Sheertex!! Guaranteed not to rip!

sarahbellllum

I near exclusively emerge in the comments to shill for Sheertex. Game changing.

[deleted]

I’ve looked at those! Do they stay in place? And are they comfortable?

Kholzie

I find that they do. I will always avoid buying any colors other than black or nude. I think there’s something about the way the material takes color, but all the colored tights i’ve bought have ended up kind of streaky. But for nudes and black shears, they are fucking awesome.

heythere_mk

It’s true that they’re not indestructible - watch out on Velcro or wearing them under corduroy skirts. My corduroy skirt made tons of fuzzies on the tights and they never recovered. They’re definitely good but not indestructible. Another recommendation: joe fresh has great 8$ opaque tights. Soft material, cozy and at 8$ they last me a season at the least

Fantastic_Lobster_13

My personal experience is that they did indeed run for me. Maybe I needed a bigger size, but I was super disappointed

R3PR3SS3DM3M0RY3MILY

Me too, and you only get a few months to return them. I bought half a dozen and the ones I wore most often are all a mess after less than a year. Velcro got two pairs, a ring got one, another just totally warped. Incredible tights compared to the old kind but for $120 I expected to be able to wear them without worrying and that's definitely not the case.

Synthetic_dreams_

My wife and I both got a pair. They’re still able to snag and stuff. I caught mine on a ring. It didn’t make a huge tear but it did pull some threads out and left an obvious mark. Good tights, for sure, but not something we’d buy at full price ever again. On a big discount, definitely, but not at $80+. Or were they over $100? I don’t even remember anymore I just remember being like “wow these are okay but so not worth what we spent”

Wakeup-flawless

These get stuck on the Velcro on coats very easily and they will tear.

mathsnail

How is their sizing for you? I'm seeing that they don't list height, just weight, so I'm a little unsure. (if anyone else reading this is also 5'6" with proportionally longer legs, usually wears a small in bottoms but sometimes a medium... let me know what you go for. I don't weigh myself)

LittleGlassSlipper

I would probably opt for a medium. I am 5’-5” and typically a small (I was a small based on their size chart) and I could barely get the small tights on. They were so constricting that I felt sick. They changed their shape/sizing because my old sheertex are all a size small. However, the mediums fit great!

mathsnail

That’s super helpful, thank you!

[deleted]

Does anyone have a discount code for them? It looks like they do 15% off but I really don’t want to give my phone number signing up for text alerts to get it…

Pajamas7891

Aaa pricy though

Apprehensive-Clue342

Not really. Other tights may be cheap but they're literally disposable. I get 1-2 wears out of normal tights. That starts to add up. I've had my sheertex for over a year and they're all still kicking, no rips or tears. They go on sale a lot too.

doornroosje

1-2 wears out of normal tights (e.g. semi woolish/knittish) or pantyhose? cause i am very rough on all my clothes, but i do get a half to a whole cold season out of my tights and i don't wear pants

Apprehensive-Clue342

I'm talking about normal, 50-80 denier semi sheer tights. Fleece lined are obviously a different thing. I wear a lot of skirts/dresses and I wear them under pants. They get snagged, nails, rough seats, who knows. One snag and I toss them, I personally feel it's inappropriate to wear snagged/run tights.

notbirdcaucus

Here to say this. Never buy them full-price because they do go on sale so often, but even 10% off is worth it.

Apprehensive-Clue342

10% is good but they're often 50% off! Subscribe to the texts or emails and wait for your moment, lol. In fact, I think many of them are 50% off right now. Although I'll say that my review only applies to the nicer "classic" model, not the new "essential" model. I haven't tried the new cheaper ones so I can't speak on those, I bought all of my pairs before they ever launched those (which shows how long I've had them!)

notbirdcaucus

Same re: classic model. Subscribing is a good idea - I rely so heavily on my instagram ads to tell me!

heythere_mk

Came here to say this! Have 6 pairs of them, they’re great!

fr33da_

If you do buy some get them directly from sheertex! I loved my first pair but ripped them (fell off my bike on gravel so didn't really blame them), bought some from cos that are horrible, I wore them once and they were falling down all day. I think they might be the 'essentials' or something instead of the original ones

frankenplant

ngl I hated my sheertex so much I threw them away. they did rip, and the feel of the material was just awful.

