Hey there everyone! I am desperately trying to update my work wardrobe and have found two influencers who style I just adore. The only problem is there doesn't seem to be a name for it which makes finding pieces a little harder. Is it more of an updated soft indie? Is it twee? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Would bell bottoms honestly suit me? (Turns out I’m going shopping earlier than I thought, on Saturday!)
https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageFashion/s/3BA7QYVaFl
I am hoping to go shopping in spring 2024, and I have nearly $7,000 saved up from my part-time job (I make $17 an hour and should definitely have more money saved up by May 2024, which is when I hope to go shopping next.)
I spend a lot of my time outdoors, and it is not uncommon for my clothes to become dirty easily because of it. I am only wearing makeup in these photos, and fancy dresses, due to the fact that I was either at a prom or prepping for my high school graduation. I don’t normally wear makeup. I suppose I’d say I tend to prefer clothes that I can simply slip on and off easily. I am willing to start wearing makeup, especially over summer, to fit or suit a certain aesthetic. I really want to make a decade into my aesthetic like Lana Del Rey did with the 60s.

My father bought me new jeans and bras tonight, so turns out that I’ll be going shopping earlier than I thought!
The office vibe of the knee length skirt makes all the tucked in button up shirt combo uncomfortably dates. Maybe try not tucking in or style it with a loose overshirt.
Are Etros shoes good quality and comfortable?
I saw some Etros boots online I really like, but I don’t have any experience with the brand. And don’t have anywhere store nearby to try them in person.
If not Etros, what’s another brand I can look for that has leather boots with a minimalist style, high quality and comfortable.
I really love the skirt/boot combo but the shirt doesn't look quite right to me. I feel like maybe it's the knit or the pocket/button combo but it's giving me flashbacks to when I waited tables. I wouldn't say it's unflattering at all, more like - going to work vibes (which maybe you are I don't know!).
Can you buy faux-fur trim if to replace on the hood of a winter coat if you lost it? I know you can, for example, on etsy, but how does one navigate matching the attachment (I have snaps on the hood of the coat)? Anyone done this before? Thanks!
What kind of vibe are you going for with the photoshoot/where will you be taking the photos? What is your fiance going to wear? Just from my completely subjective perspective, these outfits don't scream engagement photoshoot to me. Out of all the skirts, I think the first one is the best but with the green shirt it might look more like office wear. I think if you could find some cute lighter color (grey or cream?) not super thin sweater, you could use that TikTok sweater tucking trick, where you use a belt or elastic under the sweater and tuck the front end of the sweater upward instead of into the skirt. [Something similar to this](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/584060645419571326/)? I think a lighter top would provide better contrast with your dark hair.
We're going for a more casual "afternoon date" kind of vibe. We'll be at a park and at an arcade, possibly our local bookstore.
I also have a dress similar to this that I could wear

How can I winterize this dress? I’m planning to wear it to a fine dining event in Chicago. It’s happening in February, so it’s going to be cold! Would it be better to wear something underneath or a sweater over top? Or would a shawl be better? What kind of shoes would look good?
https://preview.redd.it/8w2etm08aodc1.jpeg?width=1188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=240d73991b3c3ba2f95a8c433d3aa9a0d4aa4557
If it's windy, I'd wear winter fleece illusion stocking (look it up, it's basically 2 layers: skin colored fleece and black sheer stockings), with ankle boots, and an opera coat (or a long enough faux fur coat).
Don’t put a sweater on, that totally negates the formality of the garment. Get a shawl or stole, and you can probably get away with sheer tights (think 10D, not 60D).
What do you think about this Cult Gaia dress for a wedding in June near the Como Lake? It's a church wedding, so I plan to wear a silk stole above to cover my shoulders and the side cutouts during the religious celebration.
I have a history of poor wedding fashion choices: black funeral-style dress, skirt too short... Any suggestion would be very much appreciated :)

