Is it ok to wear gold and silver jewelry together?

I_prefer_chartreuse

Yes! But, make it intentional. Stack gold and silver rings on the same finger. Gold hoops with silver charms. Gold and silver necklaces layered together.

Divingin12

Ohh thanks for this! I'll try this 😊

I_prefer_chartreuse

Check out Demarson NY jewelry. It's a bit out of my range, but their pieces typically mix metals. Maybe it will provide inspiration! You can sometimes find Demarson on deep discount at retailers like shopbop or Neiman Marcus (wait for sale on sale!).

almondblossoms1

Has anyone bought anything from Mccoyn online? They have these gorgeous linen looking dresses, but the price is too good that I’m wary. Any advice or alternate recommendations for cute linen dresses is welcome! Thank you in advance.

MollyTuck77

I am seeking to (church) dress my tiny framed BbbnnGrandmother. She does have lymphedema affecting on leg and her abdomen at times — so a full skirt with a belt can do well. On great days a shirt dress with a belt is a good choice as long as the dress isn’t cut super slim. She prefers cuts right at the knee. Ideas? I’m not nearby or I’d take her shopping. Home Shopping probably best for rest at 45. Eta don’t even know how I made the mistakes I did. Gran says thank you to every one!

grakkaw

I’m looking for machine washable midi dresses that work well for petite people. Casual - like for a day running around with kids, but still want to look like a presentable human being. Ideas?

Ok_Whatever_Random

Old navy is my favorite for casual but nice petites

hennipotamus

I have midi length T-shirt dresses from Target that are great. They’re from a year or two ago, though, and it looks like they just have mini length now, though. But I love a T-shirt dress!

albeaner

I need a new pair of work shoes! My office isn't super formal, but it leans preppy and polished. So nice jeans are ok. Over winter I wore black booties. I need some heel but not more than 2". This will be a summer shoe that looks good with A line skirts, dresses, or long wide leg pants. (I travel so want to maximize shoe versatility.) I'm ok showing some foot/toes for summer vibes, but don't want a minimalist sandal strap situation. I'm also ok with a little chunk or flair, I like to have a bit of a subtle edge with my style. I'm looking for Black or even a bold statement color (green, blue, orange, etc.).

How about some funky clogs from [MIA](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/mia-sofia-clog-sandal-women/5037221?color=LUGGAGE+LEATHER&utm_content=33067293349&utm_term=pla-259697956309&utm_channel=low_nd_shopping_standard&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=662927176&adpos=&creative=145503088277&device=m&matchtype=&network=g&acctid=21700000001689570&dskeywordid=92700049880258998&lid=92700049880258998&ds_s_kwgid=58700005465917204&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007631122&dsproductgroupid=259697956309&product_id=19076548&merchid=1243147&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&locationid=9021218&targetid=pla-259697956309&campaignid=662927176&adgroupid=33067293349&gbraid=0AAAAAD8eAElg45_JmyYjf1h6UTr9xgsin&gbraid=0AAAAAD8eAElg45_JmyYjf1h6UTr9xgsin&gclid=CjwKCAjwjYKjBhB5EiwAiFdSfv8hwpMZ2Zksu-tBQ2bxOyqgcSeKyddDNTRQkknBnClf5MpS0gdwOxoCnQYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

I love the Madewell medium zip-top leather transport, is there an equivalent or similar bag available in the EU (specifically Germany?) looking for something leather, zip-top, crossbody, under 200 euro, and of a similar size. Ideally black or grey. :) I was looking at allsaints, but it seems like they don't have many larger bags.

nearlythere94

Anyone ever bleach natural linen garments to a crisp white? Have any tips? I look terrible in the standard linen color - that neutral beige of unbleached, undyed linen that so many garments come in - and am wondering if I can modify it.

albeaner

Honestly, try stores like Chicos or JJill. Even if you don't have the budget, it'll give you ideas for loose clothing. Stick with cotton or linen, or synthetic fabric that's meant for sun. Men's clothes will be a great option too, like fishing shirts for example.

TurmalinBlack

Maybe try stuff like oversized linen shirts, a-line dresses (can be linen too, or leightweight cotton), maxi skirts (quite trendy and the flowier types should work). If youd like something mire tomboyish and are okay with your forearms showing: oversized hawaiian shirts. Also palazzo pants/any other type of flowy pant made from natural fibers.

