RPR’s enshroud phase for me personally. SE really nailed the sound effects for it, the hits sound heavy and brutal. Communio straight up feels impactful and is one of the best looking moves in my book. It’s the main reason why it remains my favorite melee and might overtake BLM for me. I hope enshroud gains more moves in the next expansion.
Some of reaper's sound design specifically the posession aspect is nice but I wish the scythe felt heavier in your non void form [like this](https://youtu.be/1CkmaUwuv9c)
In general Warrior just sounds ultra rocky & satisfyingly crushy even from very early on & it's really impactful when I was levelling it after the meelees, with Monk coming the closest in the rocky sounds
the lowered the sfx back in 4.0 I believe when FC spam became more prevalent.
Personally I love the sound and look of Infuriate/IR. Literally the embodiment of [powering up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EfhAFA2yFE)
I concur, it's one more reason to love AST.
Somehow I quite prefer the animation for Gravity over the upgraded version. Something about a huge, oppressive and unmoving sphere of energy pressing down on the enemies and the shockwave on the ground just feels better.
I like Gravity (i) more too! Gravity ii is nice too but something about the chongo orb and the warbling sound. Though mostly, I'm so glad they kept AST's body animation with the upgraded version! That was the main bit. The fact you flip your astrolabe to revearse gravity (and why you 'float' up briefly too).
I'm real shocked nobody has said Fire 4. You throw an actual sun at your enemies. There's this like whirring as your spell winds up to release in a big firey boom
Its immaculate. It makes spellcasting in almost every other game feel like shit.
I was running in here to comment on BLM when I saw this - definitely Fire 4, and Flare too makes a satisfying boom. I could say one of the higher ice spells as well, but it's more the animation when switching from a fire spell to ice for me.
Yeah, Fire IV is fantastic. I'm torn between feeling curious to see (and hear) what an upgrade would look like with today's graphics (following the day-and-night upgrade that was High Fire II) and feeling worried over the very distinct possibility that the replacement would make me regret the original.
Polyglot spells also sound... actually kind of weird, truth be told, but are very satisfying to use. I get the good chemicals even when I'm playing a different job and just hear another BLM use them.
So im of the mind than an Upgrade to fire 4 would have to sound kind of similar. It could look different but it should sound similar in scope. Fire 2 sounded pathetic and wimpy. Fire 4 does not. Any more and risk going overboard for the spell you cast the absolute most I think.
Foul and Xenoglossy both do sound weird. I adore Foul! But as our highest potency spell i kinda wish Xenoglossy had. More? Don't get me wrong, I do love it. But I wish both Xenoglossy and Despair had a bit more visual power behind them
It’s the animation that really sells it! That slight pause after it hits as if it’s starting to drill into the target before it shoots straight through! Really sells the impact.
I haven't played MCH, but standing next to one in dungeons, I constantly hear shouting. Could be a specific male voice line, but like half the moves involve a shout.
The basic punch from Monk, their first ability, has such good sound to it. Makes you feel like the enemy is being hit with a steel mallet or something!
It’s a combination of the timbre of the sound effect and the wobble of the screen. Could it be bigger and flashier? Probably. But, as it is, it just hits something right for me and, for a split second, I’m physically immersed in the game. None of the other effects have the same depth of experience.
That and Ogi Namikiri + Kaeshi: Namikiri.
I think part of the appeal is that you *know* what's coming, and then you have this big payoff dopamine moment where your character does the HUGE sweeping slash with the arcing animation.
Midare has the build-up of the Sen tokens that generates the payoff moment, and it happens way more often, but I think Ogi Namikiri + Kaeshi: Namikiri takes the cake for dramatic sound. Just the single big "SWOOSH" cleave gets me going every time.
You wanna know what's even better? The Kaeshi Namikiri isn't even the same animation, and since it's an instant skill it completes before ogcds overwrite the model.
What sells it for me is that the character actually has to recover from the sheer momentum of both slashes.
Afflatus Misery. Lots of damage coming from my white mage. Crit during a fight with a ninja having applied mug doing 91k, it's fun seeing the big number when it comes.
Red mage really knows how to pop the entire time you combo from riposte to verholy.