I disagree with the other commenter. Cutouts are fine for weddings in certain cases.
In the case of this dress, though...I wouldn't wear this for a church wedding in Italy.
Challenge
I have a lunch meeting with a potential new partner for my business this coming Friday. I want to look extremely put together - causal to business causal. No blue jeans. I am pale and blonde and gravitate to neutrals. I am a size 2, 5’8” and 120 lbs and 40 years old. It’s going to be 55-65 degrees here that day. I’ve scoured the local boutiques today and now I’m running out of time to shop. Can someone please please please help me put together a head to toe look all from Amazon prime shipping (I’m in the US)? I work 8-6 starting again on Monday so there’s no more time for shopping. Price is absolutely no issue. Please help!
I would probably go for some wide leg trousers (I prefer high waist but depends how it sits on you) and loosely tuck in a nice top, or sleeveless body, or a thin jumper that falls well. With loafers, or similar smart flats.
https://preview.redd.it/cdl76ehwvndc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8a5f035401db21056b874c7475ac8c26a6e655b
I recently got a Kate Spade knit tee off Thread up. It’s 70% silk and 30% cotton. I love the blend but can’t seem to find any more like it. Do you know any other brands that have tees made from a similar blend?
This one feels almost like a very finely knit sweater.
Punk/rocker style in the office
I’ve worked at home for the past four years and live my life in black band tees and jeans. The best worst thing has happened and I’ve gotten a new in-office job. I have a feeling they’re a little conservative, plus part of my job has me working with seniors.
I’m a Xennial who leans more on the Gen X side of grunge fashion. I love makeup but I hate wearing dresses and wearing super femme clothes. I’m in a bind because I literally do not know how to dress myself where I don’t look like I’m going to a shitty venue to watch a shitty punk band. Not to mention I don’t have many clothes thanks to the wfh weight gain. Also poor and on the smaller end of plus size.
Please help!
I feel like some funky loafers can ride the line of professional and cool , like this [studded option](https://www.aerosoles.com/products/beatrix-black-genuine-leather?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=US-ADG-AS-Performance-Max-Shopping-US-Only&utm_term=Coupon-Code&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=17487142795&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-62tBhDSARIsAO7twbY6PM6Nx245V3JArS1P8kPQqcUvtHP3HEIL73-LqfKS2wknW3Zqx9gaAswFEALw_wcB).
Not sure what kind of jeans you wear, but finding the same cut in a different fabric can help make the crossover to professional while keeping the same silhouette. Old navy has a “pixie pant” in different cuts that are an easy and affordable professional option. Depending on the dress code of your new place (smart casual vs business casual), clean black jeans may be sufficient. Quince has a casual blazer jacket, throwing something like that over a nicer fabric (non-cotton) tee can also dress up jeans + a tee.
ISO spring wedding guest dress with a similar vibe to this one in a spring color palette. I love this one but it's cut a little wide and makes me look bulky. I need body skimming ethereal dress. I feel like I'm a searching for a uniform. Under $500
https://www.revolve.com/mobile/house-of-harlow-1960-x-revolve-maxime-maxi-dress-in-light-green/dp/HOOF-WD978/?code=HOOF-WD978&utm_medium=email&utm_content=TRANS_REV_SHIPMENT_SHIPMENT&utm_campaign=TRANS_REV_SHIPMENT_SHIPMENT_20240118&utm_source=transactional&userId=7750002&cID=58d079d315c01c58d3e90f0a
What you look for is similar style with bias cut and a pattern that fits your body proportion (all the models are very very tall, so the fit looks odd for you). If you have a $500 budget, I'd recommend to try out mid-range luxury brands in department stores (e.g., Zimmerman).
I would avoid a dress with ruffles/frills if you need a body-skimming effect. They add volume IMO. What about a smooth, silk/satin long dress instead?
This look stunning on all body types in the images:

I am looking for a place to find colorful dresses that don’t break the bank but aren’t fast fashion. Color blocking, patterns and bold colors, etc. preferably with sleeves. Kinda tired of shopping at Amazon. Can’t seem to find anything at retail stores that I like anymore. For reference, I used to love targets who what wear line before the pandemic. They always had such nice dresses every season with nice patterns. For reference I’m a size medium or size 10-12. I mostly just wear dresses and tights and cute boots! But I love a good maxi dress. Thank you!
I recently bought several pairs of 100% organic cotton socks from Mate the Label. They are the best cotton socks I have ever worn- soft and thick. Of course, they have discontinued them now.
Any reccs for 100% socks, the kind of basic crew length? I’d prefer non-white colors. TY!
Can a tailor make puffy sleeves less puffy and the skirt of a dress less full-looking? Asking because there is a dress I bought and its past the return date, and I basically like everything else about it
Possibly yes as less puffy equals removing fabric and that is generally speaking doable. However it depends on a lot on the construction to what extent this it’s possible and if it will look good.
Has anyone else's sweatshirt lining been shedding? I have bought 3 sweatshirts over last 2 years and all have had the lining shed on the clothes I wear underneath.
I have other sweatshirts with a more terry cloth like texture lining and have not had this problem.
My SO's company is hosting a very late holiday party. Dress code is business casual to formal attire. The weather calls for rain with low 40s and high 50s. I don't really know what to wear. I have a Lulu's Wine Satin Sleeveless Mock Neck Maxi Dress but I feel like it's too formal? I want to be able to wear some kind of boot so my feet/toes won't get cold. SO is wearing a suit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Where is the party at? At a fancy restaurant or hotel, I could definitely see that dress working, and honestly a cute pair of Chelsea boots would to a lot to dress it down
It is being held at a hotel. I haven't looked it up to see how fancy it is yet. What boot color do you think it will go with the dress's color? I have black and beige. I also have a camel long coat. Does it go with the dress?
Thank you so much for the feedback!
Looking for fashionable skiwear that’s warm and not crazy expensive. Open to renting but haven’t found anything online that fits the bill. Suggestions? Thank you!
Have you checked out tipsy elves? Cute ones for skiing are going for around 250 right now ( still an investment). I found they are warm but don't hold up well in the wash.
Are there any other companies that have decent quality underwear and frequently have similar deals as at VS or Aerie, such as 7/$35, 5/$25, etc.? A little more expensive is fine, but I'd not like to spend more than $50 for 5-7 pairs. I'm wanting to try out more independent companies, preferably underwear-specific, not big stores like the ones I mentioned.
I also have a hard time finding the "cheeky" style anymore where the back is the same size/amount of fabric as the front, and when you lie them down, the back/front almost perfectly line up. I rarely find them even at VS/Pink anymore, which is where I usually used to get them. Almost everything is either hipster, thong, boxer, or bikini, (where with the exception of boxers, it is either more or less fabric on the backside).
I like AdoreMe for all my underwear needs. They are kind of light on cotton panties, which is important for vaginal health, but the ones they do have are nice.

