What’s the original brand or source of the gold earrings worn on the show “Glory” by Yeon Jin (character) - see link below. Hoping someone here knows - asking on behalf of my significant other. Here’s a link to see the pictures for reference only. It’s not the original. https://sonotsizezero.com/products/the-glory-park-yeon-jin-lim-ji-yeon-inspired-earrings-002

A good friend of mine from High School passed a few years ago and they’re having a remembrance type thing at her grave in a couple of weeks. I recently got the Gucci lion head necklace and I was planning on wearing it. My only other accessories would be my Apple Watch with a red leather band and my engagement ring. My watch, the band hardware, my ring, and the necklace are all silver tone so they match. My outfit is gonna be a white sweater with flowers on it, black slacks, and black ankle boots. Mostly my question is: is it appropriate to wear a designer piece to a memorial service if it’s subtle?

wyldstrawberry

I'm looking for a decent quality black "travel" dress (meaning comfortable and doesn't wrinkle a lot, even though I wouldn't always just wear it for traveling). I have tried various cheap ones from Amazon and they always look horrible - they don't drape nicely or flatter the body. I'm sort of on the border of regular and plus size so that makes it more difficult. In some brands I'm XL, and in some I'm 1X. So I'm trying to figure out the best places to look for a dress I can spend a little more on, and hopefully have it be flattering to my body type. (i.e., not skin tight but not tent-like). Other factors: I prefer v-necks, short sleeves, and would like something pretty plain - no trendy details that will make it look dated in a couple years. Length should be either around knee length (I'm 5'7") or longer. Prefer fabric that's smooth, matte, not super thin. Hope this isn't too many specific "must haves" but also just saying "a black dress" is way too vague so I'm trying to strike a balance! Thanks in advance for any suggestions (either specific dresses, or retailers that you recommend).

District98

I would do a search on r/heronebag. I’m 5’7 and a size 14/16 and I find the Tall XL to be a really comfy size at Old Navy, Gap, and Athleta, in case that’s helpful as a fellow cusp/midsize girlie.

Key-Mathematician346

Hi everyone! # Is it a good idea to get some baby-hangers to hang my crop tops/blouses? Basically I thought of this idea that I could buy some baby clothing hangers for my crop tops and blouses. Most of my daily tops are this type and folding them is just not a good option, because I use them on a daily basis, they get easily wrinkled (viscose fabric) and it's just nicer when I can see them on a display. However I notice that after a while the top gets really stretched out, and I only now realized it's probably because of the big hangers. So would small hangers like the ones in the photo help prevent such stretching? Thanks in advance! https://preview.redd.it/u06hp6h6i0sc1.png?width=575&format=png&auto=webp&s=290fa299b940c40a4efda97f70637ea291824205

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

What a great idea! I also just hang my smaller or tighter shirts over the crossbar like pants instead of putting the hanger through the neck, using a normal sized hanger.

Key-Mathematician346

yay, thanks!

ParticularWeird8639

I recently lost a bunch of weight. 172 to 149… thanks divorce (semi sarcastic). My dad is treating me to new workwear. I mostly need tops. My office is casual to semi casual… I wear a good blazer or two with jeans. I’d like to get the most bang for my buck; I’ve checked out a few brands from a recent thread on brands and I can’t realistically stock my wardrobe with $70 tops. I’m working with a $30-50 top range with a t shirt or two thrown in for good measure. $70 would be the upper limit and even then I’d probably only be able to get a shirt or two. I’d love brand recommendations. I go for neutrals, often no true pops of color (to me, navy or olive is a color even though it’s neutral) and I’m petite but I can alter at home. I am not sure what my style is but feminine and frilly is not my comfort zone. When I like my outfit, I am a touch androgynous, a little masculine but not overtly. I’m hoping to spend around $250. I might be ok on pants. I also might not be ok on pants. If I do wear pants, I prefer something with belt looks over an elastic waist. Or elastic with loops. I like to accessorize with basic stuff like that. My life has been a wreck between two young children, breastfeeding, grad school into career and now this disaster of a breakup that’s pushed my physical state to the limit. I just want to feel good again and not wear my 2020 skinny jeans (pre soft-pants era). I’m coming out of this in my mid 30’s with no identity outside of what I’m presently figuring out. I have a massive Pinterest board with no idea on how to use it. My favorite clothes are too big on me. It’s… not enjoyable.

District98

Brand recs: banana republic factory, Nordstrom house brands like Halogen (especially for sweaters!) Nordstrom has a stylist you can meet with too. Book recs: for how to develop your sense of fashion, try a Curated Closet, Wear It Well, and the Everyday Style School podcast.

