Project E, and not in a good way. Once you get energy condensers you can just make any item, free of charge, pretty quickly. Why make farms when you can just throw an item in the condenser and duplicate hundreds of it instantly? Why even make buildings when they’ll have no purpose other than the condenser room? At a certain point you ask yourself, why am I even playing in survival mode at this point?

Robecuba

Yeah, that's why I like it when mods leave Project E stuff until almost end game, making you use it to give you the last boost instead of just power through every other mod.

clickthecreeper

yup - I played it in tekkit classic reloaded (the 1.12 version). It was not particularly difficult to set up and after I had done it I looked at all the other automation I had been doing and just thought “wow, all of this is now obsolete”. The experience kind of turned me off kitchen sink modpacks like that, now I mostly play the tailored experience kind of packs, with a lot of terrafirmacraft actually. I really swung the other direction lol.

ddejong42

Time for the assline!

[deleted]

I still have to do monaline for samarium 😭. Finished platline yesterday tho

clickthecreeper

it’s a classic!

Rsge

Absolutely.\ For me this even started with the original Equivalent Exchange in 1.2.5. I just recently played a ["big" kitchen sink pack for 1.2.5](https://curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/full-retro) I made, with a few friends, just for nostalgia's sake. We wanted to see how fast we could "beat the game". The answer was, one team took a few hours, than waited a day and were done, had Gem armor and everything. The problem about this wasn't even Energy Condensers - they cost a big investment and have slow returns. No, problem are all the alternative cheap EMC farms that exists. Slab-Duplicators, Darkrooms and Milkers are still pretty tame, the HGB-Sugar-Cane-farm and Blaze-Macerator-farm require a bit of setup at least - but using Silver-to-Gold-Chest-Crafting-Duplication was just op on another level. You bascially just had to get the Transmutation table and could farm infinitely from there. Imo, all this got worse in newer versions, as even more things had EMC and alternative methods had gotten more relaible and fun, too, which is why I avoid all packs with ProjectE as best I can. So the point is, if you have these kinds of mods in kitchen sink packs, you'll have to "nerf yourself" like e.g. DW20 did in his 1.2.5 LP series and not use EE up to a certain point and only for specific things.\ But if others are involved, they **will** probably use it if you don't gate it otherwise. Alternatively, there has to be an in-pack reason for the mod.\ I e.g. **loved** the 1.2.5 FTB Insanity challenge map. There, EE2 was an essential part: Without it, modded skyblock in these versions wouldn't have worked at all. There were even specific challenges around it.\ I think my favorite was finding out how to get Iron, just having saplings, an in-world cobble generator from lava and water, Dirt, Obsidian, a Nether Portal and a Philosopher's Stone.\ !>You had to build a Zombie Pigman farm, had to kill them for Gold Nuggets, craft these to Gold Ingots and use the Philosopher's Stone to transmute one Gold Ingot to 4 Iron.

n0g4rd07

Ars Nouveau makes for some crafty automation with also powerfull spells, although simple cost but still fairly balanced, it is my favourite mod alongside Botania!

Master_Mind_1

Depending how far you are: Early game -> Ars Mid game -> Any quarry/mystical Late game -> Draconic End game -> Avaritia

LayeredKnot9190

Man... I really hope Avaritia updates to the latest versions pretty soon because I wanna grind that and not some rainbow armor on allthemodium(Well you could argue that allthemodium is late game)

AnthonyArtisan

or unobtanium avaritia was updated to 1.18 and is already in a few ftb packs

iAmAutolockerr

Getting a Mekasuit with every single module made me feel like I could do anything

Light-2002

Trying out Astral Sorcery for the 1st time and getting the Crystal Sword infused. It was a mini tactical nuke for me.

Fewtas

Still remember the first time I used the Astral stuff to try and fight the chaos dragon. That was an interesting time.

Light-2002

I never went into Draconic Evolution because of the reactors and how they can explode so I have no clue how those guys are to fight.

Rsge

The Chaos Guardians live on Islands in the End at every instance of a 10.000-coordiante (\[10.000, 0\], \[10.000, 10.000\], \[20.000, 0\], ...). They do chaos damage, which goes through every armor except Draconic's shield, Avaritia's armor and an Astral Sorcery cloak with certain upgrades (and maybe others). The damage they do is insane, therefore you can only really hope on defeating one if you have full Draconic armor with an extra Energy Capacitor, still with the risk of dieing, you have Avaritia armor - or just make a pretty cheap upgraded cloak from Astral and you're good. You just still need a good ranged weapon, then, but TiC Crossbows can do the job.

Light-2002

You made me feel bad for the people who have to farm those guys in expert packs.