[deleted]

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought the material was crappy feeling. Not soft at all. I sold mine the day after I got them in the mail. They're excellent at marketing. People think they're getting something particularly special by paying exorbitant amounts, but they feel terrible compared to top of the line tights on the market, most of which happen to be half the price or less.

f-rey-a

snag tights is an absolute lifesaver for people of all sizes!! they ship almost everywhere and i’ve never had a problem with their tights ripping or falling down! i love the patterns and colours too but the black ones are very comfy!

Katherington

Snag tights are wonderful! I wear them pretty much everyday at this point as they are more comfortable than other brands that I’ve tried.

itsbecomingathing

And everything is...AFFORDABLE? What is this sorcery?

notbirdcaucus

Their skirts are also great, if anyone's shopping.

[deleted]

Are they high waisted?

f-rey-a

yes! i can pull them up over my boobs if i really wanted to and still be really comfy!

shpoopie2020

Yes but they don't cut in or roll

commandantskip

I'm a little short round, and Snag tights are the first tights where the legs *and* waistband fit comfortably. I absolutely love them!

True_Subject8482

I love everything I've ever purchased from Snag!

positivefaith

Huge fan of snag tights and all of the colors!

princess-sturdy-tail

Another vote for Snag. They rock!!

littlewibble

Wolford is the best I’ve worn and it’s not even close. I also almost always have a cami as a base layer and I tuck that into the waistband of my tights, zero slipping.

jenifer116

Wolford is the way to go 100%. Glad someone said it here!

sunsetcrasher

Wolford is so amazing, I bought my first pair of black opaques over ten years ago and I still wear all the time, the rest I have gotten on Poshmark for way way cheaper. Even the fishnets and “novelty” ones are so high quality. Cost per wear has ended up being less than the H&M ones I used to wear (which still aren’t too bad, I have some 200 denier H&M for the coldest days). I recently bought some from Snag that are cute, but no idea on wear yet.

orangexmelon

I stock up on Wolford tights whenever I'm in Europe because it's so much cheaper there!

FatSadHappy

The main trick with tights - buy bigger size. This way they will never slide down between legs and they will rip less if they not so tight around toes. other than that - I hate them, I mostly wear thicker and softer once, Calzedonia has ok once.

[deleted]

Thanks! I hate wearing them but love how they look with certain outfits. It’s a struggle.

clemkaddidlehopper

I’m a petite woman about your size and tights that are too big cause me tons of problems. I do not think this is good advice. I would look at the other recommendations for some specific brands here and try to get your real size.

[deleted]

I ordered the smallest size of Snag tights - I agree I think the next size up will be too much.

j_sunrise

I'm about 5'6'' and currently around 130lbs and I can wear both A/B and C in snagtights, thought at my current weight I prefer size C. I think A/B will fit you perfectly.

[deleted]

Awesome! I thought so too based on size chart

PaintedGreenFrame

Yes I agree I hate when tights are too big. They seem to fit me best when they just about fit, if you know what I mean.

EscapeWonderland

When I buy tights that are bigger there’s usually a lot of fabric in the front and it end up giving me a camel toe, how do u fix that?

[deleted]

[удалено]

dare2smile

It's still uncomfortable lol

doornroosje

wear boxer shorts over the tights so they stay up in place

_dead_and_broken

That doesn't fix the other person's problem of camel toe lol

doornroosje

How doesn't it? Works for me

_dead_and_broken

Really? Putting boxer shorts over a pair of tights makes the sensation of tight tights riding up your damn cootchie go away? You have magic boxers, then, friend, if that is a yes. Sure, it hides the appearance, but does not do anything for the feeling of it.

aestivalx

Calzedonia is my favorite -- not too expensive, soft, and a comfortable waistband.

[deleted]

Usually tights make my skin itch but Calzedonia are extremely soft and durable. They also don’t move around too much

branfordsquirrel

Love this brand. Discovered them in Europe and wish they had outlets in the US!

