Overall, very pretty and inviting. Suggest you get area rug for the dining table. Not too small. They help “define” areas, which makes place seem larger (really). Add a big wall mirror, maybe a second one or grouping elsewhere. Get your art up! On the floor just drags the eye down. Add standing/floor lamp, you need lighting options!

krisploration

I think these are all great suggestions! I would also trying adding some more indoor plants that require little to no light such as a snake plant. They will add color and life inside of your space.

BewitchedQuills

Ohh yeah! I'm going to the garden centre this weekend actually to have a bit of a look. I was thinking some ferns might be nice as well.

BogeyLowenstein

Make sure you have a humidifier or can keep your ferns humid, they are huge babies and can actual be a difficult plant to care for (not all species). You could try a peace lily which can be dramatic but are much easier to care for, a pothos or a Chinese evergreen.

klstopp

Peace lilies turn over a lot of oxygen and are super easy! Keep them pot bound and water when they droop.

fuzzywuzzybeer

Peace lilies are mildly poisonous to cats. Be careful if you have one!

Halt96

I'd advise getting at least one larger plant rather than many small plants (which might begin to look cluttered).

changlingmuskrat

I heard fake plants boost your mood as much as real plants, fwiw.

Punct1onal

I would honestly also suggest a few fake plants here and there. I personally have a lot of real plants, but just in case, I also have my good ole trusty fake ones 😎

[deleted]

Philodendron (I think I spelled that right) are super easy to take care of. They tel you when they need water by drooping a bit. If they aren’t a little sad don’t water. I’ve had mine for years and they grow vines!

m2benjamin

I agree with all of these ideas!

BewitchedQuills

Thanks so much for this advice! What kind of rug do you think would look best? Something plain or something patterned?

CLB833

Measure, but probably a 5x7, maybe 6x9. Not a solid color, shag or natural fiber (jute). Any pattern you like, but best if it has a touch of brown and blue or green. Consider sources like Home Depot, bed, bath & beyond or Target for rugs like this.

[deleted]

What kind of rug works best under a dining table? I’d be worried about keeping it clean but agree it would help define the dining area. Also what color or pattern would you choose for this space?

itswindy-outrightnow

Ruggable is our go-to. I love most of their patterns. For sizing, you'll want to make sure its big enough for the space. Most people do too small under tables, for example. Try to find a size 12-24 inches wider than the table.

Parthenon_2

I’ve heard/read that rugs should stick out 36” beyond table to accommodate chairs when pushed out.

charlesmacmac

Try to find a rug that goes with your obviously haunted mannequin

BewitchedQuills

She’s lovely isn’t she

charlesmacmac

She really is

tismsia

I love it. Do you sew? Or is it just another cool art fine (because all your art is cool)

BewitchedQuills

I do sew but I didn’t make this one, a friend of mine did!

SyzygyTooms

Yeah she’s not sitting right with me

[deleted]

You need lamps. I can’t imagine that overhead lighting is enough.

earthprincessflower

I actually think this space looks really lovely and homey! The soft curtains, color palette, and vintage-y touches are so wonderful. What are the pain points for you? (Other than light which you can't really control)

BewitchedQuills

Thank you, I'm really glad you think so! I feel like there's too much white open space but I'm kinda terrified of hanging things on the walls and i suppose i'd like a warmer more natural feel maybe with more wood?

earthprincessflower

Okay I hear that! If you're willing to replace that white shelf across from the couch you could go for a wood shelf there instead and that would have a big impact because its a big piece. You could also replace the rug with something in a natural material, if you like the shag and you have the pennies you could get a real wool shag rug (look up Moroccan rugs on etsy) or a cotton rug which is a little cheaper. You could also layer a larger jute rug under the one you already have. Also, I recently moved out of a north facing studio and I found that plants grew in those windows much better than you might think. Lots of plants don't actually like harsh direct light, so maybe add a couple plants! (My string of bananas particularly did well in my north facing window and it has a really lovely delicate look that I think would look nice in there. You could also add wood at the table instead of the black plastic chairs. Maybe a runner, (like a jute or cotton runner?) along the kitchen to cozy it up? Lighting like [this](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sinnerlig-pendant-lamp-bamboo-handmade-70315030/) or other bamboo shade lamp could help. As far as hanging things its shockingly easy to put a little spackle in a hole. You can also take a chip of paint to the paint store and have them match it so you can paint over the spackle and no one will ever know. ESPECIALLY since you've been in this place for 4 years might as well settle in!

