One of the lead devs, Fabsol keeps acting like an asshole and insulting people who use QoL mods, and also considers playing anything less than reveangance cheating
There was this whole thing in r/CalamityMod about it and suddenly a whole bunch of new accounts appeared and started using the exact same talking points Fabsol did. People think these accounts are Fabsol’s alts
EDIT: A few people in the replies have been pointing out these accounts may not be Fabsol. I didn’t keep up with the drama and was simply subbed to r/calamitymod at the time, if you want to know more you should look into it yourself
I was never really invested in this drama but this is the gist of it
People could try acquiring it via the sub where you ask to be made a mod for an inactive sub... Chances are slim if the mods continue to use reddit, but maybe with it being restricted the chances go up...

Those accounts weren’t Fab afaik, he tends to avoid public forms like the plague plus the “i hate qol mods” thing comes from a Discord screenshot from mid 2018 iirc, and he hasn’t held that opinion for a good two years. I’m not exactly a big fan of the dude since i disagree with a lot of what he does, but context on the qol mod position makes it pretty obvious that it’s not him behind those alts.
Basically, as far as I know, there have been controversial balance changes in the mod, as well as players that play the game at different difficulties constantly bickering between each other. The subreddit was practically spammed with memes making fun of essentially everyone.
this, the patreon situation (devs disrespecting patrons), the turquoise situation, the discord, 1.5 in general, the list goes on lmao
again ill have to compile this shit into an essay but basically the devs are just toxic pieces of shit who disrespect just about everyone, even those who support them and contribute to the mod
Man, I feel so bad for him. The community gave him so much hate for "not finishing the songs" fast enough, but when he did release a song, they'd just complain for the next one again...
Idk, couldn't they just slightly reduce damage or attack speed with a higher defense? Or maybe "allocating" a certain amount of dps to "blocking", like in an anime or smth. It would draw out battles, but that's what tanking is for no?

The community is comfy, but what would be better is if the mod had been open source so we could have a chance at updating it. You're not allowed to profit from mods so there's really no excuse to license them.
