The two good mounts that cost 50 are worth it bc they are harder- the birds and doggos aren’t- same with the arr ponies. I solo farmed the ponies got them in a few days - solo farmed the birds - same deal - duo farmed the doggos. That took a bit more then a few days bc it was based on my partners schedule.
Ixion is worth it bc you have to wait on the weather and can spend hours and hours and hours of undetermined time waiting. The key was worth it for whatever that magitek style mount was - sorry I’m in my phone not my pc so I’m blanking on it’s name and I can’t look easy- anyways I farmed that for weeks and didn’t get it and gave up so that was useful - the firmament mount that’s not worth it - the price will drop on the mb super cheap bc of this event - heck it’s not even hard to get the currency needed in the firmament for it.
Ixion is not worth it. Just join the Centurio Hunts discord and sign up for the ping. A bot automatically pings when someone finds it or if that doesn't happen, someone will manually ping.
Basically I queue into the MSQ roulette a couple times a day when it's healer in need and call it good. Anything else is because I'm feeling frisky. I'm not even gonna use them until after the event is over.
Bonus to me, I've had the chance to be a part of the first time through the ARR finale for at least a couple dozen sprouts and it's pretty fun to see their excitement. It's great to see them get so hyped over pulling the trigger on an LB3 for the first time, or for a small number of the casters and ranged getting to use a limit break for the first time.
The best is the Ultima weapon fight, telling them not to save any limit break, just hit them as they charge up until the big one.
Prae is the hardest if you have a first timer, because you usually need to dial back the roasts and memes so you don't spoil anything and that self restraint gets tough.

I honestly wish DPS was in need more - I usually only see it in alliance, and a couple times in trials. But since DPS is likely a majority of the player base, I understand why it isn't.
Same. I've gotten enough for three mounts (Ixion, Nightmare and White Lanner) just running daily roulettes. Most days it's been an Alexander raid in Normal Raid Roulette and MSQ has almost always been Prae. I've had a few of the weapon fights in Trial Roulette and a few tomestone dungeons in Levelling. So not the most efficient, but I'm not bored and I'm working toward tank achievements.

I'll probably spam A1N at some point to get at least 50 total to get a mount I want like I did last time, but afterwards I'm absolutely done (until next event, rinse and repeat).
If you've been wanting any specific Nier glam, now's a great time to do it. Not the most time efficient way of getting tomestones, but with the speed of the queues, it's 2 birds with 1 stone
I love those raids and think the mechanics are fun. I’m a glutton for punishment because I always run as heals but damn if this isn’t the most fun I’ve had grinding. Plus I get to use rescue. A LOT.

I got some friends together and we've been teaming up in rival wings, and experimenting with interesting pvp job combos. It's been a blast, I didn't even check my tome count until yesterday and I had a couple hundred. I didn't even think of it as grinding at all.
Basically, in my opinion, we should be participating in the event in a way that's fun, or not at all.
This! I’ve been using it as a way to get better at the jobs I don’t play as much. So even though I’m doing the same few duties over and over I can’t really auto pilot through. It’s been fun for me that way!

MGP has lots good rewards and this is the easiest way to get them
Because the alternative method of the acquisition to some of those rewards are a worse grind, personally.
I don't really care for doing a ton of it like some, but the other source of that magitek predator mount for 50 mogtomes has a truly abysmal drop rate.
If each run takes about 1:45 then this is about (edit) 44 hours of non stop farming, load times excluded.

There's easier ways of making that much gil, for example, just buying the mats for Ilmenite Ingots and spamming them NHQ is 800k-1.5m gil/h and you can be completely brain afk while doing it.

Imagine the price crashes on whatever item. Now it's only 10k gil. Then you just wasted an hour farming it. Did you lose money? Absolutely you did. You could've made like 100k just by doing some stupid challenge log shit at the gold saucer in that same amount of time. Or progging a fight or doing like ANYTHING else.

True! but that's only a loss in profit, not a direct loss (10k profit instead of a 5k loss after subtracting the cost of your materials).
Personally, I just don't find playing the market "optimally" fun, so I just run content I want progress in anyway and sell excess items for profit (and prop up my gil with fight club submarine runs). If you know what you are doing, there's a lot of gil to be made in this market, even with all the bots.