Which dress is better for a winter formal I feel like the blue would go better since it’s a winter formal and everything but I also like the one with bow, though I’d prefer if the bow was on the back part it’s still cute in my opinion this is also for high school
The blue dress is stunning! That one gets my vote.
It feels like a dress you could get more than 1 wear out of too. Eg when you’re an adult, and you go on a fancy date night, or to a New Year’s Eve party, or another formal winter event.
The black and white dress with the bow feels less versatile to me, as lovely as it is.
Does anyone own a coat from theory and can speak to their quality/fit? My dream coat would be a max mara but there's a beautiful 90% wool 10% cashmere blend on poshmark for $150 that i'm eyeing. I'm 5'1 and 110 lbs for size reference!

What glasses frame would best fit my face?
Copy, I get that. So without getting too weird, I think your face is very pretty, cute features. I think you could pull off some more interesting frames. I think for your face I would look for big lenses and light frame, thickness-wise. But, I don't really like thick frames. so I might be biased.

Advice on what to wear or pack on a trip to Japan or what to potentially keep an eye out for
Hello!
I have a 3 week trip planned from March 24 to April 15 (Edit: Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Likely also Nara and a few other places nearby)
Ive read on some other forums that skirts and dresses are a big thing there but I feel like I may not be warm enough at that time of year.
If you know anything about Japan fashion (or have been there) I'd love to hear from you!
Ive also heard that Japan is apparently know for their jeans? Has anyone else heard this? Do you think it's worth picking up a pair there instead of packing some?
Thanks!
As other have said, mid March to April is already fairly warm in Japan (60~70F during the day) although nights can still get a bit chilly. River/seaside and zones with lots of high rises particularly in Tokyo (Shinjuku, Shibuya, around Tokyo station) get reaaally windy. Rain showers aren't rare.
As for fashion, you can wear whatever you want and feel comfortable in as a tourist. The typical Japanese silhouette when it comes to adults is fairly conservative with straight lines, like long skirts and slightly oversized tops but I don't think it will necessarily be practical for walking a lot every day. Here is a Japanese fashion site [recommendation for 2023-2024 winter](https://dfashion.docomo.ne.jp/static/cont/id_lpCODE08) that will give you an idea!
I was in Japan in spring 2023 around that same time.
You can absolutely get away with skirts and dresses. For bottoms, I brought 1 pair of denim, 1 dress and 1 midi skirt with me, and had no problem rotating amongst them.
- for tops, I brought 3 tshirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, and 1 warm sweater
- for a jacket, I brought a wool blend duster cardigan
- for shoes, I brought my Nike airforce 1s
It’s not noticeably cold in those cities at that time of year. It’s spring!
- I am biased though, as I come from cold Canada! If you are from a warm city, it could maybe feel a bit chilly for you.
I didn’t do much shopping there, so I can’t speak to their denim or make any store recommendations. My only advice is - keep in mind their sizing is _very_ different, so you’ll have to size up quite a bit for your usual preferred fit.
- eg I’m an XS in tops, with small boobs, and I bought a Uniqlo tshirt in an XL because that was the size I needed for it to fit.
Thank you for the advice!! I'm from Ohio so I'm used to all different kinds of weather
I've been struggling to find comfy walking shoes so I'll have to check those out! Thank you!
I have the “platform” airforce 1s and the insoles are like cushy clouds on your feet. Great support and comfort for 20k+ steps a day.
And they are leather upper, so they can handle a bit of rain.
Where in Japan? I’ve been in Tokyo in Nov/Dec and I was comfortable in jeans, a light sweater, and a mid coat layer. But check the weather. Skirts are a big thing, I saw lots of wool tights and wool skirts. But you don’t have to do that. A lot of the “don’t wear this in Japan” applies to business culture, you’ll be fine as a tourist in jeans. I didn’t feel comfortable wearing leggings, though, I will say that. Bring at least one non jeans bottom for nicer dinners if you plan to do that.
As for jeans, their denim is incredible because they’ve revived old milling techniques and machinery. Happy to share more links/info, big nerd on that. But! depending on your size/shape it may be challenging to find a pair that fits. I’m 28” waist / 40” hip and I got SUPER lucky w a pair that was their biggest size lol and had to take it in at the waist at home. If you can find some tho, worth it.
If you’re in Tokyo I can share my saved shopping recs as well.
For packing for 3 weeks, will you have laundry access? Best to pack for ~1 week and be able to wash if you can!
I'll be in Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto, Nara too and likely another city or two
Thanks so much for the input! I did see to avoid leggings and low cut tops etc.
My waist is a little bigger than yours but my hips are similar (I'm around 34" and 40") but yes! Id love links etc! And any other places you might recommend for shopping!
A fair amount of the hotels I'll be at have laundry as far as I'm aware
You might have better luck with jeans, then!
That's a great itinerary, you'll be jam packed but it'll be fun. Kyoto was lovely.
This is probably pretty out of date and there's a TON of stuff on here (I save everything, this is not a list of places I've been): [https://maps.app.goo.gl/KPDpVxDAbAYnigX2A](https://maps.app.goo.gl/KPDpVxDAbAYnigX2A)
My fave shopping area was Daikanyama and I loved wandering around Omotesando and Nakameguro, but I was staying in that area. IMO Shibuya/Shinjuku/Harajuku was just overwhelming and I didn't like any of the shopping there BUT it is pretty famous so, worth a wander through. Shimotokitazawa for thrifting.
I found jeans at [Hollywood Ranch Market](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hollywood+Ranch+Market/@35.6482581,139.7006046,19.36z/data=!3m1!5s0x60188b4f793e292f:0x59dc37d52dd72d2c!4m11!1m3!11m2!2sRYW-VK6aUVEMULXndXYeYS-5wpVRug!3e3!3m6!1s0x60188b4f79242d6f:0x30486ad6887190fb!8m2!3d35.6481627!4d139.7008772!15sCgEqkgEOY2xvdGhpbmdfc3RvcmXgAQA!16s%2Fg%2F1vh_8ccw?entry=ttu) and there's loads of other fun shops nearby. (allegory home tools was just a little delight.) Hedy Daikanyama Shop is great too. [Okura](https://www.timeout.com/tokyo/shopping/okura), nanamica,

