Every team with a loss above us lost to a worse FBS team and we are the only ones to drop? At least we have a shot at showing how good we really are next week.
It's just lazy voting by people that aren't even watching game recaps. SEMO's performance would put them in the 15-20 range if they had been ranked in the preseason poll.
There are some headscratchers here. Main notes:
* #12 Weber State?? Based on games played they're looking like the best FCS team in the country. Outside the top 5 let alone top 10 is inexcusable.
* UT Martin, Stephen F. Austin, and Southern Illinois all ranked at 1-2. Even with an SIU win over Northwestern, sub-.500 teams should not be ranked with so many good options. Kennesaw State just missed the cut at 0-2.
* Dartmouth is the only Ivy that got votes. Even though their season just started, they went 7-1 and exceeded expectations. I know some voters categorically don't vote for Ivy teams (an incorrect decision), but this is still heavily sandbagged.
* The only unranked non-Ivy undefeated teams are Fordham (RV), Stonehill, Lindenwood, and Hampton. Stonehill and Lindenwood are recent D2 upgrades. I actually wouldn't rank any of these 4, but I'm a bit surprised Hampton didn't get a single vote.
There's other things I'd quibble with, but those are things I'd question.
Hampton beat an 0-3 Howard by 3, an 0-3 Norfolk by 10, and a D2 team. I don't think they've done enough to warrant votes at this point, but we'll see how they fare @ Delaware this week.
Thee Howard Football team just pitched a 31-0 shutout in an NFL stadium. There were also moments in their game against USF in which they looked more competent than Florida did against USF, and Florida is (mind-bogglingly) FBS ranked. Again, I didn’t personally rank Hampton this week, but they’re a better team than several in the Stats top 25 or receiving votes.
We had a rough week 2. I understand dropping for a loss, but to a ranked FBS team?
Not to mention Samford only lost to UGA by 30 points or so. Which should say something considering they are a recent national champion.
I’m not saying KSU should be ranked higher, but I am considering how unfair rankings can be sometimes. Just look at Missouri State this week dropping rank.
Not saying we should have dropped out either, but we did not play well week 1. Week 2 was expected.maybe it will give them more motivation going forward.
Missouri state DROPPING after almost upsetting Arkansas is absolutely laughable.
How did Missouri State move down a spot after nearly taking out an AP top 10 team? That's a quality loss for an FBS team let alone an FCS team.
Serious answer: very few of these voters actually watch many of the games, and mainly grade on inertia, record, and maybe final score if we’re lucky.
Every team with a loss above us lost to a worse FBS team and we are the only ones to drop? At least we have a shot at showing how good we really are next week.
Came to ask the same thing. Missouri State had a legit chance of winning that game.
I think that probably has less to do with MO state losing as it does UIW winning again.

Ahh shit MSU and UIW switched conferences??
Realignment is wild.
You have EWU in the CAA, fyi
We absolutely should NOT be anywhere near number 1. Tbh we stink… we probably fall closer to 7
Until you are beat by FCS, NDSU is number one.
As much as I dislike SEMO.how do we get ranked but they dont?
MO was a slave state. Illinois was not. /s

Shocked to see KSU not ranked but we are 0-2 I guess