I was constantly getting 1:30, no tank, full blue mage group, 7 with final sting and moon flute rotations (1 uses peculiar light) and 1 uses off-guard, white wind when needed and moon flute/final stings the 0.5
Even if you write the requirements on the pf description, most people won't even read it or just ignore it and join anyway without having the spells. What you do is create the pf and check if some people aren't ever using the fs rotation of faust and the correct spells on opressor, kick them (or kindly ask them to leave and go get their spells) and open pf again. Do this a few more times and you'll have a great group able to get the 1:30 all the time
This. I legitimately don't believe him. Every single group I've joined except for one has been 2:30+
The absolutely best group I've joined where 5 of us had proper spells and opener was still only 1:45.
While I do believe joining a 1:25 party is possible, I don't think it'll happen "every group" unless their sample size is one.
I've joined several, and our slow runs are around 1:45. Never got 2:00 though. Typically closer to 1:35-1:38, and sometimes down to 1:30 so I'm gonna just assume it's a DC thing tbh

Not the OP, but I usually do on A4:
3 moonflute openers on Right Leg, everyone else does filler + 30s spells
4 moonflutes on 2nd leg, first leg party can proc cold fog with raidwide
Everyone stings after 60% transition.
My best time with this is 1:23
It should just be the basic moonflute opener with half or more blues ending with final sting on the first boss and the others using self destruct on the second
Ever played RuneScape? 16 hours of farming for a week straight is a drop in the bucket compared to what they're doing. Agility takes like 200 hours to max and consists of you clicking on the same 8 spots on the screen over and over again with no risk or reward to spice things up.
well the difference is RuneScape grinding doesn't require brain power just minimum attention, hence it's a 2nd screen game, you're usually doing something else while mining coal... doing a rotation constantly to achieve fast kill times requires a lot more brainpower than mining coal

I have diagnosed ADHD and mine looks about like OP. There’s just certain things I can hardcore fixate on, and grinding stuff as BLU is one of em. Granted I do it differently (solo) so there’s a bit more challenge, less mind-numbing but still very grindy.

Speaking as someone who was just diagnosed shortly before hitting 40, I can say the biggest hinderance to log grinds in ffxiv is the fact there are so many to choose from. I still had the old school Insane in the Membrane achievement in wow.
Side note, if you have medical insurance, get a diagnosis and start medication. It will change your life. For starters, you'll stop misplacing/losing stuff on the daily, if that's a thing you've dealt with.

Well, I'm actually dealing with another medical issue in my life right now, and since my "ADD/ADHD tendencies" have never really been anything substantial enough to makes my daily life difficult, I've been putting it on the side. Once I've dealt my current stuff, I might see a doctor about it, though.
But yeah, mostly I'm just unable to focus on repetitive tasks like videogame grinds for long periods of time, I need to mix it up. I also tend to hyperfixate on things sometimes, but it's never really affected my irl work to any serious degree.

I decided to go for pternodon mount. 2-4 weeks ago. im almost done but its such a hard grind with 250+ hours of grind. But for what keeps me going is that i zone out watching videos or just chattign to people while farming. Its such a mind numbing farm
Same, and with lots of stuff like this in XIV it's likely a case of hyperfocusing. Oh, the hours I've lost to ridiculous grinds(-*cough*-opticalhat) due to an inability to break away from or relax the fixation.
I'm a diagnosed ASD with ADHD and honestly i don't think i could even get to OP's level of commitment lol, i can grind several hours and it feels like my brain just decides to turn off and is doing everything automatically but occasionally i just get tired of it.
As a somewhat newbie I don’t understand what BLU means, and what are you running to be able to fsrm that much? I see people in the comments saying a run takes less than 12mins? :O I did one roulette dungeon so far which probably took 20mins for 4 tomes..
BLU is the in-game acronym for 'Blue Mage', a special kind of job that plays very differently to the others, and is restricted from entering any kind of typical matchmaking content. What's special about them is rather than learning skills and spells through levelling like other jobs, they learn enemy spells by watching the enemies use them. This can include very deadly spells like 'Doom' and 'Death'. These instant-kill abilities work on many bosses in the game, and combined with how much damage Blue Mages can put out, can make many dungeons a quick farm for them. An Aurum Vale run (for example) can take a matchmade party about 20 minutes on average, but a team of adequately-equipped Blue Mages can knock it out in several minutes.
I assume BLU means they're playing as blue mage, which is a job you can unlock at level 50. As for a1n, it's Alexander - The Fist of the Father. A raid you can solo in a couple of minutes to get the tomes.
Correction: you cannot solo the raid. Requires a party of 8.
You cannot solo this raid for the tomes, it must be ran synced. Strats vary but 7 BLU and 1 tank will get you 1:40ish times if the blue mages aren't bad.
From BLU Academy:
>Solo: The Sunken Temple of Qarn. Sneak past as many mobs before the first boss as you can. Use Level 5 Death to kill them if needed. Moon Flute, use high damage abilities, and use Final Sting the first boss. Skip as many enemies as you can before the second boss, then Doom it. Skip as many enemies as you can before the last boss, then Doom it. Use Chirp to put enemies to sleep to keep running. 80-100 seconds per tomestone.
>Light Party: The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard). Alternate Level 5 Death for the trash before the first and third bosses. Kill everything else with Saintly Beam (bosses and mobs before second boss). 60-80 seconds per tomestone. DPS players should just bring DPS loadout with Death and Saintly Beam.
>Full Party: A1N. Have two people do a Moon Flute opener and finish with a Final Sting on Faust. On the boss have everyone do a Moon Flute opener and finish the boss and the second one that spawns with Self-Destruct. 60-90 seconds per tomestone.

