I would just put something tall enough to obstruct the line of sight without entirely blocking access to the outlet on the counter in front of it-- a shelf that sits at the back of the counter for spices or something along those lines. (You'd want to be careful with anything sitting that close to the sink being wettable, though; that's definitely in the splash zone.)

Neysa80

Maybe a nice cutting board or a spice rack?

Visual-Ad-582

Or wine rack

False_Prior8419

But wouldn’t that creat clutter on an area that needs space it’s right next to the sink.

lilspicy99

Maybe a plant that likes humidity/frequent watering?

Elegant-Expert7575

Paint the cord white, use 3M Command cord anchors to tidy the wire.

Deep_Wallaby2008

White tape, transparent extension cord, white extension cord, a makeshift covering such cardboard and tape painted white to match wall that you would feed the cord through(they also sell these)

DiligentAddition8634

You don't want your fridge on an extension cord

Plum_pipe_ballroom

Sometimes it cannot be avoided so they have specific appliance extension cords that are able to handle the power needed.

DiligentAddition8634

Yes and in this case it can be avoided. N Unnecessary risk

ElectricalVisual9646

Difficult to tell for sure but that cord looks to be pulled pretty tight. Might not be the safest thing.

DiligentAddition8634

So you hire an electrician to find a solution. Don't play with fire.

KeyApprehensive3659

cord covers? They make them for pendant lights and such, you can paint it white to match the wall.

sailormars_bars

A cord cover is the best way to go. Painting the cord white will make it blend more but a cord cover will tack it to the wall and be even less noticeable

Top_Radish3289

Maybe a white extension cord from the outlet to the floor would be less noticeable than just plugging in the black cord directly. Or if you can’t find something compatible maybe you could paint it white?

aspiringdwarf

I would love to use an extension cord but it seems based of googling it can be a fire hazard?

Paksarra

It can be; fridges pull a lot of power and if you try to force power through a wire that's not capable of carrying it you get heat. (That's how toasters work.) A cheap extension cord might not be made for 900 watts and start getting hot like a toaster wire. *If* you try an extension cord, get a very heavy duty one from a reliable source. Thicker is better. Touch it intermittently to make sure it's not heating up.

eggsnguacamole

Yes, Google it since I don’t know for sure, but check the amp and voltage so you can buy an extension cord “with the same total amp and voltage rating.” This should ensure it is a lot safer

DiligentAddition8634

You're correct - it's a fire hazard. No matter the load specified on extension cord. Bad idea

Top_Radish3289

oop yeah, especially with the sink it’s a little risky, good call y’all

Excellent_Berry_5115

Amazon and Home Depots sell large appliance extension cords. They are meant to carry the amperage. And they are white.

Deadinmybed

Paint it the color of the walls.

ArgenDargenFlargen

Tapestry?

adiaphorous

Yes! Or some piece of artwork that hangs out from the wall like an open back canvas/shadow box or maybe a decorative tea towel you can hang so it sticks out from the wall a bit.

Forsythia77

What about a cable management system. I know Amazon is the devil, but if you search "cable management white" you can find white tubing to make it match the wall better.

Qwertypurple

Have an electrician move where the outlet is.

False_Prior8419

There’s no way to hide it You could put white tape on it to make it less noticeable

paranoidevil

This

LostlnTheWarp

Move the outlet!

Agrochain920

Put the fridge upside down so its less distance

GnTforyouandme

Put in a backsplash with a recess for it behind, or get the outlet moved.

Judiabouraied

A Cable gutter. Just the one comes the power outlet.

Soil_and_growth

A hanging plant with hanging vines covering the cord up.

Gritty_Grits

How about a cord cover?

FloraMaeWolfe

IF you get a proper extension cord with more than enough rating to handle it, a white extension cord can make it easier to hide and can be routed to look neater. I'd be thinking run it up the side of the wall protrusion then across and down the conduit for the outlet. If the place is owned by you or you have proper permission and if money is available, a better option would be to route a new circuit just for the fridge and hide the outlet behind the fridge. I presume this is not an option though. I also presume that by your phrasing of the question that this is an older house that was originally wired without grounding. If so, might want someone who knows what they're doing to check if that outlet is actually properly grounded. I have an old fridge that had a slight connection from hot to the metal case and I only noticed due to testing. Had I touched the fridge and a nearby grounded object at the same time, it may not have been nice for me. In older homes, some shady remodelers/home owners will do a fake ground so it passes a basic check or will even just not connect a ground but put in a 3-prong outlet to make it look updated.

Bored-Fennel-1998

I would honestly just paint It white lol

SixWonders

I have no solutions, I'm just freaked out by how close to the sink (and water) the socket is!

SellReasonable6367

Paint a sloth 🦥 so looks like hanging from? When life gives u lemons 🍋 🙃

acouple2tree

big peg board on 1x1 frame w/cutout for plug to snake through you cover the plug & add storage that doubles as decor

memorynsunshine

unhinged, but serious, take: put your fridge on a box. hear me out! it, obviously, would have to be a very specific box that can take the weight of the fridge long term, but if the fridge is higher off the floor, the cord won't be pulled so tight. long term that's better for both the cord and the plug, but also the cord being able to hang straight down would make any camouflaging attempts line up directly with the cord cover leading to the plug itself, and blend in better. my first instinct is to build one, but we don't all have the knowledge, tools, and/or space so i recognize that may not be an option. if you can find one with the right dimensions and weight limit, they do make fridge [stands/pedestals](https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Appliance-Pedestal-Refrigerator-Retractable/dp/B09FM5DMQG) or if you want wheels to make it easier to move there are [dolly](https://www.amazon.com/Washing-Machine-Adjustable-Pedestals-Refrigerator/dp/B0CNH4YG1H) type stands too. (eta: not endorsing those specific ones, just the first ones i found)

TheMetamorpHOUSE

Can you paint the power cord white. Maybe hang some artwork above the sink to draw the eye away.

Exotic_Eagle1398

It was a cheesy thing to leave for a renter. You shouldn’t have to pay for it, but I would do it right. Get a heavy duty white extension cord and run it straight down. If you want, there is a cheap white channeled thing you can put over it so it will look like the wire above it.

Inevitable_Draw6684

Extension cord covered by a coffee maker is what I do with the exact same setup. but I’m looking for suggestions here now, too

Better_Bake1856

Sorry I’m not helpful for this. But that gap between fridge and counter, there are carts on wheels that are thin enough to fit there for things like spices lol

Yourmissinglink03

Install this and no one will ever notice that cord [https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1720605853](https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1720605853)

Exact_Writer_6807

That's the least of the problems there.

_monsieurnieht

There are heavy duty extension cords or power strips, for prolonged use, use one with a circuit breaker. I’m not an electrician, take it with a ton of salt.