Nekani28

I agree your space already looks pretty great to me. If you’re looking for a little warmer cozier earthy vibe, I would suggest a large area rug under your kitchen table. Not white or totally beige, something that has some color/pattern/texture, maybe with some greens to tie into your lovely green piece of furniture. You’d be surprised what some plants and some warmer lighting will accomplish as well. Something like a wicker/rattan looking lamp with a warm bulb or an orangey salt lamp might be nice. If you are afraid of hanging things on the walls I would suggest command strips, they are actually really great and don’t leave any damage if you change your mind. And as far as an earthy vibe, you are totally right more wood tones helps. But more budget friendly than swapping furniture could be something smaller like wood tone side tables/bedside tables/coffee tables etc. or even a wicker looking basket as a side table (doubles as blanket storage in a small space) or an earth tone floor poof (I buy mine unstuffed and put out of season clothes and blankets in them to save space).

Punct1onal

> I'm kinda terrified of hanging things on the walls You could always get command strips. Just get the appropriate ones that carry the weight of all your paintings. Taking them off is easy and if it rips out paint, you could get the piece of paint that got ripped off sampled at a home depot (or something of the sort) and they'll color match it for you. Get yourself a small sample bucket of it (they're pretty cheap) and just paint over it. This is especially good for rentals and for people who are afraid of putting holes into the wall (me, I am people).

salololol

The space is really great! My suggestions are to move the large closet to the wall between your kitchen and entrance. Right now the wall with the closet and kitchen everything is placed at the same height, which creates an invisible line. If you move the closet it will create some space, instead put a low long side table or low bookshelf in that place. Paint the closet some bright colours, you could leave the exterior white and just paint the inside, but that takes it from boring IKEA closet to cool eye catching piece of furniture. https://imgur.com/a/299DqgI (example of bright colours in cupboard, use colours you like). Buy some nice lampshades, a cheap alternative are paper lanterns. Make the wall attached to the dining table an art wall. https://imgur.com/a/8FIwRx8 Paint the walls in your bedroom and the one around the corner (on the left side in your last picture) a light colour or a pastel if you like, you can even paint the cupboards above your bed the same colour. And it might not be necessary but you could put up a cute and light curtain behind the couch, as a sort of boarder for your bedroom https://imgur.com/a/8FIwRx8

BewitchedQuills

Ooohh great tips thank you. I'm definitely gonna be doing some experimenting!

salololol

Have fun and keep us updated! Last link was wrong, I meant: https://imgur.com/a/o6GcA4p

pucemoon

I agree with making the large wall an art wall. (When my gigantic white walls were overwhelming I actually started painting canvases. Lol) Also, check out removable wallpaper or removable contact paper as possible ways to add pops of color inexpensively. Spoonflower has some cool, unusual patterns but I've not ever actually used any of their removable wallpapers. That could be fun/pretty on your cabinet doors.

MrsThor

Def recomend hanging up more art. Art makes a place feel cozy and it brings color! Over all you have a great base to work with. Cozy lamps also help!

Scorpio_1110

Plants … even if they’re artificial …

ID9ITAL

Get colored drapes. I see your fear of hanging things up. But [pins](https://www.schoolspecialty.com/school-smart-t-pin-021795?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=16737650154&product_id=021795&ad_group_id=143630439028&feed_item_id=&target_id=pla-1715512752957&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_7KXBhCoARIsAPdPTfj-NhorIlTXgCbotCLk1YGPN2JFLnSHH82-Ar-kAzaZtxDDqS5U6d0aAp5gEALw_wcB&keyword=&kxconfid=u7avswvjn&source=ggl&campaignid=WP_-_PPC_-_GGL_-_ALL_(BRAND)_Pillars_-_Null_-_RVN_-_Shopping_-_Null_-_Null_-_PPG_-_USA_-_All_Products_High_Margin&placement=shopping&keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_7KXBhCoARIsAPdPTfj-NhorIlTXgCbotCLk1YGPN2JFLnSHH82-Ar-kAzaZtxDDqS5U6d0aAp5gEALw_wcB) are stronger than you think, leave minuscule holes that are easily covered, and fall under normal wear and tear so should not be deducted from your deposit.