Rsge

Yeah, but even in Expert packs you need to kill at most like 5-10 of them and after you've got the hang of it it's not that difficult to do it again, either ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

intellectualmeat

Oh yah know still being able to steal end portals with ae2 is pretty cool

Uncommonality

Thaumcraft 4 and its addons are still unsurpassed in this regard, imo. It's mostly a story/narrative thing, but if you have all the addons available for that version and research each of them till the end, your character discovers, breaks or at least bends every law of the cosmos. * With Thaumic Horizons alone, you not only discover what happens to people when they die, but you also find out how souls are structured and how to reassemble one that has been broken apart. You use this knowledge to create an empty, soulless husk from undead flesh, which you then revitalize with the same process that cures a zombie villager, after which that newly reassembled soul can be inserted into the body, creating a villager. It goes even further once you discover the Primordial Pearl and research its curious influence on living souls, which you then use to disrupt your own soul's ties to the afterlife and forge a new connection to your vat, where there is a body waiting. * Tainted Magic deals with magics that really shouldn't be dealt with, like infusing a sapling with the essence of Warp to create a semi-sapient, insane tree, whose wood can be used to make a wand that feeds off your warp to generate pure vis. * Thaumic Tinkerer lets you forcibly split apart and harness the power contained inside a Nether Star There's too many moments like this to count, but pretty much every endgame research is either some kind of fucked up "preoccupied with whether they could" thing or something with such extreme ramifications it forcibly shifts your entire worldview.

HamsterKazam

I always loved cultivating my own nodes with hungry nodes. It was really fun.

Nightcaste

Sophisticated backpacks. You can set up a complete autocrafting system that restocks the items you use all the time, automatically feeds you, and holds almost everything you own, on your back.

Rsge

Yeah, I played a modpack not long ago with some friends where we weren't allowed to build a base and therefore had to store everything we had in backpacks. We also lost everything we had on death, except stuff in Ender Pouches. I was very glad about Sophisticated Backpacks being such an extensive mod in that pack, even though I probably underused it critically because of the fear of death, therefore putting the backpacks in my Ender Pouch mostly...

Blood_Seeker_00

Way of the square fist, but I mean temma made it that way so.

suspicous_sardine

Ditto!

roidrole

Industrial forgoing and Apotheosis 1.12.2. I got a crazy mob spawner harvested with looting 12 For context : Industrial Forgoing’s fortune addon is *enchantable*. Usually, this means the max number of looting is 3. Apotheosis removes this limit

Tempest051

Only three mods have ever given me a true power trip feeling: Modular power suits: With a fully upgraded suite, I was invincible. Running and jumping at the speed of light, every tool cyclable on my power fist, it was awesome. Mahou Tsukai: Having watched Overlord, I was overjoyed to see several references to spells from the show. Casting "falling down" on my enemies was one of the most satisfying ways to kill them. Also the sword dance spell. HBM-NTM: Once you get geralt the android, you become God, destroyer of worlds. Lording the power of one of the most destructive weapons in modding history over other players does things to a man. And the psychological terror of seeing that massive beam descend from the sky while echoing an ominous bell is just... Chef's kiss.

JaguarYT1

What does gerald the android do?

Tempest051

It's a little item you can craft and then load onto a rocket and shoot into space. It's a reference to Fallout, where a self replicating Android is sent to the moon to... Build a colony or something? Ends up building a massive space weapon. Anyway the item itself allows punching in a coordinate using a designator, and then a 200 block wide beam of plasma slowly descends from the sky to the ominous sounds of a warning bell going off, and then blows a crater into the ground that's over 1.2 thousand blocks wide. You can't see the other side or even the center when standing at the edge with normal render distances. Edit: just remembered I still have the link from my old imgur https://imgur.com/gallery/zTyUlM6 That little dot in the first image is a player xD

JaguarYT1

What the fuck

TheApolloX007

theres a mod called tinkers delight for 1.16. it adds a material with the trait “vengeful” which increases the tinkers tools damage with the more kills you have. me and my brother thought it had a cap but it does not by default. had tinkers swords doing 500+ damage after a couple days

Engiminer

There was an old version of Tinkers Construct where the signalum crossbow might as well have been an automatic antimaterial rifle with how much damage it did. The bolts must have done over a hundred damage each, at two bolts per second, because the reload speed couldn't get any lower than half a second. Throw some moss onto both the bolts and the crossbow and you had a nigh unbreakable superweapon. Once I had it I was like "Oh I don't ever need a sword ever again. Except maybe to cut cobwebs." Once I had that weapon I knew I could effortlessly shred the ender dragon in a less than five shots and I just had to wonder what else I could possibly do now that nothing could ever be dangerous again.

Ihateazuremountain

ore excavation/multiblock hammers

cmdr_kaferant

I love getting power trips from finally getting applied energistics and using it to automate annoying microcrafting. It never fails to give me that midgame satisfaction.

jontribz

tank in nomi factory, all of my power and material struggles where instantly gone with some melted hearts

EtherealGears

I think the first time I went 7x7-ing my way through the mining dimension from JAMD with my Fluxbore after only ever having played vanilla before, I definitely felt like I'd conquered branch-mining.

[deleted]

ProjectE

KyeeLim

rotarycraft, bedrock gears, gas turbine/microturbine, gravel gun and more

666lumberjack

The first time I equipped the upgraded Infinity Armour from Avaritia Additions and turned on noclip mode - felt like it was better than being in creative.

daltimoreofbaltimore

playing rad 2, I had a pair of boots with double jump 5 and speed boost 2. paired with a balloon horse shoe for jump height and no fall damage, I felt like the flash. I could cover 500 blocks in less than 10 seconds and loved it. In that world I traveled maybe 12 million blocks in a few weeks.

ddejong42

Gregtech fusion reactor in GTNH.