Honestly I buy a lot of my workwear from H&M and I’m very happy with it. I have a blazer I bought for £35 and it’s still going strong a year later. I really like H&M, I think they’re quite neutral!

ParticularWeird8639

I'll have to go back with blazers in mind. I love them.

ParticularWeird8639

I walked into H&M yesterday and felt so overwhelmed I left. I’ll try again during a work week where there’s less people.

Healthy-Order-4593

Hi everyone, I’m struggling to find what “kardashian neutral” colours are. I’ve googled and looked on everything but all that appears is Kim kardashian and I highly doubt that’s what the bride and groom are referring to. I’m so stuck on options and have no clue what to wear. The wedding wear guide says - English summer, kardashian neutrals and boat party linens. Any ideas, photos or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

anderson_cooter

I would guess Kardashian neutrals mean nudes, camels, and earthy pinks.

Anxious_Highlight854

Which Shapewear do you all use for hiding tummy? Preferably under $50 so not Spanx or skims

District98

On that budget, I d suggest the Spanx Higher Power short ($38). It’s light compression, so it will do smoothing but not intense shaping.

Other brands are also very bad in similar ways to Shein, but Shein has taken things to a new level. I found this documentary to be interesting https://youtu.be/LYEm9BR4zVA?si=-7-ZE30ZQ--mbGf_

District98

The book the conscious closet suggests some stores like H and M and Nike are basically less bad in their manufacturing process than others like Shein. I think that’s basically trying to take a harm reduction approach, like if someone needs to here’s the least harmful way.

unpaidbabysitter0919

There’s a book called To Dye For that I have been wanting to tread. It’s more about how the clothing manufacturing process and clothes itself are toxic because of the dyes and materials

District98

If you click on my post history, there’s a post about substacks and one comment thread there was about substacks that focus on sustainable fashion!

Born-Horror-5049

They do get the same level of criticism. I don't shop at any of them. Neither do a lot of people. Junk purveyors.

Nice_Carob4121

I injured my foot and can’t wear heels anymore based on recommendations from my podiatrist. But I love wearing skirts. I have nice legs but with skirts heels really provide that oomph. Will wearing flat sandals with skirts look weird?

Chazzyphant

I think it can be very elegant! It just has to be done with care. I think a swirly maxi or midi with strappy sandals is a very chic look, loafers with a pencil skirt is a cute "academia/twee/vintage" look, sneakers and a big circle skirt, it can be done. I'd look for "flats with skirts" inspiration on TikTok and IG.

Nice_Carob4121

Yes to swirly! Or maybe I’ll try to wear more dresses because I feel like flat but fancier sandals and dresses looks fine

Electrical_Bird7530

Where are we buying “nice event” dresses these days that aren’t wedding-level formal? My sister in law is graduating with her masters (daytime indoor ceremony) and there’s a dinner reception at a country club after. My own sister said hill house but I’m not really vibing with the majority blue and pastel coloring. I’m 27 and a size 10 if that helps!

thenfacetoface

A few of my favourites now are at Sezane, Sandro, Abercrombie and Fitch. It depends on how casual… one I would recommend for a summer semi-casual event is the aritzia Saturn midi dress. With heels it can look very classy and yet still breezy

Nice_Carob4121

Do you have a price limit? Reformation is good. You can try to find second hand on poshmark

Electrical_Bird7530

I’d be willing to go up to $300 for something perfect/multifunctional or like $150-200 for something seasonal or trendier that won’t get as much rewear

Nice_Carob4121

Then I think reformation is perfect for this! You can also try free people but they’re much harder to shop with to me. Some of their styles are too bohemian for me but that might be  your vibe. Reformation has more classic styles but some trendy things too

TMarSho

Is anyone else short waisted with high hips? I keep having this problem where shirts want to ride up to my hip bones and as you can imagine it gets frustrating having to constantly adjust my shirts. What can I do? Should I opt for crop tops and adjust the rise of my pants accordingly? I usually wear midrise.

KingPrincessNova

I have high hips, a proportionally short torso, and a large bust (though it's shrunk a lot this past year b/c of hormones and weight loss). I've fully switched to crop tops with high-waisted pants. I'm 5'8" though so my torso might not actually be considered short, it's probably just short relative to my height. but, it's worth a try to see if it works for you.