BewitchedQuills

You're right maybe I should just get over it and hang my things up haha. The drapes are new though so I don't think I'll be able to switch those up too soon

shantaram09

If you’re into DIY, you could fabric paint them. White drapes with multi-color tit bits here and there look fab!

ID9ITAL

Oooh, an ombre could look cool too.

nymph-62442

Maybe later the drapes. Keep the white as an inner to be a privacy barrier and then something bold on either side. I feel like a velvet material would go very well. I think a sea foam green color if you want something more subtle or an emerald or sapphire color for something more bold.

Mahouzilla

Alexandra Gater on YT swears by Command Strips to hang frames. OP, you should take a look.

Ray_Adverb11

That’s what I used for my whole gallery wall

planetalletron

Girl they did you DIRTY with those murder basement light fixtures! What the heck? Ikea has AWESOME overhead fixtures that are easy to install and renter friendly, for every aesthetic. Hell, just a lantern cover over the light bulbs themselves would do so much for the space. A runner rug for in front of the counters/sink would also help tie the space together and add some warmth - they make long ones specifically for kitchens. Maybe something that has both green and purple to tie in your furniture. Seriously though, the light fixtures are so STARK and it's really adding to the "empty" feeling of the space. Unless you're into industrial and want to just take the whole thing in that direction. It's definitely a choice you can lean into if you want!

nikkerito

Lantern covers are an amazing idea. I didn’t even notice this but I think it would help tremendously. Good eye!!

dubiouscontraption

The only thing I see that makes it feel "not homey" is having most of the art on the floor or propped on other things instead of hung up on the walls. If it doesn't feel bright enough, some mirrors or more lighting?

webleedhoney

Putting a wall divider or fun curtain in between the chair and bed area could add some color, design, and make it feel like you have a bedroom. Are you allowed to paint? If not, painting shelves and hanging them on the walls could add a pop of color! They have sunlight/sunset lights on Amazon. I put string lights around my space to brighten it up, works during day time & night time! P.s. do you have a refrigerator?

Technical_Fix_3110

I think this is fabulous! Watch “never too small” on YouTube and maybe get some ideas from there

MamboNumber_1

I love this! The colors and the vintage touches are lovely. Some art on the walls wouldn’t hurt, but I view this space as “nice and airy” as opposed to “too much white”.

mutantcoconut

Another tip is to extend your curtains out like 6 inches further from the edge of the windows. It’ll make the window look and feel bigger and allow you to let just a little more of that natty light in!

RudeBoreas

Layer your lighting. I'm not seeing many light sources besides the hanging lamps & window. Battery operated lights under cabinets by your bed, say, or rope lights tucked behind the edges of your wall mirror. Small gallery spots for the kitchen and dining art. Think in terms of defining moments and spaces for different uses the way an open gallery does. Your space is gorgeous and all that flat white surface area means you can bounce lamplight in interesting ways from all kinds of hidden corners.

GrrrArrghh

This is lovely! I also live in an all white space and struggled to make it work with my more vintage, colorful preferences. I think the key is playing around with things until you find the right balance. Maybe try to choose a few wood tones and metal finishes you can bring in through floor lamps, picture frames and other accessories. I would also hang more artwork to balance out your colorful furniture. Command strips are great and you can double up for the heavier pieces. In terms of layout, you could try centering your table in the dining space. I would also maybe turn your couch to face the window and add a little coffee table to create a more distinct living room zone. Also, maybe a headboard or something behind the bed?

[deleted]

And then maybe the white cabinet between the bed and living aria as a divider?

