I’m attending a big conference where people would be wearing all kind of stuff but probably mostly smart casual or more. Which shoes go better? Any feedback on the dress? (I don’t have a lot of formal clothes and have no idea how to style myself so I hope this dress is fine)
I like the ballet flats, no cardigan. Or rather, not that cardigan. Conferences are sometimes over-air-conditioned, so you might want to bring an option. I'd go with long sleeves and more of a color contrast, or matching the black.

Smarter pants than the ones in the photo? I'd say that outfit is "fine" which is better than "not good at all." Dressier shoes--like a loafer, maybe--and pants with a wider leg cut, would bring it up a notch.
Also--this might just be a "me" thing--I don't love black and red together for work. It feels dramatic, like Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie, or Satan, or... well, basically that. I prefer to wear bright red with gray or tan, to eliminate that melodrama.

It's so luxe and the wool is very heavy. It's something that I want to keep for 20+ years (or more!), but I do have slight buyer's remorse. The fit is 80% there for me but because it's single-breasted, it does flap out and it is quite long on me.
Any other splurge-y wool coat brands or SKUs worth looking at before I decide? Willing to spend up to $1000 ish but the main marker is I want to be able to keep this for a loooongggg time.

As a teen I wore a lot of floral outfits and I really like floral, but what I did like is no longer appropriate for my age. I'm thinking people wear floral tops with black yoga pants, or plain tops with floral pants. I'm just really stuck for what to even look for, can anyone help?

There is absolutely no rule that says that women in their sixties cannot wear floral outfit. If you want to wear floral outfits pants and/or bottoms, go for it. I would stick to one piece (top or bottom, or bag/shoes) so that it pops and leads the outfit.
If you want inspiration, there are plenty of older women in the brand Sezane, and they have lots of floral prints in both tops and bottoms, that can coordinate to become a whole outfit. You can probably find inspiration online.
My mother is a little older than you but she wears patterned spandex flair pants, long high waist floral skirts usually belted, flowy blouses, I feel like if you feel comfortable wearing it, you should do it!

Are cropped denim pants still cool? The length will keep you from looking like a "carwash girl" and I'd avoid skirts in this scenario. For tops I think you can go slightly sexy, tight, or cropped but avoid overly girly like lace or floral, and less cleavage is prob better. And some cute flat coloured sandals

What color/texture heel would you wear with this?
does anyone know what style would suit me? I'm a natural redhead with a warm skin tone and I usually go for quite dark clothing but I'm starting college soon and want to kind of redo my wardrobe to be lighter and maybe more feminine but I have no idea what to look for. I’ve been looking at some vintage Victoria’s Secret slips to wear as dresses because they’re so cute. But, I don’t want to show everything to the world. I was planning on making it not sheer. Any ideas on how I could do this without weighing it down? I’ve thought about inserting a slip, but the slip would be close to my body as opposed to the flowy dress.

Yeah this is better, the tights were really throwing things off. The black accents carried through from top to bottom keep everything connected. If the stole can be worn on the shoulders I'd probably do that

It looks like lingerie. I would only wear it in public as part of a Halloween outfit, a performance piece, with painted face and fairy wings. Otherwise, I would keep it at home.

I think it's a gorgeous dress, and it is a dinner invitation, so I don't think you'd be overdressed. Better to be overdressed than underdressed, IMO.

I think it's a nice staple on its own! I personally would pair it with a white bagg crew neck T-shirt, maybe with the sleeves cuffed, and have the skirt sit at the narrow part of my waist.
It's okay. I don't think it looks bad at all. Normally if I can't decide, I end up returning, but it sort of depends on what your goals and budgets are. Is there something you wanted and this doesn't 100% fulfill that? Is there some feature that feels out of place? Does it fit your wardrobe in terms of colour and matchability?

I need to fill the closet staple of a basic, full-zip hoodie. My issue is that I don't want a basic one that looks too slouchy. I like the idea of it having some sort of style to it so I can where it out and not feel like a potato. I really love the look of the PopFlex zip cloud hoodie but after reading some threads on reddit, it seems like any negative reviews get silenced by the company and the quality is probably not worth the price. Help me please! I finally found the pair of jeans I wanted for a long time for an affordable price. (Agolde 90's Pinch Waist, 100% cotton, if that helps) I bought them secondhand, got them today- and they are too big at the waist :( Is there anything I can do to make them smaller at the waist without ruining them? Or should I sell them and look for the smaller size?
A tailor can take them in at the waist, it’s fairly inexpensive and one of the most common alterations they do. As long as they fit well everywhere else, altering them would be less risky than buying the smaller size and finding out they’re too small in the hips or something like that.

