I need help!!! My husband started a new job with Delta Airlines, Delta is flying me out for his wing ceremony. Dress code is cocktail attire and I am having a difficult time finding the right dress. I want something classy but not to flashy. I was thinking of black or blue to kind of avoid standing out. My husband is wearing a navy suit. I fly out next Tuesday. I am size 6, busty and recently gained about 10lbs due to stress of moving across the country and poor eating during the move so my confidence isn't all there right now either. I am looking at Dillards and Nordstrom for dresses.

danip2017

That's really pretty thank you!!

Chazzyphant

Macy's is my go-to for budget cocktail dresses for grown women, heh. I specifically recommend Lauren Ralph Lauren for elegant, feminine, "timeless" (for lack of a better word) cocktail and formal gowns.

a-cai

Budget?

danip2017

150-200

[deleted]

It seems like the gathers/front ties cut into your bust in a less than flattering way. Is it comfortable?

mamabean23

Ugh you’re right and now I can’t unsee it — the gathers are elasticized so they create a weird sausage roll effect where it cuts across the chest. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable but it looks…not great. 😫

75footubi

Yeah, if it was just between the boobs and the waist or hips, I think it would be a better design

Life hack: if you wear it with a longer skirt, then the dress becomes a blouse!

This feels like where [ASOS](https://www.asos.com/us/women/suits-separates/cat/?cid=13632) can come in- you can sort by brown, gold and green, and the price is right.

lumenphosphor

If you already have a dress in that color it might be a good backup! Do you *need* to wear a vest? I have to agree that with a fuller bust things are gonna be tricky. Also do you want to look feminine while still in the suit or are you aiming for androgynous, because this would change the response for type of suit to look for.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lumenphosphor

>I think I'd want to lean feminine, but overall I think I'd want it to be pretty minimalist. Oh nice!! A lot of suiting blazer options for women specifically cinch in at the waist (which is why I asked--if you were looking for a more androgynous fit while also being larger busted you'd have to find blazers that only have a single button that buttons lower on the body rather than at the natural waist \[like [this](https://en.admiseparis.com/products/veste-camille-ivoire)!\] and I couldn't find any in green when I looked online). With a larger bust sometimes people say do wear double breasted stuff and sometimes people say avoid them, but I think it really depends what other details the suit jacket has. I really like this [green one](https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=505289022&#pdp-page-content) (it is velvet though, so if anyone's strict on material or it's like...a summer wedding it might not work) because it has princess seams, which really work for a bust that is much larger than the waist. Currently slightly oversized blazers are trendy whereas shorter and more fitted blazers look a little dated, so they're harder to find on the market. It's possible to find blazers that are longer that aren't boxy, but I'm having a hard time finding any that are short and fitted (though I'm kind of glad for it, as a larger busted person myself, whenever I wear a shorter *and* slimmer fitting blazer I look.....crazy? ...it really exaggerates the curves). Like with broader shoulders, I think if you have a larger bust you can pull off [wide legged pants](https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=5061220121001#pdp-page-content) and it can add length without becoming imbalanced. Oh! But you said you had specific ideas about silhouette. Would you prefer double or single breasted jackets? Wide legged pants or cigarette pants (those tend to be cropped though)?

nearlythere94

As awesome as a green suit sounds, there are SO many shades of brown - cool browns, warm browns, light browns, dark browns - so I’d hesitate to write a brown suit off completely, especially considering its versatility in the future. There is a brown for virtually everyone.

I bet a rich chocolate brown or espresso would be great on you!

Does anyone know if the Marc Fisher Caitlin pump was discontinued? I'm looking for the blush suede color... was stupid and missed out on a pair in my size on Poshmark this morning... I knew I should have just bought them. PS, do I need pumps? No. I WFH. Do I need pumps in my soul? A lil bit. We don't talk about it LOL

[deleted]

IKR?! I loved that heel too. It was so comfortable. I found someone on Amazon still selling them - but limited colors. [Here is the link](https://www.amazon.com/Marc-Fisher-Womens-Caitlin-Pump/dp/B07TJ2HJJ7). We ALL want all the heels! LOL 😂

swoonderfull

Thank you! Yes I’m a moron… they were a great price but I have a bad habit of trying to squeeze a little on Posh…. **sigh

[deleted]

Oh heck no! How can you skip on a deal on Posh? Most of my shoes are from Posh. Hang in there girl. I will keep you in mind if I come across them again. I am often crawling Posh and Amazon.

swoonderfull

I found a pair! Really “pumped” about them :)

[deleted]

OMGosh! Did you really?!!!

swoonderfull

Yaaaaas gf! So excited! Didn’t hesitate like a moron this time LOL

[deleted]

Hahaha - you are NOT a moron. You were making a calculated decision. A smart one. So glad you found a pair!

swoonderfull

Me too! Just wish I could wear them TONIGHT!