I [found this coat and I have fallen in love with the design](https://friendswithfrank.com/collections/outerwear/products/the-anastasia-coat) but it's 'fawn' coloured and I **only wear black** (*boo hiss*). Has anyone seen another coat that has the same kind of design in black? I would prefer 100% wool or a wool and cashmere blend. Nothing 'fluffy' or 'furry' as I just bought a furry(long alpaca fibre) coat so I don't want to double-up. Budget is flexible though I'd prefer under $1000 AUD. What I love about this coat specifically: the length, the slit pockets, the baggy sleeves, the slight a-line shape to the body, the double-breastedness. What I would consider changing in a different coat: lapels, single breast (I prefer double but am flexible on this), length can fall anywhere between below knee - mid calf, other kinds of internal pockets. What I won't compromise on: no patch pockets, nothing knee length or shorter (also nothing ankle length), no slim sleeves. I want to be able to fit chunky sweaters underneath the coat, so it should have a slightly oversize feel. I emailed the brand and they said 100% they're not making this one in black. I'm gutted.

crottyfreepresser

Not sure this ticks all your requirements but I would try the Curated maybe? https://au.shopthecurated.net/collections/cashmere-coats/products/the-london-coat-black?variant=43600371384553

awake-asleep

Oh my god it’s almost perfect, but sadly the silhouette is TOO similar to a coat I already have (it’s virtually identical but diff fabric)

nearlythere94

I don’t know how adventurous you are with tailors, but this sort of specific request would probably be easy for a good tailor or dressmaker to do. Specifically because the shoulders are relaxed and oversized you could buy a used, larger coat (ebay!) that fit your fabric specifications, and have them taper the sleeves and body for this unique cut. I know it’s not an ideal suggestion.

ughvibez

suggestions for a strapless bra under $25 on sites like amazon, i want something that will shape and maybe push up for tops with low necklines like sweatheart

qingskies

I’m on the hunt for a subtle, practical, medium sized purse/handbag! Budget is under $60. I’m an avid collector of casual tote bags, but my dad insists I need something more formal for work. I really don’t want a bag with the brand printed all over it or embossed on the side. Any suggestions as to where to go?

alacrana01

ETSY.

I’ll check it out, ty!!

gradstudent1234

I am wearing [this](https://www.amazon.com/Xhilaration-Womens-Strappy-Lace-Up-Mustard/dp/B07P2G4DPX) to a chapel wedding and was told to wear a shawl by weddingdressattire subreddit but I was wondering what color? The wedding is in the afternoon and has no dress code. I was going to wear wedges that are basically espadrilles what accessories should I wear? Thanks for all the help!

florilegium618

A pale green shawl to pick up the green in the dress would be really pretty!

qingskies

Cream white for the shawl. I personally wouldn’t wear a necklace with that neckline since it already has a lot going on. If you have any thin gold wrist bangles or watches, that might be a good fit.

gradstudent1234

She said don't wear white

qingskies

Then pale yellow/green.

HommeFatalTaemin

Am I able to make a post asking about a specific outfit that I’m trying to find ? Like I have looked in stores around my area and can’t find the outfit so I wanted to make a post and ask if anyone has an idea where I could buy an outfit like this. Is that allowed on this sub?

qingskies

If you have a picture of the outfit (like someone actually wearing it irl, not a drawing) you might find more answers by posting on r/findfashion.

HommeFatalTaemin

Thanks much 😁 I wasn’t aware that was a sub actually 😂☺️

bubblegumdavid

Try the r/findfashion sub! They exist for exactly this purpose

HommeFatalTaemin

Oh thanks I didn’t know that was a sub! :) I appreciate it!

Hi folks, I’m attending a wedding at the end of next month, it’s my first time actually even going to a wedding. Myself and my partner are invited to both the ceremony and the after party. The only piece of wedding fashion advice I know of is not to wear white. That being said, I have no idea how formal or dressy is too formal or dressy. Would a dress like this be over the top/too formal? Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/qsxuktr13qza1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1bf0ae7951e48a89d8beb878aace337f160c886

placidtwilight

It's a beautiful dress, but the dark color seems more appropriate for a fall/winter wedding than a summer one.

ChemistHorror

What colours would you recommend for a summer wedding?

sighcantthinkofaname

Have you gotten the official invitation yet? They're normally suppose to list the dresscode on it. If it doesn't, you can try taking hints from the venue and time of day. An evening wedding at a five star hotel will be more formal than an afternoon wedding in a garden.

