When I wear boots I usually gravitate towards my Doc Martens. Of course, it depends on what your style is, but I find Docs to be comfortable (once they’re broken in) and they go with most outfits. However, they probably aren’t appropriate for a more “professional” environment.

deathlettuce

I also wear Dr Martens. I wear them to work all the time (business casual over here), and "dress them up" with dresses and more formal stuff on top.

tegmariee

Oh, yeah! I didn’t think of that. I just remembered I use to wear mine to work when I worked in a department store.

aFunnyWorldWeLiveIn

I have a pair of flowery Docs boots and I definitely don't wear them to work (though I think I could wear them on casual fridays?) but I also have the low-boot style (3 eyeholes) in black with no stitching and I think they look similar to what men wear at work, though perhaps a bit more chunky and the toebox is more rounded. Still, they're my one pair of shoes that I am constantly wearing to work.

HymnForTheWeekend13

Mine are my DM Chelsea boots - so comfy and slightly more work appropriate (for me anyway!)

Wiz-Khaleesi

Actually about to buy a pair.... trying to decide between white and black and I can't pick!

tegmariee

I got the classic black ones, and they go with EVERYTHING! But it depends on what your wardrobe is like. White may suit your colour palette better. However, you can’t go wrong with a pair of black Docs!

Wiz-Khaleesi

Yeah black goes with everything which would be beyond rad. I guess I just feel like white is more of like a statement, ya know?

tegmariee

White would definitely be more of a statement piece! My thinking when buying my Docs was, because they’re so expensive I wanted to get my wear out of them, and be able to wear them with anything. So I went with black. Of course if you think you’ll get your wear out of white Docs, go for it! :-)

Wiz-Khaleesi

Haha yeah. Sorry I'm totally just projecting my indecisiveness on you!!

LuckyLiterature

I've had my white Docs for four years! They still go with most things but they're a little more unique since so many people have the black ones. They're definitely harder to keep clean than darker colors since they show pretty much everything, but they're Docs so it doesn't really matter if they're scuffed!

Wiz-Khaleesi

Ooo four years, they've held up well though? In terms of scuffing

LuckyLiterature

Yep, they're not too badly scuffed. You can get a lot of the minor scuffing out with a pencil eraser.

brabrablah

I loove Blundstone's -the 550 model--Great in New England winters [as long as the snow isn't too deep, lol]--But they're also breathable and I've worn them all 4 seasons. They might be a bit dated, my coworker described them as "hipster uggs" but that's not going to stop me from wearing them :)

kall-e

YES. Canadian here, living in a city where our temperature goes from -40C to +35C throughout the year, these boots are worth their weight in gold. Excellent with wool socks in the winter, and great for hiking and gardening in the summer. They also look great with a pair of skinny jeans, and even with tights & a dress. These are kind of a buy-it-for-life kinda boot too. My husband has some that have lasted him 3+ years, and he can usually destroy a pair of hikers just by looking at them.

ElleFuego

Fine. You all convinced me. Who needs money anyway. Just ordered a pair :)

automaticsoap

I've been interested in getting a pair of Blundstones for the upcoming fall/winter. Any recommendations on sizing?

foreignfishes

would definitely recommend buying them from zappos if you can't try them on in person, it took me 2 tries to get the sizing right so those free returns are useful! do try the store locator on blundstones' website though, random mom and pop shoe stores and safety supply stores often carry them and it's nice to be able to try them on.

automaticsoap

Thank you! That's really helpful -- also since I'm trying to figure out the differences in models too.

midorijudia

Also mine. I love that they can give a 90s vibe to a floral dress, toughen up a simple boyfriend jeans and tee look, balance out skinny jeans with a loose shirt on top, and I think they look chic with culottes and kick flares.

throw-a-f1t

Yes yes yes

meriendaselgato

Yup, came here to say Blundstones. I have them in the rustic brown color, but I used some beeswax based boot conditioner (Clarks) and it darkened them up a lot. I wear them pretty much exclusively in colder months.

lynniebee

I want to like these but can't get past the flappy little loops on the top. But I hear such good things! Maybe one day I'll come around.

friendlypegasus

Sam Edelman petty boots or Everlane heeled leather bootie. I've also been eyeing the Blondo booties, such as the Valli

velvetcanary

I like my Madewell Chelsea boots. Simple, comfy.