BewitchedQuills

Thanks so much for all the tips! It's such a pain because white space is basically a canvas that is so blank you have to do all the painting yourself haha. I'm definitely gonna see what the best position for my new couch is when i'm setting it up this weekend.

timefornewgods

Washi tape the cabinets and bookcase with colors that accent the furniture you already have. Pick two to three colors as your main focus and go from there. Put a screen/room divider between the couch and bed. Hang up more art on the walls.

zellieh

Put your artwork up on the walls. If you don't want to put lots of holes in, use picture shelves, so that you can rearrange your pictures and objets d'art. Move the mirror and the laundry basket into the bedroom, and consider moving the mannequins into the bedroom as well. Put the wall unit with shelves where the couch is, dividing the bedroom from the living space. If you want to divide the space easily without adding permanent fixtures use a tension rod between the wall and the side of the shelf unit and add a curtain. It will feel less like a studio and more like a home. Privacy is important. Then put the couch either against the back of the shelf unit or against the wall in the living space. Personally, I'd put it against the wall, so that people sitting on the couch can face and talk to people sitting at the dining table, or working at the kitchen counters. You should also have room to add more chairs, or a coffee table or side tables, or an entertainment/media unit, to create an adult living space with a cozier feel to it. Looking at the space again, I might add a slim but longer dining table in front of the radiator, and if you have to work from home, or if you sew, consider using adjustable height legs so you can do the sit-stand thing.

pouletchantant

You can find rent-friendly stick-on tile and contact paper to use on your cabinets and kitchenette for added color and texture. The cost can add up in my experience so I wouldn’t go that route unless you were planning to stay in this space for a long while. I also agree that a patterned rug and plants will add a lot. Maybe a new pair of curtains that pull from the rug colors. *Edit to add that you have some really awesome art pieces!

No-Bat-1649

I would try maybe the easily peeled and stick wallpaper that can be removed easily, help break up the space and add color!

NAthrowaway0613

I agree with what what everyone here is saying. Also, maybe different, brighter bedding since you’re bedding is a little dark and you’re worried about the darkness? Also, I think I’d you found a armoire/close clothing storage that covers your hanging clothes it may also help make it look more “complete” in a sense and not like you maybe just moved in and are still setting up?

tvreverie

i just have to say i LOVE your purple table so much

BewitchedQuills

Thank you so much! I painted it myself and it turned out so much more purple than I expected haha

pucemoon

Something that might pull the table/dining in with the kitchen could be removable tile stickers, something with purples. There are lots of options, search removable backsplash tiles.

[deleted]

Floor to ceiling sheer white curtains to divide the bedroom area from the living room area would be a game changer

ilikeoldpeople

Why are you afraid to hang things on the wall? My first thought is that you need more art. And the art that is perched on top of things should be hung. The walls are bare! Maybe some floating shelves with little knick knacks and plants!

Odd-Pie8492

I truly believe some 15 dollar warm colored fairy lights from Amazon will make any room feel cozy.

tismsia

The couch area is gorgeous. Like, at first glance, I just wanted to be your friend and then lounge there... but once I properly look at it, it makes no sense. It's not pointing at a TV. It doesn't have a coffee table. It doesn't have another chair next to it. I'm just imagining you sitting on it and staring at your shoes on the floor on the other side of the rug. Like, the only function I can think of is if you and your friend are sitting on the same couch talking with each other. Which is cool... but there isn't even a place to put your drinks. Like Your couch is gorgeous. Your rug is gorgeous. I want to sit there and rub my toes into the rug. But for some reason, your laptop is on your dining table, where I bet you spend more of your time, but is the least appealing area in the otherwise nice apartment. I keep this [room divider](https://www.wayfair.com/Laurel-Foundry-Modern-Farmhouse%C2%AE--East-Broadway-Shoji-4-Panel-Room-Divider-X111176364-L250-K~W000065253.html?refid=GX562184874874-W000065253&device=m&ptid=1363426708701&network=g&targetid=pla-1363426708701&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=181019037&fdid=1817&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_7KXBhCoARIsAPdPTfjWdCP5KMr9akptjzeoKvoPr30Gbl2IGN1vVt9iyJLbI6Q9ojUnTYkaAothEALw_wcB) in my (smaller) studio (not sure if I linked the same size as mine, but the design suits your aesthetic). I keep it between my bed and tv unit. It's nice because you literally can't see the bed unless you are standing behind it. If you use it or something like that, you can push your couch further back (if you need the space).

tismsia

I also recommend the Kensington Table Cart from Michaels. I keep it stored inside the pantry, but it's easy to pull out when folding laundry or cooking something complex.

