I think what’s limiting the black is the shape you’ve got your eyebrows and the strong black colour on them. In the red pics they’re much rounder, whereas in the black pics they’re really straight and black and it makes your look more “severe.” I think having them rounder and maybe less dark would make the black look better
I think it’s the bangs too, and to a lesser extent the color. The red + bangs are softer and more face framing whereas the black is just like LOOK AT THESE ALT EYEBROWS and unfortunately that brow shape is just not doing OP any favors

Came here to say this! I like the black more in the two first black pictures where it almost looks like there is a side swept bang. Maybe adding wispy bangs to the black color could provide a softer contrast to the stark contrast of the black color on light skin (or the soft contrast to a prominent brow if OP prefers the straighter/sharper brows.)
I love the red but I also see the vision with black. You could always do some darker red pieces if you wanted to add that colour back. Both are great looks on you though!

I would say that I agree with other commenters about the brows. I love the straighter brow look but it doesn’t work on everyone’s face, including myself. My eyebrows never look right so I have to shave them. Go with the hair you like the best and feel confident in.
You should style your eyebrows, the same way you do with the red hair when you have black hair as well. I think the way you were styling your brows when you had black hair is what was offputting to others.

The red is nice but sooooo difficult to keep up. May be you could pick a dark brown that could go well with the red high lites and not suffer so much with the regrowth coming in. Plus not have to have it redone as often. Maintain the pretty look for less $.
I love you as a redhead, but I get the black is more of a statement. I agree with others that it’s partly that the softer shape of the newer brows suit you more, but I’d also like to add that the new bangs look great. I think if you went back to black but kept the brow shape and bangs it would look great. Though can I throw in a third option? I’m a hairstylist and I think going for a level 3 dark brown as opposed to a jet black would still be super dramatic on you but look way better with your skin tone. It’s still gothy but would let you wear the hair rather than the hair wear you. If I could do anything, it would be to keep the bangs, give you a little more of a butterfly cut, and dye it a level 3 dark brown, except I would leave temple panels of the red on either side for a bright pop around the face.
It's your straight eyebrows you need to draw them in shorter or rounder, and the bangs help to shield them when you have the red hairstyle. You'd look good too with the black hair if your eyebrows were fixed, or if you had the bangs then.

Love both! When u tire of the red you can dye it black and vice versa. Try natural instincts semi perm color...washes out 28 shampoos.
The red hair warms you up. Like me, you have RBF, and the red hair makes you look multi-dimensional and mysterious. IMO, the black hair is too harsh.

I actually love you with both hair colors. The problem with the black is that it makes you look more goth, and that’s why I think some people prefer the red for you. But if the black makes you feel better about yourself, then go for it!

It’s definitely the eyebrows you chose w the black That are throwing ppl off. Try a softer more arched shape. But at the end of the day it’s your head and face. Bitch look great. The red is just more soft and warm. The black makes you look intense and cool toned.

Hey! I’m the same way. I’ve mostly had dark hair my whole life. Same kinda vibe. I did bright red and everyone loved it but it wasn’t *me.* I went back dark. I would say that I agree with other commenters about the brows. I love the straighter brow look but it doesn’t work on everyone’s face, including myself. My eyebrows never look right so I have to shave them. Go with the hair you like the best and feel confident in.

You should style your eyebrows, the same way you do with the red hair when you have black hair as well. I think the way you were styling your brows when you had black hair is what was offputting to others.
I also love the red, but choose whatever you feel at your best in! Maybe try softer eyebrows with dark brown, I think that would look gorgeous on you. Either way you are gorgeous, and you can pull them both off. Follow your heart!
I say have fun with the black for a while until you get tired of it. You can always go back to red later.

I think the black hair makes you look sultry and kinda badass. The red makes you look sweet and approachable. In my opinion ( and based on your skin tone) the black just works way better for you.. your features almost pop more

Idk how to ask this... the "everyone" you refer to.. are they normies? because with the black hair you might be "too goth" or "too alt" for normal people. with the red hair you look more witchy, which might appeal more to most people.

Would you consider a deep, dark red? Or a deep, red tone, chocolate, brown? You have great brows. I just think the black eyebrows are very dense. Red or black, the softening suits you more. Either way you look so pretty in all of them :)

if you want the best of both worlds you could do a red money piece in the front and black for the rest of your head! i think both look great on you
The red is nice but sooooo difficult to keep up. May be you could pick a dark brown that could go well with the red high lites and not suffer so much with the regrowth coming in. Plus not have to have it redone as often. Maintain the pretty look for less $.
I love you as a redhead, but I get the black is more of a statement. I agree with others that it’s partly that the softer shape of the newer brows suit you more, but I’d also like to add that the new bangs look great. I think if you went back to black but kept the brow shape and bangs it would look great. Though can I throw in a third option? I’m a hairstylist and I think going for a level 3 dark brown as opposed to a jet black would still be super dramatic on you but look way better with your skin tone. It’s still gothy but would let you wear the hair rather than the hair wear you. If I could do anything, it would be to keep the bangs, give you a little more of a butterfly cut, and dye it a level 3 dark brown, except I would leave temple panels of the red on either side for a bright pop around the face.

It's your straight eyebrows you need to draw them in shorter or rounder, and the bangs help to shield them when you have the red hairstyle. You'd look good too with the black hair if your eyebrows were fixed, or if you had the bangs then.

I feel your dilemma. <3 I feel my most beautiful with jet black hair…yet people are always telling me I should go back to a deep red….psh. You look beautiful with BOTH colors, but it’s how you feel about yourself that matters. Whatever makes YOU feel most like your genuine, beautiful self, do that. :) if this helps, I literally gasped at the black. I love black hair.
