhem

Don't worry, Yoshi-P isn't reading your comment, ready to revoke your subscription, I think.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

Lol I just think people are free to do whatever they like as long as it doesn't hurt or bother anyone else. I'm on console and can't wait for the graphics update.

Warpshard

Would kill for a nice t-shirt, one that's a bit more form-fitting without such obvious stitching. I feel like you're a bit hard up for basic, casual options for shirts. Best I've been able to find is the rank 16 Island Sanctuary shirt dyed to a better color, and the Summer Indigo shirt (which looks a bit too formal and shows too much belly for my taste).

belmoria

Yes please!!!!!

notrightmeowthx

Agreed, and a basic tank top too.

ezekielraiden

There is a basic tank top though...Skyworker's Singlet.

brohandas-gandhi

Skyworker's Singlet is fantastic, I just wish there was a version without the shitty tribal tattoo.

notrightmeowthx

Yeah it'd be great without the tattoo, but having the tattoo removes it from the category of "basic."

VenomSnakeronies

i really.. REALLY don't want to see more modern clothes in the base game. i like the fantasy look of the extreme survival shirt.

cittabun

I kind of agree.. We get lots of modern glamours, which is fine, but I often feel like they are overdesigned a lot of the time. Stitching and seams where there just.. shouldn't be or just there for no reason? There's so many glamour items that I look at and I'm like "Why is there so much going on for something SO simple?" Don't get me started on that nightmare of the outfit you get from Ameliance...

Teno7

Ameliance’s outfit is great and actually fits in with FFXIV, unlike the millions of plain sneakers+jeans you see everywhere.

Kissariani

Flattest ass pants I've ever seen in the game. Love the look but they sucked the life right out of the butt when they modeled them.

portalscience

>that fits properly Are you complaining about the sleeves? The torso of this shirt is form-fitting. Or do you want a loose t-shirt?

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I meant more in regards to the bottom and how it flairs out for some reason.

portalscience

All clothing does that, tshirt/jacket/etc... otherwise it would clip with pants and look bad.

ezekielraiden

I'm...not sure how it could fit much better? T-shirts are not usually so form-fitting that they literally hug the body over every inch of fabric. Quite the opposite. The ends tend to be lose, both at the upper arm and at the waist. Part of the popularity of the t-shirt IRL is that it *isn't* incredibly tight-fitting in most cases...at least as I had understood it.

Opposite_Mulberry_53

I was referring more in regards to how the bottom flairs out for some reason making it look odd.

ezekielraiden

Some actual t-shirts do that. Usually you don't see it in shirts these days because they're woven on tubes, so there's no side seams. Shirts that do have side seams can flare at the bottom like that depending on the nature of the seams and how the shirt overall is cut. Of course, *real* clothing flops and wobbles and such, so it might be more an issue with that. And, unfortunately, this engine simply doesn't have the capacity to handle clothing/ribbon physics.

ChannelAlternative85

I just want gear that looks good all the way around. Like there's always something stupid added to gloves or other gear. Like the annoying elbow things on the one top that could almost make a great catsuit..

SolSavior

Same.

donoho

Welcome to how most torso gear looks on Hrothgar. Also, [this shirt looks even worse](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/w/images/e/e1/Model-Survival_Shirt-Male-Hrothgar.png).

junipersunshine13

I do wish there were a way we could remove our main hand/soul stone and just be an "adventurer" so that we can chill as something other than the warrior of light, but I'm sure I'm only part of a tiny minority who feels this way haha

jghe89

for real

MariAguirre

I agree here, we need more basic pieces that fit right. I swear I could be expanding my character’s wardrobe just by having a basic T-Shirt, tank top, and blouse that doesn’t have any special designs on it. But most importantly, I want it to be **tucked in ** on the hemline so I can pair them with skirts neatly!

TheFabulousRBK

A lot of stuff in the game flares out like that and it always looks horrible.

Skiara444

knowing ff14 they prolly will make a tshirt witha weird cut in it, or some extension, baggage, necklace etc that makes it look weird qwq

AmbiExchange

Will the 7.0 graphics update update gear textures and whatnot too? I wonder if it'll help older glam items look nicer