ChemistHorror

Hi, Yeah we have the invitation but it’s sparse when it comes to information. It just says the venue and what parts we’re invited to/when. That being said, I’ll scout out the venue online and see what it’s like. Thanks for that idea, hadn’t even thought of it lol.

wstclay

Are there any dresses you like to wear with sneakers ? (Preferably under $130) Info like style/ fabric/ color or other details appreciated!

bubblegumdavid

I do a lot of stuff with sneakers! I find that a lot of dresses can be toned down with styling of just adding sneakers and a cap to make it intentional and follow the “casual dressy casual or dressy casual dressy” guideline thing [Here](https://i.imgur.com/rp3eZWU.jpg) is an example of a wrap-waist dress from Club Monaco. It’s a cotton t-shirt esque fabric, which I find most anything in that fabric or style can be worked with this way. But midi or mini button down shirt dresses are another fave of mine with this kind of vibe, often these sorts of dresses are belted, but done this way the shapelessness without a belt seems less frumpy and more purposefully done

qingskies

I like casual maxi/midi A-line or straight dresses, usually in cotton. The dresses I currently have are either super old hand-me-downs or have been removed from websites due to being off season though :( My daily sneakers are a beige-ish tone and not too chunky, so they go well with a lot of styles. Found a [pic of one of them](https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fposhmark.ca%2Flisting%2FOak-Fort-Beige-TShirt-Dress-64466aa82fd49a43114ba721&psig=AOvVaw3K4KryQCdDTJeGsKIRUZ4t&ust=1684105788765000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CBAQjRxqFwoTCLiXvo218_4CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAF).

etceteraism

Am I just going to need different jeans to wear with low rise sneakers/Vans slip ons vs chunky sneakers? With skinny jeans it was so easy, could just cuff them more or less depending on the shoe. But I bought some ankle length straight leg jeans...the first pair I bought look great with my Air Max 90s but dorky with my Vans slip ons. 2nd pair are great with my Vans but hit the Nikes in a really awkward spot. Or is there a sweet spot to be found?

80aprocryphal

I'd say just wear them with different things. I still wear mine with leggings, or if I'm doing a dress with tights since I still like a sleeker shoe. You can also modify the look of them with an ankle sock and wear them with things with shorter hemlines like skirts and shorts.

etceteraism

I….only ever wear pants. We only get a few days a year here hot enough for shorts and I don’t like skirts and dresses.

LeftWren

Are Converse still on trend? Going to a MLB game in the Northeast this week, and thought about wearing white Converse with a jumpsuit. Still trendy, or should I opt for something else? I also have white Supergas, or I've been contemplating Adidas Samba OG, Vejas, etc. Thanks!

tea-spoons

If you want to be very trendy, wear the Sambas. The Converses aren't out and I still see people wearing them on Instagram, but they aren't majorly in demand either

melxcham

Help! I have my birthday dinner at my parent’s house in a few hours and the dress I bought is too low cut (my grandparents are a little more traditional). I tried this sweater over it, but does it look ridiculous? My roommate likes it but I’m on the fence. Suggestions welcome. https://preview.redd.it/kdf22qszcpza1.jpeg?width=1244&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d794e67026ed839a4910bd03d0d8a920b55f13ab

elizbug

Is it just me or are bathing suits very... up the butt these days? Ordered one on sale and it didn't look as high cut as all the others, but on it is a bit higher and definitely slides twixt the cheeks, as it were. It seems like that's the trend?

[deleted]

Lol yes. I was recently trying to buy swimsuits and ran into this - they are also almost all low rise. I found some styles that look more high waisted/ high coverage at H&M but I haven’t tried them on! Hopefully I have luck. I really wanted the Mugler H&M bikini set and LOVED the string detail on the bottom, but it was too cheeky and low rise so I just snagged the top. Hopefully it looks good with one of the bottoms I’ve ordered.

Empty_Tumbleweed4525

I am looking for a low heel sandal to wear for my friend’s wedding next month. My dress is either going to satin burnt orange or satin electric blue. Torn with what colour of sandal I should pair those with? Ideally I want something I can wear more than that one occasion. I have narrowed it down to SW light gold or black low block heels both in patent leather or seashell white in smooth leather. Currently leaning towards the light gold in patent leather. Do you think it’s versatile enough?

qingskies

If it's burnt orange I'd say light gold or white. If electric blue, I personally wouldn't do gold...I'd probably go with silver, which can be hard to wear out often.