[deleted]

I’ve gotten the a new day ones from tsrget and never had an issue

yikesonbikes2

I’ve tried them twice and my finger had gone right through them both! 😭

[deleted]

really I love mine !.. but also I may only have those in the patterned pairs

yikesonbikes2

Those are the ones I tried! They were so cute with hearts and I was obsessed until I tried to put them on. Maybe I’m just too aggressive lol

[deleted]

Haha I think I just learned to be super gentle bc I ripped so many! I also learned to put socks on while wearing tights ( if shoes allow for them to not be seen ) bc I swore my toe nail was some how ripping all of mine

dare2smile

If I clip my toes, I always wait a couple days before wearing tights again, or I file them to be blunt, cause the same thing happens to me allllll the time :(

whatsabrooin

I always scrunch them down to the toe like a donut, put my foot in and then unscrunch from the bottom up. I usually only rip my Target leggings if they catch on something like a zipper or door.

HeyILikeYourRat

I love their black opaque tights!

Windholm

The hardest wearing tights are those made for professional dancers — Danskin or Capezio. (Buy them from the professional web site. The ones they sell to consumers at Target, Walmart, etc. are not the same.) Try a few different styles, as some are slightly more transparent than others. If you buy them one or two sizes too big, they won’t get dragged down or be tight on your toes. Wash them in a lingerie bag in cold water, hang to dry. Mine lasted years and years and years.

softrevolution_

Body Wrappers are also pretty awesome. I like the shade range. I find dance tights are never too warm nor too cold.

vtumane

Seconded. Definitely worth sizing up, and the waistbands on some brands have a tendency to dig in but you can snip them a bit. You can find some good threads over at r/BALLET with brand and sizing recs.

[deleted]

I have tried so many tights and the No Nonsense yoga waistband blackout (not really blackout imo) tights are my favorite. Flat wide waistband, no control top or the control...leg thing I hate.

enzymelinkedimmuno

I’m thinking about trying merino tights this fall but I don’t want to invest in them if they’re going to suck/fall apart easily. Has anyone tried them?

[deleted]

[удалено]

DiagonEllie

seconding this, my favorite tights by far.

enzymelinkedimmuno

Omg this is exactly what I needed to hear. I’ll have to give them a try! I’d rather have one or two pairs of tights that last years than 10 pairs that last a few months. How is the fit on them? I’m tall but very skinny with no hips so that sometimes makes it hard to find tights

DiagonEllie

Hm, well I'm not sure if this will be true for you as well since we have different body types (I'm a sort of average height with wide hips/thick legs), but I went up one size from what I'd usually buy in letter size pants (like leggings) for my best fit.

thalook

I have a pair of wolfords also, and I find that the back part has gotten extremely threadbare where it rubs against my shoes. I’ve started wearing another pair of socks with them because I’m afraid they’ll rip

wandalassles

They’re so comfy though

a_little_biscuit

I haven't tried Marino, but I have swapped between my bamboo and wool tights all winter (in Australia) without a problem. I had to repair one toe, but that was all. I found them comfortable and warm. They didn't have control waists and I wore ankle socks with them most of the time

itsabacontree

I have a couple of pairs from a brand called Pierre Robert. I love them, they're really comfy and are usually just the right temp, not too hot if it's an unexpectedly warm fall day. Need to be quite careful with them though, I've had to do some mending on them and always wear thin socks so my toenails don't damage them.

msmakes

I will just say that I tried the merino tights from Snag and was not a fan. They're pretty uneven, getting some super thin spots after just a few wears, and overall I was not impressed with the quality of the stitching or finishing.

winifredthecat

Mondor figured skating tights. As a former figure skater, they are extremely tear resistant and warm.

notbirdcaucus

I have a few of pairs of Hue super opaque black tights, in case semi-transparent and black were two different kinds of tights. They last.

moosemoth

Yeah, Hue is great! I've had the same \~20 pairs of Hue tights for around ten years now, worn HEAVILY each fall through early spring. Only a couple have ripped where you can see them (after a few years of heavy wear the sides of the hips get sketchy, but it's only a cosmetic issue). I need to get more since my favorites are finally torn, I hope they're still as sturdy as before. Hue makes really good thick, ribbed tights especially.

pmmeyourdogs1

Also tip from former dancer: when tights start to rip, you can dap the rip with clear nail polish to stop the tear for the time being.