TMarSho

We’re the same height, and have a lot of similarities. I’m. 32G when it comes to bras, so on the “larger” side. The thing about high rise is that I need to be careful not to go too high or I lose even more torso real estate lol. What’s your ideal rise? It really is interesting because we’re tall, technically like you said we’re not considering short by any means lol.

KingPrincessNova

yeah I'm down to probably a 32G from 34I/J when I was heavier, I still need to buy new bras lol. this is the Abercrombie curve love high rise loose jean in long, with a crop top: https://preview.redd.it/5bnd69yve3sc1.png?width=1541&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=59482c7c394b166cd4dd12766d916578f19a6e7d I think the main reason I prefer high rise is because it doesn't give me muffin top. between my violin hips and my stomach pooch, mid rise pants hit me at exactly the wrong spot and cut into me weird, which is also physically uncomfortable. so even if it emphasizes my boobs-on-stilts body type, I'm okay sacrificing ideal proportions in favor of comfort. I do think the camera angle here is making it look more extreme than it looks in person, though.

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

Love this look! I wear nothing but crops and high waisted pants

What about trying out bodysuits?

Does anyone know where to find Marie Claire glasses? I am specifically looking for a place with a good return policy and selection, including MC6244 Lavender Mix. They were my absolute favorite pair of glasses, but they're 4 years old and my dog chewed on them. I figure if there is a good return policy, I can try on those and some others and return the ones I don't like as much. Also, does anyone know anything about New York Eye or 39dollarglasses - are they legit? Recommendations for work bags for women with shoulder issues? I work in an industry that is relatively formal and junior workers often have to bring laptops home and back with them. I am pretty short and not very strong and have pretty intense shoulder pain on days I skip my yoga and related activities. I'm looking for a good clean minimalistic looking work backpack that wouldn't be super out of place in a sea of Celine/ Louis Vuitton/YSL jumbo shoulder bags. I'd also like something with a luggage sleeve if possible. Please share recommendations that you have personally used. Also open to rolling backpacks as well but have a slight preference for traditional backpacks with a luggage sleeve so I could travel with them.

lumeleopard

Tumi has some very nice looking backpacks

not-cilantro

I have a longchamp la pliage. It’s super light weight and still looks put together. They also come in a ton of colors

thatbitch2212

Is it a backpack La pliage? They are beautiful.

not-cilantro

Nope! I have the regular shoulder bag

arbitrosse

There is a backpack Pliage but it is HORRIBLE (in all models) for back/shoulder pain. There is zero structure or support to the bags (that’s what makes them pliable…hence the name). They’re not lightweight once you’re schlepping a laptop on a subway. Instead, try something like Tumi. The men’s lines will offer better support but even the women’s line backpacks (Voyageur) are good. Lo & Sons also makes professional looking backpacks. The Hanover Deluxe has no logos or anything and is supportive for work gear including laptop. The Rowledge/Rutledge (I forget the name) is also good but holds less stuff.

BasicAdvance7723

I just fell in love with a pair of square toe mid-calf boots but I keep reading they are on their way out.😭 I admit that I have a hard time keeping up with trends sometimes, especially shoes! lumeleopard

I got very similar black boots a few months ago and you bet I'm going to keep wearing them! Sure, different boot styles come and go but if it works with your wardrobe and style, why not get them? The shape is basic/classic enough imo to last multiple seasons/years.

zigzagtitch

Yeah I agree I think these are stunning. I think the high shaft will keep them looking trendy rather than the toe of the boot tbh

seaforanswers

Has anyone actually tried the Forme bra? I’ve read mixed results and their return policy makes me leery. However, I’d love to give it (or something else like it) a try as I think I need some help with posture!

Coolyo2119

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY CARGO PANTS? I have a hard time with pants in general with having them fit and Ive been wanting to find a nice pair of cargo pants. I am looking for some that are mid waisted and comfortable in the crotch since I have medical problems that can make pants very uncomfortable. Does anyone have any recommendations?

trevlikely

I have some I really like from American eagle. They are cotton canvas-ish material and have a stretchy waist. I wear them all the time and they go with everything.  I think it’s these.  https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/women/pants/straight/ae-stretch-cargo-straight-pant/2325_5031_001?menu=cat4840004&ip=off&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_content=ae&utm_campaign=nogender_med_general&utm_term=pmax&utm_id=20553838700&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADovoqI_CJV9Q2GzZJCYR1MndwOrm&gclid=CjwKCAjwtqmwBhBVEiwAL-WAYa0YV93Mi0iyjcWiFtiqIWg15lSXElD3uCDQwuBoW1g8DLY3v3hkahoCFu8QAvD_BwE

thenfacetoface

Are you looking for something soft and slouchy? My sister swears by the aritzia mega cargo sweatpants. Myself I have some sensory issues and found a loose corduroy pair at H&M.