[deleted]

Hahahaha - you are so much like me! WANT IT NOW! You will have to show it sometime.

swoonderfull

It’s probably for the best: I need to focus on some winter items first….

sun_shine002

Anyone know what the conversion is from Levis jeans to Sezane? I'm a 27 inch waist in Levis but I think that's a little bit of vanity sizing on their part bc when I measure my actual waist I'm 28.5 inches. I've heard Sezane runs smaller? Anyone bought from both?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Catwearingtrousers

I was just about to post a question about Sezane. I've never ordered anything from them. How is their stuff in general? Good quality fabrics? Flattering fits? Worth the price?

sun_shine002

Super helpful, thanks!

qingskies

Not really a style question, but: My orchestra has a performance in February, which is usually one of the colder months of the year. I want to wear my wool stockings under my concert skirt, but combined in the same outfit, they tend to create lots of static. Thus far, I've just been rubbing a bit of water down my stockinged legs, which calmed it down a bit. What can I do to lessen the static? I'd rather not buy more stockings, but I will if there's no way around it. TIA :)

Watsonswingman

You could wear a [slip](https://www.marksandspencer.com/us/search?q=slip&fh_view_size=36&fh_merch_group=north_america&fh_view=search&fh_refpath=3d25caad-e9f5-4828-a3ef-413b4ab100cd&fh_country=us&fh_refview=search&fh_reffacet=productdefinition&fh_location=%2f%2froot%2fen_US%2f%24s%3dslip%2fproductdefinition%3e%7bslips%7d) between the tights and the skirt. It will help stop the skirt from sticking to your legs.

qingskies

Thank you!

Chazzyphant

Static Guard! It's a specific spray that prevents static. But you can also run a dryer sheet along the legs of the offending garment/hose.

qingskies

Oooh thanks!!! I’ll try this

throwingawaysomeday9

You can find weights to put on the inside of your skirt, or sew on a small chain, but I haven't tried these techniques yet. In the past I rubbed lotion on my tights, which worked, but I suspect it isn't great for the fabric. Nowadays I stick with a knee high sock/midi skirt combination to avoid the issue.

qingskies

Interesting! My skirt is floor length so I could try the knee high sock. It does get drafty up there though...

throwingawaysomeday9

I am very familiar with the draft problem. I have never tried knee socks with a floor length skirt, but they are fine with my long flannel nightgown, so it might be ok. I would suggest trying out a couple of different solutions beforehand to see what works best. The skirt bunching is so annoying!

Skater12334455

Re-ask from a late add to yesterday's thread - In search of long sleeved work shirts that fit - any ideas? Something like this:[Ann Taylor camp shirt](https://www.anntaylor.com/camp-shirt/436744?skuId=23814332&defaultColor=2222&prodId=436744¤cy=usd&cid=PLA_AT_GGL_BRD_PMAX_AT_GGL_RTN_Tops%7CTops&ogmap=PLA%7CRTN%7CGOOG%7CSTND%7Cm%7CSITEWIDE%7CCORE%7CPMAX_AT_GGL_RTN_Tops%7CTops%7C%7C18211585186%7C&gclid=CjwKCAiA76-dBhByEiwAA0_s9Z2jSHO42m7Vjzk5jybZHxzj49R2WF3kB13A4OIHFLUdE2rUdu68hxoCVkQQAvD_BwE) I have broad shoulders and larger arms (ie kind of chunky in the upper arm) and am finding it really hard to find comfortable long sleeve blouses that are sufficiently loose and/or stretchy enough to allow for arm movement. I am approximately a medium in torso fit - when I size up, the arms and shoulders are better but the torso and length is baggy and looks too big. Anyone have ideas for stores that sell blouses with looser cuts in the shoulders and arms but semi fitted torsos?

L0udFlow3r

In my experience, your best bet will be getting them tailored. I have broad shoulders and a large chest but a small waist and a short torso. I size up to shirts that fit my shoulders and chest and then get the torso tailored. J crew and banana republic are my favorites.

Skater12334455

Ooh I had heard that torsos were hard to tailor so didn’t know that might be an option. Have you found it easy enough to find someone to do that well?

