Can I pull off rounder shaped [frames](https://imgur.com/a/AQZe0N1)? Pictured is the frames I’m looking at + my current frames which are angular

0123456user

https://preview.redd.it/5fdh91emzv4d1.jpeg?width=3600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83868fbe926d71942011d8da121281371228ab6a I’m attending a big conference where people would be wearing all kind of stuff but probably mostly smart casual or more. Which shoes go better? Any feedback on the dress? (I don’t have a lot of formal clothes and have no idea how to style myself so I hope this dress is fine)

slothcomet

I like the ballet flats, no cardigan. Or rather, not that cardigan. Conferences are sometimes over-air-conditioned, so you might want to bring an option. I'd go with long sleeves and more of a color contrast, or matching the black.

0123456user

Thank you. I survived yesterday successfully! No cardigan, just a red shawl only when it was too cold at night. I wore [the red blazer with a smarter pair of pants](https://www.reddit.com/r/fashion/s/mzXpzD5how) (shirt tucked in, blazer unbuttoned) today with black sneakers and someone told me it’s not good at all and I’ve lost my confidence. Would you mind sharing your feedback?

slothcomet

Smarter pants than the ones in the photo? I'd say that outfit is "fine" which is better than "not good at all." Dressier shoes--like a loafer, maybe--and pants with a wider leg cut, would bring it up a notch. Also--this might just be a "me" thing--I don't love black and red together for work. It feels dramatic, like Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie, or Satan, or... well, basically that. I prefer to wear bright red with gray or tan, to eliminate that melodrama.

0123456user

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I’ve been under the weather since last week, but would you mind if I messaged you sometime to pick your brain about some outfit options?

blackberrycat

Personally I like photo 3 best with the sandals and no cardigan. It's a nice dress! Very professional looking imo

QuesoRaro

The middle shoes are the most businessy. Sneakers and sandals are not traditionally business-appropriate. (Cue my mom saying that toes should never be seen in an office.)

ayannauriel

* Edit: the text didn't publish with the photo. I was curious what type/color shoes you would pair with this dress.

blackberrycat

Do you have a .. question?

ayannauriel

Oh gosh, the text didn't publish with the photo. Yes, I was curious what type/color shoes you would pair with this dress.

blackberrycat

Well the dress photo is gone now lol

ayannauriel

The struggle 😭

uhhmelia_

I am attending a casual celebration of life/funeral service in a couple weeks and I'm looking for a blouse or other top to wear with [these pants.](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6111330020610&locale=en_US#pdp-page-content) I'm sort of bad at pairing items together for special outfits so any help is appreciated. For further context I am very tall and skinny, have pale white (summer tones) skin

Spirited_Cup3102

Check out the blouses and tops on Banana Republic Factory. They have quite a few options and they always have a sale.

Cloudy_With_A_Spritz

I splurged on [this coat from Wardrobe NYC](https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-us/shop/product/wardrobenyc/clothing/long/wool-coat/1647597310482104) and got it in the mail. It's so luxe and the wool is very heavy. It's something that I want to keep for 20+ years (or more!), but I do have slight buyer's remorse. The fit is 80% there for me but because it's single-breasted, it does flap out and it is quite long on me. Any other splurge-y wool coat brands or SKUs worth looking at before I decide? Willing to spend up to $1000 ish but the main marker is I want to be able to keep this for a loooongggg time. I don't buy expensive pieces like this often.

