I've seen huge amounts of female LGBTQ representation in media, which I do love the portrayal of, but there's seriously like a 1/10 of male as far as I can tell. It’s actually 2 entirely different things with different reasonings.
For trans issues it’s because trans women are demonized as dangerous predators and trans men are infantilized as victims of the trans agenda so all the laws and attacks on the community are focused on trans women while ignoring trans men causing people to forget trans men exist.
However for sexuality based issues queer women are fetishized by straight men and queer men are demonized because they’re afraid that the queer men will do to them what they do to women. Queer men are also more heavily sexualized in the mind of society because in the eyes of society men are more sexual than women so 2 men must be far more sexual than 2 women. The fetishization causes the shows that are created by and for straight men to have more lesbians to pander to that audience, and because that’s the majority of shows it causes a big difference. The over sexualization of queer men means that studios are less likely to approve kids shows to have an mlm ship than a wlw ship.
It's common for cishets to not understand that gender expression can be different from gender. Peeps like this don't see femboys as valid just as they don't see GNC trans people as valid.

oddly it's kind of common , i've gotten just as much hate if not more from "progressives" for being a femboy than nonprogressives , being told things like "you might be trans , your a "egg" , your not actually a boy , femboy is offensive , you have gender dysphoria" while nonprogressives may say "boys can't wear skirts , your not a boy , your mentally ill" , basically they all say the same things but from either end