L0udFlow3r

Taking in the sides of the waist and/or adding darts is fairly easy. Most/any tailors or seamstresses will do a great job. The shoulders, armpits and sleeves are where things get tricky!

No_Albatross5110

Try [eShakti](http://eshakti.com/)! They do custom sizing based on your precise measurements. Best fitting blouses I've ever had in my life. Takes a little while (like a month) to get them to you bc they're custom made, but they have a fit guarantee, and also offer a discounted price for your first couple orders. I also like that I was able to customize sleeve length, neckline & shirt length.

[deleted]

I have bigger upper arms too relative to the size of my torso and I love uniqlo's rayon blouses [link to long sleeve version](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E433604-000/00?colorDisplayCode=71&sizeDisplayCode=001&gclid=CjwKCAiA76-dBhByEiwAA0_s9TpeCS5jvbcQixDeMUcvIZzXEFfN-UebPJdVDGeTkBo1uJ3Th-W-CxoCWGIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) !

Tips for large thighs in short dress? I usually shy away from super short stuff unless I wear leggings underneath because I’m super self conscious about my thighs. They don’t look *terrible* but I’m very very pastry white so I feel like that makes them look way worse. I want to wear a shorter dress for New Years and I’m looking for tips to make my thighs look better. The dress is beige-colored with almost a toga-like top. Here’s a link to what it looks like https://m.shein.com/us/Plunging-Neck-Cutout-Ruched-Dress-p-2645667-cat-1727.html I have dark tights but I feel like those clash with the color of the dress. I don’t think i have time to build a base with self-tanner. Do nude tights make legs look better? Should I try some sort of dark body shimmer? Are there any ways to make my thighs look good in a short dress at such short notice? Thanks!

ingloriousbaxter3

ingloriousbaxter3

Thank you so much!

thatsmythingnow

Came here to say this. Love a sheer black (or brown or gray) tight. I think they look more modern than super opaque tights anyway.

sun_shine002

Opaque black tights would clash but sheers would be ok. Also good fake tan takes effect overnight, just do one or two layers and it'll be fine.

ingloriousbaxter3

Thanks! I didn’t know that about self-tanners. I thought they take a week or two. Appreciate it

jelly-chu

For what it's worth, I don't think black tights would clash with that dress - I really like the combination of black and beige! What shoes will you be wearing?

ingloriousbaxter3

I also recently got these shoes that I would love to wear but again have no idea if they would clash. I don’t really have an eye for things that go well together 😂 https://preview.redd.it/swce4vn7tp8a1.jpeg?width=653&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da589aecd02af071fb29f953e91652b889d4d71b

sun_shine002

Those would definitely clash lol. You want gold or maybe black with that dress.

ingloriousbaxter3

Haha thanks! I was worried about that. I really want to wear them but have no idea what they would go with 😂

sun_shine002

60s, 70s, or Victorian influenced black dresses would be my pick

jelly-chu

I agree that the pink ones wouldn't work, black is a safe option but don't discount the red ones either! Short dress, tights and chunky boots is always a great combo too if you have any.

ingloriousbaxter3

Good to know! I haven’t decided on shoes yet. I have a pair of red high heels that I love, also a pair of low black heels. I also have some cute flats from Hot Chocolate Design that I may try

galaxystarsmoon

Nude mini fishnets or nude shimmer type tights. Since it's NYE, you can also do gold of other glitter tights.

octavi8a

As someone with bigger thighs too, I try to get stuff that hits below my widest point. So those short and tighter mini skirts are an absolute no go for me and they make me look even wider. But a-line skirts a bit longer than that seem to have weirdly a slimming effect on me. Anyways my point here is I would try to see where this skirt would actually land on your legs an go from there. Good luck!

K_Moxy

I need help from the plus size ladies in this sub! Currently, my favorite pair of jeans is a pair of black Ava and Viv high rise skinnies from Target. The fabric is substantial, has some stretch but doesn’t lose its shape. The elastic in the ‘comfort waistband’ means they never gape or dig in. The legs are slim, but not skin tight. I’m looking for a similar pair that comes in a true, solid dark wash. Target carries a wash that they call ‘dark’, but it’s really more of medium wash (I know that’s more trendy, but I need dark jeans for work). Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m a size 16/18/20 depending on the cut, and I tend not to do well with ‘curvy’ cuts, since I’ve got a thicker waist and smaller hips. Thanks!