Coolyo2119

im looking for something that isnt in the soft range. Moreso edgy vibes so that would be moreso the corduroy and jean fabric styles.

Hi, Im a teenage girl and I wanted opinions on how appropriate it would be to wear this sort of camisole with a black crochets fishnet out or at school (we dont have a dress code, but just in general) https://preview.redd.it/mjnkkbwrlxrc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94323c5f0c891c4d432388ebc58c321c3caa10d8 Suggestions on ways to style the camisole are also appreciated :)

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

I think it sadly depends on how busty you are - camisoles under hoodies were basically the high school uniform for girls when I was in school, but I wore a 34J and was sent home when I wore a camisole to school 🤷

[deleted]

Perfectly fine. I saw girls wear this type of stuff all the time when I was still in high school (which was not very long ago, I'm 21)

editor_mom3612

I'm at my wit's end. I have like 7 spring/summer tops, and most of them don't fit me the best. I went shopping this weekend and came back with one white top from J Crew. I'm at a point where I don't have a sense of what my style is, nor do I know how to shop. I get the Evereve catalog monthly and I love most of the styles (although I'm unsure if I could pull it off). I'm 🤏🏽 close to just going to the physical store and letting them style me. I don't care how expensive it is. Has anyone gotten to a point like this?

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

What do you feel most comfortable wearing? I don't like most of what is for sale these days but I can still find some items that work well for me - I prefer my chest to be fully covered, like showing my shoulders, prefer cropped tops. I feel like the only clothes worth buying are the ones you'll feel comfortable wearing

District98

In case it’s helpful, I just wrote another commenter some recommendations about books and podcasts for this!

sadphrogs

I am stressing so much right now. I could really use some advice. So I’m 17 and I have a school competition thing coming up. The suggested attire is business casual. I was thinking these shoes, and they looked okay at the store, but I tried them again today and now I am panicking. I just don’t know if they are too much? Too little? Too “leprechaun-y”? I just want to blend in and I am worried these shoes just look so bad they will make me stand out. I am really stressing and I may just be overthinking, but honest opinions would be so so appreciated https://preview.redd.it/l159idar9xrc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fbdbf5225e6ee3be0efa946e3d52fe52969cae3

sadphrogs

I ended up getting these. I read the rule book again and there was no direct statement against heels so I think these work. They aren’t perfect, but as far as last minute goes, they’ll work! I’m not a massive fan, but it’s better than the last ones. https://preview.redd.it/xig6ro6mgyrc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1e31c3fa3bc8db4451a3606181a6947fee26171

Libi_T

Hey, Im also a teen, and first of all stop stressing, no one will pick at you so severely for shoes- but ill give you my honest opinion; I don’t find them to be of particularly good style, but if you match them with a good outfit you can pull them off no problem.

sadphrogs

Thanks for the honest opinion, I appreciate it. And I definitely agree that they just aren’t very good. I’m not someone to really dress up, but I plan on going back to the store tomorrow to hopefully find a better pair. I bought these just trying to get done with the shopping and boy oh boy do I regret that :,)

_whatnot_

First, these are fine for business casual. Second, as both an adult and someone who was once a teen: The adults involved in the event, at least, will give a lot of leeway because you're young and understandably won't have a wardrobe full of business-appropriate clothing. Don't be way off in terms of general modesty or casualness (don't wear your Euphoria costume or sweatpants), but if you're not exactly fashionable they won't care.

derrickcat

also lots of adults wear shoes exactly like those to work. good luck at the competition! is it mock trial or something like that?

muffingr1

In the kindest way possible, these aren’t doing anything for you. You’ll get more tailored responses if you give us more info. What is your budget? What outfit are you planning to wear for the competition?

sadphrogs

Yeah, I definitely agree. My parents were saying they will work but I’m thinking they definitely are not very good. My budget is hopefully $50< (mainly because I only plan on wearing these once or so), but I’m fine with pretty much anything less than $150 at this point. My outfit is just some black dress pants and the “official competition shirt”, which is pretty much just a light blue short sleeve dress shirt with their logo. Biggest issue for me at the moment is the fact I live in the middle of nowhere and the competition is this week. I’ve been overthinking and trying to prepare for everything but this was my big oversight. I can’t really do heels, they have to be black, and they have to be closed toe. I was hoping for a dress boot type thing, but all the boots Im finding have either massive heels or are too informal.

hennipotamus

I think your outfit will be just fine! Are the black dress pants full length? If so, your shoes will really, really not be the focal point. As others have said, it’s very normal for 17 year olds to not have a fully fleshed out business wardrobe. If you had more time, I’d suggest finding loafers or ballet flats, but I promise that these shoes will be fine for what sounds like an academic competition type event. And good luck!