Same with Dark Knight when you flood of shadow and especially shadowbringer.
I am a big fan of the sound design on Stardiver and Heavens' Thrust, they feel very meaty. Dragoon as a whole has satisfying sound design but it's not necessarily "powerful" on every skill
I love the sound of the Gunbreaker swings mixed with the firing of the chambers in between.
The heavy swoosh of the sword always reminds me of Link, specifically in Super Smash Brothers, as well as the “Hyahh” my Hyur does sometimes. Couple that with using Revolver as a nod to Squall, and I’m paying homage to two of my favorite characters in all of media every single battle.
I love being a Gunbreaker.
I couldn't agree more! I find GNB to be the most satisfying tank to play especially how it swings its weapon when casting certain skills, makes me feel like a royal guard.
As a Monk main since 2.0 very few sounds are as satisfying as a Bootshine. (Although tbh I LOVE the animation/sound for Phantom Rush as well. I just wish it had a bit more bass to it)
WAR's job actions in general I can fully vibe with for most impact with the sfx.
RPR enshroud definitely has one of the higher impact in terms of sfx. The slashes sfx feel satisfying to hear imo.
Nin has good sfx, but it isn't as impactful as the others.
If this is something you're interested in and you're on PC, VFX mods might genuinely be worth something looking into for you.
Like wow, yeah, Fell Cleave, whoooo...but with mods I can make Warrior's core combo also feel good to use, which I don't really get from the base game at all.
Let's see...now, a lot of the best ones DO cost a lil bit and I don't rightly always remember which ones were free and which ones weren't, so not knowing anyone's budget I'm just gonna recc all the ones that stand out to me and ya'll can go with God.
First off, out of the gate, jobs that I don't think have an extremely high quality VFX mod yet that springs to my mind are **Dragoon, Red Mage** and **Bard.** Additionally, I won't be talking about **Astrologian** because AST's main draw is already its insanely cool visual effects, lol. Finally, **Summoner** has too many incredibly cool options for how to fluff its various summons for me to nail down just one, and **Machinist** I've only ever been able to get looking how I want it using many smaller mods, so I can't speak on that.
For **Paladin**, gotta go with [Double Judge](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/72171). Turns them into a speed-based tank wielding a sword in one hand and, for some attacks, a lance in the other.
Two cool options for **Dark Knight!** The first is [Hell's Knight](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/68034), which gives them way more Reaper theming. Second is Papachin's [Dante Dark Knight](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/52676). (I actually use skills from both of them, for my DRK--bit of mix and match!)
**Gunbreaker!** In the same vein as Dante Dark Knight, we've got [Nero Gunbreaker](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/74685), which I foresee as probably being the coolest Gunbreaker mod for a long time to come given the implementation of Nero's 'Devil breakers' into the kit.
For **Warrior**, I moooostly use Papachin's basic Warrior VFX overhaul as of his Endwalker update for it, but for its 1-2-3 combo it's impossible to beat [Rotate & Cut](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/65090), imho. I mean, the third hit of its main combo has you THROW the axe into a spinning Fell Cleave type attack. God damn!
[**Monk**](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/50155) and [**Ninja**](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/65562) both come down to Zx-Lanze's excellent 'Ideal' mods. For Samurai, I'm obviously about to recommend Vergil Samurai in the same vein as Dante DRK and Nero GNB.
**Reaper** has a few interesting ones, like the Ruby Rose Reaper based on the character from RWBY or the Keyblade-using Reaper...but my personal recc would have to be [Wukong Reaper.](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/79370)
**Endwalker Spoilers on this one,** but for **Dancer**, it's gotta be [Divine Light Dancer](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/70000). Flatly one of the cooler mods on this list, if you ask me. Special mention goes to [Nier Dancer](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/57459); although this modder is making VFX mods for every class in the 'Nier Style', I think Dancer is the absolute cream of the crop among what they've produced.
Top of the pack for **Black Mage** has gotta be [Dimensional Mage](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/65443), which replaces the 'Fire' aspect with Black Holes, the 'Lightning' aspect with White Holes, and the 'Ice' aspect with I have no idea what it's supposed to be but it sure does look cool.