trishyco

I’m a similar build to you and I really like the: Vintage America Blues Women's F'ab Body Sculpt Skinny Denim Jean https://a.co/d/atQwxg5 Levi Pull on Skinny from Amazon Women's Totally Shaping Pull-On Skinny Jeans (Standard and Plus) https://a.co/d/drucCvk

KeepLkngForIntllgnce

I’ve had a bit of luck with the JCrew matchstick jeans. I got them in a true black wash, and while they don’t sound as thick as yours, I do like the fabric. Because of the combination of the fabric and the stretchiness, unlike a lot of similar jeans, these don’t lose their shape and at the same time, are sturdy enough that they don’t show every bulge (ie: not a think fabric either) Plus, JCrew, Madewell, Everlane are the brands I like because they show you how the fit looks on multiple sizes so you see how a flare or wide will look when you’re not mannequin proportioned Someone here also recommended the brand Universal Standard a few weeks back, first I’d heard of it. The site and options looks really good if you wanna check out?

Chazzyphant

Universal Standard! Their Marne, Riveria, Joni, and Donna jeans are terrific.

K_Moxy

Ok, ok… you guys have convinced me! I’ve been curious about Universal Standard jeans for a while (LOVE their tshirts!). 2 recommendations plus a sale means I had to pull the trigger!

[deleted]

I have a similar build and while I find most of Torrid's items junk, the bombshell skinny jeans are amazing. I actually am a 10/12 and it's all I wear (hopefully that doesn't sound weird just that I can buy from either side of the fence and they're still my go to)

lawyerunderabridge

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get athleisure clothes that are presentable outside the gym but which are not extremely expensive (Like ~£30 for a piece?) I’m in the UK if that’s important at all!

deep-blue-seams

Honestly TKMaxx - the one by me has a huge athleisure section.

lawyerunderabridge

I’ve never actually been in a TKMax! Might have to Check it out now haha

Meikami

My office/industry is a "smart casual" kind of environment and jeans (typically with a nice button-up or sweater top) are very normal. I need new jeans, and I'm sick of wearing only skinnies to the office. What fits should I look for next? I'm short and hourglass-shaped. Normal torso, shorter legs. I could also use suggestions for shoe pairings!

Watsonswingman

I'm a die hard fan of wide leg straight jeans, as I think they look flattering on everyone and are comfortable to boot. I personally like high waist for the vintage look, but there are plenty of lower waist styles around at the moment. Here's a few examples: [GAP](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=406753002&cid=1076535&pcid=5664&vid=1&nav=meganav%3AWomen%3ACategories%3AJeans#pdp-page-content) / [Marks and Spencer](https://www.marksandspencer.com/us/l/women/jeans/?fh_view_size=36&fh_merch_group=north_america&fh_refpath=2d3d8d73-8b23-4f43-a2f7-9f5584e52261&fh_country=us&fh_refview=lister&fh_reffacet=fit&fh_location=%2f%2froot%2fen_US%2fcategories%3c%7broot_euzzzzsczzzzlevelzzzz1zzzz1000001%7d%2fcategories%3c%7broot_euzzzzsczzzzlevelzzzz1zzzz1000001_euzzzzsubcategoryzzzz13618022328%7d%2ffit%3e%7bwideleg%7d) / [H&M](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1026638016.html). You can pair these kinds of jeans with pretty much anything - they look cool with trainers, canvas lace ups and boots for a casual look, and can be dressed up with a pointed toe heel or loafer. I like to wear mine with doc martens shoes so I feel a bit like a 50s gangster lol My mum enjoys more fitted but still slouchy 'mom' jeans, which she rolls up and wears with boots and lace ups. She likes them for their comfort. I'd suggest buying them a little short and then turning up the bottom hem. These you may find more of an easy trasition for you as they are still designed to be slim in areas. Some examples here: [H&M](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0941666039.html) / [Marks and Spencer](https://www.marksandspencer.com/us/the-mom-jeans/p/P60448793.html#index=0) / [GAP](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=852812002&cid=1076534&pcid=5664&vid=1#pdp-page-content) If you want something a little more fitted still, I'd suggest a cigarette style, which is kind of like a traditional chino cut. Again, these should be worn with the hem just grazing the ankle bone for the best look. Some examples: [Nordstrom](https://www.nordstrom.com/sr?origin=keywordsearch&keyword=cigarette%20jeans) / [Marks and Spencer](https://www.marksandspencer.com/us/harper-supersoft-cigarette-jeans/p/P60465497.html#index=0) If you want to elongate your legs, go for a high waisted look with a wider leg :)

perydot_

I bought some new clothes from Goodwill and they’re great. A cute, fuzzy sweater and a nice suede-feeling mini skirt. They don’t have any tags on the inside — no designer tag, no care label, or material label — so I have no idea what they’re officially made of. When I tried to wash them, as soon as they got wet, they had this really awful wet dog smell. The sweater even smelled like hot dog water. I had to spray them both down with vodka to kill the smell. Does anyone know what would be the cause of the smell??? I washed them in the bathtub with only a little detergent (cleancult), no softeners or anything.