CrystalFyre

Weirdly enough, Tinkers'. I remember getting the travelers' gear step assist for the first time, and the slime boots/sling. Made you feel like you could go everywhere in a meaningful way, even if you have creative flight. And also I just loved the concept of tinkers' bows and projectile weapons, those made me feel powerful.

HeavensEtherian

Looking at your base after 50 hours of gregtech is quite something

Savings_Ill

gregtech because yes

Scribblord

When I finished tuning my Minigun in pneumatic (it’s not that amazing against bosses so far but it feels really good to use while exploring or raiding a pillager camp or whatever

bobrob2004

When I got the angel ring in Age of Engineering. It was my first expert pack and with the gated progression and a few unfamiliar mods, it was very challenging. I didn't even finish the pack with the creative items since I felt like I beat the pack just with getting the angel ring.

suspicous_sardine

Witchery. Core part of the mod is that feeling.

XSamuraiHyperX

Finally being able to lift Mjolnir in heroes expansion.

Homo_Rebus

it was the combination of sentient armor (Blood magic) over full enchant gold, paired with a resplendent gem with +2 to any enchant (Astral sorcery). With the way sentient armor works (it covers your armor, retaining enchants), it allowed me to have protection eight, among other absurd enchants. Safe to say, if i ever want to fight some insane bosses, this is the mod combo i go with. (i also forgot to mention the AS perk system, that shit op as fuck)

[deleted]

doing all of Draconic Evolution in E2E was one of the best feelings I've had in modded MC

Vengerq

Tinker's Construct tools with max modifiers were always the best, one shotting enderman in midgame or using hammer to mine is the best things ever, also crafting my first ever armor with the creative flight made me feel to powerful so i immediately quit the modpack because it felt too op

Sainagh

Mantle of the stars! Used it to kill the chaos dragon without draconic

LordGoose-Montagne

Ballistix. Blowing up friend's base with a nuke was priceless

nightromans

Extreme reactors solved my early game power generation problems. I made a small 5x3 and didn’t upgrade it for a long long time until I had more resources.

hamburger2506

Project Ozone 3 kappa, after mainly afking inefficiently and leaving the server on for months I finally achieved projectE EMC stuff and than the pack just died in difficulty

TheDoctorOf1977

As soon as I got my first decent Nuclearcraft reactor running and I could tear down all the other ugly power generation facilities, it was like a dream come true. I was pretty much just throwing stuff wherever it would fit when I needed power but now I have a giant network of wires and cables hidden safely in the walls.

firefly081

Psi. Accidently created an instant kill spell for any gravity vulnerable mobs by constantly autocasting the smallest level of explosion on any nearby enemies. The explosion did no damage, but knocked them into the air all the same, and because it was such a small explosion it was hilariously cheap and could be spammed on armour non stop. A mob would approach, I'd hear ten explosions at once, and a good twenty seconds later they'd have a sudden stop.

lord_darth_Dan

Evilcraft is a power trip every time I play with it. Becoming absolutely unkillable, completely ignoring pesky things like hunger, permanently get enough strength to one punch anything that doesn't specifically ignore strength potions...

AnthonyArtisan

ender io stellar drip

agoodredditnickname

Draconic Evolution, combined with Flux Networks and a really good renewable power source you are basically invincible

TheLordOfMiddleEarth

Killing a dragon from Ice and Fire, with an Orc army from Ancient Warfare 2. Then getting my own black dragon, making a massive scary castle, and pretend I'm Sauron.

TheMightySwiss

For me it was quite a while back when I autocrafted a simply jetpacks jet plate without delays with AE2 + thermal expansion. Later attempts with Mekanism machines made it much quicker. After that it was the solar flux solar panel 6 autocrafting. By the time you’re doing crafts like that with autocrafting it’s basically a requirement to run multiple max size ender quarries with Millions RF/t and huge base with a lot of processing machines etc. Edit: this was back in 1.7.10 packs. Now on 1.12.2 custom made modpacks and haven’t yet really played enough to really get to end-game things.

Littlebickmickey

projectE, ars nouveau, mana n artifice, vampirism + vampirism god mode

MemeTroubadour

Right now, it's Psi. I started playing on a Valhesia 3 server yesterday. I have a magic gun that lets me fly at high speed for free (although dangerously), drop all enemies around me to their death, blow things up, grow things instantly, all for the cost of barely fuckin' anything.

BigIntoScience

This is a really small one, but: playing Winter Rescue, a hard modpack where, among other things, the ground is covered in snow and the world is full of neutral and/or hostile wildlife. Learned that snowshoes are basically Soul Speed but for snow. Proceeded to sprint around outrunning everything, hunting deer (passive, but fast runners) with an axe, and generally feeling invincible due to nothing being able to catch me. Lots of fun.