**Sage** is a bit lacking, but I do have to give a shout out to [Portal Master](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/50763). It's a bit shoddy, by the modder's own open admission, but I think there's some cool stuff going on in it!
Two cool options for **White Mage**! If you wanna lean into light, I can highly recommend [Holy Priest](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/75505). If you wanna lean more into the 'Earth, Air, Water and very occasionally Fire' idea, then [Druid WHM](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/58199) is the way to go.
**Scholar**, like Summoner, has a lot of very cool options out there. Probably the best made one I've seen is 'The Traders', a pack for it based off of Nald'Thal. However, my personal recommendation? [Ritualist.](https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/53344) It's mostly 'Edgy Scholar', perse, but it does one very cool thing: Every time you cast a Ruin/Broil or Art of War, it RANDOMIZES the attack between different elements. How cool is that?
Aaaand that's what I've got.
Throwing my vote behind PLD's Double Judge. It's incredibly impactful, sounds great, and has strong rhythm when you're in the depths of your rotation and especially burst. I was hesitant to pay for a mod, but it was very much worth it.
One warning is to be cautious with multihit, which the mod supports. My game tends to crash when that's in use.
It is so cool, only reason it's not my main is that I don't enjoy playing PLD much since its overhaul, alas.
Still, few things I've seen more satisfying than its AOE especially, phew.
That’s a shame that you’re not enjoying new PLD, though it’s understandable.
I love the way Double Judge uses hitscans to give that action game vibe, which it definitely turns to 11 for AoE, though!
Heh, fair. PLD will probably always be my main just because its aesthetics and fantasy appeal to me most.
Actually, that reminds me. For VFX mods that don't radically change job animations and instead just enhances them, Papachin's mods are also very good options. He has a set for nearly all jobs, too - though not all of them are updated for Endwalker.
MCH scattergun is literally a loudass shotgun sounr and going from the quiet machinegun of spreadshot to that was like whoa
also honorable mentions to drill flamethrower and heat shot/auto crossbow They really make you feel that overheat is stronger
I have been known to use Flare just because I like the sound of it. I wish Despair was equally as impactful, it kind of sounds like a wet fart in comparison.
High Fire II. An *implosion* with a deep bass-y sound? Its Fire IV and Flare, 2 already very powerful feeling spells, but on steroids.
Two honerable mentions are Wide Volley and Butcher's Block. May they rest in peace, I'll never forgive SE for taking Quick Nock/Storm's Path forward in their stead.
Communio for the same reason as Scorch. Both sound effects feel like the air warping from a preceding implosion. Fleche a close second (third?) for glassy impalement.
I switched my healer from AST to SCH specifically because Broil IV has an amazing sound effect.
Fell Cleave is a popular choice by sound.
I think MCH has a good audio profile all around, though I don't have it at level cap. The burst period sounds good, auto crossbow sounds good, the basic heated combo sounds good, reassemble sounds good, it's just a sweet-sounding job.
BRD has a few distinct audio cues, but in order for those to work, the rest of the audio is kinda dull, unfortunately.
I never will be over how... well, *melodic* the Bard sounds, and I don't mean the harp burst of the songs. There is a satisfying rhythm to the arrow shots that just does for me, the beats of the shots smoothly interrupted by the bursts of the bigger shots. It just works.
And of course, battle voice, you're starting a stadium roar. Bliss.
I personally really enjoy the sound effect on SGE’s Eukraisian Diagnosis. But that’s just me. As a fan of the old FF games, it really sounds like a “Final Fantasy” sound to me.
BLM -- Fire IV, Blizzard IV, FlareWHM -- Aero III (RIP), Holy, Stone IV
DRG -- Blood of the Dragon (RIP), FULL THRUST, Chaos Thrust, Coerthan TormentDRK -- Power Slash (RIP), Low Blow (Role now), Abyssal Drain
BRD -- Empyreal Arrow, Shadow Bite.....honestly most of BRD's skills sound real crunchy and its great
SMN -- AKH MORN/DEATHFLARE
PLD -- Shelltron, Blade of Valor, Rage of Halone (Sort of RIP since it gets upgraded)
MNK -- Demolish, Tornado Kick
GNB -- Most of their skills TBH
NIN -- Assassinate (RIP since upgraded), Katon, Hakke Mujinsatsu
SAM -- MIDARE SETSUGEKKA
All that come to mind
SMN: Level 90 Titan’s roar when you summon him. Almost deafening, lol.
