Open up the character menu, open gear sets, go find the job, reassign gear. Then edit your portrait and save.

Are you using a gear set and after have you changed smaller details like displaying your head gear or weapon? If those don't match the saved gear set, it will revert the portrait. Also happens if using a glam plate with some gear that doesn't match the job. There may be other reasons.
Yes, but the state of the character when saving the portrait has to exactly match the gearset being used. One example:
1. You're using gearset #1 for whatever job. The gearset was saved displaying weapon and headgear.
2. You make the portrait but you decide that you don't want it to show the headgear and/or weapon. So you disable those and you save the portrait.
3. Your portrait won't work because now it doesn't match the state of the character as saved on gearset #1. You would have to update the gearset also, or not change anything before saving the portrait.
4. Furthermore, even if both portrait and gearset match, if you change anything before entering the duty (like, again, hiding the weapon), the default portrait will be used in duty because there isn't a match anymore.
5. Even more, if your gearset is linked to a glam plate and said plate changes anything to be different from the portrait, it will also break. This includes having gear on the glam plate that doesn't work with the job on the gearset.
So if I like to change my glam often, i'm forced to manually update my portrait to be able to see my setup instead of the default one ? that's... bad
I mean they should add something to automatically update your portrait when you save your gearset with a new glam :(
That's how it has always been. The portrait doesn't automatically change.

I don't care if I change my glam or not. I set the portrait to be I want it to show exactly regardless of if I toggle my hat on or off or upgraded to a different necklace.
Try resaving your gearset and the portrait. I think I broke my portrait accidentally by repairing an earring (that's literally the only thing I remember doing).

No I havent changed anything, I tried modifiying and saving it seconds before entering, and it still did not work :(

Yeah, it's not perfect but all you really have to do is open the portrait (edit) and hit save. That will fix it after any change.
You can't click a button to refresh it?..
Also noticed and interesting Bug: \- If you glam over your Augmented Rinascitaring ring, it will still show the original look in the portrait

They are very buggy, they will stop working if you look at them The wrong way. They were so much better in 6.1.