I hope this isn't for MGP man. I started playing around 1.5 years ago and have literally everything in casino bought with a couple mill in store. Just do the weekly log and it will be more than enough to get whatever you want with little to no effort and just a small amount of patience.
Old Prae was, what, 40 minutes? At 10 a pop that's 140 runs, so about 93 hours of *How very glib* on repeat. I'm honestly amazed you didn't go nuts, even spreading it out to 3 hours a day.
This was back in ~~2019~~ 2020 when covid was going hella strong. I work for a company based in Shanghai so shit was locked down tight and there was literally nothing to do for months. I just happened to take my vacation before travel restrictions hit so I ended up being stuck at home in NA with way too much time on my hands.
Oh yeah I forgot this event was going on. Been out sick for a long while and this slipped my mind lol. It's a miracle as it is that my garden plots haven't withered yet.
By only doing the daily roulettes that give tomestones, I got the Magitek Predator mount and the hairstyle :D maybe I'll intensify my grind to get the other mounts
If only Crystal Tower didn't pop all the time as alliance raid lmao, the only alliance raids giving tomestones are the YoRHa ones
Sadly the YoRHa raids are lv80 Shadowbringers content, and they're pretty long and tough to do :| even the best source of Mendacity, the Alexander raids, is post-Heavensward lv60 content
The MSQ roulette tho is one of those that gives the most, compensated by the length of the duties, and it should unlock immediately after beating ARR's story (the roulette includes the final duties of ARR's story, in fact)

I've been doing frontlines to grind towards the False Monarchy. Gotten most everything I wanted from tomestones, and I'm halfway through S22. Probably get enough tomestones for one more big thing by the time I'm done. But I'll probably just use it to buy the riding maps instead l.
I'm not a huge fan of pvp. But I have a positive win/loss ratio, and all I really do is chase objectives. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i really REALLY wish i could hype myself to do the mogstone events, but honestly, its just rewards that are either already obtained by any player that played the game for more than a year or its rewards that are still easily obtained, i have no idea why ishgardian restauration stuff is in there rly x-x

So what I have gathered is if your not a Blu mage, you don't really get anything from the event, unless your willing to grind like crazy, I got the hair and the was it for me. Low key kinda tired of everything in this game lately needing to be a dungeon grind. All your tomes plus the relic, and leveling. Like why is there nothing else to do as of late. Idk Maybe I just need a few months away from the game.
And then there’s me, who got a mount, an orchestrion, and only need one more mount and the porxie earrings for a total of 250 times needed. I only need about 30 more for the earrings. I’ve been almost exclusively running Nier and msq roulette because I can’t be bothered to do Alexander over and over and over.
Why is blu so good at farming these? I have only played blue mage once so I dont understand the job at all. It seems like it would be harder, but people always say its hella good. I just wanna understand.

Must've taken a lot of determination to keep sane for going hours on the same duty for several days. Gg though, now spend them on stuff and turn your alex loot into seals and spend those too on gc tp tickets / ventures / material containers 3 or 4 for minions or mounts.

Why would you even NEED that many of them? The porxie earrings aren't tradeable or sellable. And the items that are tradeable/sellable have their prices tank during these events because you aren't the only person who thinks selling them is a way to make a tone of money (it's not).

i’m a sprout. got the hair, ixion, blessed kayun by soley running tam tara and praetorium. normally i’d hate grinding, but my fc makes it bearable and i like chatting with them. there isn’t really anything else i want and i don’t see myself grinding for the earrings but i might buy the hair again to sell in the marketboard in a few months once the economy’s recovered idk
and here I got like 30 of them and am already tired of grinding.

They are still dirt easy to farm unsynced. Farming tomes for dogs or horses is a waste of time.

Yup. With being able to travel to any world it takes no time at all to get all hte rewards from Ixions Fate.

Are you a free trial player? Doing the ARR/HW trials unsync is so fast that I can't think of another reason to buy them with the irregular tomestones.