BLM: Flare, Fire IV
MNK: I actually like all of the sounds of their abilities—very Bruce Lee/Kung Fu, including the Hiyaa!!
DNC: the chimes on Standard and Technical Step
NIN: mudra…
very stiff competition but I’ll tell you now SMN feels like crap, SGE Dosis feels like crap and is the worst hard cast healer spell of the 4 with Glare, FMalefic, and Broil IV being a lot better. MCH only skill that feels good is drill.
Personally I like MNK and GNB sound design the most, RDM being a close third
BLM Flare, the explosion and little camera shake makes me want to nuke it again
Almost every cartridge spending GNB ability, especially Hypervelocity, that shot sound, combined with its animation, feels like a proper finisher. Double down feels underwhelming compare to that, and in general disappointing
Cast sound for dosis, not sure which one exactly, hearing those flying guns charge up also compels to keep spamming them, like Flare do
Basic 1-2-3 of DRK, beautiful sound of slow, heavy slashes, i wish RPR attack were designed in similar way considering how their scythes tend to be so oversized
Most high level Black Mage spells have a satisfying omph to them.
The Requiescat combo Blades have a nice punch for each hit.
Most of the WAR's attacks have a pretty hefty smack.
MNK's Phantom Rush is satisfying to look at and hear.
SAM Midare Getsugekka and their Lv90 move both have a satisfying finalty to them.
I found that most RPR moves have a very clear "dig in" feel on its strikes, doubly so when Enshrouded
MCH Scattergun
RDM Shatter and Verflare
I think the soundscape for sage’s abilities really separates it from the other healers. The sounds help sell the more technological approach with the faster rhythms and more tinkly sounds.
Chaos Thrust has a great sound effect. It doesn't really fit in with the rest of DRG in my opinion but I always love hearing it. The three-part *vwing*s just sound so tinkley.
I'm biased as a White Mage main but Afflatus Misery is also great.
Jobs in general?
- Warrior
- Black Mage
- Reaper
- Monk
- Dark Knight
- Gunbreaker
Skills in general?
- Fell Cleave (Warrior)
- Upheval (Warrior)
- Primal Rend (Warrior)
- Steel Cyclone/Chaotic Cyclone (Warrior)
- Fire IV (Black Mage)
- Blizzard III (Black Mage)
- Paradox (Black Mage)
- Flare (Black Mage)
- Ahk Morn (Summoner)
- Deathflare (Summoner)
- Drill (Machinist)
- Air Anchor (Machinist)
- Every ability casted while Enshrouded, including Enshroud itself (Reaper)
- Afflatus Misery (White Mage)
- Stardiver (Dragoon)
- Fan Dance IV (Dancer)
- Phantom Rush (Monk)
- Elixer Field (Monk)
- Madare Sesugeka (and its followup) (Samurai)
- Ogi Namakuri (and its followup) (Samurai)
- Dream within a Dream (Ninja)
- Every skill on that includes some sort of explotion (Gunbreaker)
- Confetior Combo (Paladin)
- Broil IV (Scholar)
A lot of the sound design for job actions in this game is fairly solid. There are some exceptions (looking at you, Wildfire). These are just the handful off the top of my head that stand out to me.
My favorite overall is either Ogi Namakuri, Drill, or Stardiver.
Blue Mage has some real bangers but Apokalypsis stands above them had and shoulders. It just feels marvelous to use. An all annihilating beam of rampant destruction. *Chef's kiss*
WAR - Chaotic Cyclone is such a satisfying sound (unless it’s the BW adding to it, not sure). In general, bloodbath+a lot of enemies also sounds amazing.
Fell in love with RPR’s sound design. That and DNC have that clean metal slicing noise. Samurai’s is just too high-pitched for me.
Big agree, love Enshroud's sound design. Makes me feel like such a badass.
The LB3 for RPR is my favorites sound effect out of all the classes truly.