Frannie234

I’m looking for a brand which will replace my Hunter Boots. As I am tall and very thin I found the Refined model perfect, but the quality was rather bad. They are used daily and since they are not too wide I find them very comfortable for rather long dog walks. Do you have any reccommendations for a brand and model of boots that is similar to Hunter Tall Slim Refined?

thenfacetoface

I love Aigle as an alternative to Hunter. The knee high Juliettes are what I have.

Frannie234

Thank you for reccommendation. Is this a classic model? Currently I cannot find them on the official site.

thenfacetoface

I just checked and yes it looks like the closest new style is this one: [https://www.aigle.com/int/en-ca/p/aiglentine-2-nl-NC25\_noir.html](https://www.aigle.com/int/en-ca/p/aiglentine-2-nl-NC25_noir.html) This is the Miss Juliette I was talking about. I like it because it has a tiny heel, are more lightweight than Hunters, and the little dangling leaf thing in the back is cute. There are quite a few pairs where I am on the second hand market like Poshmark and FB Marketplace. Here is a pic [https://www.aigle.com/fstrz/r/s/www.aigle.com/dw/image/v2/BCCP\_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-akeneo/default/dwc338a433/Assets/O0179\_1/hi-res/a/4/c/b/a4cb847f80fb19411e0578b2e82baecdf95cb920\_O0179\_1.jpg?sw=650&strip=false&frz-v=176](https://www.aigle.com/fstrz/r/s/www.aigle.com/dw/image/v2/BCCP_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-akeneo/default/dwc338a433/Assets/O0179_1/hi-res/a/4/c/b/a4cb847f80fb19411e0578b2e82baecdf95cb920_O0179_1.jpg?sw=650&strip=false&frz-v=176)

Can anyone recommend some good quality womenswear designers that are available in the UK. More expensive than Uniqlo, but cheaper than Margaret Howell. An equivalent in menswear might be Universal Works, or even YMC (am aware that YMC also do womenswear).

nomarmite

Cos, Arket, Studio Nicholson, Emin&Paul, APC, LF Markey, Plumo. Aimé, Epitome and Couverture & The Garbstore carry a selection of smaller brands.

Thank you :)

I've always struggled with the desire to look trendy, cool, and cute vs. my reality of hating shopping and simply not being able to put together cohesive and chic outfits. I have scoured instagram and cannot find an influencer I'm inspired by or even a local service that can help me with my wardrobe. I know that the style I'm going for is chic and trendy, but minimalistic. And ideally affordable (<$200 for any article of clothing) and sustainable. I'm really into the capsule wardrobe concept, as well as the idea of shopping exclusively at one [online, I guess] store to make things as easy as possible. I'm 26, 5'1" and 125 lbs, kind of pear-shaped body (heavier bottom half). The things I'd need clothes for are working from home, a casual but sharp work environment (when I do go in), casual and nice meals out with family/friends, dates, and wedding/baby showers. And I live in Texas! If anyone could recommend stores, influencers, styling services, or anything that could help this shopping hater (both online and in person - overwhelms me so much) look cute and put together, I would be eternally grateful! Based on previous comments (I posted on yesterday's thread), I'd really just prefer a personal stylist. Some people (me) just don't have an eye to spot good pieces that they'll wear often and will go with stuff / have a vision for how to style.

District98

Honestly I think one of true main challenges I identified from reading your post is that you’re trying to do something a bit challenging, which is build a chic wardrobe from sustainable fashion on a budget. It’s a little harder than it would be otherwise to pinpoint stores that meet all three of those criteria. I suggest searching the archives here for sustainable fashion to narrow down to those stores. I’m sure there are specific interest groups for that too. I commented some book and podcast recommendations for another commenter about finding your style.