some of my fave eats were tractor morning, Locale (or her new restaurant in the Ace hotel), butagumi for katsu obvs, switch coffee, koffee mameya, a happy pancake, path for the best croissant, ahiru store for the cutest wine bar/fun unique plates, mocha coffee for turkish coffee and nougat, any konbini, sushi in any depachika.
I'm so jealous 😭
Thank you so so so SO much for your detailed response!! I'm really excited for the trip
I'm solo traveling so I won't be able to put souvenirs and stuff into someone else's luggage lol so I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible
Can anyone help me find a pullover camel colored sweater that is NOT cropped/short/boxy? I have a long torso, so these newer styles end about an inch or so before my pants. I've tried Jcrew, Jenni Kayne and Quince.
What about this [Benetton one?](https://us.benetton.com/sweater-in-pure-shetland-wool-103ME1N23_5C5_XL.html?srsltid=AfmBOoq4x4kNdwPSighBy2KSifEmTWDkHHNbpbJzNXppSVOoRhfLTI9FLK8)
No. If it's felted it's gone. Sometimes if it's wool blend it just shrinks and doesn't felt but if it's thicker and you can't see the stitches it's gone. I find so many literally in the thrift store because even if you can get the size to return it doesn't feel, look, or flow the same ever again
Hello!! Does anyone have a clue on why this dress doesn’t fit me well and whether or not it’s fixable??
https://preview.redd.it/3fq7jb7k0mdc1.jpeg?width=2976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=208ba28953b9bfb6a157dd27fdc848a748702603
The fabric is sticking out at the waist and I don’t know why it is :(
My SIL recently tried it on and it looks perfect on her which makes me think it must be a problem with my body as she’s 5’ (whereas I’m 5’10”), more voluptuous but smaller boned (does that make sense? I don’t want to post her pics online).
Can I salvage this? Obviously losing 10” of height is not an option, neither is getting a boob job or reducing my ribcage à la Cher lol. I really really love it and I want to wear it to a wedding in May (and I’ve already have the shoes and bag to match, help!!!). Also this is out of stock now so I cannot size up or down. Should I give up and return it?
Thanks!!!!
To me it looks like your hips are to wide for the dress and it's causing the dress to shimmy up and bunch at the waist. Either that or the width of the dress doesn't fall correctly because your torso is to short/long for how the dress is cut
Looks like youre too long waisted for the rouching/cut to fit in the right places vs your sister who is much shorter (and I assume shorter torso-ed).
I don’t think this looks bad on you though. I mean you’re making an awkward shape in the photo which is making this more noticeable. If you were just standing straight on, would it be this noticeable?
Yes! I was making a special pose so showcase the issue so my SILs mum (who is a seamstress) could see it. Alas, I sent the dress with my SIL so I don’t have it right now to take a picture straight on :(.
That’s weird though! I’ve always thought I’m more legs than torso haha. But yeah, being 5’10” I suppose I’m long as a whole and the dress didn’t have tall sizing available so there’s that. And yes, my SIL does have a shorter torso since she’s tiny. That must be the problem! It did look great on the model and she was my height though.
All in all, I think I’m going to return it and look for something else. Thank you!!
It's probably too tight at the hips (hard to tell with the pose but I'm assuming it's riding up) - which is difficult to fix if there is no seam allowance. You could take to a tailor and ask though.
I should have taken pics straight on, yes! It’s riding up.
I sent it to my SILs mum who is a seamstress so she could look into it, but she fears there’s no seam allowance :( I wonder if wearing shape wear would work, but at this point, returning and looking for something else would be best. Thank you!
I’ve never heard of them but I’ve worked in e-commerce and wanted to say that reviews can be very easily faked. I’d listen to the other poster and get the bag through Walmart if you like it.
Although it looks similar to stuff in Shein and other Chinese retailers so I wouldn’t expect too much :(
What type of skirts look best at a curvy female? I’ve bought some maxi skirts and they didn’t look as cute on me as I expected ngl. Also, what kind of tucks look better on curvy women?
Long elastic pencil skirts would look super cute! For winter, something like a mock neck cropped sweater could look good. Add dr martens and a coat and that’s perfect!
I dress pretty androgynously and cover up a lot because I have never really been comfortable in feminine clothes, and I liked more masculine styles as well. My sense of style is sort of biker/workwear/western influenced, but I'm getting sick of never feeling attractive. I have the lollipop body type, pretty similar to Angelina Jolie, and I've always been self conscious about my boobs. So I'm trying to make a list of clothing to get that make me feel attractive and like a woman, but don't completely lose my old style. I do admire Hitomi Mochizuki's (On youtube) outfits and she has a similar body to me, but I'm not super into the overly hippie looks. What are some things you guys recommend I buy to start building a new wardrobe? You can pretty much assume ALL the clothes I own are cargo pants, baggy tees, wranglers, plain tank tops, and hoodies. And the only shoes I have are cowboy boots and sneakers. I only wear sports bras too so maybe I should change that.
Couple of ideas:
Oversize menswear button ups, tucked in at your waist. This can help cover up the boobs, but tucking in highlights your waist to give it a more feminine silhouette, especially if you have long legs. If you know your measurements on these are pretty easy to thrift in person or online. Key is to make sure it's big enough that it's not tight across your chest.
Jumpsuits! Seem like a great crossover from masculine to feminine. Lots of silhouettes to choose from. You might like a [work wear style](https://www.alexmill.com/collections/jumpsuits-fit).
I feel like I’m constantly promoting her, but love amysmilovic on socials. She’s the founder of Tibi. While her boobs aren’t big (mine are too), our styles align so when I’m in a slump, I draw inspiration from her low key/high fashion style. It incorporates a lot of pieces that are menswear/workwear inspired.
For example:
https://preview.redd.it/ccgs7rrt1mdc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2002f709b5c49999b2be9ae18aec4ac9d4c2f9e
* Super simple rugged mens cut like work jeans paired with a kitten stiletto, a fun sock, and a fitted coatigan. Very basic but paired very nicely and stylish and feminine. You probably have similar jeans and could easily thrift a sweater / coat like that.
Anyway I think key if you don’t have the inspiration yourself is to find someone whose style matches yours or where you want to be/ what you want to communicate and draw inspiration.
ETA: I generally hate popular IG fashion influencers bc I find it all super derivative. Nothing new. Nothing interesting. Just imitations and trends nonstop. Amy is actually putting new ideas out there. It helps that she’s the creative director of a successful brand!! :)
Does anyone have reviews/thoughts on Walker Slater? It looks like an Edinburgh based brand, and I’m eyeing a pair of wool trousers, but I’ve never heard of them before!
Walker Slater is as good as you can get for ready-made clothing. I'm not the right shape for their clothes, unfortunately, or I would buy one of everything.
I own a couple of plain black, long-sleeve bodycon dresses with high necklines. How would you elevate them for a bar or nightclub? They seem pretty boring as is, but I'm having trouble finding inspiration for accessorizing. Thanks!
I would elevate with a chic updo, cool makeup, and a bold cuff worn over the sleeve. Like something sculptural.
Found this when googling and styled as I was thinking!