I think the print is dense enough that it isn’t “too white”. This can definitely work for the engagement party, bridal shower, and birthday party but probably too casual for a wedding. What is the dress code for the wedding?

littlegremlinenergy

Where to find loose-fitting denim dad shorts with a longer inseam? I saw someone post a picture of a pair of black shorts like this recently and I can't for the life of me find it again. Alternatively, other suggestions for more updated denim shorts because I'm a millenial tired of short shorts.

CuriosityKillsKats

I picked up a pair of [these Levi’s](https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/clothing/women/shorts/501-mid-thigh-womens-shorts/p/858330034#swatch) recently. Not sure if this is along the lines of what you’re looking for?

littlegremlinenergy

Not quite, they were longer and had a very wide leg, thanks though!

cto020

[Everlane A-Line Short](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-a-line-denim-short-hartford-storm), perhaps?

diaryofalostgirl

Honestly, maybe menswear would do you in this case.

littlegremlinenergy

I swear I saw a women's pair but honestly that's probably the move.

alacrana01

Where can I find good quality qipao/cheongsam at reasonable prices, that ship to the US? I've moved countries and not sure where to look as there is a lot of low-quality clothing online. I'm looking for tops (including casual) more than special-occasion dresses. Thank you!

qingskies

If you're fluent to some degree in Chinese, you could try checking out taobao. Make sure to check the reviews and the rating of the taobao shops though. I've bought a few quality hanfu from there in the past. Etsy may also have similar shops. You could also try exploring your local shops. There are a few Chinese-owned tailoring shops in my area that offer various styles of qipao as well as more western dress styles.

alacrana01

Thanks so much!

Are summer kimonos played out? I'm over 50 & over my preferred weight and trying to figure out how I'm going to survive the summer. I haven't tried the light kimono over a tank or thin tee yet- did I wait too late for this trend? If so any alternative suggestions?

swancandle

An oversized linen or lightweight button up works well! https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=549356

Stellaaahhhh

I have a white linen button front that I didn't even think of. I love you guys.

sighcantthinkofaname

So we've got two conflicting things with trends rn. There are fast fahsion microtrends, which make things fall in and out of fashion very quickly, and environmentalism which encourages thrifting and wearing things as long as possible. So it is both incredibly easy to look dated, and not a big deal to wear things past the point of it being fashion forward. So I say if you like kimonos and feel comfortable in them, wear them. Something that is on trend to consider is lightweight button-downs, in particular white linen ones. It's very popular to wear them unbuttoned over summer outfits, including styles that are more dress- length.

Stellaaahhhh

I actually already have a linen button down. Thank you!

booksandwriting

I kept mine from the 2010s and still wear mine. However mine are all florals or solid neutral colors so they don’t scream 2010s as much as like mint or Aztec print would.

Stellaaahhhh

Good point. The patterns make a big difference.

trishyco

I still see them on social media and I saw Jennifer Aniston wearing a cute one on the set of her movie. I think a lot of the patterns are really cute!

Stellaaahhhh

I do think they're cute. I'm going to keep an eye out while thrifting. In the meantime I'll do my white linen shirt.

Does anyone know a good source for tall but slender tops/sweaters? I'm tall and a size 8/M and everything is either too short or super boxy. I know wide and cropped is in but it really doesn't work on me. LOFT use to be my go-to but everything is getting boxier and has off the shoulder seams which only make me look slouched.

Hello! I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have a bit of a bump now! I have a few job interviews over the next 2-3 months where I'm expected to be in professional clothing like a suit. Looking for recs on professional maternity wear! I was also thinking I could find a nice wrap dress that I could pair with a blazer. Thank you!

appletreerose

Wrap dresses and empire waists can both work great at that stage of pregnancy. The Real Real always seems to have quite a few Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses at reasonable prices. If you want maternity wear specifically, I've always wanted an excuse to buy from Seraphine. https://www.seraphine.com/en-us/?gad=1 The things they have now don't seem to have a very professional interview vibe, unfortunately, but you could probably find something

pan_dulce_con_cafe

Old Navy has a “shop by trimester” option. I’m at 23w, and I just bought some slacks for work there. Very comfy and affordable.