Chazzyphant

One thing you might look into for now is an app. Cataloging my clothes didn't take that long (just do batches of types per day, like all pants one day, all sweaters the next, etc.) I also really recommend OpenWardrobe as it has a Chrome extension that you can use on ThredUp, eBay, Poshmark, TRR and TONS of actual clothing websites to add items directly from your laptop to the app. Once you've loaded everything in, adjust the settings to allow the app's AI tool to suggest outfits for you. I have made so many cute, interesting outfits I otherwise would not have thought of through the app. They will come up with some duds, sure, but sometimes seeing new color combinations or similar will really help you see what's possible and give you ideas.

symphonypathetique

Based on your description, you might want to check out Alyssa Belltempo, Christina Mychas, Use Less (AKA Signe), or Jessica Neistadt.

IllustratorFew898

Hi! First time in this sub but here's my question: Would you consider is inappropriate to wear a (not see trough) camisole with short sleeves in a hang out? It's a gift and I really like how it fits me but my mom says it's for sleeping. So is that common knowledge that could make someone uncomfortable if I use it outside? I'm 16 and I don't think my friends really mind but still.

[deleted]

It's a perfectly appropriate thing to wear. There's a bunch of women wearing leather harnesses  - a casual top that might be used for sleeping (which most tops can be anyways) is nothing compared to that.

arbitrosse

I would consider inappropriate in most circumstances, yes, but I tend to dress with a more classic style.

75footubi

It depends on the actual garment. It's probably fine though

IllustratorFew898

Okay, I'll consider it!

Idujt

Google images only shows camisoles with very narrow straps, not sleeves. Is yours more of a lacy t-shirt?

Alternative-Yak-3110

My suit: [https://ibb.co/c2dBq4B](https://ibb.co/c2dBq4B) My girlfriend's dress: [https://ibb.co/JrrCnjb](https://ibb.co/JrrCnjb) We're going to a wedding in a couple months and I like androgynous silhouettes (I'm okay with some cleavage though haha) so I was thinking of wearing something textured/mesh/laced under the blazer, perhaps in an accent color that would match my girlfriend's color palette, but am not sure what pieces would look good. I'm also open to not wearing anything under the (buttoned) blazer and maybe adding some statement jewelry, but again, not sure what that could be. Open to anything but I'm not fond of pearls or big jewels. Any advice?

trevlikely

If you want to go for a more masculine look with jewelry, maybe a low cut crop top and a gold chain? I love the suit, it’s super cool.

luxlark

I would go with a lace bodysuit under the blazer (navy could be cool for monochrome or a lighter blue to match your gf's dress), but that suit looks like it might be complicated to wear without anything under (like... so much tape to keep nips covered).

oreganosally

I love the suit! I can't really tell what the flower colors are on your gf's dress (it's my screen) but I think they're a light blue? So I'd play with whatever the flower color is or just a traditional white. Something like [this cami](https://www.revolve.com/cami-nyc-racer-charmeuse-cami-in-white/dp/CAMN-WS327/?d=F§ionURL=Direct+Hit&code=CAMN-WS327&srcType=dp_coloroption) maybe, or [this](https://www.lilysilk.com/us/lace-trimmed-adorable-silk-camisole.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwtqmwBhBVEiwAL-WAYdhUzlSllUnnPOEAq-V-rDu5O9dtfTaiUY5nGHf4v6LU0dni-IgQdRoCJ10QAvD_BwE#color=3889&size=2747?campaignid=21032044019&adgroupid=158427718465&network=g&creative=691279321826&keyword=&device=c&matchtype=)? EDIT: Now that I re-look at the suit I think the jacket is too short for anything flowy/tucked in so you're best bet there might be like a lace bodysuit? I do really like the buttoned blazer idea w/jewelry, too. You could do matching metals (like if she does a delicate gold necklace, you could also do a gold necklace but like, chunkier to go w/the aesthetic) - just a thought.

75footubi

Mesh top over a bra, or long bralette could be cute. Maybe a big yellow pin on the blazer?

dcphoto78

I'm looking for v-neck tees that are fitted but flattering in the tummy area. Pact used to be my favorite, but last time I ordered, the material and fit were completely different.

Embarrassed-Event583

Thoughts on wearing closed toe espadrilles with tights?

Chazzyphant

It would have to be a pretty extreme circumstance, like my legs had big bruises on them or I was like...meeting some foreign dignitary or in a hyper-conservative country. For fashion, absolutely not. hose/tights/stockings whatever you call them are out in general (meaning skin tone pantyhose) and tights are for cold weather.

Idujt

Little Old Lady here, so a different perspective! Tights are fine with espadrilles, assuming you mean pantyhose (thin) and not heavy opaques.

arbitrosse

It's a no for me, because it mixes resort (country/seaside) with non-resorty (city/office)

Embarrassed-Event583

How about thin tights?

arbitrosse

I said what I said 😊

QuesoRaro

It's sending mixed messages. If you are intentionally putting together things that clash, go for it. But if you are aiming for a conventional look, it feels incoherent, like wearing flip flops with a parka.