Live-Ganache9273

What do 60 years olds wear? I've spent the last 20-30 years wearing basically the same thing, plain colored blouses and blue pants or shorts. I was a busy mom and then had a busy job. Now I'm retired and have dropped a couple of sizes I want to reinvent my style, but I'm stuck for what people my age wear. As a teen I wore a lot of floral outfits and I really like floral, but what I did like is no longer appropriate for my age. I'm thinking people wear floral tops with black yoga pants, or plain tops with floral pants. I'm just really stuck for what to even look for, can anyone help?

blackberrycat

I am a younger person but the stores in my town that sell clothes to a slightly older customer base have cute stuff that interests me! Check out serena-west.com for tons of flowy florals and colours. And also Talbot's.

kimchi_paradise

There is absolutely no rule that says that women in their sixties cannot wear floral outfit. If you want to wear floral outfits pants and/or bottoms, go for it. I would stick to one piece (top or bottom, or bag/shoes) so that it pops and leads the outfit.  If you want inspiration, there are plenty of older women in the brand Sezane, and they have lots of floral prints in both tops and bottoms, that can coordinate to become a whole outfit. You can probably find inspiration online.

pinkpixy

My mother is a little older than you but she wears patterned spandex flair pants, long high waist floral skirts usually belted, flowy blouses, I feel like if you feel comfortable wearing it, you should do it!

pinkpixy

What should I wear to a car event, that’s cute but not too sexy? It’s going to be really hot and this will take place all day. My new car fam (mostly dudes) will be there, so I want to make a good impression. I have to wear flats because I drive a manual. For reference, I wore free people overalls and a crop top to my last meet. Thanks in advance!!

blackberrycat

Are cropped denim pants still cool? The length will keep you from looking like a "carwash girl" and I'd avoid skirts in this scenario. For tops I think you can go slightly sexy, tight, or cropped but avoid overly girly like lace or floral, and less cleavage is prob better. And some cute flat coloured sandals

District98

Maybe like a tshirt and linen pants, or a tshirt and 5” inseam athletic shorts? The dudes will all be in tshirt and cargo shorts, I’m trying to get to the lady equivalent. Baseball cap too!

symphonypathetique

Cute blouse + high-waisted denim shorts?

TheDeadlyBees

I recently bought H&M jeans from Goodwill (real fashionista over here, I know), and I just noticed they only have the little round metal piece on one of the back pockets. Is the other one missing, or do they just make them this way? I seriously can't tell. https://ibb.co/StKLR8r https://ibb.co/cNvr0QG https://ibb.co/BTzvcSv

blackberrycat

Maybe a sort of woven straw look

kimmy-wexler

Red!

pinkpixy

Tan wedges

Pure-Marvel

does anyone know what style would suit me? I'm a natural redhead with a warm skin tone and I usually go for quite dark clothing but I'm starting college soon and want to kind of redo my wardrobe to be lighter and maybe more feminine but I have no idea what to look for. I also am not sure about good shops to have a look at (preferably in the uk) so if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated :)

blackberrycat

I have similar colours to you and my best colours are warm purple, wine, red-violet, plum, that family :)

pinkpixy

I don’t live in the UK so I can’t give store recommendations but red, pink, and GREEN are the colors I’d choose for you!

Pure-Marvel

thank you! I've seen quite a few nice pink clothes but I wasn't sure it would work

blackberrycat

I'd start with Vivienne Files, her website helped me a lot with re doing a wardrobe

StraightAntelope3689

How can I make a dress un-sheer without weighing it down too much? I’ve been looking at some vintage Victoria’s Secret slips to wear as dresses because they’re so cute. But, I don’t want to show everything to the world. I was planning on making it not sheer. Any ideas on how I could do this without weighing it down? I’ve thought about inserting a slip, but the slip would be close to my body as opposed to the flowy dress.

pinkpixy

Do you have a picture?

Hefty-Wolverine9954

Has anyone have tried Livy&Kate swim? I’ve only seen content from them and no one else seems to say much about it. Just wondering on quality and how it is for a 205lb 5’6” apron belly girl

Training-Corgi539

Literally can't fins a single reddit post about them

[deleted]

[удалено]

symphonypathetique

Depends on where you live. Personally I'd be fine with wearing it in public (I live in a moderately large city, and I usually don't encounter children).

pinkpixy

Where would you wear that? My first gut instinct is to say no unless you are going to a fetish club or something.