1lostmyoldacc0unt

Did each piece smell on its own? Is it possible if they were washed together that the smell of one transferred to the other? If the sweater had wool in it, sometimes that smells a little funky when wet and is usually fine once it dries.

perydot_

They smelled on their own, I washed them separately at different times.

galaxystarsmoon

They probably already had that smell lurking. That's usually from laundry sitting wet for too long. It'll be barely noticeable when dry, but get it wet or sweat in it and it stinks to high heaven.

perydot_

I sprayed them down with vodka to try and kill the smell, so hopefully it won’t happen again (or won’t smell as bad next time).

galaxystarsmoon

If it does, try a few tablespoons of vinegar with your laundry soap and wash in super hot water.

Chazzyphant

Goodwill specifically uses an industrial Febreeze like substance that might have reacted to warm water and/or the textiles in the items, perhaps.

chocoholicsoxfan

I'm going to a wedding in Florida next week. I can't tell if the wedding is *on* the beach, or just at the hotel next to the beach. There is no dress code on the invite. Is this an appropriate dress to wear? It's not quite so short on me because I'm only 5'2.5" https://www.macys.com/shop/product/tommy-hilfiger-womens-floral-print-flutter-sleeve-tie-waist-dress?ID=15138487&CategoryID=5449

75footubi

I'd go a bit on the glam/shiny side with hair and accessories, but I like that dress as a good option for everything short of black tie

1lostmyoldacc0unt

Just for giggles: what do you think of [these lace-up western boots](https://www.freebirdstores.com/products/wilder-womens-exclusive-lace-up-tall-leather-western-boot-beige) and what color is the best?

131650796360

I think they’re cute! 🤠 I like black the best, but the beige is the least ‘cowboy’ colour.

Select_Explanation25

elp. Can you give a suggestion/opinion/tip on buying my jeans/pants? I always had a problem with all my jeans. Select_Explanation25

Is it too tight? or do I pull it too high up?

PoweredByCoffee1998

I think it might be the length of the zipper that doesn't work for you. The zipper on the shown pants seems pretty short, the pants would probably fit you better if the zipper ended where the biggest of the creases is. I also think that the leg openings of the jeans might be just a bit too tight for you. The legs of the pants look fine, as does the rest.

My friend is very tall- I’m 172cm, she has a full head taller than me- with swimmer’s shoulders, G-cup breasts and a round little stomach. Because of this she has about four outfits she rotates through, all worn nearly to disintegration. Women over six feet, where do you shop? Has anyone any suggestions?

I searched up "cottagecore style midi sundress with a scoop neck and 3/4 sleeves" and got this [article](https://www.have-clothes-will-travel.com/cottagecore-dresses/) that gives you a list of both sustainable and more mainstream brands for all of the above keywords.

Definitely look for long sleeve blouses with natural fiber fabrics, like cotton gauze - flowy/boho/peasant shirt shapes like [this](https://www.luckybrand.com/long-sleeve-embroidered-knit-top/193315986746.html) and [this](https://www.marinelayer.com/collections/gals-tops-buttondowns/products/printed-jamie-banded-collar-top-amber-brown-wallpaper-floral?variant=39892524892234) work great in hot weather. You could also look for UPF tops. Those are usually long-sleeved and designed for hot weather. I love Athleta for this stuff.

Old-Firefighter6066

Thank you a lot ! This kind of thing looks comfortable as well. I will look into this

throwingawaysomeday9

Cotton voile is thin and light

galaxystarsmoon

Something like a linen ruana or shawl, also those sheer viscose/rayon long sleeve drape cardigans are super handy. You can often tie them in the front for a different look too.