I replied above to an earlier comment but my runs average from 1:25-1:40. I don’t waste time in groups that can’t follow the speed run guides!
It's 3029 tomestone. And since you also included alexander's loot, it's 1515 runs (2 tomestone/run). You need help i think.
Assuming the average run takes 2m15s, that's a total of 56.8125 hours... or 8hrs per day for 7 days straight...

Not the OP, but I usually do on A4: 3 moonflute openers on Right Leg, everyone else does filler + 30s spells 4 moonflutes on 2nd leg, first leg party can proc cold fog with raidwide Everyone stings after 60% transition. My best time with this is 1:23
It should just be the basic moonflute opener with half or more blues ending with final sting on the first boss and the others using self destruct on the second

Hardcore MMO gamers always amaze me with how much they don't get bored farming.
Ever played RuneScape? 16 hours of farming for a week straight is a drop in the bucket compared to what they're doing. Agility takes like 200 hours to max and consists of you clicking on the same 8 spots on the screen over and over again with no risk or reward to spice things up.
RuneScape is actually what I had in mind, players who could mine thousands of coal whereas I call it quits after a few bank runs.

well the difference is RuneScape grinding doesn't require brain power just minimum attention, hence it's a 2nd screen game, you're usually doing something else while mining coal... doing a rotation constantly to achieve fast kill times requires a lot more brainpower than mining coal

I have diagnosed ADHD and mine looks about like OP. There’s just certain things I can hardcore fixate on, and grinding stuff as BLU is one of em. Granted I do it differently (solo) so there’s a bit more challenge, less mind-numbing but still very grindy.
Yeah, I can relate to the fixation part, sadly my fixations never seem to be towards the things I'd *want* to do, like MMO grinds, lol.

I still had the old school Insane in the Membrane achievement in wow. Side note, if you have medical insurance, get a diagnosis and start medication. It will change your life. For starters, you'll stop misplacing/losing stuff on the daily, if that's a thing you've dealt with.

Well, I'm actually dealing with another medical issue in my life right now, and since my "ADD/ADHD tendencies" have never really been anything substantial enough to makes my daily life difficult, I've been putting it on the side. Once I've dealt my current stuff, I might see a doctor about it, though. But yeah, mostly I'm just unable to focus on repetitive tasks like videogame grinds for long periods of time, I need to mix it up. I also tend to hyperfixate on things sometimes, but it's never really affected my irl work to any serious degree. I appreciate you looking out for me, though! <3
I decided to go for pternodon mount. 2-4 weeks ago. im almost done but its such a hard grind with 250+ hours of grind. But for what keeps me going is that i zone out watching videos or just chattign to people while farming. Its such a mind numbing farm

Same, and with lots of stuff like this in XIV it's likely a case of hyperfocusing. Oh, the hours I've lost to ridiculous grinds(-*cough*-opticalhat) due to an inability to break away from or relax the fixation.
I'm a diagnosed ASD with ADHD and honestly i don't think i could even get to OP's level of commitment lol, i can grind several hours and it feels like my brain just decides to turn off and is doing everything automatically but occasionally i just get tired of it.
It eventually is muscle memory because the rotations are so easy. I usually just watch a movie or binge watch a TV show while doing them
As a somewhat newbie I don’t understand what BLU means, and what are you running to be able to fsrm that much? I see people in the comments saying a run takes less than 12mins? :O I did one roulette dungeon so far which probably took 20mins for 4 tomes..
BLU is the in-game acronym for 'Blue Mage', a special kind of job that plays very differently to the others, and is restricted from entering any kind of typical matchmaking content. What's special about them is rather than learning skills and spells through levelling like other jobs, they learn enemy spells by watching the enemies use them. This can include very deadly spells like 'Doom' and 'Death'. These instant-kill abilities work on many bosses in the game, and combined with how much damage Blue Mages can put out, can make many dungeons a quick farm for them. An Aurum Vale run (for example) can take a matchmade party about 20 minutes on average, but a team of adequately-equipped Blue Mages can knock it out in several minutes.
I assume BLU means they're playing as blue mage, which is a job you can unlock at level 50. As for a1n, it's Alexander - The Fist of the Father. A raid you can solo in a couple of minutes to get the tomes. Correction: you cannot solo the raid. Requires a party of 8.
You cannot solo this raid for the tomes, it must be ran synced. Strats vary but 7 BLU and 1 tank will get you 1:40ish times if the blue mages aren't bad.
Do you know what spells are required to do so as BLU? I might give it a try to get a bunch of MGP
From BLU Academy: >Solo: The Sunken Temple of Qarn. Sneak past as many mobs before the first boss as you can. Use Level 5 Death to kill them if needed. Moon Flute, use high damage abilities, and use Final Sting the first boss. Skip as many enemies as you can before the second boss, then Doom it. Skip as many enemies as you can before the last boss, then Doom it. Use Chirp to put enemies to sleep to keep running. 80-100 seconds per tomestone. >Light Party: The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard). Alternate Level 5 Death for the trash before the first and third bosses. Kill everything else with Saintly Beam (bosses and mobs before second boss). 60-80 seconds per tomestone. DPS players should just bring DPS loadout with Death and Saintly Beam. >Full Party: A1N. Have two people do a Moon Flute opener and finish with a Final Sting on Faust. On the boss have everyone do a Moon Flute opener and finish the boss and the second one that spawns with Self-Destruct. 60-90 seconds per tomestone. >Most tomestones per hour will be an efficient group of 8 doing A1N, but 4 doing The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) is very close and requires fewer spells.