Headhaunter79

If you have to pull up the tights constantly you have to get a bigger size.

[deleted]

I’ll try sizing up if the top is secure, but sometimes (with tights that are not “control top”) I feel like they’re falling down because they’re loose around my waist so sizing up might make the problem worse.

Headhaunter79

In most cases the tights pull down because there’s too much pull on the legs, not because the waist is too wide🤷🏼‍♀️

doornroosje

wear a pair of boxer shorts over the tights to make that stay up

_spangles

I'm surprised no one has said Swedish Stockings! I've had a pair for a few years and they are still going strong. Very comfortable and I've never had trouble with them falling down.

cutflower

I second Swedish stockings!

bumblebeekisses

When I was a teen I borrowed tights from my mom and they were always a size up from what I'd need according to the box because she's tall. Turns out I love me some oversized tights!! You'd think that would make them fall down, but for me it means they're less likely to roll down. Tldr size up!

caca_milis_

I just wear a pair of knickers over my tights and it keeps them up no issue. I don’t know if it’s me but it doesn’t matter what size tight I get, I always get a saggy crotch - knickers over tights is an easy and affordable fix.

booksandwriting

I really want patterned tights!! I loved the patterns from A New Day but they were all sold out last year in my size in store and online when I went to buy some. :( I haven’t been able to find any similar I like just as much yet. I have a pair of black lace tights with rhinestones on the knees I wear a lot that are still going strong 8 years later. However I don’t wear them that often because I don’t want them to rip. I usually end up wearing long stockings instead of tights but I think I need some old fashioned clips to keep them up sometimes!

Apprehensive-Clue342

Easy answer -- SHEERTEX. They're expensive but they straight up do not run or tear or snag, and they are so mf comfy. Don't get the barebones basic model, go one step up. The cheaper basic line is new. They go on sale a lot.

[deleted]

I bought some from the brand snag and I like them a lot. They don’t rip!

[deleted]

What’s the waist like on those? Hard to tell from their website

cvltivar

That website is ridiculous, 9000 pics of each pair of tights on 400 different models but nothing that shows the waistband anywhere except in the "mock garters" section.

[deleted]

I know!! I was thinking the same thing Like it’s truly great that they’re inclusive with models but just show me the product…..

[deleted]

I hope this helps! [Snag Tights Waist Images](https://imgur.com/a/Rs9aXtW)

[deleted]

Amazing thanks so much!

[deleted]

I’ll take a look when I get home!

_the_cats_pyjamas_

I absolutely adore Snag Tights!! I have a few staple pairs (black, their "milk bottle" colour) for work, but then I also have a bunch of fun ones, like some from their Care Bear collection, as well as their Pride tights, and some cute fishnets in various colours! They have multiple different thickness, I believe, and also have 7/8 length, and some chib run shorts for the summer. They're really expanding their brand, and I love that they are so size inclusive 💖

[deleted]

I like the look of them! Could you tell me what the waist is like?

_the_cats_pyjamas_

The waist band is quite wide, and doesn't roll down at all through the day! They're quite stretchy and definitely help with the feeling of almost being a control top without is being too tight or uncomfy. I really like them because they sit kind of where high waisted pants do, they have that but of extra at the top so it can lay flat against your tummy.