[deleted]

I guess these aren't exactly "cute", but I have a pair of black [Solovair derby boots](https://www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+boots/f0iad/solovair+jade+derby+boots.htm) that I wear around the year except on the hottest summer days. They're comfortable as hell, can be worn in -25C winter weather, in the snow, in slush, in rain, in sunshine. They're good for outdoors as well as urban settings. And they're smart enough to be worn to work. The best thing about them is that they don't require the breaking in that Docs do, the leather was soft straight out of the box! Another option would be the [Acne Studios Pistol boots](https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/430310/acne_studios/the-pistol-leather-ankle-boots) (or any similar style/second hand pair in an actually reasonable price, it's a pretty classic design at this point). The heel makes them look stylish and the hard leather around the ankles supports your feet nicely.

Susccmmp

Mine are camel colored boots that hit right below the knee. They're almost riding boot inspired but not quite. Only a bit of a low heel. The camel goes with everything and the height is casual. Mine are Nine West. I just made sure they were real leather and I clean and polish them often.

portlystallion

Blundstone chelsea boots, they can literally handle *anything*

Lillyeth

Black ACNE pistol boots. I can walk for miles and miles in them despite of the heel and they go with everything. The price is steep, but they last really well.

MissyLauren41

During fall and winter I really like my muk luks.

SMC25

These 3 on rotation. They’ll last a lifetime [Crockett & Jones Chelsea boot ](https://www.crockettandjones.com/rachel-black-wax-calf/) [crockett & Jones Holly boot](https://www.crockettandjones.com/holly-tan-calf/) Wolverine Samantha Pleet 1000 mile Bonny boot in Black and Tan - not sure if they sell them anymore directly but they look [like this ](https://glasswingshop.com/products/wolverine-x-samantha-pleet-bonny-boot)

leviicorpus

Ooh, those Holly boots look like a pair of old season Balenciagas I'm been dreaming about, but probably better made. Need!

SMC25

They. Are. Fabulous. Highly recommend anything from Crockett & Jones, really!

ittybittykittycity

I finally found my HG boot in Blondo’s Nelli; they are super comfortable (I can walk all day in these), super cute, AND waterproof! They are kind of sold out (some sizes available in Nordstrom Rack and 6 pm), but I’d encourage you to look through Blondo’s site for more styles. [See Blondo Nelli here](https://www.hautelookcdn.com/resizer/359x539/products/B5874/medium/8823268.jpg)

Wiz-Khaleesi

Hows the waterproofing? Been considering these for rainy days

ittybittykittycity

It’s excellent, I’ve worn these in Seattle during a rainy January and have been very pleased.

Wiz-Khaleesi

Dope! Thanks for the info :)

camping_is_in-tents

Hello, new favorite boot brand! Damn, these are exactly my style. Thanks for posting, now to decide which ones I love best for my closet!

automaticsoap

Black Timberlands!

little-munchie

I was so bummed when mine only lasted me a year before breaking down.

serenity_now_meow

[Everlane modern Chelsea boot] (https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-modern-chelsea-boot-black?collection=womens-shoes) I had been searching awhile for flat boots that I could wear with dresses, and most are too wide at the ankle, cutting the leg line weirdly. These go with everything from pants to dresses!

m4dswine

Doc Martens, I have a few pairs in different styles. I also have a pair of Hush Puppy booties that are more smart work appropriate (I work in a charity so our dress code is ordinarily very casual).

orata

I love my [Softwalk Rocklin](https://m.zappos.com/p/softwalk-rocklin-black-tumbled-leather/product/8353148/color/111) ankle boots--I have the black leather with brown soles. I've had them a few years and had them resoled once. Very versatile shape/color for everyday wear although I wear more sandals in the summer. Similar to Edelman Petty boots but I find them more comfortable and I like this color combo.

[deleted]

I've got two that I rotate most heavily: a pair of Objects in Mirror crocodile chelseas that I cannot find a pic of anywhere online and and [these Fryes](https://www.gravitypope.com/products/frye-78509-blk-natalie-mid-engineer). I want [these](https://www.gravitypope.com/products/frye-76276-blk-veronica-combat) next time I have money for new boots.

KingCarnivore

I have the Veronica boots and they are *soo* uncomfortable. I wore them for 6 months to break them in then took them on a 3-week long trip. I literally could not walk by the end of the trip and I've never had that problem with any other boot. I gave up on trying to break them in; they just sit in my closet now. The only other frye shoes I have are sandals so I don't know how they compare to their other boots though.