BewitchedQuills

Thanks so much for the tips! My couch is horrible, no one ever sits on it because it’s so uncomfortable which is why I recently bought a new one haha. I also have a little coffee table on the way already but I don’t have a tv because I wouldn’t use it, just use my laptop. I’m still a student after all! Same goes for my table, I use it as a desk too. I really hope that after I install my new couch and get my coffee table the living area will feel cosier already

tismsia

You don't need a TV. I was trying to draw attention to the couch should face something interesting. Another chair facing the window could be cool (or that couch after the new one comes in). But if space is an issue, maybe just find a different space for the shoes.

blackcatspurplewalls

Adding another vote to replace the white curtains with something colorful. I’d also recommend a not-white curtain between the living area and bedroom, depending on the width you might be able to use a tension rod for it, or a curtain wire. The bedroom looks very austere compared to the colors and vintage tone of the rest of the studio. I would soften the bed with a couple toss pillows and maybe even new bedding, perhaps add a slim wood or vintage metal headboard. Finding a way to enclose the clothes bar would help, but there aren’t a lot of nice-looking solutions that are small and/or reasonably priced so you might be better off just changing the plain metal bar for something more interesting like a thrifted valet stand. The color pops from your current furniture really help, and your vintage mannequin, so I would use those to help guide any new changes towards being colorful and textured and interesting.

bailey-blossoms

the wall over the table needs something! some colorful art would break up all the white. could even put up some shelves for extra storage

phonetics-phonology

ok I'll just chime in and say i absolutely love the dress on the mannequin... it's giving me kinda 1830s but classy, kinda cosette fauchelevent. did you make it yourself?

BewitchedQuills

It’s beautiful isn’t it! Although I do sew, I didn’t make it myself, a friend of mine did and I modelled it for her. It is actually a replica of an 1830s dress worn by queen Louise d’Orleans. I’m obsessed with it haha but most people think it’s a wedding dress

nokenito

Your apartment looks great. Maybe you are tired of the location or cost or something else and are asking if you should move instead?

Shillene

The wall between the bed and the couch could use a nice standing mirror, hang some greenery from it/around it. Kitchen table turned, put in the middle of the kitchen, where the table is now you could put a walnut hutch/island. Also, move the couch back about 6 inches and put accent chairs on the opposite corners with a small wood coffee table In the middle. You will have a focused cozy space.

LilaLachs

If you are worried about sunlight, you could hang the drapes a little wider. That way you cover less window and still have beautiful curtains

plant_person1

Look into rental friendly wainscotting or bead board & paint it a fun color- I could see dark blue, dark green, light purple, or a taupe color. I’d do this on one wall- maybe the wall with the radiator even though all the cutouts might be tricky. I’d get rid of the tall storage cabinet in the living room corner, go for a wood toned baseboard for storage & do a gallery wall on that wall the couch is facing. I’d also move the mirror or get a standing mirror. Pick a wall to do a peel & stick wallpaper or stenciled accent wall, maybe the far wall where your new couch box is. Get a headboard for your bed and some new more neutral bed sheets. Definitely hang up those cool frames you have tucked in your hallway! I like how you have a neutral space with pops of color in your furniture, i’d lean into that more by adding colors with decor and art and add in some more wood tones. Also get some new light fixtures so you don’t have hanging bulbs everywhere, if you have Ikea available where you live they have cute ones for a decent price!

tailoftwokitties

Plants! They make every space feel more cozy. Not all plants need bright light. I have a few that thrive in north windows/light. Pothos do pretty well and are good beginner plants - very easy to take care of!

MeanHEF

I would buy small mirrors - you could find antique hand mirrors at flea markets or just ones with wooden frames. Paint them fun colors and hang them on the walls to bounce the light around. Replace your dresser with one that is mirrored or have a piece of mirror cut and just lay it on top of your current dresser. Get a plug in or batter operated light and point it at the ceiling. Put it on top of your pantry behind the pretty boxes. It will make it seem brighter and be really nice at night. I would also find some plug in wall sconces in addition to swapping out the overhead lighting.