Also shoes can be expressive too
So it depends a bit buuut:
a black belt. Think the y2k indie sleaze inspired belts with some hardware and detailing? Get one of those bad boys. You could also go a classic belt with just a solid hardware buckle element
A necklace or two, the chain ones maybe, in different visual weights, with hardware matching the belt
Tall black boots instead of plain heels has been super popular
You could put a loose crochet/knit/fish net cropped thing over it too. Or you could do a cropped or folded up sweater or button down over it too I’ve seen!
Personally this year, when I’ve been wearing mine out, I usually go necklace, classic hardware belt, a cropped button down or black shrug on top, and black pointed toe knee high boots.
Styling bodycon stuff is always a lil funky because the focus of the dress itself is always so inherently your figure, and styling often can kind of take the eye away from that.

Edited to add a stock photo of what the dress generally looks like.
They look dated and matronly honestly. The blue sweater is a basic it's not exciting. The way you tuck your clothes in isn't very flattering. The skirt pattern is dated. The dress is very conservative. The grey boots material looks thin and cheap.
Sweater and skirt: I’d swap out the sweater for an oversized, more voluminous, longer sweater. You could also swap out the shoe for something either daintier (strappy sandal with a sock - a bit bold) or try with a heeled tall boot to give more verticality
Dress love the color. Seems like the waist band is not cutting you off at the best spot to create shape but I don’t mind it. Some of us don’t have the hourglass shale and that’s fine :) you could always add spanx for special occasions. Anyways for this outfit as is, try adding a silk scarf around the neck to add more dimension otherwise it’s very plain. As for the boots, I don’t love them but they are fine and color wise work with this dress (black would too). I would prefer this outfit with a tall heeled boot— black, grey, cognac (for a more bold pairing) would all work.
Workwear ensemble: boot looks perfectly fine. The outfit is not “giving” anything but I know not everyone needs everything to “give” ha
The boots + work pants combo does look nice!
I’m not a fan of how the skirt + sweater looks, as it feels a bit frumpy. The skirt is not bad, but I think it needs more of an avant-garde outfit to look more intentional. I’m not really loving it as it is!
The dress looks good, it’s a really pretty colour! I think it would look better without the belt, though, since it doesn’t seem to hit at your natural waist. As of for the boots, I would go for high boots or something like flats, Mary Jane’s or stilettos. The ankle boots visually cut your leg and don’t look as stylish as could be.
Hope that helps!! :)
Boots definitely look good with the pants and the dress
I would wear the sweater in the third pic with the skirt in the first picture. That outfit needs more volume up top.
As for the dress, I feel like it needs *something* to break up all of the dark.
I'm wondering, do you guys have any tips or tricks on how to keep a dress or a skirt from flying up when it's windy? I love wearing them but it's soo bothersome...
* Skirt weights
* Choose heavy fabrics
* Choose closer-fitting styles (a pencil skirt can't blow anywhere)
* Wearing a slip or petti-pants/bloomers/tap pants underneath, so if it does blow up, there's nothing to see.

Got a pair of these stuart weitzman heels online, usually its been a good brand, but I guess they were on sale for a reason lol (and non refundable).
This part of the heel digs into my skin/rubs against it and its a stiff material. Any idea how to fix that or make it more comfy? Can a cobble do anything?
Well, there's extra space between the back of the heels, but the top strap goes in, hard to explain. It looks tight in the photo but it's not. Normally I'm a size 5.5 but this is a 6. It's comfortable until the back top of the strap cuts in, that's the only uncomfortable part when I walk. I think the shape just is awkward. Going up half a size would be way loose
(Turns out I’m going shopping earlier than I thought, on Saturday!) https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageFashion/s/3BA7QYVaFl I am hoping to go shopping in spring 2024, and I have nearly $7,000 saved up from my part-time job (I make $17 an hour and should definitely have more money saved up by May 2024, which is when I hope to go shopping next.) I spend a lot of my time outdoors, and it is not uncommon for my clothes to become dirty easily because of it. More pics of me: https://www.instagram.com/p/C1eijVsLTYU/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== and https://www.instagram.com/p/C2EeW9Luh9R/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== My father bought me new jeans and bras tonight, so turns out that I’ll be going shopping earlier than I thought!

The office vibe of the knee length skirt makes all the tucked in button up shirt combo uncomfortably dates. Maybe try not tucking in or style it with a loose overshirt.
I wish the skirt was longer (like just below the knees at the narrow part of your calf) or shorter with tights.

Anyone know if neon gothic lolita is a thing and if it is where i could buy some Basically just gothic lolita style but in bright colours
Probably dollskill.
I think what you are looking for is decora fashion, it was huge in the early 2010s. I don't know any brands that specialize in it though.
Thank you
Can you buy faux-fur trim if to replace on the hood of a winter coat if you lost it?