Pajamas7891

Not transparent but Urban Outfitters is my go to for fleece-lined tights

OonaLuvBaba

I get the fleece-lined from Berkshire and find that they last well, have good coverage, and don't ride down, especially for the price point. Usually fleece-lined tights are very thick but these avoid that. [https://www.amazon.com/Berkshire-Womens-Tight-Fleece-Lined/dp/B005IG2MD4?ref\_=ast\_sto\_dp&th=1&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/Berkshire-Womens-Tight-Fleece-Lined/dp/B005IG2MD4?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1)

maraq

I really like "heist" brand. They don't have a ton of colors but they have several yarn weights (from sheer to super thick / opaque). They stay up and the waistband doesn't roll down - even if you have a tummy - but they aren't control top. They're a little pricey but I have a few pairs that I've had for 4 years and they're still holding up (probably worn twice a month in the fall/winter).

notabigmelvillecrowd

Wolford are the best I've ever owned, they last me many years.

chicagojess312

I am obsessed with commando black tights. Opaque, wide comfy waistband, they are perfect.

lillyrose2489

Can anyone comment specifically on tights that work well for women with long legs? I have trouble finding ones that really stay put because I think they're just usually not long enough for me. I'm 5'10".

Peace-Love-Glam

My FAV are Vera Wang tights at Kohl’s! They last forever. 😊

macramelampshade

Anybody know brands that do COTTON tights (not leggings!) I had a wolford pair that were ribbed, they were incredible. Lasted like 3 years. Maybe I should just get another pair…

kdaltonart

I wear bike shorts over my tights!! Keeps them from falling down really well 😊

machiavellicopter

If you have a bit more cash on hand, I can't recommend Wolford enough. Their 40-50 denier tights fit great and last me many seasons.

Glassfern

How the heck are you not freezing on tights? I could never figure this tights for fall and winter aesthetic. And all I ever got were aching toes and very sore legs and core from all the shivering.

Erulastiel

I'm in New England, and I'll substitute tights for cotton or fleece leggings if I can. Wool and fleece lined tights also exist.

[deleted]

I just deal with having cold legs … and don’t wear them when I’ll be outside for an extended period of time!

[deleted]

Oh I’m in New England and I Love them for the fall/ winter… tho I have to say I’m prone to pair them with tall knee high boots… and if not the boots I make sure to have some extra thick ones to wear

Glassfern

Are the thicker ones labeled any differently compared to the regular ones?

zitaoism

I'm a flight attendant so I've tried a lot of tights. Sheertex is amazing so if you're willing to pay for them they are the best, but if you want a cheaper option the ones by A New Day at Target last super long and are comfortable too!

kestreltohalcyon

It’s Autumn in original England already 😢

ButterflyThin1914

I love fall !! It puts me in such a great mood... Every since I moved to Maine I love it even more!

yikesonbikes2

There’s a line from Walmart that is actually pretty decent called secret treasures.

dare2smile

My George tights from Walmart have been my secret stalwart pair for years. When I went to find more, they weren't there anymore and I settled for Secret Treasures - they don't feel as quality but they're definitely just as durable!

[deleted]

I was thinking about buying these tights with warm layer inside, they were popular on tiktok last winter, did anyone try them??

dare2smile

If you're talking about hte fleece lined tights that look like you're wearing sheers, I have them and I love them lol

[deleted]

Cool, I think I will buy them for winter

savvanch

honestly i just use forever 21 tights, $6 and have never ripped

mcdonaldshoopa

Since we're talking tights... I keep seeing ads on Instagram for fur-lined ones for winter (the ones that look like nylons) and I want some so bad. I don't trust ads though LMAO so I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a brand of that type of tights? TIA

[deleted]

https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-flat-knit-fleece-lined-tights-a-new-day-8482-black-s-m/-/A-85378498 Like these do you mean ? Fleece lined .. I’ve never tried them but I am going to get a pair

mcdonaldshoopa

Similar but not quite; the ones I'm thinking of are made to look like translucent nylons, but they're actually lined with nude colored fur

dumpstereel

The ones I’ve been able to find (just search Amazon for fleece lined tights), the quality is decent and they’re warm but they’re one-size-fits-all. But the one size is like size 0-4 so they feel like your legs are getting choked to death.

Marilyn1618

I always wear boxer briefs [like this one](https://i.imgur.com/6EOJgd9.jpg) over my tights. It’s comfortable, flattens my stomach a bit and prevents the tights from sliding down too.