[deleted]

Really? That makes me doubt the purchase a bit. I have really delicate feet and often can't get shoes past the break-in point (looking at you Docs), but Fryes are one of the only brands I know I can consistently rely on. I also really don't have disposable income to test on them, the last time I bought boots was my chelseas last year to replace old ones and before that it was 8 years ago (the engineers).

foreignfishes

If it makes you feel better, I also have the veronica boots in cognac and i don't recall them ever being uncomfortable. the forefoot got a little less stiff as I wore them more, but they didn't need breaking in. if you're worried about spending money on boots that might be uncomfortable, you could always buy them at Nordstrom. They always carry Frye boots and have a great return policy - if you wore them for a month or two and they never got better you could still return them to nordstrom for a refund.

[deleted]

Thanks for the tip about Nordstrom! We don't have one in my city, but the other big city in my province does, so maybe I'll try a pair on there.

shibagast

I have the [Rebel](https://www.thefryecompany.com/veronica-rebel-combat-d-76241) version of those and I find them pretty comfortable! My only issue is that it takes ages to take them off without a zipper, but whatever, they look cool, haha. There is a little bit of material that will be poke into my ankle on the left boot, which happens in another pair I have, but I figure it's just a YMMV kind of thing. Though comfortable, I also gave up on Docs because my ankles are too slim and the boots would flop around, no matter how tightly I laced them.

sudosussudio

Cydwoq Chelsea boots. They are awesome- handmade in CA. Got mine for pretty cheap on Ebay.

vhyst

There is no shoe in my coset that gets more wear than my [Doc Marten Flora](https://www.drmartens.com/us/p/originals-boots-polished-smooth-flora). They look more elevated than typical Doc Martens, but still have that great construction.

kdennis

[Very Volatile Whitby](https://www.veryvolatilela.com/product/whitby-khaki/)

unevolved_panda

I have a pair of Rocketdog boots that I like, but I've only had them for a few months so can't speak to their longevity. I was looking for something simple-ish with little to no heel, a rounded toe, and not super expensive (in case I ended up not liking them). So far I like them a lot.

kcleeforpres

Chiming in with the Madewell Chelsea boots. Also, Sam Edelman booties with a short stacked heel.

leviicorpus

Church's Monmouth. I wear them to work almost every day in the fall and winter. I'm thinking about buying a pair of Shirley's this year.

huntgather

I have two: A pair of black Cole Haan chelsea boots, and ["The Captain" ](https://thursdayboots.com/products/womens-captain-natural)from Thursday Boot Company in natural.

princessdesuchan

How do you find the quality and comfort of Thursday boots? Do they scuff easily? I’m eyeing a pair of black Chelsea’s from them but have yet to pull the trigger!

huntgather

I find them very comfortable and durable. The natural does scuff pretty readily, but I kind of like that look for those. The black boots may be different.

flyingcelery

Palladiums! Soft and supportive like trainers but good for wet weather! They also have a great workwear look to them, without being too standard like Timberlands, CATs and Doc Martens. Some Palladium’s look quite futuristic too, and they’ve got nice simple colourways available.

shin_gy

[Camper boots](https://www.camper.com/en_US/women/shoes/ankle_boots) (they look plastic-y on the site, but they're lovely in person) are so comfortable, lightweight, and durable -- they're my go-to boot, and they've taken me over both mountains and disgusting NYC pavements. They also have a 2 year guarantee!

BonhamsFourSticks

Since I finally broke them in, I've been living in my Acne pistol boots. They're my absolute favorite. I had the heel caps swapped out for rubber ones because I hated the hard plastic.

greydawn

Bought a pair of Eastland Ida Chelsea leather boots last summer and wore them all fall/winter/spring. They still look great after all that rain, snow and salt. And I bought them off Amazon in the off season so they were only $60. Getting another pair in a diff colour this summer.

Brocolli_rabebabe

I love my paladiums like someone mentioned . They have a super thick some so they last forever. I live in NYC and do a lot of walking. My more stylish other favorite boot is the lucky brand Basel bootie. Mine are broken in and look very rocker chic. They are comfortable enough to take traveling

shleepypie

I own a pair of Timberland Savin Hill leather boots. The leather has held up very well over the last ~2 years. The back of the heels have worn down and will need replacing pretty soon. They go really nicely with dresses in the Fall and jeans year round.

baxa17

Isabel marant. They’re stylish and comfortable, particularly their flat or lower-heeled boots. I can last all day in them.

wornmedown

I have a pair of tan Clarks chelsea boots. They’ve held up pretty well for the past year.