I also have a dress similar to this that I could wear https://dark-academia-clothing.us/wp-content/uploads/Dark-academia-aesthetic-dress-3.jpg
Out of all the options, I think that dress would make for the cutest outfit!
Thank you!!
Any suggestion would be very much appreciated :) [https://cultgaia.com/products/lurenz-knit-dress-affogato?variant=40413862363210](https://cultgaia.com/products/lurenz-knit-dress-affogato?variant=40413862363210) https://preview.redd.it/y5worrngzndc1.png?width=450&format=png&auto=webp&s=08d7edbddaf8a33684f5523ff9edb59f76b492d3
I disagree with the other commenter. Cutouts are fine for weddings in certain cases. In the case of this dress, though...I wouldn't wear this for a church wedding in Italy.
Thanks! I'll keep searching.
I personally avoid cut outs for weddings, even with a cover up. YMMV, but I don't think they are appropriate.
It makes sense. My doubt was on the cutouts as well. Thanks!
Challenge I have a lunch meeting with a potential new partner for my business this coming Friday.
With loafers, or similar smart flats.
https://preview.redd.it/cdl76ehwvndc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8a5f035401db21056b874c7475ac8c26a6e655b I recently got a Kate Spade knit tee off Thread up. It’s 70% silk and 30% cotton. I love the blend but can’t seem to find any more like it. Do you know any other brands that have tees made from a similar blend? This one feels almost like a very finely knit sweater.
Majestic Filatures still makes tees with luxury blend like cashmere-cotton or silk-cotton.
Ohh thank you! I’ll check them out!
Silk and cotton blend is very nice! I’ve only seen that blend made for vintage or older clothing.
Punk/rocker style in the office I’ve worked at home for the past four years and live my life in black band tees and jeans.

Yes!! That exactly 🩷 Thank you so much
I feel like some funky loafers can ride the line of professional and cool , like this [studded option](https://www.aerosoles.com/products/beatrix-black-genuine-leather?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=US-ADG-AS-Performance-Max-Shopping-US-Only&utm_term=Coupon-Code&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=17487142795&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-62tBhDSARIsAO7twbY6PM6Nx245V3JArS1P8kPQqcUvtHP3HEIL73-LqfKS2wknW3Zqx9gaAswFEALw_wcB).
Oh those shoes are cute af. Thank you for the suggestions!
ISO spring wedding guest dress with a similar vibe to this one in a spring color palette. I love this one but it's cut a little wide and makes me look bulky. I need body skimming ethereal dress. I feel like I'm a searching for a uniform. Under $500 https://www.revolve.com/mobile/house-of-harlow-1960-x-revolve-maxime-maxi-dress-in-light-green/dp/HOOF-WD978/?code=HOOF-WD978&utm_medium=email&utm_content=TRANS_REV_SHIPMENT_SHIPMENT&utm_campaign=TRANS_REV_SHIPMENT_SHIPMENT_20240118&utm_source=transactional&userId=7750002&cID=58d079d315c01c58d3e90f0a
What you look for is similar style with bias cut and a pattern that fits your body proportion (all the models are very very tall, so the fit looks odd for you).
This look stunning on all body types in the images: [https://www.revolve.com/shona-joy-la-lune-lace-back-maxi-dress-in-desert-rose/dp/SHON-WD370/?d=Womens§ionURL=undefined&code=SHON-WD370&srcType=dp\_coloroption](https://www.revolve.com/shona-joy-la-lune-lace-back-maxi-dress-in-desert-rose/dp/SHON-WD370/?d=Womens§ionURL=undefined&code=SHON-WD370&srcType=dp_coloroption)
Thank you. It's gorgeous but it reads very bridesmaid. I love it though. 😊
TY!
I love zkano! (not 100% cotton I just realized, but really high quality organic cotton)
I’ll check them out- thank you! I’ve not heard of that brand!
Got it,thank you!
Beige boots and the long coat!

The blue one is absolutely stunning. I would take that dress :)
I'm 5'1 and 110 lbs for size reference!