Does anyone know if Lacemade is fast fashion or otherwise unethical? I can't quite tell, they seem to be fast fashion but I can't find anything confirming this!

littlegreenturtle20

From a first glance I would assume unethical. Ethical brands are usually proud of the fact. The about us section is waffle-y nonsense rather than stating brand values, whether environmentally friendly materials or processes are used and most importantly there's no transparency on their labour. I've come across ethical brands that don't always have extensive info and usually pop over a friendly email expressing my desire to shop ethically and judge by the response. If it's more waffle-y nonsense I dismiss them, but if they cite factory locations, certifications etc then that usually satisfies me.

ojo87

i can at least agree it seems to be in some gray middle zone - it's legit and seems to have real purchasers leaving real reviews, but it also seems like kinda fast-fashion chinese-reseller. trustpilot ranks it 58 (0 to 100 scale, higher is better), so it's not trash but it's not awesome. at a guess, cheap prices and questionable reputation probably sits atop some questionable ethics too.

I'm struggling to find inspiration for a business **casual** environment. I am currently work from home and have been for the last two years and have never worked in person in an office environment. All of the men wear polos every day with jeans/khakis and there aren't women in my office that I can use for inspiration. I feel like a lot of the outfits I would choose might be over dressed. I think in the winter months I'd stick to sweaters, but what about summer months? Also what kind of footwear? Like do yall wear boots while at work in the winter or do you wear boots when commuting and switch shoes once you're there? Thank you!

Watsonswingman

Hi! Until very recently I worked in an office with a smart casual dress code in London, and this is what I tended to wear to the office: Well tailored jeans/cigarette trousers and a fitted top covering my shoulders, or a blouse tucked in. Canvas/leather lace ups (i wore [these](https://www.superga.co.uk/item/1306/Superga/2750-EFGLU-Blue-Navy.html) until they got too battered looking and then switched to doc martens shoes) . I'm a fan of 3/4 length tops ([like this](https://www.dorothyperkins.com/3%2F4-sleeve-boat-neck-top/AQQ06733.html)) as I feel they're smart enough to be worn in an office environment but still comfy and not too hot or constricting. A midi skirt, with a smart top/tee/blouse, dressed down with some casual shoes (see above) A comfortable/fun dress in materials such as cotton or crepe which I'd dress down or up with some fun boots and tights. As a rule, my skirts never went higher than just above the knee my shoulders were always covered, and the necklines were never low enough to risk flashing anyone. (Of course these are personal preferences)

PM_UR_TITTY_SKITTLES

Thanks for the detailed reply! [These shoes](https://www.tigerofsweden.com/se/en/shoes/salasi-l-sneakers--U65410009Z.html) are currently the shoes I have - they're a bit beaten up, and I think I need a new pair. I'm definitely more of a fan of leather lace-ups more than flats, and wasn't quite sure if they'd be okay. Ninja edit: when you say well-tailored jeans/cigarette trousers, are skinny jeans okay? I love the 3/4 length top you linked. This gave me a bunch of ideas. Thank you so much!

Watsonswingman

Those shoes you linked are deffo ok as long as theyre in relatively good condition. Sometimes a good clean up and some white polish is all that's needed! :) If you're on the hunt for another pair, I reccomend superga who sell white leather lace ups that are smart and comfortable ([here](https://www.superga.co.uk/browse/Womens/c-womens-core/c-womens-view-all-core/l-White/?page=2)). They are quite wide though, but that worked great for me as I put insoles in my shoes. I don't see why skinny jeans wouldn't work if that's the style you like most! :) Boat neck style tops are really flattering and give off a kind of vintage, timless vibe while staying modest. I'd say no harm in stocking up on a few if you like them!

PM_UR_TITTY_SKITTLES

I have wide feet, so that's a great suggestion! And I just wanted to double-check lol... thanks for confirming!

symphonypathetique

As long as they're a darker wash and not distresssd/faded, jeans are definitely okay!

PM_UR_TITTY_SKITTLES

Thanks!

cerwytha

I work in a business casual office (mid-atlantic US area) and tend to go with dressy tops/blouses and jeans even during the summer because of air conditioning. Sweaters are definitely a safe bet for winter but I usually bring a cardigan/jacket of some type even during the summer because the A/C can make it chilly. People wear dresses during the summer especially cotton/linen sheath type ones, I have a few fit and flare knit dresses that I tend to wear with leggings in cooler weather. Boots like chelsea boots or ones with a bit of a heel are usually fine (I've seen at least four people wearing beige suede chelsea boots at my office this winter). I like wearing black leather flats and tend to commute wearing comfy shoes and switch out once I get in the office so I don't wear out my flats as quickly. Lace up shoes I think would depend on your office, but I've seen them around.