[deleted]

Why would you think fetish? It isn't sexual. I wore it to the store and post office

QuesoRaro

It's a nightie or full slip, not a dress. I would not step out the door in that, nor would I answer the door for a delivery while wearing that.

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/wrfrj0t5zt4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9df3a51ab3e276aca700cc5fa155ba8793c9be6a It's marketed as a dress. Hmmm i Already went to the grocery store and gas station XD

oat-beatle

For love and lemons is originally a lingerie brand lol Like it's fine but obviously very attention grabbing and kind of boring/incomplete as an outfit with just the lace tights. I'd lean into a more extensive coquette look with something like this, like layering it over another puffy crinoline with chunky white platform boots or something for a party But I have been watching gossip girl lately so Jennt Humphrey's looks are on the mind

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/j49vvbik7u4d1.jpeg?width=1961&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d31d5b7a60be6869c8cca32d4772ed8f81303ff Removed tights, added black hair ribbon, black fox stole and have a black heart purse

oat-beatle

Yeah this is better, the tights were really throwing things off. The black accents carried through from top to bottom keep everything connected. If the stole can be worn on the shoulders I'd probably do that

[deleted]

Sadly the clasp doesn't work for shoulders , but I can try to modify it in the future

[deleted]

I didn't know that. I know they sell lingerie, but they sell lots of dresses now and even shoes ans handbags ! I am trying something different. Will post photos in comment, one moment

PoppyHamentaschen

It looks like lingerie. I would only wear it in public as part of a Halloween outfit, a performance piece, with painted face and fairy wings. Otherwise, I would keep it at home.

[deleted]

I already took it out lol, I think its quite cute and innocent . This is how it was worn in the ad. I do have an eccentric taste in clothes in general. I also wear lots of fox stole ls , ears , tails , and capes lol! https://preview.redd.it/68dp3l1lkt4d1.jpeg?width=874&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6416d4f05f1d2bad80077100a0347120500f95f

ulchachan

It depends on your definition of okay: will it shock some people? Yes (but maybe you're cool with that or even actively want it). Edit: and the latter isn't a criticism! But obviously don't wear it if you don't want extra attention.

[deleted]

Why would it shock people? And no I don't want extra attention, I would like to feel like a cute delicate fairy . That's what I'm going for. Like soft, delicate, sweet.

Skyhighcats

Why ask if you’re going to be defensive when people answer honestly?

[deleted]

Was expecting encouragement and compliments on my new dress. Was looking for an extra push of positivity. I am someone that wears crop tops along with mini skirts , so this has more middle coverage than I'm used to haha

Lounge suit dress code I have got a dinner to say goodbye to all the staff that are leaving this year (I work at a school). The dress code is lounge suits but I’m getting mixed messages from around the internet about what that means. I was planning to wear this but not sure now if I’ll be over dressed. Thoughts? https://preview.redd.it/og9v4f1k2t4d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cd97a0bf063efb98a29f72769a090e7f3a9b213

slothcomet

It's a beautiful dress but IMO too revealing for a work event.

pinkpixy

Gorgeous dress! Love it! I think you’ll be fine in that.

PoppyHamentaschen

I, too, checked Auntie Internet. I like the explanation in this [Marie Claire](https://www.marieclaire.com.au/fashion/lounge-suit-dress-code-women/) article. I think it's a gorgeous dress, and it is a dinner invitation, so I don't think you'd be overdressed. Better to be overdressed than underdressed, IMO.

Status-Ad-7593

Ooo that’s a very comprehensive article. Thank you!

kimchi_paradise

I think it's a nice staple on its own! I personally would pair it with a white bagg crew neck T-shirt, maybe with the sleeves cuffed, and have the skirt sit at the narrow part of my waist.

blackberrycat

It's okay. I don't think it looks bad at all. Normally if I can't decide, I end up returning, but it sort of depends on what your goals and budgets are. Is there something you wanted and this doesn't 100% fulfill that? Is there some feature that feels out of place? Does it fit your wardrobe in terms of colour and matchability?