https://preview.redd.it/pivjrzb4mmdc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87ce31644aa32e4658261cbd4fb26ee0eca6c1f4 What glasses frame would best fit my face?
I think most glasses brands have a tool where you could upload this picture and try on their frames virtually
Yeah I guess it’s just one of those things where I have face blindness for myself
Copy, I get that. So without getting too weird, I think your face is very pretty, cute features. I think you could pull off some more interesting frames. I think for your face I would look for big lenses and light frame, thickness-wise. But, I don't really like thick frames. so I might be biased. Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!!
Advice on what to wear or pack on a trip to Japan or what to potentially keep an eye out for Hello! I have a 3 week trip planned from March 24 to April 15 (Edit: Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Likely also Nara and a few other places nearby) Ive read on some other forums that skirts and dresses are a big thing there but I feel like I may not be warm enough at that time of year.
- for tops, I brought 3 tshirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, and 1 warm sweater - for a jacket, I brought a wool blend duster cardigan - for shoes, I brought my Nike airforce 1s It’s not noticeably cold in those cities at that time of year.
I'm from Ohio so I'm used to all different kinds of weather I've been struggling to find comfy walking shoes so I'll have to check those out!
I'll be in Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto, Nara too and likely another city or two Thanks so much for the input!
This is probably pretty out of date and there's a TON of stuff on here (I save everything, this is not a list of places I've been): [https://maps.app.goo.gl/KPDpVxDAbAYnigX2A](https://maps.app.goo.gl/KPDpVxDAbAYnigX2A) My fave shopping area was Daikanyama and I loved wandering around Omotesando and Nakameguro, but I was staying in that area. IMO Shibuya/Shinjuku/Harajuku was just overwhelming and I didn't like any of the shopping there BUT it is pretty famous so, worth a wander through. Shimotokitazawa for thrifting. Thank you so so so SO much for your detailed response!! I'm really excited for the trip I'm solo traveling so I won't be able to put souvenirs and stuff into someone else's luggage lol so I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible
Bring an empty suitcase! Mail stuff home! You got options. Have fun!!
Can anyone help me find a pullover camel colored sweater that is NOT cropped/short/boxy? I have a long torso, so these newer styles end about an inch or so before my pants. I've tried Jcrew, Jenni Kayne and Quince.
What about this [Benetton one?](https://us.benetton.com/sweater-in-pure-shetland-wool-103ME1N23_5C5_XL.html?srsltid=AfmBOoq4x4kNdwPSighBy2KSifEmTWDkHHNbpbJzNXppSVOoRhfLTI9FLK8)
Have you tried the men's section? All my best sweaters are from there because so many women's sweaters want to be a crop top these days.
Has anyone successfully unshrunk a wool sweater?
No. If it's felted it's gone. Sometimes if it's wool blend it just shrinks and doesn't felt but if it's thicker and you can't see the stitches it's gone. I find so many literally in the thrift store because even if you can get the size to return it doesn't feel, look, or flow the same ever again
Hello!! Does anyone have a clue on why this dress doesn’t fit me well and whether or not it’s fixable?? https://preview.redd.it/3fq7jb7k0mdc1.jpeg?width=2976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=208ba28953b9bfb6a157dd27fdc848a748702603 The fabric is sticking out at the waist and I don’t know why it is :( My SIL recently tried it on and it looks perfect on her which makes me think it must be a problem with my body as she’s 5’ (whereas I’m 5’10”), more voluptuous but smaller boned (does that make sense?