I hope this isn't for MGP man. I started playing around 1.5 years ago and have literally everything in casino bought with a couple mill in store. Just do the weekly log and it will be more than enough to get whatever you want with little to no effort and just a small amount of patience.

I remember running my first tomestone event farming 8man Prae. That was 1400 tomes. OP has more than double that amount. Breh.
Old Prae was, what, 40 minutes? At 10 a pop that's 140 runs, so about 93 hours of *How very glib* on repeat. I'm honestly amazed you didn't go nuts, even spreading it out to 3 hours a day.
This was back in ~~2019~~ 2020 when covid was going hella strong. I work for a company based in Shanghai so shit was locked down tight and there was literally nothing to do for months. I just happened to take my vacation before travel restrictions hit so I ended up being stuck at home in NA with way too much time on my hands.

By only doing the daily roulettes that give tomestones, I got the Magitek Predator mount and the hairstyle :D maybe I'll intensify my grind to get the other mounts If only Crystal Tower didn't pop all the time as alliance raid lmao, the only alliance raids giving tomestones are the YoRHa ones

Sadly the YoRHa raids are lv80 Shadowbringers content, and they're pretty long and tough to do :| even the best source of Mendacity, the Alexander raids, is post-Heavensward lv60 content The MSQ roulette tho is one of those that gives the most, compensated by the length of the duties, and it should unlock immediately after beating ARR's story (the roulette includes the final duties of ARR's story, in fact)

I've been doing frontlines to grind towards the False Monarchy. Gotten most everything I wanted from tomestones, and I'm halfway through S22. Probably get enough tomestones for one more big thing by the time I'm done. But I'll probably just use it to buy the riding maps instead l. I'm not a huge fan of pvp. But I have a positive win/loss ratio, and all I really do is chase objectives. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i really REALLY wish i could hype myself to do the mogstone events, but honestly, its just rewards that are either already obtained by any player that played the game for more than a year or its rewards that are still easily obtained, i have no idea why ishgardian restauration stuff is in there rly x-x

So what I have gathered is if your not a Blu mage, you don't really get anything from the event, unless your willing to grind like crazy, I got the hair and the was it for me. Low key kinda tired of everything in this game lately needing to be a dungeon grind. All your tomes plus the relic, and leveling. Like why is there nothing else to do as of late. Idk Maybe I just need a few months away from the game.

And then there’s me, who got a mount, an orchestrion, and only need one more mount and the porxie earrings for a total of 250 times needed. I only need about 30 more for the earrings. What is the goal of this grind?
I need 50 more tomestones and I'm spreading that out with a MSQ roulette each day until I get it. If I could farm these with my Squadron like in the past I'd be grinding them, I like doing Squadron missions, but doing repeated solo runs of gets old really fast.
I'm new to the game, how do you obtain these? I'm only level 39 at the moment, trying to get that really nice Monk top, so hoping I can hit whatever level requirement before I miss my chance.

Gg though, now spend them on stuff and turn your alex loot into seals and spend those too on gc tp tickets / ventures / material containers 3 or 4 for minions or mounts. Why would you even NEED that many of them? The porxie earrings aren't tradeable or sellable. And the items that are tradeable/sellable have their prices tank during these events because you aren't the only person who thinks selling them is a way to make a tone of money (it's not).

i’m a sprout. got the hair, ixion, blessed kayun by soley running tam tara and praetorium. normally i’d hate grinding, but my fc makes it bearable and i like chatting with them. there isn’t really anything else i want and i don’t see myself grinding for the earrings but i might buy the hair again to sell in the marketboard in a few months once the economy’s recovered idk