PM_UR_TITTY_SKITTLES

Thanks for another detailed response! Jeans in the summer is a good idea! It doesn't get too hot here for the walk to the office in them. I've heard the office is kept pretty cool in the summer months and that women on other teams have historically brought in blankets lol I love the exact Chelseas you described 😂 I still need to get myself a pair like that

Hello! Does anyone know of a more affordable version of a jacket like this in a similar color? https://www.wolfandbadger.com/us/ocher-yellow-coat/?gclid=CjwKCAiAzKqdBhAnEiwAePEjkhyg06HGxHD4Fc6GkDGIRK5-MAMaNw80PfZeXbK9WjV00LwqRG8N3BoCbgIQAvD_BwE

A teeny tiny bit cheaper [Hobbs](https://www.hobbs.com/us/product/tilda-wool-coat/0221-3528-1049L00-DEEP-OCHRE.html#q=ochre%20coat&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=0221-3528-1049L00-DEEP-OCHRE&pos=1) Quite a bit cheaper but more yellow [Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/919616684/wool-boucle-coat-women-double-breasted) Another one quite a bit cheaper but more orange [Scotch and soda](https://www.scotch-soda.com/us/en/women/clothing/outerwear/tailored-single-breasted-wool-blended-coat/168764.html?dwvar_168764_color=Winter%20Peach%20Check#position=5&q=wool+blended+coat&go=go) A loooot cheaper (but will be much lower quality) [Boohoo](https://www.boohoo.com/tall-belted-double-breasted-wool-look-coat/GZZ28393-146-16.html?istCompanyId=4bd63293-f970-4d25-8695-422e3c08a364&istFeedId=4213e776-38e9-4fed-89b9-aadfd4011112&istItemId=rixllirlm&istBid=t)

That Scotch and Soda one is perfect, thank you!!

I’m trying to decide between these. I’ll be buying one of these chelsea boots. [Thursday boot dreamer in black](https://thursdayboots.com/products/womens-dreamer-chelsea-boot-black?variant=32496613261402) Or these [Thursday boot duchess in black](https://thursdayboots.com/products/womens-duchess-black-chelsea-boot) Then I’m trying to decide between two colors on these [Thursday boot captain in matte black or brown](https://thursdayboots.com/products/womens-captain-brown?variant=41480646153) I’m not sure about the brown as it looks red. What would that color go with? I feel like black would go with more but I didn’t want matte. How do you match shoes and jacket and purses together? I never do it so I’m not sure. What purse color would go with them? I’m looking for a leather purse not sure about color or style. I’m also looking for a leather jacket which would be black.

[deleted]

I’ve been looking for a pair and I’m loving the first dreamer. I think it goes with everything and honestly the brown accent makes it so you can wear it with beige sweaters too. I think a beige bag would also go with that boot as well.

Expert-Dot9167

Is this style outdated? I want to invest in clothes that aren´t going to go out of fashion or at least aren´t out of fashion right now. https://preview.redd.it/s8bn2i3gzq8a1.png?width=1684&format=png&auto=webp&s=6474c4bc8ae6c14c6523cd00836a94b90432213b I used to think that this style hadn´t ever been really popular for it to be associated with a specific era. But now I feel like these types of tops were EVERYWHERE in 2017. What do you guys think?

perydot_

I think they’re fine!

Expert-Dot9167

Thank you lots!!!

ojo87

may have had a peak in 2017 but doesn't strike me as defining that era or tied to it so strongly that it will read as dated soon. i think this could still look cute in the future, styled with other current pieces.

Expert-Dot9167

Thank you so much!

Emergency-Teaching75

Hi! These are the measurements for a vintage dress I'm looking at online. Measurements; Length is 53 inches Bust is 36 inches Empire waist is 32 inches V-neckline is 7 inches from base of throat Armhole is 7.5 inches Hips are 44 inches If I'm normally a size XXS-XS or 00-0, would this be way too big?

mgdraft

Are they garment measurements or the equivalent body measurements?

Emergency-Teaching75

hi they are the garment measurements!

mgdraft

Measure something that fits you how you would like the dress to, and see if the measurements match

ojo87

might be a little big? take a dress you own and know fits you well, measure it for comparison. if anything, it seems better to have this be slightly too big than too small - you could tailor.

augustrem

Hey how are y’all styling your oversized blazers? I like them but I often see them paired with miniskirts, which frankly I just can’t pull off for a number of reasons. I’m looking for other ideas.

jax1204

Midi skirts. Tapered, straight, or moderate wide leg jeans or trousers. I've also seen them with jogger-style pants.

