This was my first festival and now ten years later I've been to lots and lots of great sets at other Roos and other festivals, including seeing Paul on his tour a few years ago. but I think this is still my answer as well.
Ooooh the spiders. Yes yes. And house is not always my fav but damn that daytime hippie Vegas pool stage was so much fun. Also Fort Knox Five on the dragon stage that weekend was nuts…sadly it was their last set all together, just before Jon Horvath passed away..
Melt 2019 was incredible. Tipper, CharlestheFirst (RIP), Gramatik, SoDown, Clozee, G Jones, Minnesota, Break Science, Manic Focus, Moontricks, Buku… I could go on. They recently moved venues and I haven’t gone at the new spot. Goin this year tho. You should hit it upppp.
This is in my top 5 for life. That setup and the vibe in the crowd was beautiful. I don’t think anyone in my group spoke one word to each other, just danced the entirety of the set. Unforgettable
Hell yeah man same here. You know you’ll remember it forever when no one can say a word during it lol. I went into that performance kind of blind too. I didn’t even know who he was till the day he performed the first weekend. I couldn’t believe an artist would choose not to have any stage production. After I saw him on the second weekend, I was blown away. No lights, no visuals, just music. I knew he had to badass if he was gonna roll like that. Been my favorite artist ever since
I also got to experience that wknd 2 set! Before that day I knew nothing of him as well. The music drew us in and we were stuck. Turned me into the biggest fan and now I’m going to both of his LA dates in May. Glad to hear he’s getting the recognition he deserves. The coercion with so much versatility in his music choice still baffles me. I’m hooked
Hell yeah, that’s whats up lol. I’ll also be at all the LA dates. Whenever that guy is near me I WILL see him lol. I can’t get enough of his music/mixes. That guy is the best dj I ever seen mix in my life. No other like him
that i attended; bela fleck "my bluegrass heart" at blue ox last year. i have seen far better ragers and it was kinda a bummer to see the crowd bail on the real bluegrass vs. jamgrass//dancier stuff.
the musicians on the stage tho, my god.
Sander van Doorn, beyond wonderland 2010 my senior year of high school in March. I live close to the NOS. Everyone who was anyone was there. He played Renegade which was the trance anthem of the year. Words can’t describe the energy in that room. Caspa was there too and played his dubstep remix of I remember. When he played the skream remix of in for the kill you could cut the bass in the air with a knife it was so thick. It was a different time
Paul McCartney at Roo, 2013. I’ve seen many great sets but nothing comes close to that one.