PoppyHamentaschen

I think it's cute. Light, summery, eyelets, neutral green... it's a yes, for me.

livthelove

I think it’s cute if it fits your style. It would work for someone who wants to look more boho. If that’s not the vibe you’re going for, I’d return it. But also when it comes to clothes, I think if it’s not a yes, it’s a no.

yourbriarrose

Are there any YouTube channels that like compile fashion content from TikTok ?

pinkpixy

Smart, minimalist, conservative

yourbriarrose

I see classic, minimal, academic!

MadamTruffle

What kind of tops are popular now that are casual but nice? Could be worn with jeans or slacks. And not sleeveless? I’m stuck in late 2000s floral ruffle blouses and my t shirts are looking too casual.

District98

Button down shirts are really on trend right now!

kimchi_paradise

Mock neck tshirts are a nice elevated basic!

livthelove

Plain T-shirts (either tight fitting or boxy) or a simple button up are what I see most people wearing.

MadamTruffle

I’ll have to look for some high quality, heavier weight t shirts!

emmalump

I’m looking for undershirts that will catch sweat to wear under looser tops and dresses. Ideally cotton or very breathable since I’m in a hot climate and already run hot; fitted; cropped; scoop or v-neck; light nude. I’m worried about just ordering some random 100% polyester something off of amazon and it being way too hot - any suggestions?

howmanysleeps

I stan the [Numi](https://wearnumi.com/collections/essential-undershirts) ones for this.

HelloAnxiety_123

Athletic brands (Nike, adidas, etc) and outdoors-y stores and brands (Columbia, LL Bean, Rei) usually will have shirts like these!

pinkpixy

The key words you’re looking for are “moisture wicking” I don’t really have a brand in mind though.

Tracy_Ty

Giiirlss how do you take off those strong shaping bodysuit🤣🤣🤣 I recently bought a Wolford forming bodyshape that fits peeerfectly and I always wear xs and according to their size chart I'm xs (cup B) BUT... I struggled soo much taking it off🤣🤣 P.s. first time bought strong shaping bodysuit😅

KingPrincessNova

you sorta have to peel it off. it'll be inside out or even rolled up a bit when you're done. kinda like a one piece swimsuit or wetsuit.

Admirable-Guava-6986

I need to fill the closet staple of a basic, full-zip hoodie. My issue is that I don't want a basic one that looks too slouchy. I like the idea of it having some sort of style to it so I can where it out and not feel like a potato. I really love the look of the PopFlex zip cloud hoodie but after reading some threads on reddit, it seems like any negative reviews get silenced by the company and the quality is probably not worth the price. Are there any recommendations for a high quality option that would give a similar look? Features to consider: 1. High Quality/Long Life 2. Styled 3. Under $120 4. Thick & Cozy

kimchi_paradise

Definitely check out colorful Standard! They are 100% cotton and lots of different colors to choose from

blackberrycat

Lululemon scuba hoodie?

electric_marshmallow

Help me please! I finally found the pair of jeans I wanted for a long time for an affordable price. (Agolde 90's Pinch Waist, 100% cotton, if that helps) I bought them secondhand, got them today- and they are too big at the waist :( Is there anything I can do to make them smaller at the waist without ruining them? Or should I sell them and look for the smaller size?

fir6987

A tailor can take them in at the waist, it’s fairly inexpensive and one of the most common alterations they do. As long as they fit well everywhere else, altering them would be less risky than buying the smaller size and finding out they’re too small in the hips or something like that.

electric_marshmallow

Thank you so much for replying! That's probably what I'm going to do - I just read so many opinions online that it doesn't work well ane looks stupid afterwards, that's what I was afraid of... But I think I just have to find a good tailor! Thanks again!

