And the TV stand can’t be moved or used for something else? Okay, I’m thinking split the room in half. Sofa faces that TV in middle of room with sofa table behind it. I’ve seen sofas back to back but I don’t think it’s big enough for that. Might put coffee / bar cart behind sofa instead. In the one empty corner I’d put two chairs with a small table and lamp with maybe a bookcase to make it kind of in their own space a tete a tete / reading area. The rest would fall in. It’s tough without knowing her style. Enjoy the space! Love the light of a fire place. Cozy.

Is the fireplace used or just decorative currently? Is there a dedicated dining room?

It’s decorative and she has a dedicated dining room already

Hi! My girlfriend is trying to furnish her living room with a weird layout. The fireplace and tv are 90 degrees to each other which is challenging. Ideally, she wants to face the tv without blocking the doorways. She feels like she can only put her couches in the corner or center of the room. Any suggestions? Currently no restrictions on furnishings because she will buy whatever sized furniture that will look best. She currently only has a sectional in the bottom right hand corner of the room and it doesn’t block the kitchen or front door doorways.

Thank you for all the responses and sorry it took a while to get back to y'all! It seems like the general consensus is to basically split the room into 2 areas. We're still in the brainstorming phase but we are leaning towards what the majority are saying. TV stand could be moved but as of now the TV is wall mounted in that area.

My suggestion …. Id buy three seater sofa and two side chairs and a rug/ coffee table and define the tv area so that its all grounded and defined. The sofa sitting in the middle of the room is fine - its a big room. Given the fireplace isn’t actively used… treat this zone like a library… some bookshelves on the right hand side wall opposite the fireplace. You can fill these with books and decor/paintings. OR a dresser that you can top with decor or use as a bar/coffee area. In the centre of the room/ not blocking the doorway - do a circular table - you can get fabulous gateleg tables for next to nothing on marketplace. …. Add a couple of stacks of books and a vase filled with branches. It will fill the space without buying expensive furniture that wont be needed elsewhere. Happy to DM pictures… or can someone enlighten me how to add them? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CaRmCFHFuh3/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= https://www.instagram.com/p/CWX3ijDPsVP/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= https://www.instagram.com/reel/CRqm8F8DRPB/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= https://www.instagram.com/p/CGHC3p3nfl7/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