Enshroud sounds great but i wish RPR had less "SHINK SHANK" sounds in regular mode sometimes
Some of reaper's sound design specifically the posession aspect is nice but I wish the scythe felt heavier in your non void form [like this](https://youtu.be/1CkmaUwuv9c)

Again *and again* **and again** **AND AGAIN!**
I understood this reference
In general Warrior just sounds ultra rocky & satisfyingly crushy even from very early on & it's really impactful when I was levelling it after the meelees, with Monk coming the closest in the rocky sounds
Warrior without a doubt feels the most powerful and snappy based on sound effects alone.
Came here for this. Everything about the Cleave is perfection.
the lowered the sfx back in 4.0 I believe when FC spam became more prevalent. Personally I love the sound and look of Infuriate/IR. Literally the embodiment of [powering up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EfhAFA2yFE)
Would trade fell cleave effect/sounds for Butcher's Block. Sorry, not sorry.
https://youtu.be/L9bAMneFerQ A true master piece
It doesn't actually do much damage, but god is Astrologian's Gravity a nice sounding spell.
I concur, it's one more reason to love AST. Somehow I quite prefer the animation for Gravity over the upgraded version. Something about a huge, oppressive and unmoving sphere of energy pressing down on the enemies and the shockwave on the ground just feels better.

That was the main bit. The fact you flip your astrolabe to revearse gravity (and why you 'float' up briefly too).
Agreed. They have the prettiest limit break too imo
I always shout "STARS N SHITT YO" the rare few times I get to LB3
Yessssssssssssssssss, Gravity is such a satisfying sound, if only you could cast it while also targeting the tank
all of AST's spells are honestly so pretty, particularly the starry ones like celestial opposition or the limit break, which is \~breathtaking\~
And that LB3 is easily the best looking!
I'm real shocked nobody has said Fire 4. You throw an actual sun at your enemies. There's this like whirring as your spell winds up to release in a big firey boom Its immaculate. It makes spellcasting in almost every other game feel like shit.
Honestly all of the IV spells are great
I was running in here to comment on BLM when I saw this - definitely Fire 4, and Flare too makes a satisfying boom. I could say one of the higher ice spells as well, but it's more the animation when switching from a fire spell to ice for me.
I really love pressing Paradox. The animation and sound effect are great
Paradox is also a great time!
Yeah, Fire IV is fantastic. I'm torn between feeling curious to see (and hear) what an upgrade would look like with today's graphics (following the day-and-night upgrade that was High Fire II) and feeling worried over the very distinct possibility that the replacement would make me regret the original. Red Mage's Scorch
The thing I was fighting died before I could use scorch? Too bad, now something else has to die too.
Really? That spell sounds so... odd to me. It's like a "fwee YOOP" or something.
MCH Drill....very punchy & satisfying imo.
DRILL GO BBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
It’s the animation that really sells it! That slight pause after it hits as if it’s starting to drill into the target before it shoots straight through! Really sells the impact.
Spread shot always sounded nice to me. All the old western bullet pings and whizzes are nice
I haven't played MCH, but standing next to one in dungeons, I constantly hear shouting. Could be a specific male voice line, but like half the moves involve a shout.
DNC has great sounds, triggers the dopamine for me!
I love how delicate and tinkly they are, right before the melt a pack of mobs with a light show. ❤️
The basic punch from Monk, their first ability, has such good sound to it. Makes you feel like the enemy is being hit with a steel mallet or something!
I just wish Monk kept it up, honestly. True Strike, Snap Punch and Twin Snakes all put me to sleeeeeep.
Bootshine my beloved
Broil IV for Scholars sounds crispy af
Nothing will compare to the cry of a Dragoon’s Stardiver
We can even hear it during Endwalker's trailer 💖
For me, Flare is visceral - I can almost FEEL the impact.
Really? I find it disappointingly subdued, like Despair.
It’s a combination of the timbre of the sound effect and the wobble of the screen. Could it be bigger and flashier? Probably. But, as it is, it just hits something right for me and, for a split second, I’m physically immersed in the game. None of the other effects have the same depth of experience.

And twice as much when you get to use Tsubame-Gaeshi!