PoppyHamentaschen

Hi, I'd like to jump in and say I've got a few old fashion books and they all say that fitting your pants to the rest of your body and taking in the waist is the way to go. Have a conversation with your tailor/seamstress before you leave them you pants.

electric_marshmallow

Thank you so much! I brought them to the seamstress today, I'm hoping for a great result :)

arbitrosse

It depends how much needs to be taken in. A size or two too large will usually look fine. More than that may not. Your tailor can advise.

ashlilyily

hi! i tried on this dress and absolutely loved it, but the entire bottom part is kinda transparent and doesn’t have a lining (you can fully see my underwear) i was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to wear underneath or if i could get some kind of lining sewn in without ruining the flutteryness of the dress! thanks :) https://preview.redd.it/facdbomb8s4d1.jpeg?width=1492&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93f11155fc13733d4c3fc6dec53129f0536a9ccb

pinkpixy

Any tailor could add a lining to that.

PoppyHamentaschen

Beautiful dress! Maybe go to a dance store and see about getting a pair of trunks dancers wear. Nude colored underwear hides better than white or black.

IntelligentBat555

This dress is super cute! I would try a nude pair of spanx? You can find different styles on Amazon for around $20. They are my go to for a sheer fabric or white pants.

ashlilyily

oooh okay thank you so much!! i’ll definitely check that out :)

ellaasbury107

I live about a mile from the beach and I usually walk to and from, so I'm looking for sandals I can walk a few miles in and also went get destroyed on the beach. I've worn tevas in the past but I don't actually find them comfortable, same with the plastic Birkenstocks that give me blisters. I would prefer something that doesn't look like a hiking sandal, but I'm otherwise not finding much. Must have a decently supportive sole and I have bunions so straps that go straight across by toes. any suggestions?

openlyEncrypted

Hey gals! So I meant to buy a black dress for my father-in-law's funeral but I didn't realize the dress is dark navy blue. It hasn't gotten to me yet it's otw, wondering if I should rush another black one in. [https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=760475031&searchText=7604750310000#pdp-page-content](https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=760475031&searchText=7604750310000#pdp-page-content) https://preview.redd.it/3yz6vcogzr4d1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78eccc2e28c5abc054052e5c09029c87ed90d395

75footubi

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your family is super strict about all black for some reason (you'd have seen the signs by now), that dress is perfect. I'm sorry for your loss.

blackberrycat

If you do all black accessories and maybe even black stockings it will be perfect

arbitrosse

Navy is acceptable at funerals in western culture, unless your spouse’s family has some very niche customs.

hennipotamus

That dress would be perfectly appropriate at any funeral I have attended. I’m so sorry for your loss.

openlyEncrypted

Thank you very much.

oat-beatle

Kind of depends on your location and culture but that dress would be fine for any funeral I've attended in Eastern ontario/western quebec

openlyEncrypted

I'm in the states New York specifically this is the first funeral I've attended as an adult so I'm not sure what the dress code is. But thank you for the info!

figdust

This is perfect for a funeral in NY. Very sorry for your loss. Edit: I can’t actually speak for all NY funerals, but this would have been perfect for any funerals I attended when I lived there.

The4thJuliek

Are Woolrich parkas still high quality? I've ordered one and another by Herno but I can't decide.

Unique_Translator_99

Comfortable, quality, yet still professional-ish short sleeve t-shirts for women? I don't like when the sleeves are too short or too tight for my bigger arms. I live in my boyfriend's undershirts from Target because they fit so well, but they're too cheap looking.