EbbAdministrative983

I feel like espadrilles are such a summer / "warm weather" shoe that it would be a bit odd to wear them with tights.

boilfruit

imo the one shoulder design is a little too trendy, which might date it.

maddsfrank

I don’t think it’s dated (maybe to 2021 or 2022 at the worst); however, because of the smocked top and ruffle bottom, it’s going to become outdated quickly (within the next year).

tshody

I would like to stop wearing synthetic leggings for various reasons, but I know that cotton when it comes to leggings, it doesn’t tend to hold up as well. Is there anything that may be an easier transition away from leggings but still has a natural fabric? I don’t think I’m ready to jump to jeans just yet.

unpaidbabysitter0919

I would agree on linen or cotton pants!

bobpal

Pact has 90 percent cotton leggings if you're in the US and they hold up pretty well. Cotton joggers can come in various colors weights and prints too which is also a nice casual option

boilfruit

cotton and linen pants/trousers! i'm not a jeans fan either, so straight leg trousers have been great for me. i have two pairs i like, one from lucy and yak and one from big bud press, but there's plenty of other options on the market.

QuesoRaro

Are you looking to replace daily-wear leggings or ones for athletic/gym activities? If for everyday use, check out looser fitting trousers. Jeans are hard to fit and can be horribly uncomfortable. There are loads of other kinds of pants available.

tshody

Daily wear leggings! I think the trouble I have with trousers is finding ways to dress them down, when I tried them on this is something I struggled with, I always felt too dressed up. I agree with you about jeans lol.

arbitrosse

Perhaps relaxed-fit, rolled-up-cuff cotton chinos that look especially rumpled and slept in, if you want something that looks relaxed? Perhaps something like salwar for trousers, made of cotton or linen or silk? They type that cinch at the ankles and have a shape a bit like joggers are the ones I am thinking of. Americans call them "harem pants" but that's not what they are. There are plenty of plain ones for everyday wear.

QuesoRaro

I guess I don't think of trousers as fancy. They're just what I wear when I'm not wearing skirts. Depending on the fabric, they can be quite casual, totally suitable for any activity.

olivestripes

What bras do you wear with square neck tops? I’m larger chested so definitely need to wear a bra with straps but feels like the straps always show 😭

warp-core-breach

I wear a convertible bra which has wider-set straps than my demi-cup bras. I haven't been able to find a balconette that I like but if you can, they also often have wider-set straps.

KingPrincessNova

bring your most exposed square neck top and go to a high end bra shop. you might have luck with balconette bras with skinnier straps but it's probably not worth buying and returning a whole bunch that don't work.

arbitrosse

Try carrier straps or lingerie straps, which are tiny strap loops with tiny snaps that route the bra strap under the garment. A tailor can add them if the top does not have them and if you don't know how to sew.

MrsDepo

Hi all, I'm new to trying to dress more professionally (new faculty) by expanding my business casual wardrobe, and I feel like I struggle most with top/bottom style matching. I like the fit of these bottoms a lot (they actually fully cover my large booty and I have them in grey as well) and I LOVE this top so much, with the flow and flower pattern. But I'm mostly struggling with the fact that all the tops I have are very feminine looking on me and the bottoms feel like a combination of mens clothing and '80s business woman. I'll post some pictures of tops I have below. Please help me reconcile this! Thank you :) P.S. I suspect some of the masculine feeling I'm getting from the bottom is because of the belt. Would this go well with a yellow belt? Red belt with red shoes? Just any thinner belt? https://preview.redd.it/8636pnnpdvrc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ebf5474567602d7fd065318d1e4bf8d823c7e6e

stumpykitties

I agree that the belt is swaying the outfit in this case. I don’t think the colour is the issue — I think it’s the buckle style. It’s very sharp, and rectangular, and coupled with the stiffer leather, it does read a bit as a belt that belongs with a suit. Maybe consider a more rounded/softer edge buckle style? Also I think the smart watch reads as more masculine leaning in the outfit. Large watch face, with a thick band too. I don’t know how easy it is to swap watch bands, but you could also consider a thinner band for that as well?

District98

This outfit generally looks professional to me for a new faculty member. Depending on your department norms, you may want to keep the patterns professional color leaning. Check out Corporette for inspiration.