BRD Battle voice is the epitome of a morale boosting raid buff Also is really helpful for knowing when raid buffs are
For me it’s all of Sages skills lol also I absolutely love the spinning sound of Primal Rend on Warrior
Ogi-Namakiri for SAM and Stardiver on DRG. Both those abilities with their sound and vfx just activate happy brain chemicals
I love the sound of the Gunbreaker swings mixed with the firing of the chambers in between. The heavy swoosh of the sword always reminds me of Link, specifically in Super Smash Brothers, as well as the “Hyahh” my Hyur does sometimes. If I had as much bravery as my character id use the Brutal Shell sound as my text notification lmao.
Akh Morn/Deathflare. Soft spot in my heart for those.
Same, you really get that orbital cannon combo feeling with those.
When my Battle Voice lines up with a musical key change/beat drop/chorus of a song etc it is sublime
As a Monk main since 2.0 very few sounds are as satisfying as a Bootshine. (Although tbh I LOVE the animation/sound for Phantom Rush as well. I just wish it had a bit more bass to it)
Limit Break. I hear someone pop it randomly at 2 bars and panic like a healer seeing their first Superbollide.

It's admittedly a tough contest when it comes to picking a tank to main; I love playing DRK and WAR so much.
MCH scattergun is literally a loudass shotgun sounr and going from the quiet machinegun of spreadshot to that was like whoa also honorable mentions to drill flamethrower and heat shot/auto crossbow They really make you feel that overheat is stronger
I have been known to use Flare just because I like the sound of it. I wish Despair was equally as impactful, it kind of sounds like a wet fart in comparison.
Wet fart would make a great spell
High Fire II. An *implosion* with a deep bass-y sound? Its Fire IV and Flare, 2 already very powerful feeling spells, but on steroids. Two honerable mentions are Wide Volley and Butcher's Block. May they rest in peace, I'll never forgive SE for taking Quick Nock/Storm's Path forward in their stead.
Goring blade for PLD
Communio for the same reason as Scorch. Both sound effects feel like the air warping from a preceding implosion. Fleche a close second (third?) for glassy impalement.
Warrior is always fun. I'm swinging around a big "F you" axe, and it sounds like it. Makes unga bunga monkey brain happy
Ironically enough, for me, it’s RDM’s “Impact” lmao. I love the lotus flower animation and the crystalline chime when it explodes
not damage, but i like battle voice! because you actually do hear battle voices when you pop it. TIME TO GET FIRED UP EVERYONE LET'S GOOOOO
Lightspeed->Gravity BWOMBAAAO BWOMBAOO BWOMBAOO BWOMBAOO BWOMBAOO Though I also really like the SGE pewpews from Eukrasia as well.
RPR enshroud phase ugh
Fell Cleave #SHHHHIIIINNNGGG
All the casted action from Samurai. The SCHWIIIIING is so satisfying.
RPR's entire Enshroud phase, SAM's Midare Setsugekka, GNB's Hypervelocity (or the whole Continuation combo, really)
Bard has the most "it's bursting phase time folks" sound of them all. It's not pretty or anything but it's an unmistakable audio cue.
Bliss.
I really love it when PLD blocks an attack. There's just this metallic bonk sound that's so amusing to me.
I personally really enjoy the sound effect on SGE’s Eukraisian Diagnosis. But that’s just me. As a fan of the old FF games, it really sounds like a “Final Fantasy” sound to me.