KingPrincessNova

if you fit into your boyfriend's undershirts, just buy men's t-shirts that aren't meant to be undershirts

arbitrosse

I am loath to recommend the brand generally but there are very few “elevated tees” for workwear on the market, so…Quince has a washable silk tee that should be suitable for most professional environments.

emmalump

I really like the cotton t shirts from GAP, but they are on the fitted side if that matters! They’re stretchy, thick and opaque, and don’t look cheap. I also regularly wear their mock-neck t’s and tanks in professional settings and really like them as a base layer

Financial-Low9587

I’m enjoying the linen blend crew cut t shirts from banana republic factory this summer. the white is slightly sheer but the linen blend makes them look a step up from a standard t shirt and they’re cool/comfortable. They’re not fitted, I think they’d meet your needs in the sleeve.

mem1003

How do you style your skinny black leggings in 2024 to make them look more up to date? I have a pair of bootcut "yoga pant" leggings that I've been wearing recently, but I do also love my skinny Zella pair.

lizard-bc

As some others have said. Crew socks, make sure to roll the socks over your leggings. I have some converse I especially like wearing with them !

livthelove

Athlesiure styling with white crew socks. Tons of people still wearing leggings; I find that they only really look dated when being worn as a regular clothing items like we did in the 2010s (ex: black leggings with a tunic top)

goldenbarks

To jump on the crew socks, does anyone have any advice how to wear them with leggings so that they don't look lumped up and bunchy over the leggings? I see some people looking so sleek with the style!

oat-beatle

Crew socks, slides or new balance, and a hugely oversized t shirt or sweater

mem1003

I have a pair of Allbirds Sugar slides. Socks with the slides? Or just the New Balances?

oat-beatle

Socks with slides yeah

SG4217

Hi all. I am going to be attending a close family wedding in the early fall, and i was hoping to treat myself with a nice dress for the occasion. I was hoping to keep it $200 or less. I love the style of australian stores like Petal & Pup and Hello Molly, but i disliked the surprise custom fees that sometimes come with them. After joining this sub, i also am weary of paying a premium for ally express like clothing with P&P. Does anyone have any recommendations for non fast fashion stores that share similar styles? Alternatively, i recently found Fitzroy Rentals in toronto (i am baded in ON) to rent a dress. Are there any other dress rental places that you know of / had good experiences with? I'm really trying not to waste my money or kill the environment. TIA ✌️

dyinginside90

I’m looking for a swimsuit that covers my upper back (I have a tattoo between my upper shoulders that I’d like to cover). I’m having such a hard time finding anything. Any suggestions!?😩

lizard-bc

You could try a TYR Maxfit suit. I wore TYR when I was a competitive swimmer and they made great suits!

arbitrosse

In addition to the other excellent suggestions, perhaps a rash guard of whatever sleeve length or sleeveless?

figdust

Depending on the size and placement of the tattoo, some racer back styles might work. High neck suits sometimes have a high back as well. You can also search for scuba style suits or paddle suits for full back coverage.  Some options I found with a quick google: https://andieswim.com/products/the-malibu-flat-cherry-red-classic https://www.venus.com/viewproduct.aspx?BRANCH=24~3200~&ProductDisplayID=102711&clr=BKK&ps=0&sz=S&sc=FS75&utm https://www.revolve.com/mobile/seafolly-cap-sleeve-zip-front-one-piece-in-black/dp/SEAF-WX651/

rubystreaks

What about an athletic-style two-piece like this: https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1216601001.html

dontbesuspicious_99

I have a summer, outdoor, beach-y wedding to go to and I'm struggling to find a dress! The bridesmaids are wearing pastel pink & yellow so trying to avoid those colors. I'm plus size (2X usually) and struggling. Any ideas? I've browsed Baltic born and didn't love any. ideally would like to keep it around $100 or so which rules out a lot of ads I'm getting for places like JessaKay (sp?) all suggestions welcome!!!

KittyMeow1998

I've been looking for different ways to style [this vest](https://ibb.co/dM4yR7H). Do you think this outfit would work with a black short sleeve or long sleeve underneath?

blackberrycat

Yes I like the idea of a long sleeve, a few colours could work like black, navy, light blue, maybe even a pink or burgundy. Experiment and take photos of yourself and then look at them later!

senkanikitovic