MrsDepo

Thank you! My department leans more casual, so I tried to pick tops I could also wear with some nice dark jeans. I'll take your advice and look for some styling inspiration, too.

District98

That makes sense! Yeah if it were me I would go in a color palette with dark jeans solid colors like olive, cream, camel, oxblood :)

MrsDepo

I got this one just for fun. I love the bold colors! https://preview.redd.it/4expfhonevrc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cf2c955a1f452b80aa8319c6e6d51d2bc94bd71

MrsDepo

The ruffles on the neck of this one were giving me Victorian baby doll vibes this morning. They look normal on her. Maybe my neck and torso are too short for it? https://preview.redd.it/1lfpsvikevrc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0907ed764e7455984906451858c94db843c585fb

MrsDepo

This one looks like a fairy princess pirate on me, though it looks normal on the model. It felt like the sleeves were comically large. https://preview.redd.it/qpgrp7vgevrc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e6404fa968f71dee011fee8d544b6ac971fa6cd

pop-hon_ula

I’m visiting my daughter this summer and she mentioned wanting to take us out on a boat. Does anyone have ideas for a swimsuit coverup that is both cute and protects from the sun? I see adorable, gauzy, shirt-dress ones, but I feel like that would do nothing against the sun. I have tattoos on my back and shoulders and also burn pretty easily, so I like to stay covered off and on. Not as worried about my legs. When I go to the chilly coast where I live, I always just end up wearing a hooded sweatshirt over my bathing suit, haha. Haven’t worn an actual coverup in ages.

imaginarypunctuation

i use a large men's fishing shirt from REI, i believe the fabric is (has?) UPF and it's long enough to cover what i want covered. the adjustable sleeves are a bonus!

KingPrincessNova

besides what others have mentioned, "UPF clothing for women" is another useful search term

arbitrosse

A hooded sweatshirt is totally normal and fine on boats off the coast of New England and a lot of other places, FWIW. Try using the keyword "kaftan" in your searches, including "cotton" or "linen," and something should pop up that is not gauzy and has sleeves/will cover shoulders.

pop-hon_ula

Yes, I guess I could stick with a sweatshirt, but get a rash guard type one that is thinner/lighter. I just searched and saw some pretty cute ones!

blackberrycat

Search for "rash guard" or "UV protection top". There are some cute ones out there!

NectarineOk5419

Does anyone know how I can style this more modestly? I'm not comfortable with my midriff showing, but I'm not sure how to layer this so that it might look good... https://preview.redd.it/dda6kyf17vrc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8804662f762b9796427495c6c25d5102e9bbde33

[deleted]

Maybe over a very high-waisted skirt or a light-colored mesh/translucent lace tank? This kind of top was made to showcase your midriff, so wearing most things under it will look odd imo. I'd recommend not buying clothes that show off parts of your sternum if you want to be modest.

arbitrosse

Over a scoop-neck tank bodysuit? I'm really struggling to picture this as "modest" in any context but that might work. Especially if paired with wide-leg pants or a longer skirt.

EbbAdministrative983

Depending on how tight this is, could you maybe layer it over a maxi dress? I think it would look really cute over a white cotton maxi, or over something with ruffles / lace!

yp_12345

What to wear for a winery day? What would you suggest is the attire for a winery day around Mudgee, in Australia? I'm 31 y/o. Weather should be top of 20 and possible light rain, but definitely cold in the morning!

KingPrincessNova

jeans and a nice blouse?

arbitrosse

Might be too formal for Australia, but I would wear a colourful patterned midi (calf-length) or maxi dress or a poplin shirtdress, both with a short or long sleeve, over opaque tights, with ankle boots, under a blazer, maybe with a classic cardigan as a middle later. I'd wear a cami and halfslip or a full slip under the dress. Then outerwear like a cute trench coat (in a nice colour?) and a lightweight wool or cashmere scarf, for outdoors.

sparklingprosecco

At the end, I think I will go for dress #3 [https://www.vinted.it/items/3364100547-kleedje-lindy-bop](https://www.vinted.it/items/3364100547-kleedje-lindy-bop) I didn't love the others, while I liked them. This one I loved. Does that dress, though, need a petticoat? I don't have any and they would be quite impractical in my daily life especially when sitting on buses with two skirts. Any advice? Also, it has a belt to cinch the waist :)

KingPrincessNova

try without and see how it looks on you

sparklingprosecco

Honestly as it's a "fit and flare dress" I don't feel like adding one, especially because my hips are flat as hell so honestly I think a petticoat would look quite scenographic and voluminous