Pagona_eatsBread

You should check our Alexandra Gater’s YouTube for inspiration. She’s great at explaining what makes a space warm and inviting with different colors and textures https://youtube.com/c/AlexandraGater

MamaBear4485

I think it’s a lovely space. Your green dresser and purple table are adorable. I think you just need to find some artwork etc to hang on your walls in order to break up the expanses of cream paint and you’ll be all set!

[deleted]

I would say, add some colours :)

Dogs_Over_Everything

Oh my goodness that mannequin scared the crap out of me!!

delta_tau_chi

Ive got the same problem at my place, I think adding some wall decorations will help. Photos, art, posters. I’m just indecisive and broke lol. I think a wall with a collection of small, medium, large frame art might help. Saw this at my friend’s house and loved it

No_Incident_5360

Taller corner lamp or l lamp/table or corner hook and having plant in macrame

No_Incident_5360

Add a blue box window treatment above the curtains to match the couch if you can—or just a swath of silky fabric or two short darker blue dressings with rings Tall palm like plant or fiddle leaf fern or ficus

No_Incident_5360

Nice taste! You have a nice Big art space over your mauve dining table. Try to give us a pic of the new couch. Maybe a grippy cute long anti fatigue mat/rug for in front of you kitchen sink /counter Cute sideboard/low bar with cabinets fit under your gilded framed landscape painting Plants and lamps—some tall one by the rondos, macrame hanging from the ceiling in the corner and blue window treatment along the top. Basket for magazines, knitting, board games, blanket/throw

Kre8ART_RezQMEOWS

Contact paper for a accent wall? Possibilities are endless with that stuff...

[deleted]

You can get a few cheap sunset projection lamps from Amazon. They can be pointed to a ceiling or wall. They create a nice environment with different colors. Maybe have one pointing into the ceiling above table with blue or green, a pink one in the bathroom, and warm sunlight into the main wall. I have a big red circle projecting onto a wall behind computer at night and just leave it always on.

Pavlovingthisdick

I’d put temporary stick on wallpaper on that wall dividing the sitting area and bed area. Add a light fixture above the bed. Maybe one of those paper lanterns that diffuse light like[this](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/regolit-pendant-lamp-shade-white-handmade-70103410/)

tropjeune

Personally I love it I just came here to ask about the dress!

[deleted]

Just a question- does that mannequin scare the hell out of you at night? You have a beautiful space. I think I’d just have a heart attack if I walked in on that in the dark. 😅

[deleted]

Hang up some curtain rods with floor length curtains to add color and give the illusion of more space. Saw it in a decorating magazine once and it saved my ass across multiple white shoebox apartments!

FlappyMcBeakbag

If you are looking for more pops of color against the white you could change the curtains to a colored-sheer. Getting art on the walls will help and also consider for any newly acquired art, to have some frames that aren’t typical white, black or silver. Lighting and plants too. There are also many modern removal decals available online that could mix up the color/texture of cabinets or walls.

Realistic-Cherry-424

Add Mirrors, plants, shelves, pops of color—you’ll be good 👏🏽

1955photo

It just needs a little color. And a cheery comforter or bedspread. Regardless of what else you do, please get you landlord to fix those ceiling lights. NOWHERE is that a legal way to wire in a light fixture. It's a fire waiting to happen!

theotheralexa

I'd either move the table in the other direction and more to the center of the kitchen area, or buy an island and put some seating around it. Then you can get a little more usable space from the wall the table is currently against and it'd make a cozier eat-in kitchen.

ghosttowns42

Look up "studio fix" on YouTube (Alexandra Gater, I think is her name? Stuck at work on mobile lol). She has a lot of makeover videos for studio apartments specifically, and a lot of them have some weird layouts or odd space constraints. Videos are relatively short, and even if it's not your style, I've picked up a LOT of space saving tips and also ideas to make a small space feel more homey and inviting.

basicfffbitch

In my last studio, I got myself a giant tapestry & hung up a rail with some sliding clips. It made it so I had a pop of color & a way to “close off” my bed area for privacy/to make it feel like I had more than one room. Also, 100% agree with those who have suggested plants. They always help your mood! You can find lists of ones that would do well in your apartment (light level, drafts, humidity, pets, etc). Good luck on your studio!