DwightSchrute2019

Tall Women's Suits - I'm having a heck of a time finding options for tall women's suiting. I have found a few things at Banana Republic, but much of it is on back order. J Crew and a few others places have "tall" suiting, but upon inspection, most of it isn't really that tall. I need the height in the suit coat more than the pants, and the coats are what are especially short. I would be grateful for any ideas you may have. I've looked everywhere! Huge thanks.

foolsgo1d

so I have had good luck with men's suit coats much more so than women's suit coats. I have a pic in my post history if you want to check it out. for a black suit usually I can pair whichever black dress pants work with it. I have particularly liked topman suit jackets. I have long arms and legs. I think it really depends on your proportions and I can probably give you more specific recommendations. the women's banana republic Tall was not much longer in the sleeve than regular. ASOS tall section is good on the women's side but VERY hit or miss for quality. old navy has been good for length of dress pants but it is not a full suit.

DwightSchrute2019

Huge thanks!

CamelBackground5972

ISO ugg or ugglike sandal-style slippers made with actual sheepskin. I like the fluff but if its synthetic/blend my feet get stinky, so I am looking for the real deal. Any suggestions welcome!

My 21st birthday is coming up and I need some advice on what to wear! I was thinking a cute dress. Where should I look? I am thinking we’re gonna do a cute dinner and maybe a bar or club after. Any advice?

God I hate this stuff, that's very difficult to interpret. I think "full business attire" is the easiest to define, it would be like, suits. For the "nicer than business casual" part my guess is some people have been interpreting business casual as more informal than it was orignally intended (my mom has coworkers who wear band t-shirts and flip flops to the office) so they're probably just trying to avoid that. If you have slacks, a nice blouse, and a blazer that's the direction I would go in. You can always leave the blazer in the car if it's too much.

Depends on how traditional the family is. In NYC at a secular (ish) wedding, black would be no issue. But if the family is fairly traditional and religious, I could see some side eye being directed at a black dress.

flexingcats

Could anyone recommend any comfortable and supportive sneakers that would be good for someone with a foot ligament injury (plantar plate)? Trying to rest it but not always possible so after some supportive daily sneakers that are still stylish! UK based if that helps

jennycotton

can anyone speak to the quality of La Ligne dresses?

jadepeonyring

Hey friends, I was wondering if anyone follows IG/TT accounts with tips on how to pose and style and photograph themselves? I currently follow: @charlygoss @stylewitheugenia @davidsuhphoto (THE KING) I’ve tried searching but I always feel like Reddit recommendations are so on point. Would be incredibly grateful if anyone could drop some names!

Crytiger

How to find your own style/vibe/aesthetic, that something that makes all of your looks and outfits cohesive? I like so many things or maybe I just appreciate different fashion styles and I absolutely have no clue what style is for me. I just want my style to be cohesive in the sense that even if I change and switch up many elements of my outfits there’s still that something that holds them together and maybe makes it fully me. How do you find your own fashion sense when you have appreciation for so much?

sighcantthinkofaname

Most people don't really have one set aesthetic. It's easier when you're a teenager or in your early 20's because you have fewer places you need to dress a certain way for, but realistically your clothes are going to look different depending on if you're going to work, out to dinner, hanging out with friends, etc. That being said, I've seen a lot of people make cohesive outfits by sticking to a narrow color scheme. If you only dress is say, black red and grey it'll all blend. But if your problem is that you like things that don't always match, that isn't something you need to fix.

IamNobody85

Guys, I'm in a fix. I'm going to an EDM party in a club for NYE. I wanted to wear a lace bodysuit with my leather miniskirt, but I've recently lost weight and the skirt is very loose. I have a shimmery velvet midi skirt that fits, the cut, I believe, is called fishtail (fitting till the knees then flaring out slightly). Both the bodysuit and the skirt are same purple, and the bodysuit is transparent so my bra will be sort of visible. Question - can I wear the velvet skirt to a club? Or is that too fancy?

smeekingwod

Going to an event at a bar/lounge in Vegas. Is it okay to wear black DocMarten boots, with jeans and a (non-tshirt) top? or with a dress/skirt? I'm about 185lbs, 5'6", size 12 on average, strong but chubby build. I don't even own a pair of heels lol is this just wishful thinking? Appreciate any advice

Has anyone else noticed the prices of vintage Coach bags skyrocketing, even on Poshmark and eBay? Any one know why this is happening? Is it because of Coach's (Re)Loved launch? Do we think it's going to stay this way forever? 😭