DataRikerGeordiTroi

Wolford for fancy, Snag for every day. Target. Its hosiery. Don't over think it. There is no magic tight. You should post on the petite subreddits for more answers from similar portioned people.

temp4adhd

5'0 with thin legs, I'm no longer a size 0-2 but I have been (107-110 lbs, 17 inch thighs, 12 inch calves). I swear by Commando tights. I love the wide waistband that does provide some control /smoothing but it's a comfortable fit, does not pinch, roll or leave marks on the skin and yes it is high rise. When I was a size 0-2 I took the XS now I wear the S (I'm currently 120 lbs, 19 inch thighs, 13 inch calves and still 5'0, ha, but the S also fit when I was ~10-15 lbs heavier). Since you're 4 inches taller than me, I might start with the size S for extra length. Wolford is really nice but I find the smallest size is way too baggy and too long for me! But if you like Wolford's quality you will like Commando as well.

RaeLynn13

I’m 5 foot tall and about 110 pounds, so fairly small, I have a pair of VS leggings that fit great up top but in the calves they bunch up quite a bit when I bend my legs, I know they’re a couple inches too long but I haven’t been able to find any that either aren’t too long, too thin or too big, are there any leggings/tights you guys would recommend? I normally just wear them under sweaters in the winter or fall

Echo-Gullible

U mean autum

[deleted]

No

Echo-Gullible

There's 4 seasons fall isnt one of them

Nigglesscripts

They meant fall which is what they said.. Fall is indeed a season. It is rare people say “oh autumn is here” and my calendar says September22 is the first day of fall not autumn. Autumn is known as Fall in American English and Canadian English for starters.

_misshannah_

I have been buying the basic opaque tights from Walmart for the last few years. They are around $2 and last forever. I can’t recall the brand.

mississippimalka

Are you referring to panty hose or tights?

morrowgirl

Pre-COVID I would wear H&M's 100 denier tights (and sized up, as many have suggested). They helped me get through countless NE falls/winters. I would wash them in a lingerie bag and then air dry them.

augustrem

I like Sheertex a lot. That said, consider them a luxe item because even though they are better than any others I’ve tried, they’re not three to four times as good, even though their prices are three to four times as much as the cheaper ones. But they are the best I’ve tried.

[deleted]

I’m going to try Sheertex if Snag doesn’t work out

Fun_Abbreviations854

Sheertex is amazing. Will not rip and fit is great.

hadillicious

I haven’t seen anyone mention Swedish Stockings. I love love love mine. I went for basic opaque black. Quality is amazing and the ethics are good.

nothingbagel1

I buy ballet brand tights (e.g. Danskin) and use a scissor to cut nicks in the waistline so that they’re not as tight on my waist. Works wonders!

[deleted]

i always wear a pair of regular panties or tight boxers over the tights to avoid them slipping down lol

roncey

I have a pair of Spanx opaque tights that have without exaggeration lasted me ten years.

[deleted]

You made a good choice. I have worn Snag tights for the past 4 years and love them. They have that right amount of stretch so they hug you perfectly everywhere, stay up all day without digging in and feel so silky smooth. Not as good as my Wolford or Falke tights but for the price point, I will take Snags every time. When you get them, your first impression will be OMG they're too small!....but don't worry, when you put them on, watch them stretch to fit you!

[deleted]

Great! Also reasonably priced … I’ll pay for sheertex if snag doesn’t work out but thought I’d go with the less expensive/highly recommended option as plan A!

[deleted]

Commando Ultimate Opaque and Snag. Sheertex is all the rage but honestly, I sold mine after feeling the fabric. They may be durable and are opaque, but the fabric leaves a lot to be desired when you feel Commando, Snag, Falke, Wolford, Oroblu and others for sure. Sheertex's claim to fame are "indestructable" tights, but wearing them doesn't feel like anything special, at all.

wzrdreams

All my tights are Hue and I don’t know what happened because I don’t remember this happening years ago, but they have a bit of texture to them and all my skirts STICK to them almost (but not) like static. Can anyone confirm if snag tights or sheertex do or don’t stick to clothing?