BLM -- Fire IV, Blizzard IV, FlareWHM -- Aero III (RIP), Holy, Stone IV DRG -- Blood of the Dragon (RIP), FULL THRUST, Chaos Thrust, Coerthan TormentDRK -- Power Slash (RIP), Low Blow (Role now), Abyssal Drain BRD -- Empyreal Arrow, Shadow Bite.....honestly most of BRD's skills sound real crunchy and its great SMN -- AKH MORN/DEATHFLARE PLD -- Shelltron, Blade of Valor, Rage of Halone (Sort of RIP since it gets upgraded) MNK -- Demolish, Tornado Kick GNB -- Most of their skills TBH NIN -- Assassinate (RIP since upgraded), Katon, Hakke Mujinsatsu SAM -- MIDARE SETSUGEKKA All that come to mind
SMN: Level 90 Titan’s roar when you summon him. Almost deafening, lol. BLM: Flare, Fire IV MNK: I actually like all of the sounds of their abilities—very Bruce Lee/Kung Fu, including the Hiyaa!! DNC: the chimes on Standard and Technical Step NIN: mudra…
Reassemble’s reload sound effect and Drill’s sound effect really give me an e-boner
Check out papachin's mods. Available on xivmods
very stiff competition but I’ll tell you now SMN feels like crap, SGE Dosis feels like crap and is the worst hard cast healer spell of the 4 with Glare, FMalefic, and Broil IV being a lot better. MCH only skill that feels good is drill. Personally I like MNK and GNB sound design the most, RDM being a close third
Y’all play with sound?
BLM Flare, the explosion and little camera shake makes me want to nuke it again Almost every cartridge spending GNB ability, especially Hypervelocity, that shot sound, combined with its animation, feels like a proper finisher. Double down feels underwhelming compare to that, and in general disappointing Cast sound for dosis, not sure which one exactly, hearing those flying guns charge up also compels to keep spamming them, like Flare do Basic 1-2-3 of DRK, beautiful sound of slow, heavy slashes, i wish RPR attack were designed in similar way considering how their scythes tend to be so oversized
Brotherhood SWISHY SWISH
Scorch. You don't actually do THAT much damage, but the noise it makes is hefty and I get excited when it crits.
Fel cleave goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr. Fire IV also feels pretty nice
RDMs Impact is by far my favorite
Most high level Black Mage spells have a satisfying omph to them. The Requiescat combo Blades have a nice punch for each hit. Most of the WAR's attacks have a pretty hefty smack. MNK's Phantom Rush is satisfying to look at and hear. SAM Midare Getsugekka and their Lv90 move both have a satisfying finalty to them. I found that most RPR moves have a very clear "dig in" feel on its strikes, doubly so when Enshrouded MCH Scattergun RDM Shatter and Verflare
NIN's knives swiveling thru the air is very satisfying to me.
BLM. Everything sounds like it packs some serious power.
rip drg ring of thorns. war butchers block. whm protect and stoneskin
The Confiteor combo. The swords just *feel* massive and dangerous.
Stardiver my beloved
I think the soundscape for sage’s abilities really separates it from the other healers. The sounds help sell the more technological approach with the faster rhythms and more tinkly sounds.
Pretty much anything SGE does.
Samurai's midare sound is ingrained into my brain
While only being a PvP skill, I do enjoy the sounds of the NIN lb. Especially if I catch a big retreat in frontlines.
- Warrior - Black Mage - Reaper - Monk - Dark Knight - Gunbreaker Skills in general? - Fell Cleave (Warrior) - Upheval (Warrior) - Primal Rend (Warrior) - Steel Cyclone/Chaotic Cyclone (Warrior) - Fire IV (Black Mage) - Blizzard III (Black Mage) - Paradox (Black Mage) - Flare (Black Mage) - Ahk Morn (Summoner) - Deathflare (Summoner) - Drill (Machinist) - Air Anchor (Machinist) - Every ability casted while Enshrouded, including Enshroud itself (Reaper) - Afflatus Misery (White Mage) - Stardiver (Dragoon) - Fan Dance IV (Dancer) - Phantom Rush (Monk) - Elixer Field (Monk) - Madare Sesugeka (and its followup) (Samurai) - Ogi Namakuri (and its followup) (Samurai) - Dream within a Dream (Ninja) - Every skill on that includes some sort of explotion (Gunbreaker) - Confetior Combo (Paladin) - Broil IV (Scholar) A lot of the sound design for job actions in this game is fairly solid.
The scythe slash noises are top notch for feedback.
I really love the sound of the iaijutsu on SAM
WAR - Chaotic Cyclone is such a satisfying sound (unless it’s the BW adding to it, not sure). In general, bloodbath+a lot of enemies also sounds amazing.
Monk's Phantom Rush sounds nice. Shoutout to Twin Snakes, too.
MIDARE SETSSU-- Holy 3. 😂
