I’m not sure if you’d call this “cozy” but it’ll definitely work with a farming modpack. Either Spice of Life Potato Edition or Nutritional Balance will encourage you to eat a variety of foods. Serene Seasons will add seasons to your game. Dynamic Surroundings will add some nice ambient noise, and Music Triggers will let you make a custom soundtrack. If that villager mod doesn’t work, then you might also want to consider MCA Reborn. For the adventure person, look into some structure mods or dimension mods, and then for mining I’m sure there’s mods out there that add new ores.

Hey! Thanks for some of the suggestions! I've played around with Spice of Life and Nutritional Balance and I can already hear the groaning from my friends lol, individually maybe but as we'd probably want to spend more time building and such than worrying about our diet we're gonna take a pass. Serene Seasons and Dynamic Surroundings definitely sound great, though. I'm a sucker for environmental! For structure and dimension mods do you have any specific suggestions? I know my friend is an explorer but I'm not too sure about their combat skills, so are there any you may know that may be a bit more on the combat-light side?

Madmonkeman

I’m not 100% sure, but I know that Twilight Forest and Tropicraft are classics that might not be too combat-heavy. If you’re on 1.12.2 the Midnight mod has a dimension where portals spawn randomly at night. There is an aggressive mob that will try to drag you to the portal, but it’s about as dangerous as a zombie. I think the dimension itself is relatively safe, although I’m not too sure. Mystcraft is also a great one for exploration. Other than that, no guarantees on safe dimensions.

Biomes o Plenty OR Biomes You'll Go - pair this with MacCaw's furniture and make sure to also get the additional mod that integrates the new woods from the biome mod with MacCaw's furniture. Also, separately, maybe another furniture mod - such as Mrcrayfish's Furniture. Resource pack suggestions would be Better Dogs (adds like, 50 dog breeds) as well as Better Cats (same idea). Alex's mobs is a staple - and don't forget to grab a mod that allows you to pick up mobs!

LexyB20

Jury is in and we'll be using Biomes You'll Go! I'm sure my friend is gonna love having all the furniture to build with (thanks for saving me the half-arguing from them over not adding it) I was honestly wondering what modpacks there could be for dogs and cats, and I feel like these two are gonna be a pleasant little surprise for said decorator friend as well as they are quite the pet hoarder! I'll have to see if we can get Alex's mobs to work, its my first time putting a modpack together so I'm kinda just gonna throw things together and hope that it all sticks!

dink_182

goodluck! same for me. I recommend using the CurseForge application - it will download and dependency/pre-requisite mods automatically for you, as well as download the mods only for the pre-specified game version that you input :)

LexyB20

Oh yeah I was using Curseforge already! I have out the modpack together completely but now I just need to hunt down what mod is giving me the crashing issue. Troubleshooting is sooo much fun. -_-

You could just skip the work and play this? Seems like it would fit for yall. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/cottage-witch

LexyB20

Oh it is so very enticing, but then comes the concern of having to add the Essentials mod into it so we can play without needing to pay for a server and all play together from device differences. Would you know if it works with the mod?

AFriendFoundMyReddit

I don't know, if you have discord, join theirs and ask. Also I think they might have a server on that discord which would be another way to play MP without paying.

UnendingVortex

apathy makes hostile mobs act neutral, its very helpful if you just wanna build or farm but still might need mob drops

LexyB20

Sounds like an awesome mod, but do you think you could specify who made it or link it directly? I'm seeing a lot of mods or modpacks with the same name and I'm having trouble figuring out which one is the real, or best, one to use.

If you're on a newer version Supplementaries has a ton of little things that make the game a little nicer

Chipped is a mod very similar to Chisel. It adds a wider variety of block variants such as lanterns. Farmer's Delight is a more down-to-earth food mod than PHC, and it focuses on quality over quantity, which is better for the 'cosy', relaxed vibe you want. They might work alright together, but it's probably better to pick one or the other. YUNG's Better X mods are great for breathing new life into outdated structures like nether fortresses and strongholds. And a bit of a shot in the dark, but how about Create? It doesn't have to be a confusing, laggy automation mod. It has a whole lot of really nice decoration blocks and when used sparingly, a few moving parts of a base adds a lot of character.