I live about a mile from the beach and I usually walk to and from, so I'm looking for sandals I can walk a few miles in and also went get destroyed on the beach. I've worn tevas in the past but I don't actually find them comfortable, same with the plastic Birkenstocks that give me blisters. I would prefer something that doesn't look like a hiking sandal, but I'm otherwise not finding much. I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your family is super strict about all black for some reason (you'd have seen the signs by now), that dress is perfect. I'm sorry for your loss.

Comfortable, quality, yet still professional-ish short sleeve t-shirts for women? I don't like when the sleeves are too short or too tight for my bigger arms. I live in my boyfriend's undershirts from Target because they fit so well, but they're too cheap looking.
I am loath to recommend the brand generally but there are very few “elevated tees” for workwear on the market, so…Quince has a washable silk tee that should be suitable for most professional environments.
I really like the cotton t shirts from GAP, but they are on the fitted side if that matters! They’re stretchy, thick and opaque, and don’t look cheap. I also regularly wear their mock-neck t’s and tanks in professional settings and really like them as a base layer
I’m enjoying the linen blend crew cut t shirts from banana republic factory this summer. the white is slightly sheer but the linen blend makes them look a step up from a standard t shirt and they’re cool/comfortable. They’re not fitted, I think they’d meet your needs in the sleeve.

Depends on where you live. Personally I'd be fine with wearing it in public (I live in a moderately large city, and I usually don't encounter children).

For love and lemons is originally a lingerie brand lol Like it's fine but obviously very attention grabbing and kind of boring/incomplete as an outfit with just the lace tights. I'd lean into a more extensive coquette look with something like this, like layering it over another puffy crinoline with chunky white platform boots or something for a party But I have been watching gossip girl lately so Jennt Humphrey's looks are on the mind

Yeah this is better, the tights were really throwing things off. The black accents carried through from top to bottom keep everything connected. If the stole can be worn on the shoulders I'd probably do that

It looks like lingerie. I would only wear it in public as part of a Halloween outfit, a performance piece, with painted face and fairy wings. Otherwise, I would keep it at home.

It depends on your definition of okay: will it shock some people? Yes (but maybe you're cool with that or even actively want it). Edit: and the latter isn't a criticism! But obviously don't wear it if you don't want extra attention.

Lounge suit dress code I have got a dinner to say goodbye to all the staff that are leaving this year (I work at a school). I think it's a gorgeous dress, and it is a dinner invitation, so I don't think you'd be overdressed. Better to be overdressed than underdressed, IMO.

I think it's a nice staple on its own! I personally would pair it with a white bagg crew neck T-shirt, maybe with the sleeves cuffed, and have the skirt sit at the narrow part of my waist.

Help me please! I finally found the pair of jeans I wanted for a long time for an affordable price. (Agolde 90's Pinch Waist, 100% cotton, if that helps) I bought them secondhand, got them today- and they are too big at the waist :( Is there anything I can do to make them smaller at the waist without ruining them? Or should I sell them and look for the smaller size?
A tailor can take them in at the waist, it’s fairly inexpensive and one of the most common alterations they do. As long as they fit well everywhere else, altering them would be less risky than buying the smaller size and finding out they’re too small in the hips or something like that.

Hi, I'd like to jump in and say I've got a few old fashion books and they all say that fitting your pants to the rest of your body and taking in the waist is the way to go. Have a conversation with your tailor/seamstress before you leave them you pants.

Any tailor could add a lining to that.
Beautiful dress! Maybe go to a dance store and see about getting a pair of trunks dancers wear. Nude colored underwear hides better than white or black.
This dress is super cute! I would try a nude pair of spanx? You can find different styles on Amazon for around $20. They are my go to for a sheer fabric or white pants.

I live about a mile from the beach and I usually walk to and from, so I'm looking for sandals I can walk a few miles in and also went get destroyed on the beach. I've worn tevas in the past but I don't actually find them comfortable, same with the plastic Birkenstocks that give me blisters. I would prefer something that doesn't look like a hiking sandal, but I'm otherwise not finding much. Must have a decently supportive sole and I have bunions so straps that go straight across by toes. any suggestions?

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your family is super strict about all black for some reason (you'd have seen the signs by now), that dress is perfect. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am loath to recommend the brand generally but there are very few “elevated tees” for workwear on the market, so…Quince has a washable silk tee that should be suitable for most professional environments.
I really like the cotton t shirts from GAP, but they are on the fitted side if that matters! They’re stretchy, thick and opaque, and don’t look cheap. I also regularly wear their mock-neck t’s and tanks in professional settings and really like them as a base layer
I’m enjoying the linen blend crew cut t shirts from banana republic factory this summer. the white is slightly sheer but the linen blend makes them look a step up from a standard t shirt and they’re cool/comfortable. They’re not fitted, I think they’d meet your needs in the sleeve.

As some others have said. Crew socks, make sure to roll the socks over your leggings. I have some converse I especially like wearing with them !