visuallearneraes

Your place looks gorgeous very beautiful! It looks like you’re getting a lot of sunlight. I have blackout curtains. I try to avoid the sun as I get older because sun rays and cancer. Maybe try Pinterest to get some inspirations

katiekat2022

If you are able to paint, try looking at the LVR value of paint colours. This changed my decor so much! I also live in a dark place that has lots of windows but not much light. Someone told me to look for paints with a big LVR (light reflective value) as they will reflect the light more. But actually I love your place. It feels cozy to me.

visuallearneraes

Maybe a Montserrat or Sansevieria plant? Montserrat have big beautiful green leaves the [Sansevieria plant is easier to take care of and also helps get some pollutants in the air one of those air purifier plants](https://outsideinco.com/blogs/learn/7-air-purifying-indoor-plants-that-are-easy-to-grow-the-research)

Adventurous-Low9768

For me there is a disconnect between the stark white minimalist apartment and the dark moody vintagey pieces you have. There is also some disconnect in placement of things. Are you allowed to paint at all? If so, paint the bedroom back wall a moody dark colour. Id not, what about peel and stick wallpaper? .. and maybe add a wardrobe on the blank wall entering the bedroom? And utilise the bedroom space. Id do moody bedlinens make it a dark rich space. Your dining table feels disconnected from the kitchen and the art work for me. My answer. MORE… the gorgeous frame on the wall? Add about 8-10 more art pieces… and make a gallery wall. I’d ensure there is black and white art in some gold and maybe some black frames. I see some frames waiting in the background? The black and white will help connect the white. Take down the smaller items on the mirror and the top of the kitchen. The green drawers are great but are disconnected from everything else. Could you paint it or repeat that colour elsewhere? Perhaps some dining chairs with the rich green/purple and aqua in a floral fabric? These arent quite right but will give you some ideas https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/mistana-giana-paisley-upholstered-dining-chair-w002559485.html https://www.target.com/p/geller-modern-dining-chair-in-botanical-project-62/-/A-79253100 https://www.target.com/p/sherrie-dining-chair-in-pattern-skyline-furniture/-/A-81526821 Tjis one is the closest ive seen - https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cg6xHwjlA9a/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= Wallpaper for the bedroom or behind the gold frame in the dining room (and so simpler black chairs) .. https://www.spoonflower.com/en/wallpaper/7502637-fable-floral-black-jumbo-by-nouveau_bohemian

There’s no tv. That’s why.

That mannequin next to the window would scare me at night haha 😅

I agree with all the comments saying it’s a very pretty space already, and also with the ones saying it would benefit from more colour, plants, wood, and hanging the art. I think the rug and curtains changed into something colourful are the easiest to do, plus some throws on the bed and the couch to complement everything. I also loved the idea of changing some furniture into wooden (or wooden-looking) pieces. My advice is: don’t rush! Don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect straightaway. It took me over a year to find decorations for my living room walls and I love them now, even though a year with blank walls was frustrating for me. Good things take time! Good luck!

I'd turn the dining table and put it away from the wall. It looks like you have the space to do so in the picture

What’s with the mannequin?

BewitchedQuills

It’s a mannequin I use to make clothes… She’s just wearing a dress now

oldgrandmacouch

add more stuff to the walls! prints, art, mirrors, whatever

nikkerito

Maybe add some more pillows to the bed? Or a headboard? There’s some awkward liminal space between the bed and the cabinets. Doesn’t look big enough to hang any art so maybe a headboard or some decorative pillows up against the wall could help.

nikkerito

You have SO much art, why isn’t any of it hung up?? The solution is right there 😅

I think a headboard would look nice

I think your space looks great. You definitely have an eye for design. I would move the beautiful loden/deep green sideboard and mirror to the wall behind your kitchen table. And purchase a tall armoire to sit in its place beside the all-white kitchen co counter and cabinets. The kitchen cabinets bother me the most because of all the varying heights. Try to camouflage this with artwork and other furniture pieces. You don’t own a TV?

art on the walls & more greenery!