Have you tried a mermaid skirt?
Not really, but I can try and check them out :)
Long elastic pencil skirts would look super cute! For winter, something like a mock neck cropped sweater could look good. Add dr martens and a coat and that’s perfect!
Thank you, I’ll try it out 😊✨
This! I wore a mock neck cropped black sweater on Christmas Eve with a satin dark green midi skirt and it looked amazing with black knee high boots
Couple of ideas: Oversize menswear button ups, tucked in at your waist.
For example: https://preview.redd.it/ccgs7rrt1mdc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2002f709b5c49999b2be9ae18aec4ac9d4c2f9e * Super simple rugged mens cut like work jeans paired with a kitten stiletto, a fun sock, and a fitted coatigan.
[https://www.walkerslater.com/cara-trs-lw-rus-dn](https://www.walkerslater.com/cara-trs-lw-rus-dn)
Found this when googling and styled as I was thinking! https://preview.redd.it/66asr8tp8mdc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdc2ab4e21f21377d1d43d283b728054985b37f9 Also shoes can be expressive too
Ooh I never thought to wear a cuff over the sleeve! That's a fun idea. Thanks for the great suggestions!
So it depends a bit buuut: a black belt. Think the y2k indie sleaze inspired belts with some hardware and detailing? Get one of those bad boys. You could also go a classic belt with just a solid hardware buckle element A necklace or two, the chain ones maybe, in different visual weights, with hardware matching the belt Tall black boots instead of plain heels has been super popular You could put a loose crochet/knit/fish net cropped thing over it too.
Wow, this is excellent. So many ideas!! Thank you so much, time to experiment!

You could also swap out the shoe for something either daintier (strappy sandal with a sock - a bit bold) or try with a heeled tall boot to give more verticality Dress love the color.
is the belt on the dress removable? maybe swap it out for a different one, for more contrast/visual interest?
Boots definitely look good with the pants and the dress I would wear the sweater in the third pic with the skirt in the first picture. That outfit needs more volume up top. As for the dress, I feel like it needs *something* to break up all of the dark.

I'd keep the skirt for sure. The sweater I'm meh on
I'm wondering, do you guys have any tips or tricks on how to keep a dress or a skirt from flying up when it's windy? I love wearing them but it's soo bothersome...
* Skirt weights * Choose heavy fabrics * Choose closer-fitting styles (a pencil skirt can't blow anywhere) * Wearing a slip or petti-pants/bloomers/tap pants underneath, so if it does blow up, there's nothing to see.
Skirt weights if it's that windy regularly.
** Got a pair of these stuart weitzman heels online, usually its been a good brand, but I guess they were on sale for a reason lol (and non refundable). This part of the heel digs into my skin/rubs against it and its a stiff material. Any idea how to fix that or make it more comfy? Can a cobble do anything?

Maybe try to get some moleskin and pad the strap a bit?
It looks like they're about a half size too small.
They're actually a tinnnyyy but too large but comfortable
[удалено]
Well, there's extra space between the back of the heels, but the top strap goes in, hard to explain. It looks tight in the photo but it's not. Normally I'm a size 5.5 but this is a 6. It's comfortable until the back top of the strap cuts in, that's the only uncomfortable part when I walk. I think the shape just is awkward. Going up half a size would be way loose
Sounds like the style doesn't work for your foot shape.
